So I saw a post you did about autistic reader x 5sos and I was wondering if you'd write more posts like that? If so, could you write about 'sensory issues' or sensory 'overload' relating to autism and how the boys help you deal with that?

Overwhelmed

Autism is hard. And it doesn’t come with a manual on how to navigate it either, but you were doing fairly well, because you had a lot of support. 

Okay!! This isn’t really a fic, this is more of me just throwing ideas out there. Sorry, but that’s how I interpreted this. 

Luke:

Wraps you in a squeeze hug, turns off any fluorescent lights, turns on soft fairy lights, and gets your comfort items, whether that’s a fidget toy, a stuffed animal, or anything of the sort.

Ashton: 

Prepares your comfort foods, turns on soft music or sings to you, runs through his breathing techniques with you, or asks you to hold random things and identify them for him so you take your mind off of it.

Calum:

Offers deep pressure cuddles/therapy, either laying with/on you or with a weighted blanket, and gently runs his hands through your hair, enough physical touch to relax you but not overwhelm you more. 

Michael:

Gives you his headphones, creates a quiet, safe space, rocks you, or gets a compression swing for you to swing/rock on yourself.

just wanted to come on here and say that i’m loving the diversity and inclusion in my reqs :)) i’ve gotten many neurodivergent, agere, and pride requests, and it’s amazing to see people want to see that kind of stuff. i love u!!! keep them coming!

okay so an idea just popped into my head and im emotional about it so here u go!!

How 5SOS would care for an autistic s/o or friend :)

Ashton:

- spends the first week after finding out trying to learn everything despite reassurance he doesn’t need to know it all and you’re happy to help fill in the blanks

- always carries headphones, noise canceling if he can find them

- turns your shoulders/hips as you’re walking bc he knows you have no spatial awareness and will knock into doorways and walls

- shifts half his weight onto you while sleeping bc you love deep pressure

Calum:

- keeps the freezer, fridge, and pantry absolutely packed with your comfort foods and drinks, buys them in bulk so that he never runs out

- checks every piece of clothing he owns when he packs for tour to cut off tags and make sure they’re comfortable because he knows you’ll steal some

- does everything he can to keep every setting calm as possible so that you don’t get overwhelmed

- stays patient and repeats things as many times as needed with a smile because he knows you sometimes need a second to process what he said

Michael:

- a naturally anxious person, he always carries something to fidget with and now brings extra in case you’re understimulated

- offers what he calls “squeeze hugs” when you’re right on the edge of being too overwhelmed and need a space to breathe, and just holds you

- keeps sunglasses on him at all times, and if he doesn’t have an extra pair he gives you his because he knows light can cause more distress than sound

- softly and kindly reminds you when your tone or volume is off, and doesn’t get upset because he knows you struggle to reciprocate those things accurately

Luke:

- as a songwriter, he doesn’t mind at all when you’re nonverbal. it’s easy for him to scribble down whatever he needs to say and hold it up, or he sticks to yes/no questions

- starts to learn ASL because he knows sometimes it’s easier, and spends every waking hour trying to figure it out so he can help

- happily listens to whatever rant you’re on about your special interest because he loves seeing you smile

- is sweet about every meltdown or breakdown from being overwhelmed, and has a special space in the house where it’s away from all the things that could bother you

Do you write the autistic things separately? Like is autistic reader x individual 5sos member a thing ?

yep!! it is! but i’ll write pretty much anything with them and/or autistic reader so if you have a different request just send it in!!
