this is so late but for the writer meme!! 2 4 31 41 57 58 84 (👀) 92! however many you want to answer
well, my friend, you may be late but I love this meme so it all works out! <3
(time is soup and the writer asks meme is still here)
2. talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”
Time to be a little mean. The whole "oh nooo my characters won't do what I want!" routine exhausts me. Yes, of course they'll do what you want, quirkily self-deprecating online writer; you're the one putting the words down. Characters "refusing" to follow a plan is just your own cognitive dissonance, because part of you realizes it's a bad plan that makes no sense for the character. Characters aren't troublesome children throwing a tantrum in the icecream aisle, and there's nothing to gain by treating them that way. When I realize making the character act the way I want them to for the sake of my plot is a little too convenient to be believable, I try to ask the character: If you won't do this under these circumstances, how much worse would the situation need to get before you'll consider it? Because most everyone will do most anything if pushed far enough in the right direction. So then I amend my plan to make the circumstances worse in the lead-up to that problem point, and it usually works out.
4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?
[staring ahead with dead eyes] Honestly, ideas have an expiration date, and there's just stuff I'll never get to so I might as well give up. Pour a drink for absent friends*. [*Absent friends meaning all the stories I never wrote in old fandoms because I wasn't "good enough" to write them yet, failing to grasp the very simple truth that you have to write in order to get better at writing.]
31. tell us about one of your characters who’s an absolute joy to write
Just any character who needs to Always Be In Control and suddenly finds themself (plot twist!) no longer in control. Like, control is a distant dot on the horizon for them and the way toward it is lined with carnivorous plants ready to chew them up. Delicious.
41. what is the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had.
I honestly don't know what classifies as weird because (having recently been very exposed to Normie, Non-Fanfiction Consuming People's plot ideas through improv) all my story ideas are some degree of weird. That said, I wrote a story about a T-Rex who was a spaceship captain once.
57. what is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were reading it?
I googled Tether Essence to figure out if it's a concentration spell. You can guess the plot of what I was reading. (It is concentration! Also, once of the first hits on "tether essence 5e" is an article called: "Tether Essence: 3 Unique Uses" and it made me laugh because, well. "Unique", applied to stuff like "can willingly fail". Dear writer of this article: I can show you the world...)
58. what is the last thing that a fic made you google when you were writing it?
Also spells. I wanted to be sure that both Greater Invisibility and Expeditious Retreat, great spells for escaping pursuit after you've done a Crime, are all concentration, so if you're just one guy, you're either in plain sight or you're too slow to get away and either way you're screwed. Very fun.
84. said: overused or underused?
"said" is great. I don't need characters to "exclaim" and "demand" and "enunciate" or whatever the fuck every single line of dialogue. If it's clear who's talking from the content itself then skipping the dialogue tag altogether is great, and if you absolutely have to put a dialogue tag there, well, sometimes people just "say" things normally.
92. first, second or third person?
I love them all. I kiss them on the mouth. But I kiss second person a little harder, because there's not enough of it and it's such a delight to read. We should all write more 2nd person. For Harrow, and the Homestucks that came before her (so I hear).

Fun fact the story, character arcs, and actual writing is proof they're going to be together. The subtext and parallels is proof they did it on purpose. The wild theories are for fun.

Okay but El who never saw the sky for twelve years? El who had to hide in a basement? El who gets joy from the nature around her and loves the spring flowers? El who unabashedly declares people "pretty" bc she likes to admire them? El who was taken to a secret bunker against her will? El who got her first real tiny taste of freedom running off in the woods?
You're telling me it isn't canon that she's obsessed with staring at the moon? You're telling me she doesn't gaze up at the night sky and say "pretty"? You're telling me she isn't obsessed with the one constant in her life and in nature? You're telling me she doesn't whisper the truth about her life in Lenora to the moon?
Why?

i literally want to ask about all your WIPs but i'll start with 3490 steve’s very bad no good day and stop bath please and thank you <3
you're so sweet, vamp! ty kindly!
stop bath ch. 5 snippet just for you, hot off the presses:
“They put me on an image inducer,” Steve says and closes the topic by tugging the gun out of Tony’s thigh holster and clicking off the safety. Beretta 92. He tsks. “Oh, get over it.” “The short —“ “Reset is a pain, I know. Cry me a river,” Tony’s peeling off his gauntlets. Better, Steve knows, to not use a repulsor in the field when not necessary, to leave that nice sliver of doubt as to whether Iron Man was there. Plausible deniability, the Ultimates greatest friend. “The magazine is bigger.” “15, 17,” Steve shakes his head, “if you’re paying attention —“ “Anyways!” Tony says, too loudly, as he hooks the gauntlets to something on his belt, leaves them dangling there like a prize fighter’s boxing gloves. The casualness of it tickles Steve. “This image inducer . . . “ His humor swirls away. “I’m not talking about it.” “Were you hot?” Steve weighs a few answers to that. Thinks about his — not his — reflection. About feeling small and objectified. Says a version of the truth, “other people thought so.” There’s a strangely loud silence in response to that.
3490 steve's very bad no good day here!

Making a flower crown for the darkling as gift 🧡 I just know his reaction would be priceless ksksksks
It would be! He is definitely not used to recieving gifts and especially not delicate ones like this.
He knows he is a destructive force of nature and here you are, offering him a gift that could easily be broken if he isn't careful. You're likely alone in a meadow when this happens, on something of a picnic either of you organised when you give it to him.
The crown itself is mostly composed of white and yellow flowers because their long stems make for easy braiding, contrasting the dark black clothes he always wears.
It feels strange when you set it on his head, but he thanks you for it nonetheless. A crown is something worn by a king and he is not one, yet when the delicately braided stems are placed on his head, he feels like he is.
And the truth is, he is a king. Of your heart, but you are yet to tell him that...

You and the general having to share one bed in this pub and oh what happens hmm? 👀
*slams hands on the table* and there was oNLY ONE BED!
Warnings: none, just heavy pining Word count: 1856
Part of you was in hysterics about the situation, wanted to laugh about it until you could barely breathe while the other part of you was absolutely terrified. Out of all the people to land in a scene that could have been straight out of a romance novel, it was you and the infamous Ravkan general.
Your heart was probably beating loud enough that every heartrender in the nearby perimiter could hear it as you dropped your traveling bag a little louder than you wanted to, drawing his attention, which up until that point you had managed to keep from yourself for the most part, save for the moment at the bar where you’d found out there were not enough rooms to house all six of you comfortably.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like it, but everytime he looked at you, you felt like every nerve ending had suddenly been set on fire and you muttered a quick apology before plucking your night shifts out of your bag and moved to the small but closed off washing area.
At least here you couldn’t feel his heavy gaze as you slowly relaxed and stripped out of your day wear and put the comfortable fabric over your limbs. It wasn’t fashionable in any way, but it kept you warm during the night.
Behind the curtain you could hear him shuffling around and the dry sigh of the fabric from his Kefta told you he was changing as well, and you decided to wait a little until the commotion died down enough for you to be confident that he was done, not accidentally wanting to see him naked and poked your head around the curtain to see if your suspicions were correct.
What you were not expecting to see was the fact that he had forgone the need for a shirt and had his back turned to you as he looked out of the window, which you were glad about as you felt a blush creep up your cheeks and quickly retreated behind the curtain again.
Your heart was certainly loud enough now that Ivan and Fedyor, the two heartrenders in your company, could almost definitely hear it and you wouldn’t put it above Ivan to come in and complain that you needed to keep your heart beat down so he could sleep.
Sunken away in your thoughts, you opened the tap above the small sink and let the water run as you splashed your face with it. The cold water felt nice against your heated skin and slowly, you could feel your heart come back to its normal pace.
Eyes now heavy with sleep, you turned off the tap and yawned as you pushed the curtain aside to get comfortable somewhere, completely forgetting the fact that you had seen the general half naked just a few minutes ago, but as you looked around the room, he was nowhere to be found.
Deciding it would be rude to take the only bed in the room, you plucked the few cushions from the two seats in the room and made yourself as comfortable as possible and hoped you would be asleep before he came back, saving you the discussion over who would take the floor that night.
-
You weren’t sure how late it was when you woke up. The silvery slivers that came through the blinds told you it was still night, but you wouldn’t be able to tell the time even if your life depended on it.
The warmth around you slowly settled in your reality as your mind became more aware of its surroundings, little by little.
First came the pleasant weight of a blanket and the softness of the fabric, then the weight of something else draped over your middle. It was heavy, but not unpleasantly. There was a heavy, steady breath near the nape of your neck and when you moved a little, trying to take in more of your surroundings, you could feel the soft tickling of a beard on your shoulder.
Whether the realisation had hit you as slow as you had woken up or faster than a manipulated wind current from a Squaller, you didn’t know, but once the knowledge had set in, your mind began to race. Like it always did when you were near him.
Why he had disappeared before you went to sleep or how you had ended up next to him in the small bed the room possessed, you had no idea, though you could only guess that he had seen you asleep in the corner and had taken you to bed with him, for a reason only the Saints could ever reveal to you.
Breathing in deeply, you tried to calm your mind. There were still a good few hours left before the sun would come up and you’d have to leave, but there seemed no calming it, no matter how much you focussed on your breath.
Shifting a little under the heavy weight that laid over your waist, you managed to find a position that was more comfortable to be awake in as your eyes moved around the room, scanning the dark silhouttes that clung to the floor and walls.
“Comfortable?”
You tensed involutarily at the sound of his voice behind you as you tried to figure out what had woken him. You were fairly certain you had been as quiet and still as you could, save for the small change in your position just now, unless he had been awake before you’d woken up.
Was more before I knew you were awake, you thought to yourself as the familiar burn began to settle over your body, even more noticable now in the places where your bodies touched each other, and you thought you might burn a hole into the bed right there and accidentally set the establishment on fire.
You shifted again, but this time he lifted his arm to give you more room to move. If he had been awake before you first moved your position, he had done a terrific job at keeping you in the dark about it.
“Yeah, comfortable,” you said as you let out a breath that sagged your whole body, leaning completely against him as you let your head sink back into the cushion it had been laying on, but you doubted you would be falling back into sleep any time soon.
Words were weighing heavily on your tongue, though you could not give them shape as you became acutely aware of the silence in the room. A silence that was comfortable, but you didn’t want it to be there. You wanted to talk. To hear the voice of the man behind you. You wanted to talk to him, but you didn’t know where to start.
Your breath was slow but steady as you stared at what you assumed was the curtain to the washing area and you pondered over the things you wanted to say. One part of you wanted to make simple small talk, hear each others voices until one of you fell asleep first, the other wanted to cut to the chase. To confess your feelings for him right here in this moment of clear vunerability and as you debated and weighed your options, the urge to turn to your other side began to rise as well when you felt the shoulder you were laying on get uncomfortable.
It was already a miracle in and of itself that he had managed to get you both into the small bed and you were convinced that if you tried going flat on your back that you would accidentally push him off, which left completely turning around as your only option. Besides of course continueing the discomfort in your shoulder, but your decision was quickly made as the discomfort began to turn into pain and wordlessly you turned around in his arms and settled into the matrass again.
When your nose brushed against the naked skin of his shoulder, you could swear everything in the world had stopped. From your heart to your thoughts to the passage of time itself.
The bastard was still half naked.
As you regained your ability to breathe, your thoughts slowly came back to you, racing through your head though they all seemed to consist of a single word.
Fuck.
You didn’t know where to keep your hands as your thoughts raced on, but it seemed best to keep them where they were, on your own chest while the burning feeling in your body seemed to reach its high.
Something on your mind?” he asked, and you swore you could hear a smile in his words.
You, you thought. You have been the only thing on my damn mind since I woke up and if you say one more word I am probably going to combust. But despite that thought, you answered him anyway.
“Everything… and nothing at the same time.”
He hummed at your response, though you could not find any judgement and a question passed your lips.
“Anything on yours?”
“Not in particular.”
He trailed his fingers up and down along the length of your spine and for some Saintforsaken reason, the feeling helped you relax. Silence fell over the room once again and again, you wanted to lift it. Hear his voice and hear your own talking to his.
His ministrations moved from your spine over your shoulder, to your arm, drawing patterns that seemed senseless to you, but you enjoyed the feeling and it compelled you to put at least one hand on him as well, though you didn’t exactly know why.
The feel of his skin under your fingertips sent a strange sensation through your body, one that cooled the burning heat you had felt from his touch and kept it to a pleasant, fuzzy warmth and your fingers began, without thinking, mimicking the movements of the ones that were trailing your arm and soon enough, you could feel your mind drift back towards the realm of sleep.
“I wish we could stay like this forever,” you murmured, not awake enough to think of the repercussions your words could have, memorising the feel of his skin.
“Too bad the night will disappear…” you heard him reply above you and you smiled.
“Yeah, too bad…”
You memorised his skin for long moments after that, hoping to remember every little detail, every little bump or dip you could feel until your fingers lost their path from how close you were to falling back into dreams and you moved a little closer to him, hoping you would wake up like this, that none of it had been a dream.
You could hear words coming from your mouth, but you didn’t know what they meant as your mind began to drift back into sleep once more and your head dipped forward to lay against his chest, inhaling his scent and you could swear you heard an answer from him, but you were gone before you could figure them out, surely dreaming of the press of his lips on the crown of your head.

Sitting between his legs in bed. Back against chest. You read the darkling a book and he kisses your shoulders 🥺😩
With the war going on, there are very few moments like this. Moments where the war seems but a tale from far away, where peace seems to have settled.
But tonight is one of those rare, quiet nights as you sit between the legs of your lover and the leader of the Grisha.
You had been sitting on the bed reading a book when he had come in and placed himself behind your back. Peppering kisses over your exposed shoulders, relishing in the giggles that came from you when he did so.
"Will you read to me?" he'd asked after you had stopped giggling from the kisses and you had agreed.
Between paragraphs he still pressed kisses to you skin, perhaps reminding you, perhaps himself, that this was real. That the peace you had in this moment was real as the words flowed from your eyes to your lips into his ears.
Not that he was interested in any of the words that were written on the paper, but your voice was an extra reminder to him that he wouldn't suddenly wake up without you. That all of it had been a dream.
And so you spend most of the night together, reassuring the other that this was real and that they were there.

What if you are a heartrender and new to the palace. And everytime you meet the darkling you notice his heartbeat quickens seeing you 👀
Title taken from this lovely list by @creativepromptsforwriting
Can’t you feel my heart beating?
Word Count: 812 Warnings: none
The first time you notice it is more by chance than anything else. As not uncommon in the Little Palace, there is a feast for all the royals and nobels each year at the Winter Fete, but all the noise and people is not a thing that has ever been up your alley.
The noise of people talking and the strong, mixed scents of slight body odor, heavy perfume and consumables made you dizzy as you try to ground yourself, so you decided to concentrate on the heartbeats of all the people you could see and one by one you mentally went through the room, fingers crossed behind your back as you relaxed against a wall so no one would suspect you were doing something.
Soon enough, your eyes landed on, who you thought to be the most interesting person in the room.
The Black General.
He was wearing his usual black Kefta, but something seemed to be extra regal about him tonight as he seemed to be making casual conversation with the king and queen as his heart beat a steady pace.
You couldn't help but smile as he moved on from the conversation, the beating of his heart slowing down ever so slightly. Barely noticable around all the other hearts you could still hear in the back of your head.
You had no fear of being seen staring at him as you weren't the only one who was looking at the man clad in black. You knew that over the however long course of his life, he'd gotten used to it, just as you had gotten used to the stare of the commoners as you walked around Os Alta in your red and black Kefta as your eyes followed the general to one of the tables where part of the food was set up, where someone else chatted him up.
And then you caught it. The skipping of a heart beat. It was to obvious to be one of the beats that drummed in the back of your head and you wondered what it was that had made the ever-stoic general stop in his tracks.
Your eyes found his and you felt like you’d been set aflame under his intense gaze, unable to help the bashful smile that crept up your face, but your attention was pulled away from him as Marie whisks you away to a corner she and Nadia had made themselves home for the night.
You appreciate the gesture, but you couldn’t seem to keep your eyes of the general as you chat with your two friends, happy not having to pretend anymore that you were just waiting for someone.
You barely saw him the rest of the evening, guessing he was preoccupied with all the visiting ambasadors that had come from far and wide for the spectacle.
And for some reason it stung a little but you paid it little mind as you chatted the night away with your friends.
The second time you noticed was at a military gathering, discussing the next move of several faction of the first and second army. It was clear to you you weren’t going on any missions anytime soon so you resorted to listening to the heartbeats of the people present, a habit you’d foud calmed you and staved off boredom. All their hearts beat a steady pace. Once of rest and ease, despite the current discussion going on.
You easily found the general’s heartbeat, drumming just a little slower than the others around you as they faded to the back of your conciousness. You followed his eyes across the table, occasionally looking at the scale map that laid before you, the little black figurines standing a silent guard over the fake fold that had been constructed on it as missions were assigned and military issues were discussed. And then it happend again.
The general’s heart skipped a few beats.
You couldn’t read anything from his face, but his heartbeat had sped up significantly and you wondered why. As the meeting went on, it went back to its old, steady rythm and for a brief second you thought you caught Ivan rolling his eyes at him, but you paid it little mind.
Until the end of the meeting, as everyone slowly dispersed, getting ready for their respective missions when you caught his gaze, still listening to the heartbeats with half a mind and it happend again. Unmistakably, and you found yourself powerless to do anything against the intensity of his stare, smiling sheepishly as you cast your eyes down.
“I should be off,“ you murmured softly, but loud enough for him to hear.
The break of eyecontact seemed enough to break the spell and you quickly made your way out of the room, hopefully imagining the scoff that came from Ivan as you turned the corner to your rooms.

You and the darkling have to hide in a cave because of a suddenly appearing storm. It is too far from the castle so you stay here until it’s dry again. What do you think would happen? 👀
Warnings: probably incorrect use of Grisha magic but I don't care, Nervous!Aleksander, pining, shared body heat, smut, unprotected sex don’t be silly, wrap your willy, fuck or die, afab reader (no pronouns), fingering (f receiving),
Word Count: 2805
Ravkan rain is cold and the sudden burst that had surprised you had left you both more soaked than was favorable in this kind of weather, not even the Kefta holding against the heavy droplets coming out of the sky.
But luck hadn't completely abandoned you as there was a small cave nearby, deep enough to provide shelter from the downpour, but with your Keftas soaked, there is not much warmth to be found and neither does there seem to be anything to start a fire.
At first you two just pull your soaked coats closer around yourselves, hoping to preserve some of the body warmth you both had left, hoping the weather would soon take a turn and let you return to the palace.
But by the time you both figured out the weather is not going to change any time soon, you were shivering in your coat, curled up against the cave wall with half purple lips.
Aleksander realised the cold is affecting him too, maybe more than he initially thought it would since he is used to the coldness of the shadows and vaguely recalls a time a healer told him something about staving off the cold and shared body heat.
He knew it was probably a good idea to get rid of the soaked fabrics around your bodies, but it was the fact that you needed to share body heat to be able to survive that was arguing with him.
He had been harboring feelings for you for a few months now, but he could not be sure if you felt the same, even though Ivan had told him many times with a semblance of a smile around his stiff lips that he shouldn't worry about that. And yet...
"Saints, I'm fucking freezing," you said with clattering teeth as you pulled yourself tighter together as far as it was possible and readjusted your soaked coat. "Couldn't there be some damn wood in this cave?"
Seems not. Seems like the Saints like to torture me, as always, Aleksander thought to himself as he slowly came closer to you.
You stopped shivering for a moment when he called your name, curious about what he had to say as he suddenly seemed almost... nervous?
"A healer told me sometime ago, when we found one of our lost search parties, that when things get too cold for one human body to bear alone..." He trailed off as he tried to gauge your reaction, would you be appalled at what he was about to say? Try to crawl away from him, saying that it was a bad idea?
But you did none of those things, you just kept looking at him with curious eyes.
"That if they have a companion... it is best to..." he swallowed before the next words left his mouth, afraid you'd reject the offer. "Share body heat."
He'd said the words, made you a proposal, a fairly scandalous one at that, and for the first time in many decades he found himself genuinely praying to the Saints above that you would accept, if only for your own survival.
He couldn't read your face as you thought about it and he wouldn't blame you if you rejected, but as you had done so many times before, you managed to surprise him. Again.
"Well, I'd accept, but we don't really have anything dry to cover ourselves with to keep the warmth in, do we?"
"I wouldn't be so certain of that," he said as an idea sprung in his mind.
He'd never used the shadows for a purpose like this, but he was convinced it would work. They might not be very warm themselves, but they were excellent at keeping things outside. And inside.
You raised an eyebrow at that. "As much as I would love to be a Durast right now, we don't have anything to keep our body heat trapped in something."
"We do," he simply said, "now strip before we both die from the cold."
It was a command, that much was clear to you, but the underlying playfulness made you laugh.
"Sir yes sir," you giggled and gave him a short wink as you worked yourself out of your coat and other garments until you were both naked, but he covered both of you in shadows, before you could get a good look at him, though he had been watching you the entire time, you had been undressing and he felt heat rushing through his body like he was some blushing schoolboy and he could almost hear his mother scoffing at him as he ordered the shadows to take you to him.
To his surprise, the darkness around the both of you did a far better job of keeping out the cold than he had expected it to
"Better?" He asked, the nervousness he displayed earlier now mostly gone and you hummed as you nuzzled into his chest, which was certainly warmer than you were in the current situation as he slowly lowered the both of you to the ground, making it easier for the both of you to get as close and as much skin contact as possible.
Your body was still shivering against his, but as time went on, it didn't subside like the both of you had hoped, even though you felt a lot warmer than you had before and he felt how you tried to get closer to him, to try and help away even the slightest bit of cold.
Several ideas popped into his head, though he dismissed them all as soon as they came up. He was already happy you agreed to this solution and he wasn't going to push his luck. Not this much, but the longer you kept shivering against him, the more that resolve began to crumble.
And for the second time that day, you surprised him.
"Saints... I am probably overstepping my boundaries here... but I can't think of another way to get warm..."
"Care to elaborate on that idea?" The words left his mouth before he could do anything to stop them as he heard you suck in a surprised breath and quietly cursed himself for losing his filter.
But you quickly recollected yourself before you spoke again, albeit with some hesitance.
"Like I said... I am probably overstepping my boundaries here–" but he cut you off before you could finish your sentence.
"You're not overstepping any boundaries, is that clear?" His tone was commanding as you looked up at him and nodded, though he noticed your gaze was still avoiding his and for a brief moment he wondered why.
"Sexcanraisesomeone'scoretemperatureandhelpscombatlowbodyheat." The words flew out of your mouth so fast he could barely understand what you just said. He wanted to ask you to repeat it in a slower tempo when the meaning hit him.
He wanted to say so many things to you, but the only thing that came out of his mouth was: "Do you trust me?"
“I do.“
As soon as the confirmation had left your mouth, he placed his lips on yours.
The kiss was soft and he could feel you smile as he trailed one hand down your body while the other held the back of your head.
he traced his fingers around the sensitve area of your sex as he deepened the kiss and a content sigh left you as his fingers continued their exploration.
He could hear your breath hitch in your throat every time he went over a particular spot on your inner thigh and decided a little teasing wouldn’t hurt. The more aroused you were, the better.
Your breath grew laboured as he traced circles over the spot and he couldn’t help the grin that was tugging at the corners of his lips, before he moved up to snake his long fingers through your folds.
Your mouth fell open into a silent ‘O‘ when he did so, quietly encouraging him to go on and he happily obliged that request as he found your clit and gave it a few experimental touches, eliciting a soft noise out of you he never wanted to forget.
He continued to tease your clit while the rest of his fingers found your soaking hole and without warning one quickly found its way inside you, making you moan and the grin on his face grew.
The nervousness he’d felt earlier had completely melted away and a more teasing side of him had taken its place as he captured your lips into a kiss once more, this one deeper and hungrier and you eagerly returned it as you felt your hips start to move on their own accord as he continued his torturing slow pace.
“Eager one aren’t you?” he teased as he started to work a second finger inside of you as you only nodded and as he looked at you, he realised he really wouldn’t mind seeing you more often in a position like this, albeit under more favorable circumstances, while he continued to work in and out of you as your walls started to clamp down on his fingers.
You moaned his name and for a moment his mind went blank. He’d always liked the way you said his name, made him feel more of a man than an ancient being, but when it had left your lips in that sweet tone he knew he was a goner. He wanted to hear you say it over and over again and he would never get sick of it.
He could feel you starting to leave marks on his chest from the pleasure you were experiencing and it spurred him on. Perhaps even more than he would like to admit and slowly increased his pace as more moans fell from your lip as he craned down to trail a series of wet kisses over your jaw to your neck where he softly bit down on the skin. It wasn’t nearly enough to hurt you or to leave a mark, but the way your body went slack with the action had him aching to find out what would happen if he did mark you up.
But something like that was not reserved for this time. Perhaps later, though he wasn’t sure there would be one. He wasn’t even sure you’d want to look at him after this, but that was a concern for later. Right now he just wanted to keep hearing the way you moaned his name and all the other sweet noises you were making.
He could tell you were getting close as your walls started to clamp down on his fingers more and more and he kissed your swollen, parted lips, once more wondering what it would be like under more favourable circumstances.
And then, with a loud moan, you came down hard from your peak. The expression on your face was forever burned in the back of his mind as he worked you through it and as your body calmed down, only now realising how hard he had gotten by watching you as you curled into his chest, his erection no doubt poking against your hip.
“How do you feel?” He asked as he weaved one of his hands through your hair, trying to ignore his massive hard on as he checked in with you.
“Warmer. You?” you softly murmured as you placed a soft kiss on his chest, either ignoring it too or completely oblivious to what was poking your hip.
Horny, was the first thought that went through his head and he silently laughed at himself. He sounded like a schoolboy and luckily for him, it was not those words that left his mouth.
“Better, now you are not shivering from the cold anymore.”
You hummed at his response. “Sure you don’t want to do anything about that hard on of yours?” you half teased him as you giggled at your own words.
He laughed with you for a moment before considering what you just asked.
“And how do you suppose we would do that?” he asked, but he had barely finished the sentence before he felt your hands around his cock, slowly stroking him and he groaned.
“Well we could go about it in one of two ways… either I use my hands like this, or you fuck me.”
He twitched at your words as you continued to softly stroke him.
“Your choice.”
He didn’t need to think long about that offer as he crashed his lips onto yours, removing your hands from his cock in the same motion.
“Is that enough of an answer for you?” he said, his voice deeper than it had been moments ago and you nodded.
Parting your legs, he dragged his length through your still slick folds, before slowly pushing into you, both of you hissing at the feeling of the other and he rested for a moment when he bottomed out, silently wishing he could see all of you, but the fates would not have it that way.
“Saints you feel big,” you breathed and the clench of your wet pussy made it hard for him to keep control of himself, but he knew he needed to give you just a little more time to adjust to him and so he did.
“Think you can take it?” Half of him was teasing you and half of him was checking in on you, if he truly wasn’t hurting you.
“Fuck- I want to.”
At first, his movements were shallow, but with every stroke they grew longer and harder and soon enough he had set a steady pace, though it didn’t last long as he increased his pace quickly and he was surprised at how quickly he lost himself in the feel of you around him as he started to chase his own pleasure.
Your moans were quickly swallowed as you slotted your lips together in a wet and sloppy kiss, the sound mostly drowned out by the repeated skin to skin contact, the both of you lost in the feeling of each other.
A groan left him when he felt himself get close to his edge as his thrusts grew sloppier.
“Fuck-” he choked out before you pulled him back into the kiss and with a handful of thrusts, he send himself over the edge, not really caring what the aftermath of him coming inside of you could be and neither did you seem to as he looked at your blissed out face.
You whined slightly when he pulled out, the loss of contact suddenly foreign to your body as you cling to him. He thought it was adorable, but in the back of his mind, the thought of you avoiding him forever sprung up again and even though he tried to push the thought as far away as possible, it kept nagging him.
“So, what are you planning on doing after we get back to the Palace?” you asked and he could feel your fingers trace patterns over his chest and he inhaled sharply at the question.
Hoping you won’t leave, he thought as he smiled down at you.
“Asking the Fabrikators to figure out how to make watertight Keftas, probably, and what about you?”
“Continue my training most likely. Can’t let myself be caught alone in a storm like this on my own with no way to keep warm,” you chuckled.
“No can’t let that happen, can we?”
There fell a comfortable silence over the cave as the rain continued to heavily fall down from the sky, neither of you in any sort of rush to break the peaceful moment, even though his heart was hammering in his chest.
If you had noticed, you had decided not to comment on it, which he was grateful for. It didn’t seem like you were planning to avoid him after this, but the thought wouldn’t stop nagging him and it was bothering him enough that, with every minute that went by, it seemed better of an option to ask you how you really felt about him, despite your very compromising position.
But ultimately, he decided against it. He would definitely cross a line there and with the amount of luck the Saints seemed to have granted him today, he decided he wasn’t going to push it. There was a time for luck and there was a time for things that needed to be thought out, confessing his feelings for you falling under the latter.
And so you remained quietly under the stones until the rain was gone and your clothes had dried enough that you could make it back to the Palace without getting sick.
Confessions could always be made later… and at a better time, Aleksander thought somewhat bitterly, but for now, he was happy he had you in his arms, safe and warm.

Gaza Conflict Stokes 'Identity Crisis' for Young American Jews
Dan Kleinman does not know quite how to feel.
As a child in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, he was taught to revere Israel as the protector of Jews everywhere, the “Jewish superman who would come out of the sky to save us” when things got bad, he said.
It was a refuge in his mind when white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, chanted “Jews will not replace us,” or kids in college grabbed his shirt, mimicking a “South Park” episode to steal his “Jew gold.”
But his feelings have grown muddier as he has gotten older, especially now as he watches violence unfold in Israel and Gaza. His moral compass tells him to help the Palestinians, but he cannot shake an ingrained paranoia every time he hears someone make anti-Israel statements.
“It is an identity crisis,” Kleinman, 33, said. “Very small in comparison to what is happening in Gaza and the West Bank, but it is still something very strange and weird.”
As the violence escalates in the Middle East, turmoil of a different kind is growing across the Atlantic. Many young American Jews are confronting the region’s long-standing strife in a very different context, with very different pressures, from their parents’ and grandparents’ generations.
The Israel of their lifetime has been powerful, no longer appearing to some to be under constant existential threat. The violence comes after a year when mass protests across the United States have changed how many Americans see issues of racial and social justice. The pro-Palestinian position has become more common, with prominent progressive members of Congress offering impassioned speeches in defense of the Palestinians on the House floor. At the same time, reports of anti-Semitism are rising across the country.
Divides between some American Jews and Israel’s right-wing government have been growing for more than a decade, but under the Trump administration those fractures that many hoped would heal became a crevasse. Politics in Israel have also remained fraught, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-tenured government forged allegiances with Washington. For young people who came of age during the Trump years, political polarization over the issue only deepened.
Many Jews in America remain unreservedly supportive of Israel and its government. Still, the events of recent weeks have left some families struggling to navigate both the crisis abroad and the wide-ranging response from American Jews at home. What is at stake is not just geopolitical, but deeply personal. Fractures are intensifying along lines of age, observance and partisan affiliation.
In suburban Livingston, New Jersey, Meara Ashtivker, 38, has been afraid for her father-in-law in Israel, who has a disability and is not able to rush to the stairwell to shelter when he hears the air-raid sirens. She is also scared as she sees people in her progressive circles suddenly seem anti-Israel and anti-Jewish, she said.
Ashtivker, whose husband is Israeli, said she loved and supported Israel, even when she did not always agree with the government and its actions.
“It’s really hard being an American Jew right now,” she said. “It is exhausting and scary.”
Some young, liberal Jewish activists have found common cause with Black Lives Matter, which explicitly advocates for Palestinian liberation, concerning others who see that allegiance as anti-Semitic.
The recent turmoil is the first major outbreak of violence in Israel and Gaza for which Aviva Davis, who graduated this spring from Brandeis University, has been “socially conscious.”
“I’m on a search for the truth, but what’s the truth when everyone has a different way of looking at things?” Davis said.
Alyssa Rubin, 26, who volunteers in Boston with IfNotNow, a network of Jewish activists who want to end Jewish American support for Israeli occupation, has found protesting for the Palestinian cause to be its own form of religious observance.
She said she and her 89-year-old grandfather ultimately both want the same thing, Jewish safety. But “he is really entrenched in this narrative that the only way we can be safe is by having a country,” she said, while her generation has seen that “the inequality has become more exacerbated.”
In the protest movements last summer, “a whole new wave of people were really primed to see the connection and understand racism more explicitly,” she said, “understanding the ways racism plays out here, and then looking at Israel/Palestine and realizing it is the exact same system.”
But that comparison is exactly what worries many other American Jews, who say the history of white American slaveholders is not the correct frame for viewing the Israeli government or the global Jewish experience of oppression.
At Temple Concord, a Reform synagogue in Syracuse, New York, teenager after teenager started calling Rabbi Daniel Fellman last week, wondering how to process seeing Black Lives Matter activists they marched with last summer attack Israel as “an apartheid state.”
“The reaction today is different because of what has occurred with the past year, year and a half, here,” Fellman said. “As a Jewish community, we are looking at it through slightly different eyes.”
Nearby at Sha’arei Torah Orthodox Congregation of Syracuse, teenagers were reflecting on their visits to Israel and on their family in the region.
“They see it as Hamas being a terrorist organization that is shooting missiles onto civilian areas,” Rabbi Evan Shore said. “They can’t understand why the world seems to be supporting terrorism over Israel.”
In Colorado, a high school senior at Denver Jewish Day School said he was frustrated at the lack of nuance in the public conversation. When his social media apps filled with pro-Palestinian memes last week, slogans like “From the river to the sea” and “Zionism is a call for an apartheid state,” he deactivated his accounts.
“The conversation is so unproductive, and so aggressive, that it really stresses you out,” Jonas Rosenthal, 18, said. “I don’t think that using that message is helpful for convincing the Israelis to stop bombing Gaza.”
Compared with their elders, younger American Jews are overrepresented on the ends of the religious affiliation spectrum: a higher share are secular, and a higher share are Orthodox.
Ari Hart, 39, an Orthodox rabbi in Skokie, Illinois, has accepted the fact that his Zionism makes him unwelcome in some activist spaces where he would otherwise be comfortable. College students in his congregation are awakening to that same tension, he said. “You go to a college campus and want to get involved in anti-racism or social justice work, but if you support the state of Israel, you’re the problem,” he said.
Hart sees increasing skepticism in liberal Jewish circles over Israel’s right to exist. “This is a generation who are very moved and inspired by social justice causes and want to be on the right side of justice,” Hart said. “But they’re falling into overly simplistic narratives, and narratives driven by true enemies of the Jewish people.”
Overall, younger American Jews are less attached to Israel than older generations: About half of Jewish adults under 30 describe themselves as emotionally connected to Israel, compared with about two-thirds of Jews over age 64, according to a major survey published last week by the Pew Research Center.
And though the U.S. Jewish population is 92% white, with all other races combined accounting for 8%, among Jews ages 18 to 29 that rises to 15%.
In Los Angeles, Rachel Sumekh, 29, a first-generation Iranian American Jew, sees complicated layers in the story of her own Persian family. Her mother escaped Iran on the back of a camel, traveling by night until she got to Pakistan, where she was taken in as a refugee. She then found asylum in Israel. She believes Israel has a right to self-determination, but she also found it “horrifying” to hear an Israeli ambassador suggest other Arab countries should take in Palestinians.
“That is what happened to my people and created this intergenerational trauma of losing our homeland because of hatred,” she said.
The entire situation feels too volatile and dangerous for many people to even want to discuss, especially publicly.
Violence against Jews is increasingly close to home. Last year the third-highest number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States were recorded since the Anti-Defamation League began cataloging them in 1979, according to a report released by the civil rights group last month. The ADL recorded more than 1,200 incidents of anti-Semitic harassment in 2020, a 10% increase from the previous year. In Los Angeles, the police are investigating a sprawling attack on sidewalk diners at a sushi restaurant Tuesday as an anti-Semitic hate crime.
Outside Cleveland, Jennifer Kaplan, 39, who grew up in a modern Orthodox family and who considers herself a centrist Democrat and a Zionist, remembered studying abroad at Hebrew University in 2002, and being in the cafeteria minutes before it was bombed. Now she wondered how the Trump era had affected her inclination to see the humanity in others, and she wished her young children were a bit older so she could talk with them about what is happening.
“I want them to understand that this is a really complicated situation, and they should question things,” she said. “I want them to understand that this isn’t just a, I don’t know, I guess, utopia of Jewish religion.”
Esther Katz, the performing arts director at the Jewish Community Center in Omaha, Nebraska, has spent significant time in Israel. She also attended Black Lives Matter protests in Omaha last summer and has signs supporting the movement in the windows of her home.
She has watched with a sense of betrayal as some of her allies in that movement have posted online about their apparently unequivocal support for the Palestinians, and compared Israel to Nazi Germany. “I’ve had some really tough conversations,” said Katz, a Conservative Jew. “They’re not seeing the facts, they’re just reading the propaganda.”
Her three children, who range in age from 7 to 13, are now wary of a country that is for Katz one of the most important places in the world. “They’re like, ‘I don’t understand why anyone would want to live in Israel, or even visit,’” she said. “That breaks my heart.”

92-nothing beside remains
Ok but I still need to know if Jon is ok? He's just been severely burned (on the hand no less), got the breath knocked out of him via falling for like a full half-hour *insert I've been falling for 30 minutes meme here* and then nearly choked to death and has probably had a heart attack just from shear stress and anxiety at this point. This boy gonna have so much PTSD if he doesn't already...
And it's still not even the final ;-;
Anyway, this title reminds me of the name of one of the Prentiss episodes but I can't recall what the name actually was and I'm not looking it up rn so on we go!
Is it an americanization to say "nothing besideS remains" instead of "nothing beside remains"? Or maybe southern? Cause the title to me sounds like incorrect grammar. Or potentially wordplay... *shrugs* idk I grew up reading British authors so I don't usually get thrown off by stuff like that, I guess I'm just curious.
Oh, Elias. Is... Elias... Ok? His voice sounds fine but something sounds like it's shaking... His hand?
Ok and now he's just reading a statement. Oh oh, we get an Elias statement! And he's like... More connected to the eye than even Jon is! (According to Jon at least)
Oo another old one!
Mm, he reads it with such fondness.
Eeyyy the lonely! And by the hand of another Lukas. Makes sense.
Ah yes, he's getting caught up in the statement.
Oh! And no hesitation at all afterward. Just launched right into the next sentence.
...how do you know- Elias! Why are you keeping bones in your office!???? Like 100-year-old bones???? Why?
Poor Martin.
Gosh ya, Jon sounds rough. (Did Jonny just like scream for a couple hours before recording or)
Oo audio?? Audio get fuzzy.
"Tingly".............k then
Compelling compelling
Detective? (Is that daisy or basira?)
Oh jeez ya. At least Everyone's getting on the same page?
No, don't stop Elias talking! He knows things!
Ok detective is Daisy. Makes sense.
Oh no. No no Basira don't.
Aw jeez.
They'll DIE if Elias diess?? Aw jeez. Well, I guess that takes murdering Elias and running away out of the picture.
Aw no wait is Daisy part of the institute now too? Or he wants her to be?
Honestly, Tim is a mood through this whole thing. The crisis level has caught up to his anger level and it's balancing out now lol.
Jon sounds so rough man.
The Unknowing again.
Whatwhatwhat? Elias can see everything? Wait should I have known that already?
aahhhhh "am I still human" ): fuskdbdkdjskdhndsjjonjonjonnobabyitsoknonononononoitsokitsok it's ok jon noninonono;-;
Oh ya, the other archivist thing! I'd forgotten about him. I think I thought he was Leitner at the time but obviously, that's not right. I really haven't heard anything about this other archivist, I wonder if he comes back up again?
Mmm, Elias did answer that question immediately... I wonder if he told the truth then?
Gosh, that question tho. I've seen the quote before (and it's always broken me up every time I see it) but I keep being surprised how soon everything is happening. I guess I'm a decent ways in now.
And Elias can resist the compelling.
Ok, but can Jon compel himself and TALK ABOUT HIS GOSHDARN EMOTIONS PLEASE!?
(Also will we ever see Georgie again and will Jon go to the goshdarn hospital, please!! The hand at least needs to be tended to and he better hope it wasn't his dominant hand.)
It's also interesting Elias is rather different than what I'd gathered from fandom. Ya, he's smug and put together but he's not emotionless. Sure he wields the emotions he expresses like a weapon but he's not all cold and calculating like I'd sort of expected from someone so closely aligned with a "ceaseless watcher". Elias doesn't just watch, he's pulling his strings. Not even very subtly though, he's certainly not the most refined manipulator. Just very sure in his power and ready to use that power in clever ways.
(But his hand shook in the silence when he was making that police call. He was afraid of Daisy. Knew he just had to play his cards right but still afraid. Still human. Maybe not as untouchable as he'd like people to think.
Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.)

for the ask meme: 5, 14, 15, 34, 40, 62, 90, 92? :3
thank you :3
5. do you prefer to drink soda from soda cans, soda bottles, plastic cups or glass cups?i prefer not not at all drink soda ew. unless this includes sparkling apple juice in which case i tbh drink it from the bottle most of the time. you know those off brand really cheap 1.5l of sparkling apple juice? hell yeah babeybut all other soda is bad and evil!!1!
14. favorite non-chocolate candy?mentos. that’s bc apart from mentos all non-chocolate candy is disGUSTING! in this house we hate gummibärchen et al.
15. favorite book you read as a school assignment?about a boy by nick hornby (???). BUT. i only liked that book bc me and my friends were allowed to read it instead of the boring book we read in class bc we were the best in that class (english) and the book the class read was boring as fuck so we got our own room and just hung out and talked. about a boy sucked ass tho. can’t remember anything about it.alternatively we also read alice in wonderland, which i loved but we only read the abridged version bc my class was stupid; and also we read the merchant of venice later in advanced english and that was cool bc shakespeare is coolbut tbh mostly we didn’t read any cool books ever :/
34. advertisements you have stuck in your head?carglassalso every time i see a junge sterne ad (used mercedes cars) i go ! bc my dad made that campaign lmao
40. weirdest thing to ever happen at your school?ok so idk whether any of these were *weird* per se, but there are a couple things that stuck in my head?- that one time school was closed bc someone had threatened to come in and shoot people? except nobody knew so we’d all gone to school normally but didn’t get in bc all the doors were locked so some kids broke a window to climb inside and open the doors for us but that didn’t work so we all just hung out. and later it turned out that it had been a hoax- that one time a rescue helicopter landed in the yard??? we all heard the most insane stories about why but still never found out the truth- that one half year where every day the headmaster would go on the PA system to tell us what the weather was like??? even tho we could look outside???- that one time a teacher kept telling this one annoying kid to shut up but he was just trying to explain that the heating unit behind him was leaking and his shoes were getting wet- that one time we were on a class trip with two advanced english classes and the teachers HATED each other so they’d start the day off with drinking??? and then one morning this one guy offered them some “just orange juice” and one teacher takes a big gulp and goes “eh, i’ve had stronger”- that one time someone found out how to get into the school’s wifi (which was staff only) and told everyone. the password was yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy123 (which is typing out the letter y 21 times) (it worked but then the system got overloaded)- the headmaster doesn’t participate in the abischerz anymore (for non-germans: at the end of your time at school your year arranges basically a day of mayhem) bc my year had him get the key to the teachers’ room out of a bowl full of maggots (he deserved it)
62. seven characters you relate to?oof. idk that’s difficult bc i like a lot of characters but i don’t relate to most of them? i just like to project my issues onto them and then treat them better and with more kindness than i treat myself but i’ve never really found a character that i could relate to before i bitchslapped a sad backstory on themso i’m gonna,,,,,,,,, not name any aksdjlfhadf i’m sorry
90. luckiest mistake?hmm lemme ask someone real quick what that even *means*ok so i asked eddy and he doesn’t know and i googled it and google doesn’t know. so. i *think* it’s got something to do with, like, fucking up but being lucky there are no consequences? in that case it’s probably every single time i’ve walked around a bad neighbourhood at night bc i didn’t know the city but wanted to go for a walk. since unfortunately my superpower is to always find the fucking red light district or at the very least a sex toy shop in every city i’m in,,,,, yeah
92. lamps, overhead lights, sunlight or fairy lights?sunlight > fairy lights > overhead lights > lamps
weird asks that say a lot

OC Personality Meme
@pip-n-flinx tagged me (thank you!) ages ago to participate in this and I’m finally going through all my tags.
I’m not sure who has done this already, so I’m just going to say: consider yourself tagged if you want to do this for you OC.
Rules: 1 Go to this website. 2. Choose an OC and take the test for them. 3. Put their stats here.
Avory Shepard - Executive
Mind: 85% Extraverted Energy: 100% Observant Nature: 92% Thinking Tactics: 51% Judging Identity: 75% Assertive
Executive Strengths
Dedicated – Seeing things to completion borders on an ethical obligation for Executives. Tasks aren’t simply abandoned because they’ve become difficult or boring – people with the Executive personality type take them up when they are the right thing to do, and they will be finished so long as they remain the right thing to do.
Strong-willed – A strong will makes this dedication possible, and Executives don’t give up their beliefs because of simple opposition. Executives defend their ideas and principles relentlessly, and must be proven clearly and conclusively wrong for their stance to budge.
Direct and Honest – Executives trust facts far more than abstract ideas or opinions. Straightforward statements and information are king, and Executive personalities return the honesty (whether it’s wanted or not).
Loyal, Patient and Reliable – Executives work to exemplify truthfulness and reliability, considering stability and security very important. When Executives say they’ll do something, they keep their word, making them very responsible members of their families, companies and communities.
Enjoy Creating Order – Chaos makes things unpredictable, and unpredictable things can’t be trusted when they are needed most – with this in mind, Executives strive to create order and security in their environments by establishing rules, structures and clear roles.
Excellent Organizers – This commitment to truth and clear standards makes Executives capable and confident leaders. People with this personality type have no problem distributing tasks and responsibilities to others fairly and objectively, making them excellent administrators.
Executive Weaknesses
Inflexible and Stubborn – The problem with being so fixated on what works is that Executives too often dismiss what might work better. Everything is opinion until proven, and Executive personalities are reluctant to trust an opinion long enough for it to have that chance.
Uncomfortable with Unconventional Situations – Executives are strong adherents to tradition and when suddenly forced to try unvetted solutions, they become uncomfortable and stressed. New ideas suggest that their methods weren’t good enough, and abandoning what has always worked before in favor of something that may yet fail risks their image of reliability.
Judgmental – Executives have strong convictions about what is right, wrong, and socially acceptable. Executives’ compulsion to create order often extends to all things and everyone, ignoring the possibility that there are two right ways to get things done. Executives do not hesitate to let these “deviants” know what they think, considering it their duty to set things right.
Too Focused on Social Status – Executives take pride in the respect of their friends, colleagues and community and while difficult to admit, are very concerned with public opinion. Executives (especially Turbulent ones) can get so caught up in meeting others’ expectations that they fail to address their own needs.
Difficult to Relax – This need for respect fosters a need to maintain their dignity, which can make it difficult to cut loose and relax for risk of looking the fool, even in good fun.
Difficulty Expressing Emotion – This is all evidence of Executives’ greatest weakness: expressing emotions and feeling empathy. People with the Executive personality type get so caught up in the facts and most effective methods that they forget to think of what makes others happy, or of their sensitivity. A detour can be breathtakingly beautiful, a joy for the family, but Executives may only see the consequence of arriving at their destination an hour late, hurting their loved ones by rejecting the notion too harshly.
Notes
Overall, I’d say this is pretty close for Avory. Any focus on organization, order, or bringing together a community is unintentional, but those patterns certainly do arise in her behavior. I wouldn’t describe her as patient. Nor would I say that she is too focused (or focused at all, for that matter) on social status. Any attention she gives to her reputation is solely for work.
#Avory Shepard#thanks for the tag!#finally going through the ones I've received over the last month#the ones I can find anyway
