AvA and AvM Characters and What I Think Their Music Tastes Are
TSC: Generally likes most types of music, but goes weirdly feral for 2000’s/2010’s teen girl music
Red: Has two sides: cute core music and the HARDEST phonk and breakcore, to the point where if the bass doesn’t burst your eardrums, the drum solos will
Yellow: Listens to video game OST’s 90% of the time (helps serve as background noise for longer build projects) but usually defaults to indie rock when passed the Aux
Green: His taste is heavily reliant on his mood, but he holds a soft spot for electro swing
Blue: Jack Stauber and other dreamcore/weirdcore stuff. He says that he just likes the sound, but in reality it’s because nether wart is slightly hallucinogenic and it makes his trips better.
Purple: Classic rock fan and knows the lyrics for basically every Queen song that exists.
Orange: Physically cannot listen to music that isn’t orchestral because he’s a dramatic mother fucker
TCO: Will never tell anyone that he only listens to the soundtracks from Broadway musicals
TDL: “Oh, I listen to these super niche indie artists. I wouldn’t expect you to have heard of them, and I doubt you would like their music anyway” is what he usually says. He is a liar it’s just Bo Burnham and Tom Cardy
Victim: Genuinely prefers silence to any music.

At The Demon Bar, all patrons are welcome as long as they follow the rules and don't cause any trouble. This does include criminals, but plenty of patrons with a good heart come in without fear of getting hurt or robbed due to the bar's strict neutral zone policy. These six are frequent visitors, some of them even lend a hand in enhancing the bar's community and atmosphere.
I cleaned up this page and I'm most of the way through cleaning up the next page, if I have time hopefully I'll be able to post the last two tomorrow
And of course, if you wanna know more about these characters you can read more down below
Rambunctious and chaotic, Felicia’s always up for downing a pint at the bar, beating the crap out of some jerk, or both at the same time (though she has been kicked out a few times for this). She’s a lovable energetic riot with a fierce rage within her thanks to her being half war demon. She's friends with Blain plus two of the members of the bar's staff Karsiffiks and Amaranth. When she's not at the bar or hanging out with friends, she's working at the local mechanic's shop putting her war demon strength to good use.
Blain is a lot more calm reserved than Felicia, mainly because of his night guard job at the town's shopping center. It's tedious and boring work, but it's the closest thing he was able to get for his dream job of being a police officer. Plus him being one quarter ice demon and one quarter shadow demon makes it easy for him to trip up and stop the occasional troublemaking trespasser. Besides coffee, Felicia is his best friend, the two of them being close ever since middle school.
Moppet Felse is a quiet and timid catfolk who works as a tailor. She frequently visits the The Demon Bar to provide her talents on the violin to the bar's electro swing band. She also hosts a small weekly knitting cub during the day when business is slow. She has a very hard time standing up for herself if one of the more dubious patrons tries to mess with her, but just about everyone else agrees that you do not mess with sweet little Moppet.
Talisa is an odd case. She's a chaos demon but her magic can't be controlled directly, instead things tend to just... happen around her. For example every Tuesday poor Quirlos gets smacked by a door if she happens to be around. Besides that, she's a peppy part time worker at The Demon Bar who plays the saxophone in the bar's band if the bouncer Seltic can't play that night.
Rardoqu is a water and poison demon with some hella sick sound mixing skills who got himself a sweet gig in The Demon Bar's band. He loves the Shibuya Punk aesthetic and games from the late 90’s and early Y2K era (think Jet Set Radio, PaRappa the Rapper, or Vib-Ribbon). He mainly plays rhythm games, if there's a vs mode he likes to play against his little brother Kredin, though he usually ends up crushing the poor kid.
The last patron is known as Creepiness or Creepy. He has a real name but he always gets the worst stroke of luck whenever he tries to tell it to someone. It doesn't help that he has a common disorder amongst fear demons known as frozen face syndrome which renders him mute. He also lacks physical limbs, he's only able to pick stuff up or write by manipulating the sleeves of his coat. It really is a shame, he's actually a very nice and friendly guy despite his uncanny appearance.

In celebration of the Animaniacs reboot’s THIRD season coming out soon…
I’m going to list a few things I think the second season of the reboot does better than the first. Here we go:
1. It gave Nora some much needed development. She gets more screen time in general this season, and because of that her character is more fleshed out now. We find out she's a mother and despite the fact that she had previously been established as selfish in season 1, she buys her daughter whatever she wants to compensate for her lack of parenting skills. That doesn't necessarily make her a good mother, but she's clearly trying.
We also find out the reason why Nora's a competitive person and why she mostly only looks out for herself-her upbringing. We're shown that her sisters often belittle and mock her. Not only that but her sisters are twins, so Nora undoubtedly felt like the odd one out amongst her siblings all her life.
There's also her great grandmother Flora Dora, who's is a very successful business woman that Nora looks up to, and it seems like she aspires to be just as successful as Flora Dora. Flora Dora also constantly organizes competitions at family gatherings, something that clearly reinforced if not encouraged her to be a competitive person who's a firm believer in pulling up the ladder behind her.
2. It goes even further with the dark and adult humour than season 1 did. Season 1 had a few instances of characters going from saying hell and had blood onscreen a couple times, and the swear jokes were more blatant than ever, but otherwise was about as adult as Animaniacs usually is. In season 2 we still have blatant swear jokes...AND a character admitting to inc*st, slavery and genocide are mentioned and not sugar-coated at all, Nora straight up mentions doing drugs, Pinky unintentionally committing murder...there's quite a bit of death this season actually, etc. Granted this shouldn't be too surprising because the reboot does have a higher age rating than the original series ('93 was TV-Y, the reboot is TV-PG). Animaniacs is literally more adult than ever (whilst still being a kids show of course) and I am here for it.
3. THE SONGS!!! Season 1's songs were very good, Animaniacs songs usually are, but season 2's music was really, REALLY good! It had a lot of variety too: rock, rap, parody songs, Broadway showstoppers, electro pop, swing, etc. My personal favourites were "Warner's Ark", "I Am The Very Model of an Ancient Roman Emperor", "Magna Cartoon", and "Yakko's Big Idea" (*cough*buy/stream the soundtrack*cough*).
4. The "running gag"/recurring joke of the season was better (there are less reboot jokes). Season 1 was funny, but I gotta admit they ran the whole "this is a reboot of a 90's show" joke into the ground. Like I get that the show is meta but they made that joke every other episode to the point where felt like they were repeating themselves. So I'm glad season 2 dropped that. There are quite a few jokes about and references to "Yakko's World", but 1) They at least tell us something about Yakko as a character by showing how much he values that song and that he seems to canonically be sentimental towards it, and 2) They were more creative with how they would reference it or use it for a joke each time, whereas most jokes about the show acknowledging that it's a reboot in season 1 are essentially just the characters stating "this is a reboot of a 90's show!" over and over again.
Plus bonus things I wanted that aren't necessarily "improvements":
A Plotz Cameo
Assuming that was him and not just an expy or relative of Plotz. If it was him does that mean he's not retired? Is he just an actor now? Either way it was cool to see!
A Wakko Song
I was hoping Wakko would get a song number this season, and he did! ("Gruesome Ol' Gruel"). Maybe we could get a longer one next time though? Like, at least a minute or two? Preferably a rock song please? Honestly I think Wakko has the best singing voice of the three Warners, I just wanna hear him sing more!
A Yakko Solo Segment
...probably should explain this one. You see, in the original show Wakko has SIX stories basically all to himself where his siblings either aren't in it for long or don't appear at all ("Potty Emergency", "Clown ‘n’ Out", "Ups and Downs", "Bingo", "Go Fish", and “Ten Short Films About Wakko Warner”). He even gets another one in the reboot "Wakko's Short Shorts: Now Loading"). Now on it's own I don't mind this, in fact I think it's a good idea for each Warner sibling to get their chance to shine on their own without their siblings every now and again...the problem is that didn't really happen. Other than "Dot’s Quiet Time" (a segment's that basically a song number full of gags) and "Dot’s Poetry Corner" (a series of very short bumpers), Dot only got one story segment, “Cute First (Ask Questions Later)”, and even that took 93 episodes to get to...in a 99 episode series. Great.
Meanwhile Yakko literally only gets to star in a segment on his own if it’s a song ("Yakko’s World", "Yakko’s Universe", etc) or if it’s a one off gag/series of bumpers they’ll only do for one episode ("Useless Facts", "Disasterpiece Theatre", etc). Other than that he has ZERO stories in which he stars by himself without his siblings being present for a lot of it. Admittedly, Yakko was kind of a spotlight stealer in earlier episodes of the original show, so maybe the writers caught on to that and gave the other two solo segments intentionally, but still none of those segments were just him, his sibs were still there. I just would've liked to see Yakko star (mostly or entirely without his siblings) in a segment with a story (not one where the whole segment is a song, not a bumper segment) just once.
So imagine my delight when the reboot not only gave us just that, but also made it an homage to my favourite Looney Tunes short, "Duck Amuck".
"Yakko Amakko" was one the highlights of season 2 to me, plus I loved the ending. He did what Daffy and even Bugs Bunny couldn't do, actually outwit the artist, how awesome is that?!
Many people thought season 2 was better than season 1, and I can see why (I personally like both seasons about the same-I think season 1 is better than season 2 in some areas, but season 2 is better than season 1 in others). There's also little things like Dr Scratchansniff being a recurring character again or how they actually referenced the PatB spin off this season (because correct me if I'm wrong but season 1 never made a direct reference to the spin off) that I almost listed but didn't have too much to say about them. They were neat.
Hopefully season 3 will turn out to be the best season yet!

Do you have any headcanons about the music Sonic and Shadow would listen to?
Hm. These answers might be influenced by the fictives in our system.
I'll start with Shadow first. 100% has like 80's & 90's rock and metal in his playlists. Definitely took abit to warm up to more modern rock and metal but grew to enjoy. Alongside enjoys pop in a way as well but like the pop that has the rock feeling and/or more cutesy feeling. 100% love music boxes. Don't get him started on Vocaloid songs though. He'll go on for hours about all his favorites.
Sonic is a bit harder to say but I feel like he'll enjoy swing and electro swing as well. Alongside that Shadow influenced his interest in rock and metal. Like already a fan of it but Shadow like times it by 10! Pop and rap though for pop he lends more on J-Pop, especially if it has Vocaloid voices like miku for example. Listens to music on the run 100% as well cause it just gives his that needed stimulation and burst of energy!

Deltarune; Music taste HC
another request from @pulsar-ray
characters: spampton, swatch and tasque manager
Spampton G Spampton:
very much likes electro swing and jazz kinda music
likely will listen to 90's hip-hop or pop
i can see him listening to anything upbeat from 60's-90's
on occasion he does have slow tracks saved the ones for the moments with feels
could either name every track/album by an artist he likes off hand or blacks completely when asked directly, no in between.
Swatch:
lofi listener a subscriber/follower of lofi girl all his playlists have at least 1 lofi track but his art/drawing playlist is exclusively lofi mixes
also likes some old 80's rock and pop artists/bands
is the kind of person to have the good elevator music playing in the store
stuff like hyperpop and speed or death metal is too much and frankly over stimulating for him
Tasque Manager:
tencho/alternative beats or acoustics doesnt really like listening to anything else if you suggest a song she goes looking for either a remix or acoustic cover or doesnt listen to it
very particular about the music she listens to and isnt comfortable listening to other artists/bands outside the ones she already does unless its a friend choosing the music, she's chill with that and doesnt mind listening to her friends music taste if theyre already playing something
the only one out of the three that gets irritated by country music. not just doesnt like it its grating, like nails on a chalkboard to her will insist the music gets changed asap
feel free to share your own or send in requests! inbox is always open!

fake type is pretty good ngl i think people just hate on electro swing for no reason - or maybe the early generation of it wasn't great (true)
I can't say much on early electro swing but it not being great just kinda goes for any burgeoning musical genre that's just getting its footing. Everyone's still figuring it out. I love hyperpop but back in the 90's or 2000's it was still really rough and honestly wasn't doing much to make itself unique from simply being scaled up american pop a la Ke$ha and Kate Bush. It took decades into the 2010's for it to really come into its own and in the past few years has really seen a surge in popularity, it's mainstream now and we've got greats like A.G. Cook (who really kickstarted hyperpop as something worth paying attention to and 100 gecs who kicked off this current wave.
A lot of the hate I've seen for electro swing has really just been because it was a meme to hate electro swing. Most of what I've seen has not really been genuine. I like seeing genuine criticism of the genre cause it's refreshing to see someone who's actually listened and thought out their opinions on it- positive or negative- and not just memes.

capsule: FLASH BACK
Besides bringing electro-house to the Japanese mainstream through a number of musical outfits from Perfume to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Yasutaka Nakata has used his own personal vehicle, capsule, to showcase some of his most experimental music. The project began in 2001, when he teamed up with Toshiko Koshijima to make quasi nu-Shibuya-kei music, a genre which had morphed over the course of the 90s from a sample-heavy mish-mash of various musical styles into a sort of quasi-electro-pop sound exemplified by groups like Plus-Tech Squeeze Box and Sonic Coaster Pop. But capsule really only took off when Nakata managed to find his personal style by incorporating more and more house music. In 2005, he released two albums that really cemented his new approach. The following year, he started releasing some of the best music of his career beginning with FRUITS CLiPPER, a wave that he rode for several years, culminating in one of the highlights of the group's run, 2007's FLASH BACK.
FLASH BACK is a short but sweet collection of songs that nearly all sound like top ten hits straight off of the Dance/Electronic charts, starting with the album's title track, a pure adrenaline rush of fast-paced 21st-century technology. The songs see-saws between this type of aggressive house music that relies on mostly instrumentals and vocal samples looping in and out, and the more laid-back structure of classic pop, exaggerated autotune, and the increasing addition of jazzy swings that would mark Nakata's style for years. Not every song works for me personally (actually, I think just "Love Me" is a bit boring), but almost every other song hits like a train, especially "You are the reason" and the dreamy "I'm Feeling You." Nakata would very soon grow out of the pop style for capsule, outsourcing the more traditional structure for other projects while capsule's music became mostly the kind of stuff he could spin during DJ sets. FLASH BACK was one of the last of their albums to incorporate both, and it's a treat to hear that evolution in progress.
This album was released on the same day as MEG’s BEAM, which Nakata had a large hand in producing.
Happy 15th anniversary!

starlight express s/i
Name: Silver “Sylvester” Sky
AKA: the Bar Car
Engine or coach: Coach
Passenger or freight: Passenger
Inspiration: a Superliner II Observation or “Sightseer” lounge car, Bombardier manufactured. These cars were two-level with a wet bar and lounge and large observational windows on the upper floor, and an electric piano and café on the lower floor. (Silver Sky is an actual name of an original California Zephyr dome-top observation car.)
Company: Amtrak
Line: Runs the California Zephyr (Chicago to San Francisco by way of Denver) and Coast Starlight (LA to Seattle) lines.
Characterization: Sylvester embodies a Midcentury or Jazz Age bartender, endlessly sanguine, mellow, entertaining, a good listener. He is a relic of a dying age of passenger train travel and he knows it. He has chosen to think of himself as the last bastion of the 20th century and party like every night is New Year’s Eve at the end of the world, since any day he might be taken out of commission because faster trains mean the train is no longer seen as an experience in and of itself and lounge cars like him are being replaced left and right. Allegorically, he’s a bartender, lounge singer, and piano player, and his signature drink is the Silver, a prohibition-era gin and vermouth cocktail. He’s usually tipsy himself and is sometimes derisively referred to as the ‘drinking car.’ Utterly neutral on racing. Most everyone comes to him to talk, so he knows a lot about everyone. Yet nobody knows almost anything about him. He’d say there’s nothing to know, besides what you see before you.
Headcanon/voiceclaim song: “Diamond Light Boogie” by the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. “This century is ending / It's your last chance to dance to rock 'n' roll! / Diamond Light - turn on, turn on your light / Diamond Light Boogie is sparklin' bright / Shine on, shine your light / Sunglass Sam kept you up all night / Oh yeah, that's right / Bubblegum girls wear their pants too tight / Oh yeah! Let's go! / Let the 21st century roll!”
Associated genres: rock and roll, swing, 90s swing revival, jazz, lounge, space age pop, and electro swing.
Palette and design: Starlight silver and midnight blue with stars, 60s space age/jet set/atomic age elements, art deco pinstripes and wings (resembling the amtrak logo), glitter, and a jaunty cap somewhere between a fedora and a train attendant hat. On top of the usual StEx train costume, his outfit details evoke a 1920s-1940s bartender, a classic train conductor, and for some reason the god Hermes. Also disco balls. Distinctly musical energy. General vibe of a psychopomp and portent of the end times, but carefree about it. Would have silver face paint as part of the costume.
I’ll update this if I get around to drawing him! I’m just really pleased to be able to cram 1) the train lines I’m autistic about 2) the music I’m autistic about 3) the alcoholic tendencies I try not to worry about and 4) myself into one character. I love the vibes on this guy I’m not even gonna lie

Spinel Equivalents of My Diamond Swap AUs
I'm back at this again. I should note that these are Spinel equivalents, not Spinels, because while Pink was a child who needed a playmate, the other Diamonds would need something different. These might be some of my favorite characters in these AUs, since I've actually had them in my head for a while, and their creation was really the point where my AUs started having their own personalities.
Yellow AU
Star Quartz was Yellow Diamond's specially-made bodyguard and chaperone. She based on comic book superheroes, with a cape and star-shaped gemstone on her chest, plus a hammy personality and black-and-white thinking. As a rebellious teenager, Yellow hated being watched by Star Quartz. When she snuck off to disguise herself as Mali Garnet for the first time, Yellow sent Star Quartz on a wild goose chase on Jupiter. Everyone was kind of annoyed by goody two-shoes Star Quartz, and so nobody bothered to go fetch her before the end of the Gem War, which Star Quartz never knew about as she kept up her mission.
It wasn't until she ran into a roaming bunch of Rubies that she was informed as to what had occurred in her absence. Understandably, Star Quartz was furious at being exploited and forgotten by everyone, and so transformed in a supervillain, with an upside-down star, tattered cape, and much darker colors. Star doesn't exactly want to be evil, she just doesn't know what to do with her life in Era 3. Instead of the electro-swing style "Other Friends" her song would be a 90's rock number.
Blue AU
Halite was designed as Blue Diamond's therapist/doctor, but in practice she was more like an exorcist, down to having a cross-shaped gemstone and looking somewhat like a nun. She genuinely wanted to help Blue, but she (and Homeworld as a whole) were ignorant as to how much damage she was doing to her. Halite placed Blue in painful situations, such as being locked in a container filled with cold water, in her attempts to help "cure" her raging emotions. When Blue ran away as Lapis Lazuli, Halite arrived to her pool and waited for her Diamond to arrive... even after six thousand years, since she didn't know what else to do.
Once Era 3 started and most of the Diamonds' property was converted to public spaces, Halite was finally found and informed of what happened. She wasn't bent on revenge at first, but after she informed that her methods were now considered cruel and realized she had hurt Blue so badly, she went nuts. Her gemstone turned from a cross to an X, and she become a demon instead of a nun. Her song would sound somewhat like a church hymn. The source of Halite's madness is more denial than anything, not wanting to admit to herself that she hurt the Gem she cared for so much and instead wanting to blame everyone else to avoid the pain.
White AU
Selenite was White Diamond's tutor who educated White on how to be the perfect Diamond Homeworld wanted her to be. She resembles a Disney Princess, with long hair, a gorgeous dress, and a crown-shaped gemstone on the back of her head. And like a fairy tale princess can be, she is horribly naive: when White expressed concern for lower Gems after her first run as Precious Opal, Selenite outright rejected any notion that things weren't alright in Homeworld. White was so frustrated at Selenite's rejection of reality that she sent her to the oft-forgotten Sparkling Sanctum just so she wouldn't have to deal with her insistent ignorance.
During Era 3, Selenite was found in the Sanctum by a group of Gems who had taken it upon themselves to scour all of known space and inform Gems of the new Era. This was a truly heroic endeavor, but unfortunately, Selenite literally wasn't built to handle the news. When she was told that Homeworld's old ways were considered evil and outdated, Selenite interpreted this as she must be a villain. And thus is born Disney Villain Selenite, with an upside-down gemstone, an updo that would make Lady Tremaine jealous, and the world's most over-the-top villain song.
Don't worry, they all get better

SOMEONE GETS IT
sometimes i'll just throw on a playlist and just absorb the layers of sound. theres the bass, theres two seperate snare drum tracks woah! thats a neat synth section, sick. woah that was an incredible sample they cut that so well
two of my favorite bands for this are (on complete opposite ends of the spectrum) Caravan Palace (electro swing) and Joey valence and Brae (90's rap brought back to life in the 2020s)
Music is actually one of my favorite things in the world, I could go on and on about music, and how beautiful of an art it is, and music theory, and certain musicians and bands, and songs that are so extremely well crafted, and so many other things. It’s just one of my favorite things ever for so many different reasons and I wouldn’t have it any other way

Why I like Spider-Man
"The noblest prey ends the hunt in silent dignity."
"Prey? Silent? Dignity? You don't know me at all."
Spider-Man for me is a very nostalgic character. I watched many of his shows such as Spidey and his amazing friends, the 90's one with the Mary Jane water clone, the ugly-looking one where he is on a planet with animal people with Venom and Carnage, that really dark and depressing one made in CGI where he is hypnotized to push a girl out of a building, and of course, The Spectacular Spider-Man version, which is by far my favorite.
I also tried the ones made by Disney but... Those felt less like Spider-Man shows and more like shows that happened to have Spider-Man in it so they didn't left a huge impact on me.
Then there were the games... The many... Many, so many games...
The Ps1 ones where he fights Electro and a mix of Carnage and Dock. Ock, the Ps2 ones that were based on the movies, the Ultimate one where you play as Venom, and the Friend or Foe where you move like a freaking slug to go from one place to another and had the first trailer for the Spectacular show.
Finally, there were the movies with Tobey, Andrew, and Tom, where each tried to give their own take on what makes Spidey who he is.
There were also tons of comics but... I wasn't really a comics person when I was a kid. It wasn't until later that I would try the Ultimate comics, which I did enjoy.
So yeah, I consumed a lot of Spider-Man content over the years. There is just something about this idea that really grabs me.
First of all, I love the theme of a spider hero, not because I like spiders, but because I just find it so out-of-the-box. He swings through the buildings with webs like Tarzan, he can stick to surfaces, he has an ability that allows him to predict incoming danger, and he is always moving as if gravity was a joke to him.
Spider-Man's powers are just so freaking cool and imaginative!
Aside from that, Spidey was the first time I saw a hero making use of humor in the middle of action. Nowadays joking around in the middle of a fight is everywhere, it's kinda why people love things like "Dragon Ball Z abridged" so much, but back then this was more of a Spidey thing.
To this day I still find web swing to be the coolest form of movement for any character ever. Most heroes usually just fly or use super-speed, but the use of webs is visually much more engaging because of the way it uses momentum to progress. The only thing that would come close to being this cool is Diamondhead's surfing through a city by making diamond ramps on buildings.
It added charm and personality to the moment while also playing around with the thrill and excitement of seeing your hero getting nearly slashed in half just for him to make a joke to alleviate the tension, almost as if he was telling us "Don't worry guys, I got this!" so we can just relax and enjoy the show.
It also taught me that sometimes you need to be able to just embrace the ridiculousness of a situation and not take everything so seriously.
But the final element that I love about Spider-Man, and probably the most important, is that the dude never gives up.
You have no idea how happy I was when I went to see Spider-Verse and the first few lines of the movie included "I get hit a lot, but I always get up in the end!"
This was all I needed to know that this was going to be a version of Spider-Man that I was going to love, because they understood what I liked the most about him.
Struggle is a part of life, and Spidey teaches us that just because sometimes we take a loss (or several) doesn't mean we should stop trying or that we should abandon our values, because in the end there is always something worth fighting for, something worth keeping going.
So basically, to me, what makes a good Spider-Man is one that looks cool in action, that has a good sense of humor, and that shows the value of persisting even in the face of challenge.
My favorite version, like I said, is probably Spectacular Spider-Man voiced by Josh Keaton, but I also really like the version with Andrew Garfield (movie quality aside) as they both just kill it with the jokes and the movement. I love how creative they get with web-based action when doing their fight scenes, you get a real sense of how agile the character is in these incarnations.
But I have to say that Spider-Verse with Miles probably best captures the core theme of not giving up better than all the others with "Leap of Faith" being one of my favorite movie scenes ever, right alongside "Aggie fights."
I'm still waiting for the perfect ideal Spider-Man that will capture everything I love about him at the same time, but until then, I'm more than happy with all the versions we got so far.
