I would enjoy to see your playlists 👉👈
I've got sooooooo many lmao but ok here are some of my most "these are in a state I'm pleased with" and maybe some of them will land! 👉👈
I've got great big playlists of music that "sounds like" a particular decade to me. hands down my nineties playlist is my favorite, very grungy alt rock with splashes of house and trip hop. the eighties playlist is also good, very new wave. the thing is, I do still need to add more 80s/90s hip-hop and 80s funk than they have currently, but I'm largely happy with them.
I've also been experimenting with making playlists that sound like a certain time of year. so here's muggy folk music for hot summer nights and my not-a-christmas-playlist of wintry midcentury jazz standards.
more general mood music here are some chill tracks that are perfect to me. here's some trashy indie rock and electro pop that's like millenial catnip to me. here's a playlist where I was trying to capture that same sound but it's specifically about queer women partying hard and fucking nasty. here is a disco/glam/dance punk playlist where after I finished it I was like "wow that's gayer than I expected" but I don't know why bc the songs I based the sound on were scissor sisters, mika, and elton john?!? I may be stupid. and here's my official bleaching my hair in my bathroom playlist. it's about women.
more conceptually here's a playlist about being stuck in a time loop and also maybe stuck in the 60s or 70s. and here's my thesis about how water is woman-coded. and here's "what if the fey realm were an abandoned mall with a roller disco." and here's a technogoth vampire night club for an urban shadows campaign I'll never get to run
fandomwise here's a playlist for kendall roy sucks session that I will maybe one day update for the latest season. and here's a folk/americana fanmix for magnus archives the buried. maybe one day I will finish the others. then there's my current Ravenloft Problem. there's the ravenloft megamix and the ravenloft pre-y2k throwback mix, and then there's the strahd von zarovich aggression mix, the seduction mix, and the angst mix. and then there's the angst mix's opposing pov, the tatyana mix.
generally speaking if a playlist is meant to be consumed shuffled or played in order it will say 🔀 or ▶️ in the description. otherwise follow your heart.

Today’s compilation:
Pure Disco 1996 Disco / Funk / Dance-Pop
youtube
I think Leo Stanley over at AllMusic flat out LIED when he claimed to have listened to this album. He said it was chock full of both remixes and 12-inch mixes of disco classics, but I listened to it and that's just not the case at all. There's only one remix on here: a pretty good mid-90s big club banger of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" by the production duo of Rollo and Sister Bliss from Faithless. The rest of it is just radio and 7-inch single edits of some of disco's biggest hits from the mid-70s through early 80s.
In essence, Pure Disco is a cheat code comp. I mean, you simply can't go wrong with a giant slab of great hits. It lacks originality, sure, but you really can't say that it's bad, because everything on it is good.
But it's actually a tad more than meets the eye, because while it's loaded with disco hits that killed it on the US charts, I think whoever compiled it is actually British. There's a small handful of tunes on here, like "Flashback" by Imagination, which sports a high-pitched lead male falsetto that smacks of Jimmy Somerville of Bronski Beat and The Communards, and "Cuba" by Gibson Brothers, that were much more successful across the pond than they were in the States.
Oh, and apparently, according to the fantastically ridiculous ad at the top of the post, one of this album's selling points was that it was the only place that you could find "The Grease Megamix" at that time, which is an added bonus track that's a medley of songs from Grease and is neither good nor disco???😂🤷‍♂️
Anyways, this mostly serves as baby's first disco album, but with a slight British bent. Worth checking out if you've managed to live under a rock your whole life, but also, if you're not from the UK, there may be a small handful of tunes you've never heard before either. I know I hadn't!
Highlights:
Village People - "Y.M.C.A." Kool & the Gang - "Celebration" ABBA - "Dancing Queen" Donna Summer - "Hot Stuff" Gloria Gaynor - "I Will Survive" Barry White - "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" Teena Marie - "I Need Your Lovin'" Amii Stewart - "Knock on Wood" Alicia Bridges - "I Love the Nightlife" Imagination - "Flashback" KC and the Sunshine Band - "That's the Way (I Like It)" The Ritchie Family - "Best Disco in Town" Yvonne Elliman - "If I Can't Have You" The Gap Band - "Oops Upside Your Head (I Don't Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance)" Diana Ross - "Love Hangover" Gibson Brothers - "Cuba" Lipps, Inc. - "Funkytown" Marvin Gaye - "Got to Give It Up, Part 1" Thelma Houston - "Don't Leave Me This Way" Donna Summer - "I Feel Love (Rollo & Sister Bliss Monster mix radio edit)"

Back in February I did an exclusive 7inch-only vinyl mix for the 45/7 Vinyl Club folks in Germany, and it’s online now - click the Soundcloud player above to stream it, or head to Mixcloud if that’s your preferred site for listening! Felix was good enough to send over some promo goodies for me, including the unique artwork used for my mix - see images below.
At some point in the future, when we all figure out our new normal, I can recommend a trip to the Mojo Club in Hamburg to check out the 45/7 Vinyl Club for yourselves!
Tumblr media
1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.
I've been playing drums since the late 80s and started DJing with a friend I met at University in the early 90s. At that point I only had a handful of records - mostly albums, some borrowed from my parents collection, some that I'd been finding in second hand shops, and a few new releases. Musical styles were fairly broad, I'd been really into blues & jazz for some time, and that crossed over into the rare groove sounds that were all around London at that time, which led back to deeper funk sounds. All these styles were being heavily sampled in the contemporary hip hop of the era, so I was soon spending plenty on new hip hop whilst simultaneously trying to catch up on tracks I'd been aware of in the late 80s, and enjoyed, but hadn't been buying. Luckily, 2nd hand vinyl was plentiful and cheap in those days, so the collection was growing pretty rapidly at that time. I guess by now I have a couple of thousand 12" singles, and a similar number of albums, plus around 1000 7"s - so it takes a bit more organising these days, but it's always great to dig back through - especially for mixes like this!
Tumblr media
2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.
As with a lot of people my age, 7's were some of the first records I bought as a kid, and I had my parent's old record player in my bedroom from the age of about 10. I ended up with a bunch of Beatles and Rolling Stones 45s that I'd find at jumble sales, and remember spending time with a tennis racket in front of the mirror trying to do the Shadows dance steps like Hank Marvin. The first new record I bought was probably something by The Police or The Beat I think - both early 80s school disco favourites! The 7" was still a pop format in the early 90s, so as dance music crossed over into mainstream charts, it was still the cheapest way of getting tunes to DJ with, so I have a bunch of things from that era on 7" but not on 12". Buying Hip Hop 45s for 99p seems like only yesterday! ;)
Tumblr media
3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?
I had a bit of rummage through the 45 shelves and pulled a few things that I haven't played out for a while, alongside some new releases, some of my own and a couple of classics that are always in my box. The Jazzman and Now Again re-issues from the early 00s are all great - making available things that hadn't been on 45 before. Jazzman did great work in selecting some super hard-to-find library tracks, and Now Again just keep digging up the most amazing unreleased music from the 60s and 70s. I have a bit of a thing for covers of 'Tramp' and the Julie Driscoll / Brian Auger version is one of my favourites, such a lazy but irresistible groove - always gets people moving. DJ Format is always a surefire hit on the dancefloor, whether it's with his original productions or themed cut n paste megamixes, and 'Saturday Night Theme' is a great party hip hop track. Likewise, Quantic's work has covered so much ground over the last 20 years and he has a great ear for an arrangement. His cover of 'That Thing' showcases his knack in that area once again.
Tumblr media
4) Where can people catch you / listen to your music?
Keep an eye on rubberfunk.net for DJ dates, hoping to be out and about later in the year, and you can hear the new album 'My Life At 45' over on my Bandcamp page : drrubberfunk.bandcamp.com
5) Top 5 all time fave records
Impossible to choose an all-time Top 5, but here's 5 of my most played 45s that never leave my record box! 1. Stevie Wonder - 'We Can Work It Out' - Motown 2. Beastie Boys - 'Intergalactic' - Grand Royale 3. This Kid Named Miles - 'Ring Of Fire' - Alatac 4. James Brown - 'Give It Up Or Turnit A Loose' 5. Gladys Knight & The Pips - 'You Need Love Like I Do (Don't You)' - Soul

Within the United States music in always evolving, and in recent years this evolution of music has sped up to a very fast rate. Music has evolved for a lot of causes including, improved expertise, and change in tradition, and a desire to create one thing new.
Primarily change in music has been related to the culture. In the course of the Middle Ages music on a regular basis music was situated in two locations, the church and the tavern. This was not a very good environment for good music to bloom. However download hip hop urban club music megamix 2015 throughout the Baroque period, 1600-1750, rich individuals began to hire musicians to compose music for them. These patrons would pay the musicians to compose and play music for the patrons enjoyment, and for entertainment at his or her events.
Music didn't change very a lot in Europe for a long time. In America music was began to evolve in its own manner. This new country had a tradition of its personal and this was reflected in its music and dancing. One of the most important types of music originated in Detroit, and it's called big band. It's called large band, as a result of a big band was used to create snappy, catchy tunes. This model of music soon grew to become in style in Europe as well as America in the 1920s. Massive band music was very optimistic for America as a method of enjoyment and entertainment.
Adolf Rickenbacker invented the electrical guitar within the later Twenties and in doing so he changed music endlessly. This was the first time that people began to use electricity to amplify their devices. Furthermore with the invention of the electrical guitar came the beginning Jeloz - Pegaito a la Pared [Official Video] latin disco music of Jazz music. Earlier than the electric guitar came onto the scene it was almost impossible to include a guitar into band music as a result of it was not loud sufficient, but the electric guitar solved the volume issue. African Americans strongly join rhythm with their music.
Tumblr media
This can be seen in the tribal music of Africa which consists of drumming and singing. African People took maintain of the electrical guitar and used it to throw poppy grooves over the brass devices and Jazz was born. Jazz was a type of music that spoke out as a bit of a insurrection against the culture. It was nothing just like the music that was performed in church, and it was perfect for dancing to. African Individuals took maintain of Jazz and made it a part of their culture. However racism still ran deep in the American culture and lots of whites dislike jazz music just because it was usually carried out by black musicians.
Nonetheless white musicians started to play the songs initially written and performed by African People, as soon as this started to happen extra whites started to appreciate Jazz. By some means certain whites thought it was OK to hearken to Jazz as long as it was performed by other whites. General Jazz music was very optimistic for the American culture because it helped give pleasure to the African People.
As long as the tradition continues to change their will likely be a mirrored image of this in the music that is composed. America in particular has a culture that's always altering urban club music and growing, and it will, and has, result in a continuing change in music. Rock n Roll came onto the scene within the late 40s and from its start it was about rebellion.
The phrase "rock," as utilized in Rock n Roll, means to shake issues up, and the phrase "roll" is slang for sexual intercourse. Rolling Stone argued that Elvis Presley's hit "That's alright mama" 1954, was the primary Rock n Roll music, however that is very debatable. In the Fifties the youth had been transferring out from the submit battle era, and moving right into a tradition of fun loving freedom. Elvis Presley hit the scene wielding his electrical guitar and rocking to catchy tunes. Though by at the moment's standards Presley's music is taken into account tame, within the Fifties he was on the chopping fringe of adolescent revolt. Presley was criticized for gyrating his pelvis during performances, this and his "soiled" lyrics led to a couple of his songs being banned from sure radio stations.
Elvis could not be stopped and his reputation continued to grow wildly. The culture continued to alter with the introduction of birth control through the 60s and this led to hippie era which was deeply rooted in music, notably folks and rock n roll. Hippies had been all about having "free love" which meant that it's best to be capable to have intercourse with whomever, wherever, and whenever you wished, as long as you weren't hurting anybody else. The Hippie motion has had very damaging effects on society, and it was fueled by rock n roll music.
Tumblr media
New Expertise was launched in the Sixties-70s that paved the best way for many new styles. This know-how was the usage of digital effects that had been placed into songs. This technology was brought into the center of pop culture with disco music. Disco Music has a powerful melody with deep beats which can be perfect for dancing. This sort of dancing is not technical in nature people of all totally different skill ranges could urban club music 2014 take part. However the adolescent tradition of the time was break up between the pop sound of the disco, and the cool rise up of rock n roll. Most of those modifications in music have been as a result of tradition, and more immediately the culture of the youth. Though individuals of all ages benefit from the music it's primarily the adolescents that have been and are shaping the music in the twentieth century and beyond.
The effect of the music on the cultures is tough to put in a strictly optimistic or destructive mild. Of the examples of music tendencies given earlier, some have been positive and a few have been unfavourable. Nonetheless it can't be stated that they are wholly good or wholly unhealthy. These modifications in music mirrored the culture that they had been brought into, and sometimes these changes led to good and dangerous reform. There are some fads in music that many would argue are fully damaging, resembling rap.
The vast majority of rap music that is played on the radio is filled with explicit content, and because of this is receives a foul wrap. Rap music is usually impressed by gangster life, but people do not contemplate that when these individuals are writing music instead of beginning fights on the street. Though Jeloz - Pegaito a la Pared [Official Video] youtube latin music videos rap music is often inappropriate it has given individuals the African American youth one thing constructive to do with their time, that will not lead them to being perceived as losers by the opposite gangsters. Due to this fact rap has each positive and damaging points as do must trends in music.
America has started a number of tendencies and fads with reference to music, and they're going to continue to take action. Since America is a melting pot of cultures there is a huge wealth of recent music that can turn out to be apparent as extra time passes. If there was to be a standstill in the music industry, there would need to be a standstill in the tradition. However the culture of the American youth has been continuously changing Jeloz - Pegaito a la Pared [Official Video] urban club music at an rising pace. With all of this modification there is no sign that the music industry is going to slow down. New songs are all the time going to be composed, and new kinds of music will always be coming to the floor of the musical world. The research of the popular music in a culture gives an individual deep insight on the values of the culture, as a result of a populations tradition is straight linked to their music.
