LUNGSOD NG BATANGAS, Dis. 4 (PIA)- Tuluyan nang naipasa ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ang Batangas Health Program o mas kilalang “Ordinance Creating the Provincial Mental Health Council and Providing for the Community-Based Mental Health Program in the Province of Batangas and Appropriating Necessary Funds Therefor” sa Salvador Laurel Session Hall sa Capitolio noong ika-18 ng Nobyembre.   Inakda nina 2ndDistrict Board Member Dr. Arlina Magboo at 5thDistrict Senior Board Member Claudette Ambida ang ordinansang ito na alinsunod sa Republic Act 11036 o Philippine Mental Health Law na isinabatas noong 2018.   Layunin ng Batangas Health Program na mapaigting ang karapatan at access ng mga mamamayang Batangueno sa mental health services at ang pagpapataas ng antas ng mental health care service sa mga primary health care facilities at ospital sa lalawigan ng Batangas.   Ang Provincial Health Council ang siyang tatayong pangunahing katuwang ng pamahalaang panlalawigan upang maipaabot ang mental health care assistance sa mga mamamayan; pagpapalaganap ng mental health awareness sa publiko katuwang ang mga pampublikong paaralan;pagtataguyod ng shift change mula sa mga hospital-based system tungo sa mga pinagtibay na community-based health program at pagsusulong ng mental health ng mga mamamayan sa pamamagitan ng multi-disciplinary approach na sumasaklaw sa kalusugan, edukasyon, labor and employment at social services.   Bukod pa dito, inaasahang ang ordinansa ang magbibigay proteksyon sa mga indibidwal na may mental health disorder upang tratuhin ng patas at may paggalang pati na ang pagpapatupad ng integrated approach upang mapalakas ang basic coping mechanism na mga indibidwal na may kaugnayan sa stress at depression.   Ayon sa World Health Organization (WHO) maraming kaso na ng suicide ay mula sa mental disorder kung saan 800,000 kada taon ang nagpapakamatay dahil sa sikolohikal na rason sa buong mundo.
