So got curious and tried That 90s Show despite the shit reviews. I gotta give they nailed ‘90s’: Kitty’s decor, 70s holdover hair do, white trash moms, etc. the 4th of July was such a deal back then, i just figured it was rural not 90s.
Donkey Kong was a fail tho (graphics were 10 years too advanced). And i maintain (as i was in rural hell in the 90s) no small town in Wisconsin would have that much diversity then…or now. I mean its more likely now but unheard of back then (our shit town started gossiping about latinos coming to town, there were like 3 of them and they were all presumed Mexican but i dont think they were. Same with an asian family. No other poc dared fuck up to live there.)
And trust me: no kid would dare be openly gay in places like that back then (where i was living then regularly STILL steals pride flags and destroys them yes 2023. I was constantly assumed gay cuz no guys wanted me and i was lucky it was just being ostracized, not violence). The gay kid makes me think of Bobby Lee playing gay and its…odd. Like they just picked another ethnic kid to fey up and talk weird without being a full character.
Im glad no Hyde (fuck that rapist) but i think they should have mentioned him. I presume Gwen is his bastard child given the no longer would fly half black story line. I also wish they would’ve acknowledged Fez had been Laurie’s green card husband. Laurie should be features on Unsolved Mysteries. I cant believe parents (even ones thinking of her as evil) would just forget she existed or was missing.
And why did Fez go back to high voice? And why have they not explained wtf they’re still calling him Fez? Wilmer is creepy and looked high as a kite i dont really know why they brought him back.
Kitty and Red are delightful. Perfectly costumed and portrayed. Loved Leo! And Ashton and Mila seem to be having the time of their lives. Leia and Jay are perfectly cast as their parents kids. And if Gwen is one then her too.
Im sorry i dont believe a rrriot girl would go to a rave. There are a lot of plot holes. Frankly Nate and Gwen dont seem straigjy and Leia seems like shes way more into Gwen than Jay.
But Jay seems like a good character. Kelso is right he got his mom’s brains cuz Kelso was waaay too dumb. And they dealt with Jackie and Fez but not Fez and Laurie or even weirder Kelso’s other baby? I hate when these retcon shows just pick the most random shit to keep (like Conners kept Harris and Crystal’s kids but Andy and Jerry dont exist…maybe…jerry gets one shout out.)

As someone who works with highschool students, around 15/16 years of age, I've come across a conundrum when it comes to books. Just a disclaimer, I'm not an educator.
So one of the kids at work is reading 2 books for their class, the Kite Runner and Kindred. Kite Runner is written by Khalid Housseini and is a critique of the western ignorance of Afghanistan, Afghanistan's ethnic castes between the Pashtun and Hazara, the class divide in Afghanistan, American racism and capitalist hell, and the Afghani problem with pedophile warlords. The Kindred is by a black woman author named Octavia E Butler, and it is about modern day race relations, the depth of hopelessness and trash treatment slaves were subject to, even free ones, what it really means to be a black woman in the 70s and 1840s, racial ignorance, etc etc
So we were chatting and this kid and their friends, and even a few of my peers, remarked on how there was a lot of sexual violence in these two books and that they weren't good reading material either way, which made me kinda side eye them
Housseini writes a compelling narrative from the point of view of the antagonist. This boy ruins his friend's life on the lines of everything I mentioned about the book above to the point that 40 years later, his friend's son is feeling the consequences of it. It's literally one of the easiest to understand ways to present dark but real world topics to kids aged 15/16. It's not even graphic at all except for one part where the son is made to dance suggestively (which is a real practice to sexually exploit young boys in Afghanistan by military lords called Bacha Bazi) and even then it lasts a page if not less.
There's something similar in the Kindred, because the main character and most reoccurring women have experienced some form of sexual violence due to being black women in a deeply racist time among people who view them as barely subhuman. It's still used skillfully, the main antagonist is painted as the nicest he could possibly be under the circumstances and he truly thinks that by tying this woman to him, he could improve her life. He is a white man who owns a plantation and comes from money, and in his eyes he is being extremely generous by offering to marry the woman and free her from slavery. It's like what one of them founding fathers did to that one girl. Aside from that, the MC experiences sexual violence due to her being a black woman, viewed as a slave, who was nearly taken advantage of by the slave patrol who simply wanted to torture her because they could. Again it is commentary on the then and now, as black women continue to be the main targets of assault and sexual violation in America.
And again, it is not gratuitous or graphic, even less so than the original book. In fact, Butler has written more graphic rape in a different book called Parable of the Sower
It did not escape my notice that almost everyone complaining about these instances were white, if that matters.
I just don't know how to articulate the large misunderstanding happening without them immediately writing me off as some kind of pedophile apologist or someone who thinks sexual violence in books is okay. Their teacher is not the best at explaining why these books are important so they've already written them off as a bad teaching decision, but I really want to get across the importance here. It's made even harder by the fact that these kids don't even tend to read the damn books, they just copy off their friends! Do you have any advice for how to broach this topic in an easy to understand way?
--
I don't think you're going to succeed here. These kids clearly aren't getting any kind of good intellectual support anywhere in their lives, and they aren't ready for these kinds of books.
To be honest, I went to schools that foisted very dark and far too adult books on us from age 10 on, and I too did not really get why at the time. By high school, I was more ready, but it wasn't because I'd been exposed to stuff I hated as a kid. It was more a product of reading a lot and growing up in a household that discussed media intelligently.
I suspect a far more useful approach would be to get them into books that touch on heavy topics but that are overall funnier and easier to digest.
A great literature teacher might be able to make these particular books work for these particular kids even without a gentle introduction to more nuanced and heavier literature over time, but if their teacher isn't like that, you aren't going to be able to make up for it.
Maybe somebody else will have some ideas.

He was drafted into the Army in 1943. His fellow recruits remembered him as "simple, bland, unassuming." He described himself as a "nothing, a nobody." No one, including the young man, knew what life had in store for him.
In the Army, he served as a staff sergeant in the 20th Armored Division. Elements of his division participated in the liberation of Dachau concentration camp - Although his unit was near, they did not actually enter the camp.
Although he was proud of his service, he remembered that time as very painful for him - he not only witnessed the horrors of war, but it was also the same time his mother passed away.
His father, a barber, was born in Germany, and his mother was of Norwegian heritage.
He was born on this day, November 26, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Being the only child, he was very shy. His uncle gave him the nickname, "Sparky" after the horse "Spark Plug" from the Barney Google comic strip.
His mother was bedridden during his high school years, and the young man often heard her cries of pain. Her illness was identified as cancer in November 1942, the same month he was drafted. On February 28, 1943, he used a day pass to visit his mother one last time. He got to say goodbye to her that day, but he said, "I'll never get over that scene as long as I live."
He would also regret the fact that his mother would never see what he would become.
After returning from the war in the fall of 1945, he sold his first cartoons to his local newspaper.
"The first Peanuts strip appeared on October 2, 1950, in seven newspapers nationwide. Although being a professional cartoonist was [Charles] Schulz’s life-long dream, at 27-years old, he never could have foreseen the longevity and global impact of his seemingly-simple four-panel creation," according to the Charles M. Schulz Museum.
In the summer of 1968, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and after corresponding with teacher Harriet Glickman, Schulz made a bold decision, introducing a character named "Franklin" to his Peanuts comic strip. As told in the July post on the Peace Page celebrating Franklin's 50th birthday, Schulz by that time was already a very popular comic strip artist and did not have to acknowledge the school teacher's request to introduce a black character in order to bring the country together and show people of color that they are not excluded from American society.
Schulz carefully thought about it, knowing that his career could be in jeopardy, as other cartoonists had politely declined Glickman's request. But, he corresponded with Glickman's black friends to ensure that he would present Franklin in the best light, smart as Linus and not condescending, even to the point where some would joke that Franklin was too boring and "normal" compared to the other Peanuts characters.
He also received backlash as some newspapers threatened to cut his strip if he showed Franklin in the same classroom as other Peanut characters. He courageously ignored the threats, sitting Franklin in front of Peppermint Patty at school and playing center field on her baseball team. He even told the president of the comic's distribution company that "Either you print it just the way I draw it or I quit."
According to The New Yorker, Schulz always worried about the portrayl of Franklin. "He needn’t have worried, though, because Franklin felt real — or at least felt respected — as a kind kid on the beach with whom Charlie Brown plays in the sand. (“Whites Only” pools were not uncommon in 1968.) Though Schulz may have lived a quiet, remote life in his California studio, he was woke enough to realize that all one had to do was care enough about a character for he or she to 'work,' even if the shell of the character wasn’t his own."
Schulz later introduced another black character, Milo, as well as semi-Latino Jose Peterson, one of the first characters of Hispanic descent in U.S. comics. He also gave voice to women in sports in the strip after he became friends with tennis star Billie Jean King, leading to a lifelong interest in the fair treatment of women athletes and a seat on the board of the Women’s Sports Foundation that King founded.
Today, the work of Charles Schulz is still very popular, even though recently the Peanuts' animated Thanksgiving special is embroiled in some undeserved social media controversy designed to divide fans who may not be aware of how Franklin was originally introduced.
In an article in Snopes, Nat Gertler, author of a book about Peanuts, wrote:
That even though the animated cartoon was in a completely different media than Schulz' newspapers, there is an "assumption that Charles Schulz himself planned the admittedly awkward shot being referenced [of Franklin sitting alone on one side of the picnic table]. While Schulz definitely kept a hand in the animated work, by 1973 when the Thanksgiving special aired, the Peanuts characters were starring in not only a steady stream of TV specials, but also a series of animated feature films. Schulz certainly wasn’t laying out every shot himself — he had a day job to take care of, writing and drawing the most popular comic strip going, as well as creating original books, handling licensing materials, and so on. A talented team of animation folks were doing their job on this."
Schulz critics also like to ask why Franklin was drawn to look "dirty" in the first early panels, not realizing that back then every newspaper comic strip was printed in black and white with no option for shading other than drawing lines to depict shades.
Gertler would conclude, "Schulz stuck his neck out introducing Franklin." Others have pointed out that the network which produced the original Peanuts Thanksgiving special is also responsible for cancelling The Smothers Brothers show for being critical of the Vietnam War and the political mainstream. It should also be noted that it was only recently in 2015 that the television academy recognized a black woman, Viola Davis, for best actress in a drama, the first time that award has gone to a black woman in nearly 70 years of award-giving, shedding some light on how ground-breaking the introduction of Franklin was in 1968.
"Despite the over-all racial imbalance of the “Peanuts” cast, this caring is really the secret, mysterious power of Schulz’s entire strip. Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Schroeder, Franklin, and everyone else came alive on that page because of Charles Schulz’s ability to make you care about and feel for — and, in Charlie Brown’s case, at least, feel through — nearly every one of them," according to The New Yorker.
Schulz died on February 12, 2000. By the time he retired in "December 1999, the Peanuts comic strip was syndicated in over 2,600 newspapers worldwide, with book collections translated in over 25 languages," according to the Charles M. Schulz Museum.
The Museum also says of Schulz, "The continuing popular appeal of Peanuts stems, in large part, from Schulz’s ability to portray his observations and connect to his audience in ways that many other strips cannot."
"The thoughtful pacing in 'Peanuts' is reminiscent of that of 'Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.' The two also share a rejection of the violence and manic energy that characterize other children’s media of the time", according to the New Yorker.
“Schulz wasn’t an artist because he suffered. He suffered because he was an artist," said writer Jonathan Franzen in the Press Democrat. "To keep choosing art over the comforts of life — to grind out a strip every day for 50 years, to pay the very deep psychic price for this — is the opposite of damaged. It’s sort of choice only a tower and strength and sanity can make.”
Bruce Handy in The Atlantic wrote:
"So if I were asked to pick the character most likely to find happiness if he or she ever grew up . . . I wouldn’t hesitate to pick Charlie Brown. Maybe he does find a form of redemption in his suffering? He feels his failures deeply, he suffers profoundly, and yet he remains ever willing to take another run at kicking the football or trying to get his kite aloft or pitching the next game or hoping this year, finally, to receive a valentine. If he is a blockhead, it is in part because he cares so much; diffidence doesn’t merit the insult. Like his creator, he has passion and persistence. If he were real, I like to tell myself, Charlie Brown would be fine."

Have you ever seen someone quit their job in a dramatic way? No. Do you know why your parents named you what they did? No. I think Mom just liked the name, though. What do you like to dip your fries in? Ketchup, mostly. Is your house clean or messy right now? It's actually really clean right now. We've had a lot of help around the house recently thanks to family and friends with Mom's cancer, and then I've been much neater and attentive to cleanliness than usual because 1.) it's my responsibility to ensure it is for Mom's health and 2.) I dropped out of school so literally have zero excuses to not be doing at least one productive thing. What was the last email you received? That wasn't trash, it was from my old major's dean in school. She was trying to comfort me and give me options on what to do versus leave, but yeah. I'll 100% give it to the school that they deeply and sincerely care for their students, I just needed to go. Do you know someone who speaks without a filter? lmao me. Well, depends, I guess, actually. I know when to keep my mouth shut in some situations. What’s your favourite kind of museum? Science museums. Especially those with d i n o z. We don't really decorate anymore for Halloween, or holidays in general. How many tabs do you have open right now? Two. What’s something you’ve been meaning to do but keep putting off? Try more sites to hopefully get a poem I wrote published, but that crippling fear of rejection tho. :^) What’s the first thing you check on your phone at the start of the day? The time. Have you ever flown a kite? Yeah, I loved that as a kid. I’m guessing you’ve probably been asked this before, but which do you prefer - Coca Cola, or Pepsi? Coke. Pepsi is gross. No, I never do. It just adds oil to your hair, and mine is naturally oily enough. Do you have an item of clothing that reminds you of someone? Tell me about it, and the person it reminds you of. I have a lot, none positive. If the last girl you texted told you that she was pregnant, how would you respond? Ask her who the fuck I need to kill. How would you react if your mother told you that she was pregnant again? Well considering 1.) she's past menopause and 2.) she has serious ovarian and Fallopian cancer, I'd say that's pretty impossible. Who do you have the most text messages from? Sara. The last time you skipped school, what was the reason?
Uhhh if you mean "skip" as in I had seriously no realistic reason not to go, I think I was just really tired. I tried not to skip unless I was having serious mental health issues. Does more than one person like you? *shrugs* Has your partner ever accused you of cheating, when you actually didn’t? No. Who was your first love? Do you ever miss that person? Jason. Of course I do sometimes. Other times I know it's probably for the better we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Do you like your middle name?
I mean it's pretty, but boy do I wish it was more original. If your hair is long, would you ever think about having it cut short? Or, if it’s short, would you like to grow it long? I doubt it will ever be long again. Would you consider your parents to be strict? Dad never was at all; Mom sorta was when I was little. Do you have a mirror in your room? On the back of my door. Do you live in a city, town, or in the country? The country. What color is your toothbrush? White. When was the last time you had a nightmare? Yesterday while I was napping. Woke up shrieking and scared Mom out of her skin. Tainted my mood almost the rest of the day. If you had a terminal illness, would you want to know? No shit I would. What was the last thing someone called you other than your real name? I don't know. If you could meet anyone who lived before your time, who would it be? I have no clue. Is there a candle in the room you are in? No. Are you currently taking any prescribed medication? More than I like. Do you have bad anxiety? If so, do you take any kind of medications for it? Yes and yes. Who was the last person you felt you were wasting your time on? I don't know. One thing you’ve experienced that you thought you never would have? A suicide attempt. 'I like the way MDMA gives you a deep sense of connection to your friends'
I'm no fiend. Most nights I'd rather share a bottle of wine with some friends than stay up till 6am getting sweaty and boggle-eyed on a bender. But while I associate alcohol with talking about past experiences, I associate drugs with making new ones. Party drugs can often make a stranger feel like a confidant; a simple trip to a town centre feel like an Enid Blyton escapade.
I probably take class-A party drugs such as MDMA or cocaine once a fortnight, and have done since I was 16 (I'm 27 now). I like the way cocaine gives you a new lease of life, like a mushroom in Super Mario, to carry on with a night out. I like the way MDMA softens the edges of reality and gives you a deep sense of connection to your friends that you can never get when you meet them for dinner and they moan about their jobs. I like how when you're coming down from a pill another person's touch has a comforting, almost electric capacity. If you're suffering from exhaustion, anxiety or stress, recreational drugs can give you a bit of a leg-up.
Drugs can also be a total pain. Ecstasy can make you feel like you're floating in a cloud, but just as often it's an admin nightmare: you come up at different times from your friends; only half the people in a group remembered to get sorted and there's endless hassle at a party trying to get more. Even when you're having a great time, there's a self-doubting internal monologue running through the whole process: Have I done enough? Am I coming up? Do I look like a prick?
I would just like to have that conversation about drugs being sometimes brilliant and occasionally annoying. Yet I feel like there is no one who is willing to talk about drugs in those terms.
When children ask their parents where babies come from, they get a white lie – a stork delivers them, you find them in a cabbage patch, you order them from Ocado. That's the closest thing I can think of to explain the difference between the perception and the reality of drug use by young people in the UK. There is a societal stork myth that is propagated by the media and popular culture to hide a basic reality. Even users themselves are entirely unwilling to talk about drug-taking honestly. Everything in the drugs world tries to stifle this conversation. Take nightclubs. It doesn't take a genius to work out that staying up till 6am listening to dance music at an ear-splitting volume would not only be unenjoyable without some kind of mind-altering stimulant, but a painful test of endurance. Most people in big nightclubs are on drugs. The clubs know that: that's why they charge so much for entry and, often, for bottles of water. They know that not many people will be buying drinks. Most of them have in-house dealers too, so they can sort out their DJs. Bigger DJs put requests for drugs on their rider. "We just put it on expenses as 'fruit and flowers'," a promoter at a major nightclub told me this year. But there's still a stork charade, with the venue covered in posters promising to eject drug users and bouncers searching punters – but not too thoroughly. The pretence is that this could all be above board.
I suppose the reason for this false picture of drug-taking is that most people don't take drugs. The statistics show that only a small fraction of the UK population are regular drugs users, and a smaller fraction still do anything harder than weed. But drug use is not spread evenly across the country, nor across age groups. In my demographic – under 30, living in London, job in the creative industries, disposable income – almost everyone is a recreational drugs user.
Where I grew up in south London, it was pretty uncommon to find someone who didn't at least smoke weed. The children of more middle-class parents were taking cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine and mephedrone almost every weekend. These were not reprobates ruining their lives: they were intelligent, bright people who got three As at A-level and went to good universities.
We would go to raves in places such as Camberwell and Hackney Wick, to warehouse venues where almost no one was over 18. White powders flowed as freely as the Fanta Fruit Twist and Malibu we were drinking. Festivals played a big part, too. Parents, even quite strict ones who wouldn't dream of letting their kids out past midnight, were happy to send their kids to music festivals, perhaps because of the reverent music-focused coverage in the media.
If you go to somewhere like Reading or Benicàssim, almost everyone is under 20. Half of them barely leave the campsite. Festivals are drugs playgrounds where teenagers experiment with copious amounts of uppers in presumably quite dangerous combinations. Some of the best moments of my life took place going to festivals as a teenager. I remember one muddy year at Glastonbury, racing down the hill arm-in-arm with a bunch of people, all off our faces on MDMA, feeling happier than I had ever felt. Another year, I remember taking mephedrone with a girl I fancied during Blur's headline set, both weeping with joy at a band we'd grown up with our whole lives.
Again, everyone knows this; no one thinks the thousands who watch the sunrise at the stone circle in Glastonbury every year are just on a high from seeing Mumford and Sons. But the festivals keep up the pretence that they are drug-free zones. Even a recent BBC3 show, Festivals, Sex and Suspicious Parents, which was supposed to show parents what their kids really got up to at festivals, ignored the fact that as the cameras panned around the festival, many revellers were plainly as high as a kite, their jaws swinging back and forth like pendulums, a side-effect of taking ecstasy. The voiceover just kept talking about people being "drunk".
I am also part of the first generation of people whose parents are likely to have been drug users. Of course, some adults would be outraged, like the parents on BBC3, to see what their kids got up to. But many more knew only too well – plenty of people I know would smoke weed or share dealers with their parents. In some families drug use had less stigma than smoking.
I thought all this was normal, but at university I met, for the first time, young people who totally abstained from drugs. They mostly came from outside major cities, or outside the UK, and many shivered in horror when they saw the rest of us dabbing our gums with mysterious white powders. I thought there would be a rift in social lives, an us-and-them situation, but it was around that time that mephedrone happened. Known by literally no young person ever as "meow meow", mephedrone was a legal high that changed attitudes towards drug-taking. Polite do-right kids who would never dream of taking illegal drugs were happy to chow down on bombs (self-made wontons of mephedrone powder wrapped in Rizla) like they were no more risqué than chocolate liqueurs.
Mephedrone was incredibly cheap – about a tenner a gram – and incredibly available. You could order it with next-day delivery to your university PO box. Mephedrone was a drugs phenomenon of which I have never seen the likes before or since. Everyone started doing it. I remember visiting a friend at Leeds University during this period. We went to a club and the queue for the men's bogs was at least 70 people long. When I finally got inside the place stunk of mephedrone, you could hear everyone loudly sniffing.
On nights out during this time, everyone would be raging – making out with one another, dancing with total abandon. But the comedowns were immediate and severe, far worse than ecstasy. By 4am people would be lying on the floor sharing the most intimate and personal shames and secrets, as if the drug was somehow compelling them to be honest. Some people called it a truth serum. Friendships were forged in the hot irons of that emotional exposition, as were the most horrendous hangovers.
Mephedrone was banned within two years of it taking off. People talk a lot about one legal high being banned only for another to take its place, but the real legacy of mephedrone was to numb the stigma of harder drugs. By the time I left university, many of the drug abstainers who had tried mephedrone became relaxed about most illegal drugs, too.
Ecstasy and mephedrone make it pretty hard to get much done in the days after taking them. You can't regularly use them and be a successful, functioning adult, so they become a rarer treat once you leave student life. In their 20s most people are overworked: they have second jobs and work incredibly long hours. If they're going to go out on a Friday night they need a pick-me-up. And that is why cocaine remains the young professional's drug of choice.
I see cocaine usage almost every weekend wherever I go: clubs, pubs, people's houses, dinner parties. At fancy celebrity parties, the sort you see on Mail Online, cocaine is so prevalent that it's almost boring. Everyone does it – butter-wouldn't-melt TV presenters, wholesome pop stars adored by your mum, people who would immediately lose their job if anyone found out. Those tabloid stings where they catch someone doing cocaine are kind of hilarious in that respect. If you followed any celebrity around with a secret camera on a Friday night you'd be almost guaranteed to find them doing coke. But cocaine users are like hipsters in the way they will vehemently deny they are one, and cast aspersions on others. "It was just full of self-aggrandising wankers doing coke and talking about themselves," someone will say about a party where they did cocaine and talked about themselves. Most of my friends are cocaine users, but I've never heard them say one nice thing about cocaine.
No doubt some people will have read this piece and think that I am just a monstrous twat, that this has all been little more than infantile boasting in a vain attempt to try to sound cool. But that, too, is part of the cover-up, that any open discussion of using drugs or enjoying them is necessarily a boast. We can talk about great food, great films, great sex, but if we talk about great drugs we immediately sound like we're engaging in some teenage bravado. That's why the biggest taboo surrounding drugs today isn't taking drugs, but saying that they're fun.
I'm not saying that people are lying about the negative effects. I have, of course, seen lives ruined by drugs. Rarely has this been because of an overdose or because someone has ruined themselves financially because of addiction (although I am only 27 – that may yet come). Far more often I have just seen people become dulled through regular drug use: their youthful spark extinguished by a never-ceasing quest to get on it; brains frazzled by overheated synapses. There are friends I want to slap every time I see them doing another line, but I can't because that would be hypocritical.
I also appreciate that's it's easy to be blasé about drug use when you're a well-adjusted middle-class white guy who has never been stopped by the police and has a distant non-social relationship with their drug dealer. For many people, drugs aren't something they can dip in and out of and separate from their lives. People entangled in the economic and legal realities of drugs – dealers, those convicted of possession, addicts – don't have the luxury of my relaxed attitude.
But until we stop pretending that getting high is inherently bad – that drugs can never be brilliant, can never enhance human experience for the better – how can we properly deal with people whose lives have been made worse by drugs? At some point, kids grow up and learn the facts of life. I think it's time we all had the talk.

Poison ( III )
Villain’s are people too, are they not? (Y/N) is taking the “home grown” terror title a little too seriously. You’re really really bad, until you meet a certain super soldier who makes you consider a career change. It’s a lengthy process, but you’re willing if it’s for the right reasons. Maybe you’re not so bad after all?
//basically poison ivy and a little bit of bane but with marvel characters?? I’d be original but I love her and them so much so sorry. also some changes, idk I’m making them my own but completely based of the DC characters SNS. Nickname Ivy, real name, yours duh!//
***this is my first attempt at fanfic so any feedback is welcome! I love all these characters dearly so, here goes nothing! Hope you enjoy***
A/N: Violence, language, crime. I’ll update these as the chapters come out
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The charity auction was the perfect place to snag Green. They knew you frequented places of high wealth, and always took a chance when it came to diamonds. After another couple months of stake-outs, recon, and blackouts from various team members, they'd finally discovered a pattern.
"You've got to hand it to this girl, she sure knows how to stay under the radar. I bet everyone who's ever came into contact with her just see's a pretty girl in a known hang-out for wealthy men and just written her off. Brilliant, if I'm allowed to say that about a villian." Tony made multiple points. Green, as you were coded, were so stealthy, that until further investigation, they never realized you had been at this for years. Stealing from the wealthy for whatever reason you chose, causing entire buildings to erupt into chaos, you were good, really good. And the man you always had with you had no record, absolutely nothing. No address, occupation, they could only pull up a name and a birth month and that was it. Viktor Alexeev, April. The only way they could link him to any of the crimes at all was through his ring. It had a giant emerald in the middle, with a black snake curled around it, almost like a family crest, but different.
They walked in to the grand ballroom in pairs, Nat and Steve, Tony and Wanda, Bruce and Thor, and Bucky all by himself coming in last. They scattered around the room, sitting, standing, examining vantage points, and checking for alternate routes of escaping if the entire place went to shit.
"Everybody in position?" Natasha said over the coms. Five checks and yes's later, they were ready to mix and mingle, and wait for the main event to start.
Once everybody had a couple drinks in them, and had finally began to settle down, a mic BOOMED throughout the room.
"Ladies and gentleman, tonight's host, Andante Forester!" A gorgeous blonde in a very tight pink cocktail dress introduced a tall, dark skinned man in a white suit. He took long, slow strides up to the mic, being sure to wave and acknowledge multiple people in the ground on his way. He took the mic, raising it to his towering height, and spoke.
"Thank you Mindy. Good evening everybody, as you now know I'm Andante and I've decided to gather you all here to raise money for a very charitable cause. I have always had a need to serve others, my whole life since I came over from Egypt has been about ensuring my family's safety and stability. It wasn't until I realized that the same dedication to them, was also involved with my schooling that I realized I was so much more than just a caretaker. My journey has been long, and vast, and trying, but now I'm here, talking to all of you, harnessing your attention and persuading you to donate to a movement that has our best future in mind. I'm simply a man, with the means to do something for the world, and the will to see it through. So tonight, I've gathered a few lovely ladies, and a very sizable jeweled necklace deep from within the vaults of cartier, for you to take out. The man, or woman, who places the highest bid on each of our willing participants will be allowed to take our lovely ladies on a date to a public location, escorted by my own personal security of course, with this dazzling piece of jewelry hanging from her neck." And on cue, the necklace was wheeled in by three armed guards. It was massive, Andante explained it was 70 carats of the highest quality diamonds and sapphires ever crafted. Each girl was named after a gemstone, all dressed accordingly. There was Ruby, Jade, Opal, Onyx, Amber, Pearl, and Sapphire.
"Any of the seven girls on stage look like our target?" Facial recognition was good, but with the talents of this particular pair, they could never rely on that alone.
"Negative, Natasha. Our girls a (your race) red-head, these girls are either blonde, brunette, asian, white, african, or middle eastern, either one or the other, never our combo." Steve spoke.
"Any one of them can be my target. The kinky curls on Sapphire, with the bright blue dress, dark skin, and that confident smile? If she's not already a model, I'll figure out a way to make her one." Tony utters longingly into his radio.
"According to facial recognition Tony, she's a Harvard grad that owns and runs one of the most successful law firms in New York. If only you weren't already in love, huh?" Natasha and her facial recognition, she always new everything about everybody she sees, the constant paranoia probably helps too.
"Back on topic ladies and gentleman. I've got suspicious activity on the edge of the crowd, men and women alike are in a dream like state, still conscious, just... swaying." The bidding was still going like crazy, every girl had at least $100,000 bid on them, but Bucky was right, the crowd was slowly becoming dazed and disoriented, no chaos this time, everybody just seemed... high.
"She's here, keep your eyes peeled, we can't lose her this time or Fury will...." Natasha trailed off for a moment before she continued. Her tone this time much more serene, and her speech slow. "Guys, the jewels from here are just so, sparkly. They look so clean.. I want pretty necklace.."
"Natasha? Natasha? Nat. I need you to snap out of it, we need to focus and... you're right Natty, gem sparkle, lots of gems pretty together." Steve and Nat were dosed, completely taken in by the calm wave that broke over the two of them. It wasn't long before it hit the others. Soon every member of the team was high as a kite, talking about clean gems and bright lights, pretty dresses, anything and everything that DIDN'T pertain to the mission.
Bucky was slightly more resistant to whatever it was making them act like fools. He watched as the same dazzling red head came in, charmed everyone on stage, blew rose colored dust from the palm of her hand and waltz off the stage with a ten million dollar necklace hanging around her neck. As you passed by Bucky, he attempted to reach out and grab your arm, only to realize he was succumbing to your love inducing air additive. You paused briefly before looking him up and down, recognition fluttering in your eyes as you walked to stand in front of the super soldier you had previously met.
"Hiya there, sugar. I see you remember me. Don't worry, I remember you too. Thanks for the necklace." You said before presenting your jeweled chest, "I really do think it compliments my eyes, whatdaya think?" you winked and posed, pulling the slit in your dress to the side, exposing your beautiful thick legs.
"I think they..."Bucky tried hard to fight the high as he spoke. "Don't match... your.. outfit." He smiled weakly, hoping his joke came across that way and he wasn't about to get knocked out again on one of these missions. He had became unconscious more on these missions than anybody else on the team, barely remembering anything at all, except for what came back to him in dreams. To Bucky's surprise you giggled at his little joke and placed yourself closer to him.
"Bucky, baby, I wish you did remember all the times we've met. I've grown to be quiet fond of our little chats." You raised your opposite hand and blew something directly into his face. "If you don't hurt me, I'll let you remember this time." You placed your back up against Bucky's chest and wrapped his metal arm across her throat. "You wouldn't hurt me, would you?" You looked up at Bucky with your sad (Y/E/C) eyes and he shook his head no. He had hurt many people in his life, and you just couldn't be one of them. The effects of whatever made him dreamy slowly wore off, and he finally felt the cold your body seemed to radiate.
"If you're noticing the temperature difference, you've said it reminds you of Christmas morning in Brooklyn when you were younger. 1936, younger I think." Bucky memorized every feature of your face, it was soft, your nose was short, with a crooked bridge, big rosy cheeks, and, freckles? Definitely freckles underneath the makeup you were wearing. Your eyes shined like the moon as you glanced up at him. You appeared so gentle, how did you ever become SHIELD's most wanted. You removed yourself from under Bucky's arm and allowed him to regain his senses.
"I like you, Bucky. You never seem to quit, but every time I give you the upper hand you never take it." Your seductive demeanor paused as you spoke, Bucky had a nagging feeling that this was actual honesty coming from you. He felt things too, but you had your ways of making him feel certain ways, so it probably was just another affect. "If you're wondering if you're still under my spell, you're not." Well there goes that idea. "There's something weird about you. I don't like it, not one bit." You circled him slowly, trailing your perfectly manicured finger across his torso. "I know you still see me as the bad guy and all the other cliches; however, if you want to arrest me, good luck, but, if you're willing to talk to your super friends, I've left a list of the REAL charities in this area who have received sizable donations every time I've 'made a stop' in your jacket pocket." A soft grin manifested over your cherry red lips. "I know you won't remember all of this, but I'm sure y'all are smart enough to figure it out." You kissed him on his cheek, leaving a faint lipstick mark in its place, blew a low dose of plant hormone in his face and spoke one last time. "Everybody's effects will wear off in about fifteen minutes, yours won't, but they'll know what to do with you. And I go by Ivy, by the way. Your friends can stop calling me green." You adjusted yourself, and spoke not to him, but to your henchman. "Viktor darling, it's time for our grand exit." A large blast was then heard on the east wall, crumbling a hole large enough for the hulk to walk through, you turned to look at Bucky one last time, and then slipped away into the darkness of the night. Leaving Bucky unconscious, yet again.
"I'm starting to worry about the long term effects of him being unconscious this often. We have no idea what he's being dosed with or what it's doing to him."
"Well Cap, I'd say it's knocking him out entirely, wouldn't you?" Bucky was slowly coming too, the arguing voices of Tony and Steve rarely stopped after these missions.
"Weren't you in charge of making sure things like this stopped happening? She's taking us out at the same time and stealing millions of dollars right in front of our faces and you can't seem to do a damn thing about it Tony!"
"Right, because tossing that metal frisbee at her in your drunken state was a much better contribution. Thank you for your service, you truly are a patriot Steven." Bucky could no longer tell if his head hurt due to his possible concussion, or Steve and Tony bickering like old maids.
"Could you two can it? What's a guy gotta do around here to get some peace and quiet?" Bucky groaned as he sat up. The whole team crowded him in about .5 seconds, basically suffocating him again with the same questions they always asked after he fell. Only this time, he actually remembered what happened.
"Yes." The room went silent, all eyes were bulging and staring directly at Bucky, gazes unwandering, he could feel the tension between everybody. He knew they all thought he'd caught a lead, that Green, Ivy, had made a mistake, but he didn't have a lead, he just had a name, and an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach.
"Yes what? You, remember? Like the whole everything?" Memory loss was common after interacting with Ivy, the whole team could barely remember bits and pieces of all their interactions. If it weren't for security cameras and Tony and Rhodey's body cams, they'd know absolutely nothing about who and what they were dealing with.
"Yes all of it, she let me remember, made sure I did, even gave me a name." Stunned, every single person in the room had shock written on their foreheads. She had always been very discreet, moved in the shadows but always did the dirty work. She was cunning, and ambitious, they'd never gotten more than an appearance, and even that was spotty. Now they had a name, something was going on and they all knew it. She wasn't an ordinary villain, this was something unique. Bucky explained the entire scene, never once interrupted. As he finished, he saw the wheels turning, everybody had questions, nobody understood, why had she basically given up? And why to Bucky?
"So she said she likes you, gave you her name, and actually put herself in a chokehold with your arm?" Bucky nodded yes, not really believing it himself.
"Where's the list?"
"The what?"
"You said that she slipped a list of places in your pocket, where is it?"
"I'd assume in my pocket since I've been unconscious till now, Steve." Bucky rifled through his pockets, starting with the lower ones, he checked his jacket pockets and nothing. It was until he checked the breast pocket of his jacket behind his handkerchief that he found the list. It was three pages long, and had the names of over a dozen charities, families, and street corners.
"I'd say that's a lead there Barnes." and it was. Just, not how they imagined.
// How’s it doing so far?? I’m really liking how it’s all going so far! P.S. if you guys want to throw random vocab words at me I’ll try and find a way to incorporate them and tag you! Thanks for reading! May Odin bless you! //

Waax (Original Mix) By Kon Up, Krugel On Beatport.
Having actually just been announced for this year's Splendour In The Grass, and also fresh off the launch of their powerful new single Labrador, WAAX are set for a massive year. WAAX guitarist Chris Antolak admits the psychological power of frontwoman Marie De Vita's verses did not quickly occur to the rest of the band during the production of their EP Wild & Weak. The QMAs will be held at the Brisbane Convention and also Event Centre on May 14, and also will feature performances from musicians consisting of Waax, Brad Butcher, Jeremy Neale as well as the Kite String Tangle. WAAX was acknowledged as one of the leading 5 shortlisted bands in The City Seems Amplify competition. WAAX: It's very exciting, we're extremely grateful. I'm type of going nuts currently, however it's pleasant since we've been speaking to Three-way J a great deal, as well as we're old friends currently. WAAX have actually amassed sector focus as well as a zealous fan-base from around the globe over the last few years, many thanks to their awesome, independently-released EP's Holy Sick (2015) and also Wild & Weak (2017 ), in addition to barnstorming singles like 'Exact same Very same,' 'Wild & Weak,' as well as 'I For An Eye', and also a ruthless touring timetable. Just days prior to WAAX start a significant national excursion in support of the brand-new single, we had a conversation with Maz regarding facing the past, leaving whatever on the phase, and exactly how Uniqueness In The Lawn changed her life. After three weeks of impressive Sunshine State parties, Brisbane Celebration ends with a bash for the ages, uniting a massive line-up of Australia's brightest skill, with native heavyweights Violent Soho as well as climbing superstars Meg Mac, Methyl Ethel and WAAX. Soon after they toured with Dune Rats, they sustained Terrible Soho at the Christmas is Involving Mansfield shows, together with Aaron 'Gocsy' Gocs. After that show, Gocsy offered us all chocolate milk air fresheners for the automobile. It didn't make our cars any kind of fresher, however they did scent a great deal more tasty. WAAX after that went onto sell out The Brightside in Brisbane and also hit the studio with Bernard Fanning as well as Nick DiDia, all the while asking me ahead along as well as picture their trip. What an honour.
Tumblr media
This is a trend that is readied to proceed as the technology field EPS on the ASX200 is forecast to grow around 70% in the following 12 months, contrasted to the monetary market where EPS are anticipated to grow only 9%. Whilst evaluations might be high, as Peter notes, it is fair to pay a costs for supplies that provide consistent development in earnings year on year. As WAAX (@waaxband). of a diversified portfolio WAAX as a basket could be a welcome enhancement. With praise for their previous single 'This Whatever' still rolling in, vibe-punks WAAX display their mellifluous side on 'Exact same Very same', which had its around the world premiere on triple j. Take a look at the official video for Wild as well as Weak as well as you'll take the initial step in recognizing why I think WAAX are a band to see WAAX. There's no remainder for the wicked. No sleep for the wild and no time at all for the weak. Brisbane's WAAX are providing the middle finger to complacency and also capping off an exceptionally developmental year with the We're Absolutely Fucked Excursion - a last run of heading live attacks from the five-piece for 2017. Launching 'WisdomTeeth' forced down the doors and right away demanded interest, earning WAAX an area on the triple j Discovered phase at BIGSOUND. The furious 'I For An Eye' came next and was contributed to triple j rotation-proper while the band played programs, LOTS of shows. WAAX have done on a number of supporting slots with Aussie staples such as Kingswood, The Delta Riggs, Ecca Vandal, Emperors as well as Stonefield as well as internationals like Guitarwolf(Japan), DISMAYED (ex-spouse- Vivian Girls, Best Coastline as well as Opening members) as well as Canadian future punk friends White Lung.

Note
All of them :P
1:Full name
Alexander David Walter, but please call me Pete
2:Age
18
3:3 Fears
I’ll die early and break my promise to my best fried to not die for “many, many years to come,” getting anything- even water- in my eyes or close to my eyes, my parents finding out about my beliefs and kicking me out
4:3 things I love
My best friend, my best friend, and, um, my best friend
My best friend, cuddling/hugging, and being cold
5:4 turns on
Uhh, I only get “turned on” if I haven’t ‘done the deed’ in a while, but I don’t really have any stimuli that can sexually “turn me on” consistently.
6:4 turns off
Honestly? Nakedness. And also…… gosh, I don’t know. My lack of sexual attraction is not helping me come up with an answer…
7:My best friend
My best friend is Rachel and she is a first violin in the top orchestra at my former high school and we met through a school club and we had lunch every day almost all of my senior year and she is the best and I love her
8:Sexual orientation
Sexual orientation? Asexual, or on the Ace spectrum at least.
9:My best first date
Uh, what in my life classifies as a date? I’m so ??? on everything, but….. I’m going to claim that I haven’t had a true first date with anybody. However, I did go to dinner with someone (who was forced to go with me by her parents 1/10 would not recommend at all) before the homecoming dance in my freshman year and the pasta wasn’t terrible and we did have some moments of sustained conversation…

Next to my best friend. Otherwise, the city where I grew up.
17:Favourite food
A cheeseburger with an egg on it. A bun, a burger patty, american cheese (or cheddar), bacon, an over-easy egg, and lettuce. Plus, I love biting into the burger and then letting the runny yolk drip onto the fries and if I’m lucky, some cheese will also drip onto the fries over time and so I can have cheesy, egg-y fries and they just taste so good

Video chatting online is better than talking on the phone, but both are fifth out of five methods of communicating that I detailed up yesterday for my best friend.
63:Do I believe in ghosts? How about aliens?
No, and probably not. I do think aliens exist, but I don’t believe in aliens? Like, it’s rational to think that given the entire space, aliens have to exist, but also any thoughts we have about aliens don’t strike me as believable??
64:Do I believe in magic?
No
65:Do I believe in luck?
Yes and no, it depends, it switches back and forth. Kinda like if I believe in a monotheist God.
66:What’s the weather like right now?
Recovering from the ash from the wildfires. Also we’re transitioning from summer drought to our rest of the year “This is why Seattle has the reputation it does” weather, slowly but surely over the course of the next month before it truly kicks in mid-October.

72:Can I touch my nose with a tounge?
No.
73:Is there anything pink in 10 feet from me?
Same as yesterday, the stuffed animal, pillow, and folder are all still here and my hot pink tie is still in my room about 40 feet away
74:Favourite animal?
I feel uneasy around pretty much any non-human sentient being, and then most human sentient beings as well. I just… don’t know how to answer this question honestly
75:What was I doing last night at 12 AM?
I was finishing up answering the rest of the asks last night at around midnight
76:What do I think is Satan’s last name is?
Satan is just a myth to scare people into being “better” people, where “better” is just a specific lifestyle dictated by whoever managed to gain influence in the doctrine and teachings of the religion.
His origins also come from a time where surnames and ‘last names’ were not a thing, so Satan is most likely a stand-alone name, much like Plato and Zeus.
77:What’s a song that always makes me happy when I hear it?
“She Used To Be Mine” by Sara Bareilles
78:How can you win my heart?
I’ll be the judge of that. It just… happens. Rachel, Kyle, Grae, Haley, Katie, Hot Luke, and others just……. existed, and then pretty much somehow they just became a big part of my life and I…. I just love them
79:What would I want to be written on my tombstone?
That I was a beloved friend who made a positive difference in their lives

Aaaaahhhh! I know so many words, like, more than 5, and there are so many good ones!!!!!! Right now, I’m feeling music as the best word of the moment.
81:My top 5 blogs on tumblr
No. This is so rude. Why? Why must I single out a few blogs and tell the world that the interaction we’ve had isn’t enough for me and that you’re just not special enough to me? I refuse to do this.
82:If the whole world were listening to me right now, what would I say?
“I love my best friend, gay people are amazing, fund the arts, respect the arts, respect people who work the “undesired” jobs, work to protect the environment, and try to do things that make you happy while not harming other people or sentient beings.”
83:Do I have any relatives in jail?
Not that I know of
84:I accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what’s even cooler is that they endow me with the super-power of my choice! What is that power?

Yeah
93:Have I ever kissed somebody in the rain?
No
94:Had job?
I became a CYO volleyball referee and reffed two seasons so far.
95:Left the house without my wallet?
Often, and since I’ve been driving, only twice (although one was driving up for a the campus tour at the college I ended up choosing, which was about 5 total hours of driving that day, a week after I got my license). I try to remember it when I go out because I saw a few months ago a post on here saying how valuable it is in case of an accident or something and the person has an ID, and I’ve been watching crime dramas for years and having an ID is always good.
96:Bullied someone on the internet?
Good heavens, no!
97:Had sex in public?
No! Ewwww, God that’s even worse
98:Played on a sports team?
I sooo miss volleyball, and soccer was fun too
99:Smoked weed?
I hope to be able to say no until I die
100:Did drugs?
I occasionally took my prescriptions… for like 2 months… whoops
But no, not for the intention of getting high or anything, I hate drugs, even advil and tylenol
101:Smoked cigarettes?
Fuck cigarettes (and no, I haven’t)
102:Drank alcohol?
A drop of an IPA when I was 13 and a sip of a red wine when I was 16 (with parental supervision that time), and nah, it isn’t my thing.

Actually? Seriously? Like, more than just butt hurt over an infatuation? No, not really

A couple baseball games
112:Broken a bone?
My ulna and radius, just above the wrist, on my dad’s 48th birthday back in fifth grade when I tripped over my two feet in the middle of our street and landed poorly. We didn’t go to the hospital for like 3 days
113:Cut myself?
Like, as in self-harming? No.
114:Been to prom?
No, freshman homecoming was off-putting enough for me after the aftermath…
115:Been in airplane?
Yeah! Flying is great!
116:Fly by helicopter?
No
117:What concerts have I been to?
I apparently went to two The Wiggles concerts when I was a baby, and since then it’s only been school concerts
118:Had a crush on someone of the same sex?
I think the desire was enough to elevate it past a mere infatuation, but it wasn’t like a full-on crush if you know what I’m saying.
119:Learned another language?
Not fully… I’m that kind of white person (minus the complete snobbish elitist attitude)
120:Wore make up?
It isn’t bad, but it’s too close to my eyes for me to be comfortable, and it’s wayyy too much work to do like every day just to look better than my meagerness. I’m already bad enough with basic hygiene, this would be too much (although I guess if I cared that much about it it might help this problem…). I’ll gladly wear it for a show, though.
121:Lost my virginity before I was 18?
The concept of virginity is complete bs to oppress women and “weak” men and is only fun in the ‘sacrificing a virgin into a volcano’ trope but even then I don’t like it (again, sex is gross for me, so no)
122:Had oral sex?
I have kissed and been kissed on my lips, various spots on my face, and my hands, and that’s it.
123:Dyed my hair?
No
124:Voted in a presidential election?
No, but I registered to vote on my eighteenth birthday this year and I voted in the primary elections back in August and I can’t wait to vote in the November elections because VOTING IS IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY IN NON-PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS WHEN ONLY A VERY LOW PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION VOTES!!!!! LIKE, IT’S DISAPPOINTING THAT ONLY ABOUT 50% OF THE POPULATION VOTES IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS, BUT THAT NUMBER DROPS TO 30-40% IN MIDTERM ELECTIONS AND ONLY 10-20% IN LOCAL-ONLY ELECTIONS (READ: ELECTIONS IN ODD-NUMBERED YEARS) AND THOSE NUMBERS BREAK MY HEART AND WE NEED TO VOTE MORE BECAUSE VOTING IS THE EASIEST WAY TO HAVE SOME LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION IN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS AND IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE TO BE HEARD AND IF YOU ONLY VOTE IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS OR NEVER AT ALL, THEN THE PEOPLE WHO FAITHFULLY VOTE EVERY YEAR, AKA RICH OLD WHITE CONSERVATIVE MEN, ESSENTIALLY HAVE ALL OF THE VOICE IN THE ELECTIONS AND WE DO NOT NEED TO HAVE EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR GOVERNMENT DECIDED BY RICH OLD WHITE CONSERVATIVE MEN IF YOU’VE EVER READ ANY HISTORY TEXTBOOK OR REALLY ANYTHING, YOU SHOULD EASILY BE ABLE TO SEE WHY! PLEASE VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION!!!!!!!!!
125:Rode in an ambulance?
No
126:Had a surgery?
Do stitches count? Otherwise, no.
127:Met someone famous?
No
128:Stalked someone on a social network?
Too many times, sadly, and sorry
129:Peed outside?
Yeah
130:Been fishing?
No
131:Helped with charity?
I’ve volunteered with some non-profits, but I don’t think I’ve done so with a quote “charity” unquote.
132:Been rejected by a crush?
Probably? Most things were minor infatuations that I used to think were crushes, so I’m not sure. You could say that the most recent potential qualifier rejected me, but I would beg to differ given things now
133:Broken a mirror?
I was a reckless child
134:What do I want for birthday?
More time to spend alone with my best friend, more time to be with my best friend, a sudden influx of cash (and/or guaranteed financial stability), root beer and food and people to play games with
135:How many kids do I want and what will be their names?
Zero (0). However, if I do have kids, I’d probably adopt them, and I’d probably let them choose their names. Otherwise, I really like the names Luke, Pete®, James, Haley, Sara, Nicole, Alex (particularly for non-binary or female identifying persons), Rachel (though I probably wouldn’t name my kid that bc it’s too special for me), Hannah, and Emily.
136:Was I named after anyone?
My parents don’t say so.
137:Do I like my handwriting?
I’ve spent a long time crafting this efficient style, so yes. Also I have like three style to choose, my Most EfficientTM style, my All Caps (with the first letter taller than the others) style, and my fancy style with all of the tails at the end of the letters, the a like this font has it, the curls, anything I find to be   fancy   *jazz hands*
138:What was my favourite toy as a child?
Probably my little cars that I would move around on my city roads carpet along with a motorcycle that made had a brief jingle and then a simple noise that was super cool for 6-8 year old me
139:Favourite Tv Show?
Phineas and Ferb, or How I Met Your Mother
140:Where do I want to live when older?
Ideally, somewhere here in my hometown, I just love it here.
141:Play any musical instrument?
I can make a sound, but is it really playing? *suspenseful music crescendos*
142:One of my scars, how did I get it?
My Aunt re-married when I was 8 and the guy had a son a few months older than me, and we babysat him for a month during their honeymoon. Well, this boy wasn’t a good influence on me at all, but that’s beside the point. I thought he was… you know what, that actually is the point, but…. I though he was cool, and he could do things and did things that I wanted to try.
Well, one day, we laid out flat a futon and covered it with all the cushions and pillows from the couch that was also downstairs. Then, he grabbed an exercise ball, put it on the futon, got on it, rolled across the futon over the pillows, and stood up on the other side of the futon when he was done and I was so impressed, it blew my mind that he laid his midsection on the ball and rolled the ball like 6 feet and didn’t move or fall off of the exercise ball as it rolled.
So I tried it. And at the end, I slid off the ball, but not to land. I didn’t know how he stayed horizontal, and it showed, as I fell forward and slammed the side of me head into the corner of a cabinet right next to the far side of the cabinet. It hurt, and so I didn’t try a second time… until he successfully did it again a few minutes later. So I, desperately wanting to do it right and be “cool” like him, tried to do it again.
And I hit the exact same part of the side of my head on the corner of the cabinet again, almost exactly how my run went the first time. After the second hit, my head really hurt, and so I put my hands to my head, ran halfway up the stairs, and began to cry.
Also know that I was going through a phase where I loved to fake cry. I thought imitating the sounds of crying without the tears was one of the funniest things. And my mom hated it. She was a stay-at-home mom at that point, had been from a few months before I was born until my youngest sister entered elementary school with us. And so she was at home all day, every day (hence the babysitting). So, for the two months of summer by that point, my fake crying obsession was driving her up the wall.
Back to the story. Now, I’m sitting on the staircase, hands on my head because it hurts, tears forming in my eyes and my voice beginning to make all the crying sounds that I made when I was fake crying all summer so I guess my imitations were spot on. But after about a minute, I decided remove my arms from my head, and I looked at them, and there were lines of blood all the way from my fingers to my elbows and drops had fallen from my elbows onto my sock, and I shrieked.
I immediately went back down the stairs to the office where mom was on the computer, and the tears were coming almost as steady as the blood, and I was full-out crying. My mom, who was looking at the screen and thus only heard me crying, lashed out angrily, telling me to stop bothering her with that freaking fake crying. That is, until I got her to look at my arms. She took me upstairs and cleaned me up a little, but, while my bleeding slowed significantly, it didn’t stop.
After about 3 hours, my dad came home from work, and the bleeding still hadn’t stopped, and so we went to the hospital. I ended up getting 5 or 6 stitches, and when my hair is cut short enough, you can see the small white line.
That’s the only scar that I definitely know that I have. I haven’t really done anything physically risky since. That’s also pretty much when I stopped crying all that much…
143:Favourite pizza toping?
Extra cheese. Otherwise, sausage.
144:Am I afraid of the dark?
Only if I’m trying to sneak through somewhere and I can’t see where exactly I’m going
145:Am I afraid of heights?
Yeah, I would say I have a mild fear of heights. Specifically if I have to go down somewhere (like downhill slightly and there is a sharp decline on one side), or if I have to jump more than like 3 feet
146:Have I ever got caught sneaking out or doing anything bad?
I’ve been reprimanded for going out for most of the day and not saying anything, just disappearing for like 6 hours on a Sunday morning
147:Have I ever tried my hardest and then gotten disappointed in the end?
I never try my hardest
148:What I’m really bad at
Emailing people I need to, cleaning, hygiene, contacting people, calling people on the phone/talking to people on the phone, doing what I need to do
149:What my greatest achievements are
I graduated from high school, I won an CYO volleyball championship in sixth grade, I won a math competition in 7th grade (by guessing better than 19 other 7th and 8th graders from two different schools), and I…….. I haven’t really done much yet, nothing truly worthwhile (except maybe hs graduation)
150:The meanest thing somebody has ever said to me
I can’t think of anything, really. Although some acquaintances of mine made anti-Semitic “jokes” in front of me during summer camp this year and it bothered me a lot
151:What I’d do if I won in a lottery
I’d buy a large enough apartment to have space to wander around (picture Castle’s apartment from the show Castle, and pretty much like that but a little less opulent and I don’t need all the ornate luxuries around. Just the space of like 5-7 medium/large open rooms with a comfortable bed and a non-cramped bathroom or two, and a nice big kitchen for all the food I’m going to have.
I’d always have root beer in stock, along with some snacks that I like, and I’d have whatever foods my friends like because my closest friends would have invitations to come at literally any time (like, this is for max 6 people), and I’d like to regularly meet up with my closest friends and I’ll treat them to nice filling dinners at the local diners, Denny’s, wherever they want, even McDonald’s or whatever, and I’ll tip really well, like at least $50 dollars because those people are always so nice, and I’ll splurge so much on my friends.
I’d also donate a bunch to all of those people who really need it that I see come across my dash, and I’ll donate a crapload to my high school band because they meant the world to me, and I’d FUND THE ARTS BECAUSE THE ARTS ARE IMPORTANT.
152:What do I like about myself
I like that I love the arts and that I play the tuba and that I am getting into writing music and that I write poetry and that I love my friends especially my best friend and I like that I try to be positive and supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and that I actively try to make the world a slightly happier place most of the time
153:My closest Tumblr friend
Katie
154:Something I fantasize about
Getting to spend long periods of time with my best friend, having a bunch of money to spend on my best friend, being happy
155:Any question you’d like?
What is your favorite video game that you own that you’ve never seen elsewhere and is likely not well-known at all?
I love the game Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for the Wii, and I can play it for hours upon hours for days and not get bored. It’s a really fun game with a long storyline that is entertaining and original, and I just love playing it and have literally only ever seen it at our house since my mom somehow found it and bought it like 7 years ago.
(yes, I made that question up myself)
Thank you for asking all of these!!!!!
(when I copied and pasted it to a google doc in case the computer shuts down and I lose the whole answer, it said that I had 4825 words and it took up 17 pages. So, yeah, this is 4867 words long!)
(And I was right, the everything disappeared and so I had to post it early so I could go back and edit it, so now it’s 4900 words long in total, after editing.)

I haven’t quite perfected my bird spreadsheet yet, but I have all of the frequency statistics in place so I can see which are the most and least common British birds. Remember that these statistics are the frequency with which birdwatchers recording data on the BirdTrack website record the species in their checklists during the peak week for that species (so the frequency would be less for any other week). So it’s not exactly “common” and “rare” that we’re talking about, but some combination of actual rarity, accessibility and ease of identifiability, and it’s all with respect to the time of year at which each bird is most common.
Most common
The single most common bird in the UK, by this measure, is the blackbird, which appears in 77.75% of lists during the peak week (in December), and is similarly frequent during the rest of the year although there’s a dip to about 45% from July to November. This doesn’t surprise me at all. Blackbirds are very common, are often found near urban areas and gardens, and are very easy to identify.
Not far behind is the woodpigeon, which appears in 75.89% of lists. I have only recently started noticing this bird as distinct from the feral pigeon, but certainly here in Edinburgh, woodpigeons are very abundant so this doesn’t surprise me either. I’m sure feral pigeons would be very high up on the list, and probably higher than blackbirds and woodpigeons if they were counted, but I guess most birdwatchers don’t count feral birds in their lists. The woodpigeon is by far the most common non-songbird.
Four runners-up around the 70% mark are the robin (71.30%, March), the chaffinch (70.10%, April), the blue tit (68.92%, March) and the carrion crow (68.37%, March). Crows being here is no surprise---they’re very common in my experience. The other three are moderately surprising to me. I have seen plenty of robins, but they’re still a bird I'm somewhat excited to see when I see one (I saw a lot of them in York, but I don’t think I’ve seen one since coming to Edinburgh; and I’ve seen them in my garden at home in Rainhil now and then, but not tremendously often). And I’ve never seen a chaffinch, or a blue tit. Maybe I’ve passed over chaffinches because I’m not very familiar with them. But I think I’d know a blue tit if I saw one. I see lots of tits, but they’re all great tits.
That said, great tits are close behind, at 63.82% during April. In a similar league are wrens (64.62%, April), which is unsurprising to me. I don’t see wrens all that often, but they’re tiny and not always easy to spot so the fact that I do spot a fair few nonetheless is a testament to how common they are.
The remaining birds that appear in over half of lists at their peak weeks are magpies (60.43% in December), swallows (58.55% in September), dunnocks (57.45% in March), black-headed gulls (56.93% in January), mallards (55.34% in April), chiffchaffs (54.49% in April), and starlings (53.09% in November). Note that swallows, chiffchaffs and starlings are migratory birds which are absent during the winter (for swallows and chiffchaffs) and the summer (for starlings), whereas all the other birds I’ve mentioned up to now are year-round residents, so these migatory birds can be counted as a little more hard-to-find on that basis. I’ve never knowingly seen a dunnock or a chiffchaff, but I’ve seen all the others; and probably the reason I’ve never seen a dunnock or a chiffchaff is that I don’t know what these birds look like.
I imagine if you put “gulls” in an aggregate they might end up appearing on 80% or 90% of lists, but since there are quite a few species and they’re hard to differentiate the figure is less; still, black-headed gulls getting onto 56.93% of lists is quite impressive.
Most of the commonest birds are songbirds. The only other non-passeriforms appearing in more than a third of lists at peak are swifts (42.91% in July), pheasants (41.31% in April), herring gulls (38.18% in October), moorhens (37.70% in March), cormorants (35.60% in September), and grey herons (33.83% in September). All of these are birds that I have seen frequently.
Somewhat surprisingly, the most common bird of prey is the buzzard (28.81% in April). I would have thought it’d be the kestrel; I’ve never seen a buzzard. Apparently they were once rare due to persecution, but have now greatly increased in numbers. The kestrel is still not far behind at 26.52% in October. The most common owl is the little owl (3.22% in July), which is actually an introduced species---of course owls suffer in these figures from being hard to see.
The most common wader is the oystercatcher (26.12% in July); the most common woodpecker is the great spotted woodpecker (22.51% in April); the most common procellariiform is the fulmar (7.71% in August); and the most common diver is the red-throated diver (5.00% in September).
Rarest
There are some birds that have only been recorded a handful of times (or even just once) in the British Isles, as vagrants from their normal range, such as albatrosses. Many vagrants, if sighted in the wild, can be reported to the British Rare Birds Committee who will assess the veracity of the claim and publish a report on it. However, there are a lot of vagrants which occur regularly enough in the British Isles that the British Rare Birds Committee no longer includes them on the list of birds it studies; these birds are known as “scarce migrants”. I’ve included only vagrants with scarce migrant status in my spreadsheet. Naturally, most of the rarest birds on the spreadsheet are among these scarce migrants. The two joint rarest are the black kite (0.03% in May) and the aquatic warbler (0.03% in August), although the exact figures are probably not very meaningful when they’re so low. Every possible two-decimal place percentage from 0.03% up to 0.15% is populated by a number of species, mostly scarce migrants.
There are a few non-scarce migrants populating these percentages too, though. The rarest, at 0.05%, are the golden pheasant (February), the parrot crossbill (January) and the Scottish crossbill (April). The Scottish crossbill is particularly notable for being the only bird species endemic to the British Isles. However, its rarity according to these figures may be a little misleading. The Scottish crossbill and the parrot crossbill are actually pretty much identical in appearance to the common crossbill (1.45%, October), differing only slightly in the shapes of their bills, which isn’t much use when you can’t make precise measurements. They do have somewhat different calls (which are recognized as different by the birds, so that the three species don’t interbreed, though they probably would be capable of fertile hybridization), although the calls are still quite similar; so the low figures for the parrot crossbill and the Scottish crossbill may be due to birdwatchers assuming any crossbill they come across is a common crossbill, given that they have little chance of successfully distinguishing the three species.
The golden pheasant's rarity is also somewhat misleading because this is an introduced species with a very limited range. If you go to one of the forests where golden pheasants are known to roam, they probably won’t be quite as elusive as the 0.05% figure suggests (although they’re still definitely not easy to find). Another species of introduced pheasant, Lady Amherst’s pheasant, was in a similar situation but the population has now almost died out---there is apparently just one male remaining in a forest in Bedfordshire.
So the rarest non-scarce migrant which isn’t an introduction or practically the same as a commoner species is the capercaillie (0.07%, April). This is not too surprising as the capercaillie is one of the most endangered British birds at the moment. They already went extinct once here during the 18th century; they were reintroduced during the 19th but recently they’ve started approaching extinction again due to habitat loss. Although large and very recognizable, capercaillies are pretty inaccessible as they live only in the pine forests of the Scottish highlands.
The frequencies for ptarmigans are also very low---the peak is 0.11% in May. But this is probably in large part due to the fact that ptarmigans are only found at very high elevations in the Scottish highlands, and it’s not every day that birdwatchers go climbing mountains. Likewise, crested tits (0.15%, August) owe their rarity to their localization to a few ancient Scottish forests. White-tailed eagles (0.17%, May) have a similar story to the capercaillie---they were almost eradicated and have since been reintroduced---the reintroduction is going better than the capercaillie reintroduction, but it’s only begun recently so the birds are still pretty rare. Cirl buntings (0.20%, August) are only found in southern Devon. So the rarest resident British bird which still has a reasonably wide distribution is--actually there are two joint winners: the golden eagle (0.33%, June), a very charismatic rarity, and the hawfinch (0.33%, January). According to Wikipedia the hawfinch only started breeding in the British Isles during the 19th century, and they have always been quite rare, although there has been a decline from peak numbers in the 1980s.
