lazy mornings; lee donghyuck
pairings: bf! donghyuck x gn! reader summary: after Hyuck gets in late from the studio, the two of you have a lazy start to your day. contents: fluff, established relationship, slightly suggestive word count: 989
Tumblr media
A sloppy, wet kiss woke you from your slumber, lips pressing deeply into your cheek, leaving your skin dampened under their touch. Your eyes remained closed, but even half-asleep, you couldn't resist nuzzling your cheek into Hyuck's. The gesture elicited a deep, pleased hum from him, followed by a series of other small, lazy, wet kisses, barely audible even though they were right near your ear. The free hand that isn't resting under his head for support came up to hold your face and pull it closer to his, thumb stroking the skin under your tired eyes affectionately.
"Good morning," you mumbled. He could only hum in response, too exhausted from being up late in the studio the night before to make an a attempt forming a complete sentence. You knew what he meant to say, though.
Under the white duvet that covered both of your bodies, his leg draped over yours, keeping you enveloped in his warmth. You smiled and relished in the feeling, tucking your feet under his.
"Your feet are cold," he slurred.
"Shh..."
For the first time this morning, you blinked your eyes open, squinting at the early sun that poured in through the blinds of your bedroom. Reluctant to move from the comfortable position just yet, your arm stretched out towards the bed-side table, fingers dancing on the surface in search of your cellphone. When after a few seconds you failed to locate it by feel, you sat up a and grabbed it.
Hyuck whined at the loss of contact. "What time is it?"
"9:36" you reply.
"Hmph. It's too early." He tried to pull you even closer but you wiggled out of his grip, swinging your legs over the side of the bed. If you didn't get up quickly, you knew he'd talk you into laying around for at least another hour. He was usually better at getting up in the mornings, but considering he had gotten in at 2AM last night, it was understandable that he was still exhausted.
"We can have a cozy, stay-in day today." you decided.
His wordless grunt of a response was similar to all the noises he had made in protest this morning. He turns the other way, covering his face with his pillow.
Sparing him a few more minutes, you rubbed your eyes and stepped into the bathroom, using the toilet, then washing your hands, teeth, and face to rid yourself of any left over tiredness. When you step out, your boyfriend is in the very same position, quiet snores muffled underneath the pillow. You chuckled at the sound and walked over to his side of the bed, placing your hands, icy cold from the sink water, on his bare back.
"Come on, baby. I'll make you breakfast. Whatever you want."
He hissed as soon as your hands made contact with his skin and flipped over onto his back, grabbing your wrists and finally cracking open his pretty eyes to look at you. "I know what I wanna eat," he mumbled, mustering up a tired smirk and wiggling his eyebrows.
You shook your head and laughed, "Later. Let's have a real breakfast and then," you pause, leaning down to look at him through your lashes, "we can do that, for as long as you want, until you go to the studio later."
He smiled softly, satisfied with your offer, then huffed dramatically, finally getting up. He goes into the bathroom while you head for the kitchen, taking out some left over rice, two eggs, and the rest ingredients for a quick kimchi-jjigae. You set up some music on your phone, then begin chopping up the vegetables as you waited for the water to boil.
Hyuck joined you in the kitchen a few minutes later, wrapping his arms over your shoulders and kissing your hair. He held you for a couple of seconds, swaying the two of you to the music because he's cheesy like that, then pulled away and started setting the table, giving you space to move around and finish preparing the food. Once you do, you turn to see him sitting expectantly, bouncing in his seat like a little kid.
You set his bowls in front of him and he smiled up at you in appreciation, sliding his hand around your waist and squeezing the skin at your hips. You leaned down.
"Thank you, baby." he mumbles against your lips, giving you a small peck.
Your own bowls are placed on the table in front of him a few moments later, and you sit down, joining him. He waited for you to begin eating, and once you did, he eagerly picked up his spoon, filling it with the soup and slurping it down. With his eyebrows creased together, hyuck let out a thick, happy sigh.
"How do you make Korean food better than me?" He praised, shoveling in another bite.
You laughed, then continued eating, occasionally glaring at him when he'd playfully kick you under the table or grab your toes with his own, giggling like a school-boy who felt accomplished only when bothering you.
"Stop it, weirdo." You said, pulling your feet away and tucking them under your chair.
"Ew, don't talk with your mouth full!" He scolded half-heartedly, still chewing, for the record, and waved his finger at you. Rolling your eyes, you swallow.
The two of you continue eating in silence, other than the little hums of satisfaction Hyuck would let out after every few bites.
"This was good," he announced, picking up his plate and yours when you've finished. He carried it over to the sink and scrubbed it clean, then made his way back over to where you were at the table, still seated with your phone in your hand.
His feet padded closer until he stopped right behind you. Sighing contently, you leaned back and tilted your head to look up at him, eyes fluttering closed as his lips met your forehead, "Thank you for breakfast," he whispered, leaving his lips and nose pressed to your skin as he spoke. His hands come up to cradle your face.
"Course, hyuck," You mumble, leaning into the gesture. Turning your face slightly, you press a small kiss to his fingers.
"Now, about what you said earlier..."

One thing that will never cease to get on my nerves is the retcons brought about by Twisted Metal 4.
I know that the TM series is one of those where getting annoyed about the lore is a fruitless task. Every game in the series has contradicted another at least once, but I can't help but feel 4 is the egregious, since although it and 3 have been discarded as non-canon nowadays, when they were made, they were supposed to be canonical follow-ups to 1 and 2.
First off, the source of Calypso's power being a ring that contains the souls of everyone who died during the tournaments. Okay, this one os relatively minor, literally every game aside from 3, weirdly enough, retcons where Calypso's powers come from. Still, it's a notable example of just tossing away whatever was established previously in order to structure 4's own paper-thin plot.
Then, the idea that Twisted Metal has been running since the early twentieth century. This brings about a few problems. First of all, it implies that Needles was a child at this point; Twisted Metal 1 is canonically set in 2005 and, back when 3 and 4 were supposed to be canon, one can assume they were set after 1, since Calypso has that familiarity with Needles that he didn't have in 1, and Needles has consistently been portrayed as being in his late thirties to forties. This retcon of him being young in the early 1900s implies that he would have been at least a century old during TM1 and God knows how old during 3. Furthermore, it also retcons Calypso being born around 1957.
I do understand how dumb it is to get worked up over Twisted Metal's non-existent worldbuilding, but I've been looking into writing a small TM fanfiction and, as a writer who honestly enjoyed a lot of the writing in 2 particularly, it just annoys me that 989 Studios were so blatantly disrespectful to what Jaffe and Co. established.
