Day seven hundred forty one 741 Oricorio Pom-Pom Style

@Bowknot_Huhu on Twitter is selling Trigger Happy Havoc/SDR2 Danganronpa/Pokemon trading cards! These include both cards featuring the characters with a Pokemon partner, and cards that feature each character on their own. You can purchase a randomized pack of 4 for ¥60 (about $8), or you can buy the whole 55-card set for ¥825 (about $115).

You can purchase them on Bowknot's taobao here, or read more about it on their Weibo! Please keep in mind that the posts are all in Chinese, so you may want to ensure you have some translation software handy if you don't already know ho to read it some. These are selling through December!

Please note that, to my knowledge, these aren't official cards. They're just really, really good. Enough so that I'm selling out for them.

Bowknot also very kindly gave me permission to post the high quality images of the cards that they posted to Twitter, so I've gone ahead and pasted the girls with their Pokemon partners (since I couldn't fit everyone). Due to the sheer number, they will be under the cut! (I've also included the name and Pokedex number of each character's Pokemon partner!)

Mahiru has a Dedenne (#701), Mikan has a Galarian Corsola (#222), and Peko has a Honedge (#679) (There's also a Gengar and a Gastly hanging out back there!).

Ibuki has a Toxtricity (#849), Sonia has a Diancie (#719), and Akane has a Snorlax (#143).

Chiaki has a Sylveon (#699), Hiyoko has a Sensu Style Oricorio (#741), and Jack has a Banette (#354). (Note that Toko is not present in the set with Pokemon partners!)

Kyoko has an Espeon (#196), Sayaka has a Jigglypuff (#39), and Hina has a Vaporeon (#134).

Sakura has a Riolu (#447), Celestia has a Gothitelle (#576), and Mukuro has a Bisharp (#624).

Let’s Talk About Pokemon - Oricorio

741: Oricorio

More birds? More birds. Here we have Oricorio, a 4-in-1 Pokemon with different forms based on different dancing styles and one for each Alolan island. Based on which nectar the Oricorio feeds on, it will swap forms as well as typing.

First off we have the Electric/Flying Oricorio based on cheerleading with little pom-pom wings and indeed a pretty cheery cry. Not my first choice for dancing Pokemon but it is a fitting high-energy dance for an Electric type.

We then have the Psychic/Flying Pau Oricorio. Yeah, don't think we could've gotten away through a Pokemon game set in a Hawaiian region and not have a hula-dancer somewhere in there. I feel like it's my least favorite simply because it's the most painfully predictable of the four. Of course, being white as white can be, I can't really offer a concrete say on how tasteful the representation of native islander culture it is. Thank god it doesn’t have a coconut bra.

Next we have the Fire/Flying Baile form. A stylish black and red color scheme combined with a rad dressy look to it with an overall flamenco theme. This one easily winning out as my favorite of the bunch with the lovely feather-dress look. Appropriately with a feisty-looking personality to fit in with being Fire type.

Second-favorite goes to Sensu Oricorio, becoming a Ghost/Flying type based on a Japanese fan dance. The prettiest of the forms, but not quite the most stylish. Still a nice look for it with a cool color scheme to do with it.

Personal Score: 7/10

A neat idea. Some fun execution. Not bad, overall. I’ll give em all collectively a 7/10.
