Thanks for the tag!! @vostok3-ka I haven’t written in forever (probably months), it’s been so long that I completely forgot I even had a story going 😭

He neared the front of the line, only one more person stood between him and this new chance at enlistment. The man before him coughed into his fist, then took the pen and began signing. Steve tried to remain patient, fidgeting with anticipation, but his eagerness made the wait feel like an eternity. Finally, the man turned around with a small, polite smile, handing the pen to Steve. It was his turn now, and he hoped that if God had been listening, this time would be the one.
