#60 round tablecloths

Text
I will say that working on this crochet lace tablecloth has been a boost for my confidence in my ability to read weird patterns. It's a pattern from the 1890's and good lord has it been difficult to read. Not so much to crochet each round once it gets going, but actually read the thing and figure out wtf is meant. Nothing is standardized and there are sections where clearly the writer ASSUMES the reader already knows wtf they're on about, but there is no explanation anywhere.
And somehow I'm making it work. I'm on round 60 and haven't died yet.

Feral Lizard Shifter - CR 1 Shifter
Insert Jungle Book song of your choice here.
Tumblr media
Artwork from Flip Flappers by Studio 3Hz, badly edited by me.
A feral lizard shifter is a wild feral child, who has learned to fight as the beasts do.  Perhaps a family of wild fire drakes found this orc girl as a baby and nurtured her, raising the feral child.  She uses supernatural powers granted to her by the gods, emulating the abilities of the creatures that cared for her.
In combat, this NPC is likely to fight alongside wild beasts, using combat maneuvers to grapple, push and trip her targets.  Raised among drakes, she’s comfortable with heights and will attempt to lure her enemies near cliffs to push them off, since she understands that her own strength is limited.  She relies on her stealth to get a surprise round.
Usually the young template is worth -1 challenge rating, but this is still very much a CR 1 enemy.  It didn’t have any natural armor to lose, and it has Agile Maneuvers so the strength penalty doesn’t mean as much.
Feral Lizard Shifter - CR 1
Dressed only in what appears to be a tablecloth that she seems to have bitten a hole in the middle of and used as a poncho, this feral orc child snarls at you.  She can’t possibly be more than five or six years old.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Minor Lizard Aspect (Su) The feral lizard shifter can shift into her lizard aspect’s minor form for 5 minutes per day, gaining gain a +4 competence bonus on Acrobatics checks.  The duration need not be consecutive but must be spent in 1-minute increments.  Shifting into a minor form is a swift action, while ending the effect is a free action that can be taken only on the shifter’s turn.  This is not a polymorph effect, and the shifter does not lose the benefits of a minor form while affected by polymorph effects.
Wild Empathy (Ex) The feral lizard shifter can improve the attitude of an animal.  This ability functions as a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person.  The feral lizard shifter rolls 1d20-1 to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the feral lizard shifter and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another and under normal conditions.  Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
The feral lizard shifter can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.
Feral Ferocity (Ex) The feral lizard shifter possesses the ferocity ability which allows her to remain conscious and continue fighting even if their hit point totals fall below 0.  The feral lizard shifter is still staggered at 0 hit points or lower and loses 1 hit point each round as normal.  Additionally, the feral lizard shifter gains a +1 racial bonus on melee weapon attack and damage rolls when at negative hit points.
Dayrunner (Ex) The feral lizard shifter suffers a –2 penalty on all ranged attack rolls.
Defensive Instinct (Ex) When unarmored, not using a shield, unencumbered, and conscious, the feral lizard shifter adds her Wisdom bonus (if any) to her AC and CMD. If she is wearing nonmetal armor or using a nonmetal shield, she instead adds half her Wisdom bonus to her AC (minimum 0). This is already calculated into her statistics.
These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks and when the shifter is flat-footed. She loses these bonuses when she is immobilized or helpless.

Day 10: Sunday 29th September, 2024 [Wellington]
Breakfast: coffee and fried egg on toast Lunch: Conference catering: chicken wrap, frittata & orange cake Dinner: Indian feast
Today was a much better day! We woke up at 8am, had brekky at the apartment then us girls walked down to the conference at 9am with the good intention to attend every session. Tim was presenting in the second session and wanted some time to prepare, so stayed at home.
Jane, Amara and I attended a session about Generative AI which was great, but the presenter did too much talking and not enough letting us explore the things she was talking about. She had prepared a very cohesive website of all her resources. Her overarching message was that we “need to ensure that we use AI in a way that does the dishes and not the art”. She ran through a myriad of ways of use AI to help boost creativity in the classroom instead of letting it have a negative influence on students. She said that “AI is used to improve learning, not as a substitute for learning”.
After morning tea, Jane and I headed to Tim’s session about behaviour management in Drama classrooms. He did a fantastic job and it was great to see the different approaches from Aussie, New Zealand and South African teachers. Tim spoke about creating ‘brave spaces’ instead of ‘safe spaces’ for students to learn and ran an immersive exercise where we got to play ‘naughty’ or ‘disruptive’ students in a Drama class. A lot of teachers, including Jane, found it very cathartic. I played the teacher in one of the game activities and it was so stressful having a whole class of naughty kids.
After lunch, I attended a workshop by a dude called Asher Johnson who talked about ‘teacher as playwright’ - his PhD focus. He spoke passionately about his ability to write plays for his students and talked us through his process and the ‘film theory’ of storytelling but, like the first session of the day, spent most of the time talking and not enough time letting us do. I took a lot of notes in this session, but wish I’d been given mroe time to workshop my own ideas after learning his process.
In the last session of the day Tim, Amara and I presented our workshop “From Roots to Fruition: Devising A Drama Ensemble Stimulus”. We only had 9 participants, which was a shame, but they were an enthusiastic bunch. Upon reflection, we should have tailored our workshop more to ‘this is how we do things in Australia’ instead of ‘try this thing we do in Australia’ as the delegates had more questions than we anticipated about our assessments and processes and whilst it was a good conversation, it ate in to the time for what we had planned. We got them to read a story by a First Nations author before pulling out ideas for a group performance and then creating one of the first scenes. They did a great job!
At the end of a very busy day, we walked back to the apartment to drop off our stuff, meet Jane, and head into town for dinner with some Drama Vic friends. Tim had booked a Malaysian place he’d found on Google, but when we arrived it was just a classic takeaway place with strip lighting and plastic tables, so we looked elsewhere for somewhere ‘a bit nicer’. Amara found an Indian restaurant called Great India with ‘actual white tablecloths’ a few doors down and they had a table for 10, so we went in. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious (we all ordered a curry each, ordered rice, naan and wine for the table and then shared our curries) and everyone had a great, round table discussion about the conference's highs and lows. My uni teacher Jo, is the current President of Drama Aus and gave us some good inside gossip about the behind-the-scenes planning. Dinner was only $60 per head when split equally, which was delightful.
After dinner, a few people were keen for Karaoke, but in classic New Zealand style, nothing was bloody open. We found another Drama Vic person, Kel, along the way, who was also keen for a sing, but despite our march around the city, nothing was open or available to us. We settled for a dingy American-style bar for a drink with Kel before heading home to bed.
Tim goes home tomorrow, but Jane stays one more night before Amara and I stay 2 nights at the Movenpick in town by ourselves. I am very much looking forward to nights that are free from snoring!!

Rectangle and Round Tablecloth Size Chart
Selecting the right tablecloth can transform your dining experience, but getting the perfect size can be a challenge. Understanding tablecloth sizes is crucial to ensure a perfect fit and an elegant look. At Amazing Warehouse Inc., we provide a detailed rectangle and round tablecloth size chart to help you make the right choice.
For rectangle tables, measure the table’s length and width and add the desired drop length to each side. For example, if your table measures 60 inches by 120 inches and you want a 10-inch drop, your tablecloth should be 80 inches by 140 inches. Similarly, for round tables, measure the diameter of the table and add twice the desired drop length. A table with a 50-inch diameter and a 12-inch drop would need a 74-inch diameter tablecloth.

Choosing the Perfect Dining Table: A Comprehensive Guide
A dining table is more than just a piece of furniture; it's the centrepiece of your dining area, where meals are shared, stories are told, and memories are made. Selecting the right dining table involves considering several key factors to ensure it meets both functional and aesthetic needs.
Whether you're furnishing a new home or looking to upgrade your current dining space, this guide will help you navigate the myriad Custom hardwood dining table options available.
Understanding Different Types of Dining Tables
Dining tables come in various shapes, sizes, materials, and styles. The choice depends largely on your personal taste, space constraints, and the overall décor of your home.
Rectangular Dining Tables:These are the most common and versatile options, suitable for both small and large dining rooms. They provide ample seating and work well for families or households that frequently entertain guests.
Round Dining Tables:Ideal for smaller spaces or intimate gatherings, round tables promote conversation and create a cosy dining atmosphere. They also eliminate sharp corners, making them safer for households with children.
Square Dining Tables:These tables are a modern alternative to rectangular ones and are perfect for smaller groups. They can create a more intimate dining experience and fit well in square-shaped rooms.
Extension Dining Tables:Designed for flexibility, extension tables can be expanded to accommodate extra guests when needed. They are great for those who host occasional large gatherings but want to save space on a day-to-day basis.
Tumblr media
Choosing the Right Size
The size of your custom dining tables should be proportional to the size of your dining area and the number of people you expect to seat regularly. Here's a general guideline:
Rectangular Tables:Allow at least 24 inches of width per person to comfortably dine. For example, a table that is 72 inches long can typically seat six people.
Round Tables:A diameter of 48 inches can comfortably seat four to six people, while larger tables (60 inches or more) can accommodate up to eight.
Square Tables:Aim for a width of at least 36 inches per person. A 36-inch square table can seat four people comfortably.
Materials and Durability
Dining tables are crafted from a variety of materials, each offering unique hardwood dining table aesthetics and durability:
Wood:Timeless and durable, wood tables are available in a range of finishes such as oak, walnut, and maple. Hardwoods like oak and mahogany are particularly sturdy and can withstand daily use.
Glass:Glass tables create a modern and airy look. They are easy to clean but may require more maintenance to keep fingerprints and smudges at bay.
Metal:Tables with metal frames or accents are stylish and often more lightweight than wood or glass. Look for custom dining tables with powder-coated finishes to prevent rust and scratches.
Marble or Stone:These tables exude luxury and elegance. While durable, they require regular maintenance to prevent staining and scratching.
Matching Your Dining Table to Your Décor
Consider the existing décor of your dining area when selecting a table:
Traditional Style:Opt for tables with intricate detailing and rich finishes like cherry or mahogany.
Modern Style:Choose tables with clean lines, minimalist designs, and materials like glass or sleek metals.
Rustic Style:Embrace natural materials such as reclaimed wood or distressed finishes.
Budget Considerations
Dining tables range widely in price depending on size, material, and craftsmanship. Set a budget early on and prioritise quality over price whenever possible, as a well-made dining table can last for generations.
Maintenance Tips
To extend the lifespan of your dining table:
Regular Cleaning:Use a soft cloth and mild soap to clean surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can damage finishes.
Protection:Use placemats, coasters, and tablecloths to protect against spills, heat, and scratches.
Avoid Direct Sunlight:Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade wood finishes and damage other materials.
Final Words
Choosing the perfect hardwood dining table involves careful consideration of size, shape, material, and style to complement your dining space and lifestyle. By understanding these factors and evaluating your specific needs, you can make an informed decision that enhances both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of your home.
Whether you prefer the classic elegance of wood or the contemporary allure of glass, your dining table should reflect your personal style while serving as a gathering place for cherished moments with family and friends.
