When he heard the fifth talon speak, Emmrich was quick to gently motion Lucanis to leave, and let them speak. After a quick argument, the first talon left, and Emmrich sighed, turning to face Viago. Approaching the other and stopping before he got too close. He placed one hand over the other, and rested them in front of himself.

"I am not planning on killing Johanna unless it proves necessary, if there's any chance I can convince her...I am going to take it."

rook's  sigh  is  stifled  but  still  audible,  barely-there  but  noticeable—certainly  to  somebody  with  a  keen  eye  such  as  viago's.  their  fingers  flex  around  the  railings  of  the  upper  floor  of  the  cantori  diamond,  their  eyes  purposefully  avoiding  their  mentor's  as  they  stare  down  at  the  people  below.  i'm  fine,  rook  had  lied,  though  their  body  language  had  betrayed  them  on  that  front.  who  would  be  fine  after  learning  the  things  rook  did  in  the  fade?  after  being  tormented  with  their  choices?  regrets?  their  loss? 

should a crow be beyond whatever rook is feeling, or is this to be expected even for anyone after everything they've faced? they're not sure where the balance lies. rook feels like they're failing at meeting expectations,   just  like  they  failed  viago  and  the  crows with the antaam  and  then varric.  by  all  means,  rook  should  be  dead, murdered for the shame they brought upon house de riva.  and  yet  for  some  reason—which has everything to do with viago—they're  still  standing.

"does  it  matter?"  rook  retorts,  fingers  coming up  to  brush  against  their  brow.

there's  a  weight  to  their  shoulders  that  wasn't  there  before,  not  even  after  failing  minrathous.  it's  grief.  they  feel  like  a  fool  for  not  noticing  that  something  was  amiss  sooner;  the  loss  they  should've  felt  weeks  ago  is  all  coming  crashing  down  on  them  now, not to mention the losses they suffered on tearstone island. there's  no  time  to  dwell  on  any of it,  however. not now.

"we  just  have  to  get  this  done,"  rook  continues,  glancing  off  to  the  side  to  see  if  viago  shows  any  sign  of  leaving.  "then  i  can  ..." they end up trailing off, distracted by something below before they quickly meet viago's gaze and then just as quickly look away again. "i'll be fine just as soon as this is over," rook lies.
