P O W D E R. T O. P A I N T From powder to paint. This process is one of my favourites! Making blue copper acetate takes quite a bit of time but it’s totally worth it! I submerge copper scraps in vinegar with salt and leave it for 4-6weeks, occasionally topping up the vinegar to encourage more copper acetate particles to form on the copper scraps. Once it’s dry I carefully scrap it from the copper and crush it in a pestle and mortar to make the powder I can turn into paint! This is the type of paint I’ve used for Blue Sky Thinking. (Swipe to see photos of it in Wild and Wonderful exhibition) It never fails to surprise me. So many different reactions and shades of blues / greens can emerge. Who needs conventional paint from a tube huh? S I L V E R. L E A F I just had to embellish this painting with a bit of silver leaf. I couldn’t help myself. I had a little trip to @l.cornelissen_and_son not long ago and the staff were so helpful…it did mean I probably ended up buying too much stuff though. The silver leaf being one of them. It’s trickier to use on wood than paper but I think it finishes this painting off nicely.
