Funny how being stranded together can do that to you
9/2/1990. 11:35pm
Home, Thank God.
So tired. I swear that flight scared me. As the trucker  from the flight said on our drive back, as our plane landed in San Jose, the left wing dipped and we aborted a bit—but then—tried again and we were home.
God I was scared of falling on the flight.  That sickening feeling of death.
But, I was strongly influenced by the movie “Flatliners” that Zoe and I saw in San Diego today. The movie upset us both deeply. After words, Zoe said “I need to be alone.”
The movie screamed out “forgive, listen and understand NOW!   While it’s not too late! Don’t wait for death to forgive yourself and others—to make atonement.
For a bump from a flight that I did not want to take , I got paid $300.00. We all did in our two vans.
Good company. Full moon trip, $300 trip ticket for free, and what’s best, avoiding the horror of a bumpy late afternoon commuter flight from San Jose to Modesto. I was dreading it.
The trucker from the flight was in the same van that I was in.
The trucker’s son is on 10 minute alert at Camp Pendleton and has been for 3 weeks. The trucker is scared for his son. The son says “It’s what Im trained for, Dad.”
The trucker said diesel gas prices are now $1.53 a gallon. Costs $300 to fill his truck which will take him 900-1000 miles. He hauls hazardous materials. He said “Diesel runs in my veins. I love it” His friend in college wanted to be a public defender. “You like it, don’t you?” He asked me. I replied “Yes, but you gotta be a special kind of person. You gotta know how to take care of yourself It runs in my veins."
Also on board are the trucker’s wife, spiritual advisor and a  history major out of Oregon who had long, red hair.
We got along so well that the van driver thought that we were old friends.
We commented that if we were on a plane, we would not speak to each other.
But, thrown awkwardly into a van, we were for the length of the journey equals and comrade in arms. Funny how being stranded  together can do that to you. Funny. People really are good. Just takes the right circumstances to bring them out.
Note:
In the above entry ,I had been visiting my sister Zoe in San Diego. I took a flight from San Diego to San Jose. Apparently there was supposed to be a connecting flight from San Jose to Modesto. But, it must have been over booked, so, so some of us got a van ride and free airfare instead.
Interesting that Zoe and I watched Flatliners then. It is a movie about what happens to you after you die.
Before Zoe did die last May she had ordered two movies on DVD about life after death which she never got to watch. Maybe it's because she watched Flatliners in 1990 and she didn't need to see the others just before she died.

The Eddie Polls
Hi, and welcome to The Eddie Polls, aka Battle of the Eddies. So, there are four heavily popular fictional characters named Eddie. So, I figure, why not see which one is the overall fan favorite through a week-long poll? (Eddie Diaz and Eddie Kaspbrak, I apologize in advance, for this does not bode well for either of you with I have you up against).
Think long and hard before making your final decision, and pick wisely, for there's no going back.
This should be fun...

I looove cas challenges, and I've been particularly enamored with these where you roll or pick attributes based on something about yourself, I also love vampires so I combined the two! The only rule is to have fun! Also, you don't HAVE to pick attributes based on yourself, you're entirely welcome to randomly roll for those too! Use the tag #ht: vampcas to showcase your creations!

Émilie (born Émilie Genevieve Mary Graham de Vanily; 15 August 1962 — 15 March 2004) was a British fashion model who began her career as an actress. She has been regarded as one of the most accomplished and influential models of the 1980s and 1990s, and has been featured in over 800 magazines, including La Mode, Style Queen, and the eponymous Émilie. As heiress to Graham de Vanily Film Productions, she made her acting debut in the 1974 film The Diamond Lady. Émilie went on to star in Andre Bourgeois's Solitude (1979) before signing with Elite Model Management and attracting attention in her runway debut at the Paris Fashion Week SS1979 for Maison de Mode Gabriel [1].
Émilie was one of the most famous women in the world throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and is primarily known for her collaboration with the fashion designer and her husband Gabriel Agreste [2][3]. On occasion, her ubiquity as a fashion icon and symbol for women's growing autonomy in the 1980s has led to her being compared to the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana of Wales [4][5][6][7]. Her early and unexplained death in 2004 at the age of 42 further drove these comparisons across various news outlets [8][9][10].
In 2005, she was posthumously awarded "Greatest Female Supermodel of All Time" by viewers of the French television show Le Monde de La Mode. This gendered distinction was implemented that year to accommodate for repeat winner Adrien Agreste, who was awarded "Greatest Male Supermodel of All Time" that same year at the age of 15 [11].

What kind of car do you drive?
September 4, 1990
(I had been assigned 6 preliminary hearings for September 4, 1990 by my Stanislaus County Public Defender office supervisor. The following is the result of my questioning of officers on the witness stand in one of them. )
The preliminary hearing Deputy District Attorney saddled up beside me and said that if I insisted on conducting my hearing in the manner I had been conducting it in that I “would get more speeding tickets. I hope that you drive 55mph. What kind of car do you drive? The officers really did say this. I just won’t tell you their names.”
So, I put it on the court record. My purpose was to say “Hey, I’m just doing my job. I don’t appreciate threats that punish me for doing it.”
(I try where and when I can to be reasonable)
I’m on my own on this one.
I just felt basic bottom line violation which I calmly revealed. My mood moved from anger at having been assigned 6 preliminary hearings for one day to happy acceptance.
Good support system tonight in this crisis and happy time: Mom, Dan, Mary (my brother and his wife), Chase, Bearnie,  and Daffney, three fellow deputy public defenders, a gay friend, and Mike , a court Spanish interpreter.
End of this part of the entry
Note:
In 1990, I was a deputy Public defender for Stanislaus County.
A preliminary hearing is a middle hearing in a felony case in which the state has to put on enough evidence for the judge to entertain a strong suspicion that a crime was committed and that the defendant committed it. I must have be aggressive in my questioning of the officers during the preliminary hearing September 4, 1990. I was told to back off or I would be ticketed in the future.

The Audio-Video (A/V) Preservation Lab at the National Archives đź“Ľ
Tumblr media
The Audio-Video (A/V) Preservation Lab provides appropriate digital products for National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) audio and video collections.
Join us to learn a little bit more about our work in this thread for #AskAConservator! 🧵📼
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Audio and video records arrive to the lab to be digitized for preservation and access. One of the formats that we see most frequently is 1/4” audio. Sometimes we need to splice leader onto the heads or tails of a 1/4” reel in order to capture all of the content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is what audio looks like once it has been digitized for preservation. Sometimes we bake tapes before playback to reverse the effects of sticky shed or soft binder syndrome. We also work on newer formats like miniDiscs which were popular during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
When we digitize a videotape we use additional tools like test signals, time-base correctors, waveforms and vectorscopes to ensure that the color and brightness levels are correct.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the formats that we digitize regularly is VHS video. We have seen these tapes range in run time from as little as 2 minutes to as long as 9 hours!
Sometimes we need to rehouse videotapes into new cassettes in order to successfully play them back. Typically we clean tapes before we play them back as well. Here are a couple images of one of our Umatic or 3/4-inch cleaners.
Thank you for your interest in the Audio-Video Preservation Lab at NARA! We hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about the work that we do!

Numerology by Novy
Tumblr media
There are multiple numbers in your birthday. The most common ones being the day of the month you were born and your life path number. These two are the strongest numerical energies within you/your life (especially the life path number) but you also have other numbers too
Tumblr media
Your Life Path #
Your life path number is the strongest numerical energy in your birthday and reveals your purpose. It can be calculated by adding your birthday numbers together then reducing them. The only time you don’t reduce them is if the total adds to 11, 22, or 33 because those are master numbers. There are also other special numbers other than master numbers that would have both the reduced energy and non reduced energy - 19, 28, etc
Some Examples:
• Alexa Demie born Dec 11 1990 is a life path 6 (December is the 12th month - 1+2+1+1+1+9+9=24-2+4=6)
• Albert Einstein born March 14 1879 is a life path 33 (March is the 3rd month - 3+1+4+1+8+7+9=33)
• Drake born on October 24 1984 is a life path 31/4 (October is the 10th month - 1+2+4+1+9+8+4=31-3+1=4)
Your Unreduced Life Path #
Your true life path number is calculated the same way as your regular one just not reduced. It can tell about a significant age in your life
Some examples:
• My mom’s true life path number is 31 and that’s the age she had me - which is extremely significant because duh it’s me ;)
• My true life path number is 17 and at 17 I learned about astrology which changed my life
Your Day of the Month #
The day of the month in which you were born is the second most important numerical energy in your birthday and reveals how to fulfill your purpose. You also must reduce this number as well unless it’s a master number
Your Attitude # (Month + Day)
Your talent number can tell about your talents and just other numerical energy you have in general. It’s calculated by adding both your birth month and birth day together
Some Examples:
• Druski born September 12 has a talent number 3 (9+1+2=3) which is the number of comedy and he’s a comedian who’s also known for being funny online
• Adriana Lima born June 12 has a talent number 9 (6+1+2=9) which is the number of extreme beauty which is why she makes such a great model
Your Month + Year #
This is another numerical energy in your birthday that can be calculated by adding both your birth month and year
Example:
• Jacob Elordi was born June 1997 and his is 5 (6+1+9+9+7=32-3+2=5) and 5 is the number of societal beauty. He is considered conventionally attractive. This is also the number of entertainment and he’s an actor
Your Birthday Month #
The month you were born is under looked and very important to check as well
Example:
• Theo Von is considered very funny to many people but has no 3 energy (the number of comedy) in his day number or life path however he is born in the 3rd month of the year
Your Birthday Year #
The year you were born can tell about your numerical energy as well
Some Examples:
• Marilyn Monroe born in 1926 a 9 year (1+9+2+6=18-1+8=9) was known for her acting and 9 energy indicates a talented actor
• Olivia Rodrigo was born in 2003 a 5 year (2+3=5) which is the number of entertainment and she’s a singer. It’s also the number of societal beauty and she’s considered to be attractive to society
Your Personal Year #’s
Your personal years tell what the theme of your year will be like. You have a new personal year number annually. The energy begins on your birthday and ends on your next birthday, so if your birthday is later in the year you’re not going to feel the energy as heavily until the following year, but you still will calculate it the same way. You find it by adding your birth month, birth day, and the current year
Examples:
• If your birthday is on January 1st, to find the theme of 2025 you would add 1 (cuz january is the first month) with the rest of the numbers (1+1+2+0+2+5=11) this would make 11 your personal year number for 2025 if you were born on January 1st. 11, 22, and 33 are master numbers, so if your total is one of these numbers you don’t reduce
• If your birthday is December 29th and you wanted to know the theme of 2024 for you, your 2023 personal year number would actually be more indicative of what 2024 is like for you since the energy begins on your birthday
Tumblr media
Regular Month #
These aren’t as strong as universal month numbers, but are still important. To find this energy you simply reduce the month number
Example:
• January is the first month so it will have 1 energy. People will get into more fights, have more confidence, create new things, and work much harder during this month. This applies to October as well since it’s the 10th month and reduces to 1 (1+0=1)
Universal Month #
Add the current month to the current year to get the universal month number. This tells the energy of the month similar to the regular month number, but this is more powerful
Example:
• If you wanna know the energy of October 2024 you add 1+0 to 2+0+2+4 since October is the 10th month. Making October 2024 have 9 universal energy for everyone
Universal Year #
This is calculated by reducing the year and can tell the main theme of the worlds year in general
Examples:
• 2023 was a hard year for peoples health, good for gaining knowledge, and good for becoming more spiritual since 2023 reduced (2+0+2+3) is 7
• 2024 is a very karmic year and a year everyone will be receiving their bad karma if they’ve been a bad person since 2024 reduced (2+0+2+4) is 8. It is a good year for money making though

Your Letterology
Your name also has numerical energy in it. Each letter equals a number in letterology. You can use your birth name or nickname to find your energy. What people call you holes the most energy in my opinion. The letters go in order a=1, b=2, c=3, d=4, etc. There’s also capital letters that begin with A=27, B=28, C=29, D=30, E=31, and so on
Example:
• (Marilyn Monroe) Marilyn = 11, Monroe = 8, Marilyn Monroe = 1. Marilyn Monroe also has 13 letters in it and M is the 13th letter. 8, 11, and 13 are all fame numbers. 1 represents leadership which is why she’s one of the number one most famous people that ever lived

Hi-Lo Arthuriana
Have a high interest in Arthurian Legend but low readability?
Here's a collection of adapted or abridged books to help ease you into the literary tradition. This list is ordered from simplest to most complex, beginning with picture books and ending with "translations" of Middle English texts into modern English or abridged versions of longer texts such as the Vulgate. Books in a series are numbered.
As always, if the book is still in print, I link to the Internet Archive to read, Goodreads to learn more, or where you can purchase. Supporting living authors is very important! Otherwise, enjoy a PDF, on me, to keep the legacy of these authors alive.
