I swear I was born in the wrong decade. There's just something about the 50s that makes me wish I were born in that era. Everything about the 50s just amazes me...from the music greats like Elvis (obviously), Bing Crosby and the one and only Frank Sinatra. To the classic movie, "Singin In The Rain" and not to mention the impeccable fashion! Also, cannot forget icons like Marilyn Monroe and the handsome, James Dean. 

Diners, drive-ins and jukeboxes were all the rave in the 50s. In the 1950s, people thought that the future would be full of odd angles, flying saucers, boomerangs, and things shaped like parabolas. This futuristic style, which was particularly popular for diners, motels, car washes, and bowling alleys, originated in Southern California and is called "Googie." I swear one day I'll own a diner, I'm so fascinated with them! The word Jook is an old African-American term, meaning to dance, sometimes used with sexual connotations. Whatever the origin, the jukebox was a spot for dancing, and provided music. Thankfully, drive-ins are still somewhat popular today! Keepin the 50s alive!

It’s easy to see how 1950s fashion continues to influence the designers of today. On runways recently, the style and shear elegance of the era is again being revisited and recreated in events such as the Goodwood Revival.  Retro and Vintage clothing is once again in hot demand as the generations of today rediscover the magic of this decade.

I could seriously go on for days about this era but I won't bore you any longer!
