today was one of those days where i veered off track. i feel like whenever i start eating junk i eventually fall down this rabbit hole and throw the whole day away.

for breakfast i had maple oats (160c + 26c) and some orange juice (120c)

after this things went downhill pretty quick as i repeated bought things from my school vending machine. hot cheetos (120c), rice crispy (190c), chex mix (230c), and when i got home i devoured a package of goldfish (~509c). i was SO hungry. all day. when i got home i had a smoothie (292c)

smoothie was 10/10, it was chocolate and banana and 37g protein!

1 banana

1/2 cup chocolate peanut butter premier protein shake

1 scoop gold standard double chocolate protein powder

a bunch of ice

for dinner i had chicken breast (~144c) and mac and cheese (~391c)

i think my biggest mistake was not packing enough food for myself for school, tomorrow i’ll try to bring low cal snacks to hold me over.

workout:

today was supposed to just be cardio so i walked on the treadmill with ankle weights for about 30mins, ~280c

i had -240c naturally from walking throughout the day too

total: 2,182cals, 93g protein, 18g fiber

total workout: -520

net: 1,662 ❌

luckily tomorrow is a new day and i have a chance to do better

Hi bitches, I'm wanting to set up a college savings plans for my young niece, do you guys have any advice on the best way to do that? I've seen those 509c plans, but I'm wondering if maybe setting up some kind of HSA or ladder thing wouldn't be a better idea. I definitely don't want her parents to have access to it at all.

Hey kiddo. This is very sweet and wise! When our nephew was born, we started a 529 Education Plan for him, which is a low-risk investment fund intended specifically for education. It can only be used to pay for educational programs, including college, trade schools, certification programs, gap year alternatives like Outward Bound, etc.

The benefit of those restrictions is that it can’t be used for anything else BY anyone else. So if you choose that option, the money will be safe from your niece’s parents. The downside, of course, is that if your niece has more important financial needs, she won’t be able to use the money for those needs.

Another thing you can do is start a CD ladder for your niece, which I explain in the link below. Start it yourself, make her the beneficiary, and then just sign the accounts over to her name when she reaches the age of majority for your country (18 in the US).

Keep a good relationship with your niece and make sure she knows that you are setting money aside for her. Talk to her about the money and your plans for it, so she knows to factor it into her future plans. And listen to her! She might want a different path than the one you want for her, and you should be compassionate and flexible in helping her achieve those goals.

Explanation: Blown by the wind from a massive star, this interstellar apparition has a surprisingly familiar shape. Cataloged as NGC 7635, it is also known simply as The Bubble Nebula. Although it looks delicate, the 7 light-year diameter bubble offers evidence of violent processes at work. Above and left of the Bubble's center is a hot, O-type star, several hundred thousand times more luminous and some 45 times more massive than the Sun. A fierce stellar wind and intense radiation from that star has blasted out the structure of glowing gas against denser material in a surrounding molecular cloud. The intriguing Bubble Nebula and associated cloud complex lie a mere 7,100 light-years away toward the boastful constellation Cassiopeia. This sharp, tantalizing view of the cosmic bubble is a composite of Hubble Space Telescope image data from 2016, reprocessed to present the nebula's intense narrowband emission in an approximate true color scheme.

Mumbai: Girl loses part of finger, school allegedly fails to provide medical attention

A reputed international educational institution in Mumbai has been accused by a parent of apathy and following "inhuman rules" after his daughter suffered a serious injury while at school. In a letter addressed to other parents, the father of the senior kindergarten student claims that the school did nothing except provide basic first aid after a small part of his girl's little finger was chopped off following an accident in class.

In the letter, the father says that around an hour after he dropped his daughter off at the school, he received a call from the institution informing him that his child had been hurt and asking him to pick her up. While his wife was on the way to the school, the father claims that the school called again, but did not offer anything more specific on his daughter's injury.

The letter goes on to describe the mother's shock when she reached the school and found her daughter bleeding in the school's medical room. The two teachers who were with her, reportedly handed the mother a plastic bag containing a part of the girl's little finger.

The father writes that he and his wife learnt that their child was injured after getting her finger caught in a door that was being shut by a teacher. The letter alleges that not only did the school fail to take the girl to a doctor, the institution also avoided informing the parents about the extent of their daughter's injury during the phone calls. Instead, the child was made to sit in a medical room with only basic first aid being provided.

According to the father, the school offered a "lame excuse" of not having an undertaking from him as the reason for not rushing the child to a hospital. The delay in providing medical attention and the "excessive" blood loss has damaged the nerves of the girl's hand, the father said.

The letter concludes, "I am writing this message [while] waiting outside [the] operation theater [where] doctors are fighting hard to arrest the extent of damage in her hand. I request you to pray for her and raise your voice against such inhuman rules so that in case of any unfortunate incident, our kids get timely medical attention."
