Arajet Boeing 737 Max 8 as seen departing Princess Juliana Int’l Airport in St. Maarten. The Boeing 737 MAX is the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, a narrow-body airliner manufactured by Boeing. It succeeds the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG) and competes with the Airbus A320neo family. The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs, with more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B engines, aerodynamic changes, including its distinctive split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications. The new series was announced on August 30, 2011. It took its maiden flight on January 29, 2016 and was certified by the United States FAA in March 2017. The 737 MAX series has been offered in four variants, offering 138 to 204 seats in typical two-class configuration and a 3,300 to 3,850 nmi (6,110 to 7,130 km) range. The 737 MAX 7, MAX 8 and MAX 9 are intended to replace the 737-700, -800, and -900 respectively, and a further-stretched 737 MAX 10 is available. 🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬🛫🛬 🛩 Aircraft Manufacturer: @boeing. 🛩 Aircraft Type: B737 Max-8. 🛩 Aircraft Registration: HI1027. 🛩 Company: @arajetairlines. 🛩 Destination: SXM-SDQ. 📍 Location: @sunsetbeachbarsxm | TNCM | SXM. 📆 Date: 12/20/2022. 📸 Photo Captured by: © Franklyn Wilson | @beeksphotos. 🛬 🛫 www.linktr.ee/beeksphotos 🛫 🛬 #avgeek #tncm #sxm #instagramaviation #ilivewhereyouvacation #instagood #teamaviation #aviationlovers #travel #avporn #instagram #aviationphotographyphotos #sintmaartenphotographer #sxmphotographer #planespotting #commercialjet #flightattendant #passionpassport #canonphotography #aviationphotography #arajet #arajetairlines #dominicanwings #boeinglovers #boeing #b737max #boeingmax8 #hi1027 #12202022 #beeksphotos (at Maho Beach, Philipsburg, St Maarten) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnzCKi4OgKN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

N915AK, one of Alaska's Boeing 737 MAX9s, sits at the gate at Concourse C awaiting its final loads. You can't tell from my photo, but this is the Seattle Kraken 737. It's immediately apparent from the front just how much bigger the LEAP 1B engine is on the MAX compared to the CFM56-7 used on the 737NGs. The LEAP 1B has 18 carbon-fiber reinforced polymer fan blades compared to the 36 titanium fan blades on the CFM56-7. Resin transfer moulding (RTM) was used to produce the LEAP 1B fan blades which is basically forming and curing the carbon fiber in a mould under moderate pressure with resin and other curing compounds "injected" into the mould. The 18 LEAP 1B blades weigh a total of 168 lbs where as the 36 titanium blades used on the CFM56-7 weigh a total of 330 lbs. As the LEAP 1B blades are lighter (but each blade is strong enough to support the weight of a 787 Dreamliner!), this means there is less kinetic energy to manage in a blade-out situation and as a result, the fan blade containment structure can be made lighter, further reducing the weight of the engine. The LEAP 1B's fan containment case is 30% lighter and is made of carbon fiber compared with the aluminum/carbon fiber containment case used on the CFM56. The complex 3-D shape of the LEAP 1B fan blades reduces the noise from the front of the engine caused by fan rotation. #avgeek #aviation #airlines #aircraft #planeporn #SEA #Seattle #SeaTac #Washington #airport #planespotting #instaplane #Boeing #737 #MAX9 #Alaska #AlaskaAirlines #N915AK #instagramaviation #splendid_transport #instaaviation #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #flight #AvGeeksAero #AvgeekSchoolofKnowledge #AvGeekNation (at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeU6K25MhC9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Flydubai swings to profit as travel industry rebounds and economic recovery picks up
Flydubai, the sister airline of Emirates, swung to profit in 2021, as passenger numbers grew on the back of the easing of travel restrictions and improving economic conditions worldwide.
The airline posted a Dh841 million ($229m) profit in 2021, compared with a Dh712.6m loss in 2020, when the travel industry was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Annual revenue grew 86 per cent to Dh5.3 billion last year as passenger numbers rose 76 per cent to 5.6 million, flydubai said on Monday.
“The tremendous results flydubai is reporting for 2021 come after a very challenging two years as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed.
“The decisions taken by the UAE’s leadership, which saw the implementation of the precautionary safety measures throughout the customer journey, gave visitors the confidence to travel to Dubai; resulting in a 76 per cent year-on-year increase in passenger numbers.
“We remain well placed to continue to welcome passengers across our network to Dubai and beyond, flydubai is intrinsic to Dubai’s travel and tourism industry.”
The number of flights surpassed pre-pandemic levels in December 2021, when the airline operated 6,430 flights, compared with 5,701 flights in January 2020.
Flydubai launched 22 new routes in 2021, 13 of which were unserved destinations from Dubai.
The top 10 busiest routes for scheduled flights were Alexandria, Bahrain, Bucharest, Doha, Karachi, Kathmandu, Male, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv and Zanzibar.
It also flew to five additional destinations in summer to meet demand on the routes.
“A challenge that remained throughout 2021 was the constant changes to the travel restrictions. This meant that passengers did not have the confidence to book travel early. However, they continued to travel with a shorter booking window ahead of their date of travel,” said chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith.
“During the second half of the year, travel restrictions began to ease, which led to an increase in demand for travel across our network. We launched flights to seasonal summer destinations to offer more options for passengers, and the increase in our flight schedule in the second half of the year supported the demand for inbound travel to Dubai.”
Dubai hosted 7.28 million international overnight visitors between January and December 2021, up 32 per cent a year, according to Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
International visitors to the emirate crossed 3.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, which was 74 per cent of the total tourist arrivals in the same period in 2019.
Flydubai expanded its fleet last year to 59 aircraft, including 34 Boeing 737–800 planes, 22 Boeing 737 Max 8 jets and three Max 9s.
The Max rejoined the airline’s fleet in April after the UAE lifted a 23-month safety ban on the jet in February 2021.
In July, the airline also reached an agreement with Boeing to reduce its orders placed in 2013 and 2017 by 65 aircraft.
Flydubai had received 25 aircraft as of December 31, with another 161 aircraft due for delivery. From March 2022, flydubai will take delivery of 20 jets from the 737 Max 8 family, which will be used across the network to “support the airline’s future growth”, the airline said.
Last year, flydubai completed the financing requirements for 13 Max aircraft and two Leap-1B engines by sale and leaseback to support aircraft deliveries.
“During 2022, we will see the largest number of aircraft delivered in any year since the launch of the airline. As the momentum for travel continues to build, we will increase frequencies and introduce new destinations on our network during 2022. To support this growth trajectory, we will need to recruit the best people in the industry,” Mr Al Ghaith said.
The airline plans to hire 900 more employees in 2022, including cabin crew, pilots and engineers, as it increases capacity, he told The National at the Dubai Airshow last year.
Global passenger traffic is on track to rebound to pre-pandemic levels by 2024, with the outlook unchanged by the Omicron coronavirus variant, but the Russia-Ukraine conflict poses near-term risks, the International Air Transport Association said last week.
The number of travellers is expected to reach four billion in 2024, more than double the number recorded in 2019, before the onset of the pandemic, the industry body said.
“With the lifting of restrictions across our network and increasing demand for travel, we are cautiously optimistic about the year ahead notwithstanding the geopolitical situation and its potential effect on the pricing of commodities,” Mr Ghaith said.

The announcement comes a day after the upcoming ultra low cost carrier said it would buy 72 Boeing 737 MAX planes from Boeing Co.
With this purchase and services agreement, Akasa Air will have from day one of its operations an innovative and comprehensive maintenance programme delivered by CFM, the airline said in a statement.
The pact was signed with CFM at the ongoing Dubai Airshow. The deal, which includes spare engines and long-term service agreement, is estimated to be worth $4.5 billion at list price.

Three of the many Boeing 737MAX aircraft in open storage at Boeing Field- this is an employee parking lot between East Marginal Way and the Duwamish Waterway. The aircraft furthest from me is GOL Airlines MAX-8, PR-XMH. The two United Airlines aircraft are both MAX-9s, N37516 and N27515. The MAX-8 is the equivalent of the 737-800 and the MAX-9 is similar to the 737-900ER. Compared to its equivalent 737NG, the MAX is about 3000 kg heavier on account of CFM LEAP-1B engines which are heavier than the NG’s CFM56s as well as the structural strengthening needed in the engine pylons, wings, fuselage and landing gear. On the upside, the structural strengthening to accommodate the new engines gives the MAX compared to its direct NG counterpart about 3175 kg more payload. #avgeek #aviation #aircraft #planeporn #KBFI #BFI #Seattle #BoeingField #Washington #airport #planespotting #instaplane #Boeing #737 #UnitedAirlines #N37516 #N27515 #GOL #PRXMH #instagramaviation #splendid_transport #instaaviation #aviationlovers #aviationphotography #flight #AvGeeksAero #AvgeekSchoolofKnowledge #AvGeekNation (at Boeing Field) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6rmUedhCFW/?igshid=110p2lcsloj4r
