“Umma, he’s staring at me again.” The child with fiery red hair clung to her mother’s leg and peeked at the new playmate she had been introduced to. His amber eyes hadn’t left her since they met, and despite having small horns herself, somehow his were scary simply because he was her size.

“Vine, say hello to Morax.”

“No.”

“Vine…”

Morax’s parent laughed. “It’s alright. It takes time. Morax, why don’t you try saying hello instead.”

Morax looked up and then stepped forward. “Hi.”

“No hi.” Vine pouted.

“Sweetie, try saying ‘hi Morax’ back.” Her mother rubbed Vine’s back and shook her head.

“Can’t…”

“Oh!” It dawned on her mother that Vine was embarrassed at her pronunciation. “Sweetie, he won’t laugh.”

“No.”

Morax looked back up at his parent in confusion.

“Try it once.”

Vine muttered unintelligibly to herself before saying, “Hi Mowax.”

Morax’s parent had to glance away to not audibly ‘aw’ at the toddler’s pronunciation.

He held out his hand wordlessly. The lack of laughter finally made Vine step out from behind her mother and take his hand. 

“Where go?”

“Pretty rock.”

The two of them wandered over to a bit of exposed cor lapis. They both crouched and poked at it, chattering in their young voices. The parents breathed a sigh of relief too soon. Moments later, Vine shrieked and started crying. On second look, the culprit was Morax, holding a strand of her red hair in his chubby hands.

“Morax, we don’t pull people’s hair, no matter how pretty it is!”

A look of pure surprise was on his face as he looked at the hair and Vine. “Oh. Sorry.”

It wasn’t enough to console Vine, who was overdue for a nap as she sobbed with big watery tears. Her mother picked her up and patted her back, rocking her back and forth.

“We can try again another day. It is quite late.”

“No!”

Morax’s parent smiled and nodded.

The first meeting didn't go as desired, but the toddlers soon learned that neither of them were going anywhere anytime soon and so formed a tentative alliance against slimes, cincins, and whopperflowers.

The thing was, the 118 was full of gossips.

Eddie had been at the station less than a week before Hen and Chim wrangled details about his “hot young thing” from him (“Buck is only 4 years younger than me, he is not a ‘hot young thing’!” Eddie complained.)

And Bobby was open about his worries for his son’s lack of direction and the secrets he appears to be keeping (“I just wish I could help Evan find the thing that gives him purpose,” Bobby lamented.)

It just made it all the more ridiculous (and horrifying) when Eddie realizes he’s been dating his Captain’s son this whole time (“Defiling his baby,” Chimney cackled, because he clearly wanted Eddie murdered.) -- Or, the AU where miscommunication abounds as Eddie seeks advice about his new relationship, Bobby despairs over his adopted son's career prospects and his refusal to talk about it, and Evan Buckley-Nash juggles training at the fire academy, building a family with his new boyfriend, and trying to work out how to tell his overprotective dad that he's already chosen the life he wants, actually.

It takes a goddamn tsunami, of all things, to get the story straight.

Watching Twin Peaks for the first time

That must be the worse television jock ever. Every other jerk jock is actually a saint in comparison.

Allright, why so many people loved Laura? Looks like there were only two kids that actually cared for here and the rest are adults.

That's my opinion eh, but Zabrinskie could have squeeze out some tears once in a while. Dry sorrow kind of looks like a pantomime. (I know I'll be stoned for this...).

Is there anyone in that town who isn't cheating on their partners?

How the heck did he find a pole that sturdy in the middle of a hotel room? Did he ask for it? Did he bring it with him? What kid of hotel is THAT?

Ok, Cooper is clearly under cocaine but he's in good company with the psychiatrist (which clearly is constantly under LSD).

I watched too many crimes to not cringe by the ineptitude of everything... be still my suspension of disbelief.

Why does it look like not even the 80s arrived in that town? Or the 70s...

There's no way that mill can sustain a town of over 51k. Also, if there actually are over 50k people in Twin Peaks I'm sure they could have find a less geriatric mayor. That sign hasn't clearly been update in a while.

Is anyone in that town able to choose a decent partner? Like, how could you not get psychopath vibes from them when they don't do anything to hide them?

Is Doc's family the only sane one?

Those must be the most polite television bikers ever.

Doc, you're a sweetheart, but what parent is so calm and understanding with a daughter that broke curfew the same day they found her BFF dead? It does explains though why your family is the only example of sane people in town (but not your daughter choice in boys).

Why the fuck are those three living together? Wife can't stand husband and SIL, SIL is having a (legit) affair with the sheriff, husband would probably live better by himself. They own the frigging mill, they can afford to live separate!

The Norwegians dodged a huge bullet and it's not because a serial killer camped there for a couple of days. That hotel owner is a creep. You don't get a daughter like that by being a decent person. She's clearly punishing you for something and I'm sure you're deserving it.

Is mill manager really expecting to gain something by helping hotel owner sabotaging the mill? Just because they have been having sex for years? Oh right, this is a Lynch tv show, can't expect clean cliches (but I'll wait for it...).

Oh yeah, more creepiness from the LSD doc.

I was expecting to see more weirdness at this point... it's only episode two and no BS yet. Just long sequences. Quite long. Be still my ADHD.

I see that both the Palmer's actors can't cry on command (didn't they have a couple of onions around?). Or was making it look like a pantomime the point? Being Lynch this might have been the point...

Mrs Palmer, you don't get to ask your husband "What is going on in this house?!" at his first show of a breakdown when you were under sedatives since a couple of hour before and can't even see another teen for more than 30 second without hallucinating of your daughter.

Ah! Dream sequence. Now this is Lynch. Did they originally film it backward?

Did they do a crossover with X-files? Because Cooper and Mulder would have a field day together. Too bad Scully's eyes would have never be the same by the double amount of rolling.

half-silvered surface, chapter one: prologue

finally sharing my fic! i’ve been working on this for the past two months and i’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. summary under the cut!

john mactavish is dead.

simon riley was in love with him, and he'd kept it to himself. after the tunnel, he feels nothing but regret; he's consumed by his mistake to leave his feelings unspoken. the others never knew, and he suffers quietly. when price makes a crucial decision for the team without his input, his anger deepens.

john is dead, but he's back home, alone in a strange sort of afterlife. it's comfortable, peaceful, and he quickly realizes he can slip his way back into simon's reality, unnoticed and silent. he visits his lieutenant from the other side as time starts to pass, and his best friend mourns his death. there's nothing he can do but watch, even as he realizes that maybe his feelings were deeper than he'd thought.

maybe one day they'll feel alright.
