[👾]🎤📖🎸🏹🤸🏼‍♂️🌈 I was saddened to learn that character actor Art LeFleur recently passed away. One of my favorite movies, 1985’s Zone Troopers, kind of a cross between a WW2, sci-fi, and comedy film, has him as “Mittens,” the American GI who KOs Hitler in a hilarious scene. I first watched this film years ago on a day I got snowed in and couldn’t make it to work (I think my car got stuck in the snow), and after I finally gave up and got turned around and made it home, cold and wet, I found this gem on Netflix. Coincidentally, it was written by Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo, who would later go on to write the script for The Rocketeer (1991), my favorite movie of all time, and you can tell in the dialogue, the era, the feel. It’s no longer on Netflix, but you can find it on Amazon and Youtube if you look. Hope you get to deck Hitler again in the afterlife, Art 👊🏽 RIP 🪦 #zonetroopers #artlefleur #ww2movies #80smovies #80sbmovies #dannybilson #pauldemeo #therocketeer https://www.instagram.com/p/CWjwdkYDStR/?utm_medium=tumblr

Pieces (1984) When a Boston college starts losing its students to ghoulish murders. A local police force must do everything they can to catch the killer before he completes his grisly human puzzle! Pieces has been on my list for a while, and it’s tagline ‘you don’t have to go to Texas for a chainsaw massacre’ sold it to me! What I got was a pretty fun film in fairness. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in over the top deaths! Saying that, the film has its moments... both good and bad! I enjoyed the moments of genuine craziness, the start with the kid, the ending and a couple of times throughout. There’s too many times you find yourself laughing to take it seriously though, when a woman is randomly attacked by a martial arts professor in the night and runs away saying it was because he had some bad chop suey... it’s all downhill from there! Whilst it made it funny to watch I’m not sure that’s the aim of the film! The acting is very dramatic and at times is really over the top, it’s not going to win any awards, but as an 80’s b movie no one expected it to! The soundtrack is decent and ties some of the scenes together well, sometimes bridging some rather uninteresting dialogue! I’d have liked to have seen a bit more logic in the film, there’s some areas that defy all logic and can be laughable, the dialogue leaves a lot to be desired and could have been a lot stronger to piece together some of the story and give it some depth into the villain or characters which it fails to do. Overall, Pieces is a typical 80’s slasher B movie. It’s over the top, a little bit crazy, laughable a times and completely bonkers. If you’re looking for a new chainsaw flick to get your hands on I’d give it a watch! Presented by @arrowvideo in 4K the transfer is clean and a great copy! The limited edition comes with a collectors booklet, hard cover, CD and poster (not pictured) swipe to see the edition here! #Pieces #Pieces1984 #PiecesMovie #PiecesReview #PiecesMovieReview #Pieces1984Review #Omareviews #80sMovie #BMovie #80sBMovie #ArrowVideo #ArrowVideoReview #CultClassic #CultMovie #80SCult #80sHorror #HorrorMovie #HorrorFilm #CultHorror #LockdownReviews #LimitedEdition https://www.instagram.com/p/CAh96malZWE/?igshid=7hd7p8mhtk6j

Def-Con 4 (1985) 2 months after world war 3, Howe, Jordan and Walker are forced to come down from a space station to earth. They must try and survive after being captured and make a life of a somewhat inhabitable planet. Def-Con 4 wasn’t all that bad actually! Despite being nothing like it’s cover art or promotional material that is! It isn’t the first to do so and probably won’t be the last though. The storyline of Def-Con 4 is flimsy, and leaves a lot to be answered for and it’s pretty consistent in that throughout, but it does have a main narrative that it sticks to, which is escape on a boat, and that about wraps it up. Part of the ‘Canuxploitation’ cinema it was clutching at straws trying to cash in on the Post Apocalypse era but kinda missed the boat. It’s effects and certain shots however are quite good at times and the film by no means leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It’s watchable, but as with Dead End Drive In, it just doesn’t offer a whole lot, even when there’s stuff going on it still manages to be somewhat flat. It’s a strange mix that combines some concentration camp dictatorship with Mad Max and a sci fi low budget Rambo... but the soundtrack is good! Chris Young who worked on Hellraiser, Drag Me to Hell and Pet Semetary is here and present on this with an atmospheric score that I can’t pick fault with! Overall, Def-Con 4 is a decent watch, just don’t read too much into the cover art or the story. Take it for what it is, which is average throughout and enjoy a flimsy story of bad heroes from space! #DefCon4 #DefCon4Review #ArrowVideo #ArrowVideoReview #Omareviews #PostApocalypse #80sMovie #80sBMovie #BMovie #Canuxploitation #ChristopherYoung #SciFi #SciFiApocalypse #BMovieReview https://www.instagram.com/p/B63T2BQlw1_/?igshid=oswqdrkqydxw
