Announcement - ‘Star Wars: Inheritance’
Hey there!
Due to the extremely disappointment sequel trilogy I have decided that I’m starting a project called ‘Star Wars: Inheritance’ which is me attempting to answer the question “What if Disney and Lucasfilms actually cared about the fans instead of just milking them for money?” Help is required, artists, fans, beta readers, beta writers, alpha writers (co-authors), illustrators, website managers etc. Scroll down for more. You can leave ‘permanent’ roles whenever you want.
PLOT IDEA:-
The story will be primarily posted on Archive Of Our Own, and will be divided into ‘seasons’, like a web series like The Clone Wars (only written instead of animated). The series will pick up 5 years after Return Of The Jedi, featuring characters from the Original Trilogy (eg: Han, Luke, Leia) and Sequel Trilogy (Ben Solo, Rey, Poe Dameron, Finn etc.) but with context. Cameos by Rebels, The Clone Wars, the Prequel trilogy and  the novels will also be made.
The ending will be a happy one with the force being balanced, open threads from all of canon closed, a fitting fairytale ending after a lot of suffering, adventure, angst and character growth. Each character will have its arc although the protagonists remain the same. The story will end sometime around  TFA/TROS. Several time jumps will be made.
NOTE:-
This is a story to be written by fans. A personal attempt to heal and a bold statement to poor filmmakers who have destroyed a fairytale started 43 years ago. But, most importantly, this is a story for all of the people who work on it as well as read it to enjoy. It provides us closure that canon couldn’t.
ROLES:-
1. Plot Pitchers:
Requirements: Extensive knowledge of canon and/or Legends (EU). Preferable access to novels.
This role is an attempt to make it as canon as possible. More canon than canon. Mention of sources (Wookiepedia links) would be helpful, but not necessary.
Even if you aren’t very proficient with the above but you feel like you have good ideas, DM me. You will be credited. If you simply have a good idea but don’t want to be involved in the long run, just message it to me.
2. Artists/ Illustrators:
Requirements: to be a digital artist/illustator
Concept art has been selected, digital artists required.
The kind of work includes drawing certain scenes from the story, as well as the headers/ covers for it. You can choose what you want to.
This is not a permanent commitment, unless you want it to be. THERE IS NO MONEY INVOLVED (because the initiator is a broke minor).
If you want to be involved for the long run, dm me.
3. Video Editors/ manip creators:
Requirements: Video editing software, Video editing skills
Things like the opening scrawl of each season, small 10-30 sec (more if you can manage) videos of the characters (in later seasons) etc.  Please DM me if you are interested.
4. Beta Reader:
Requirements: basic grammatical skills
Each chapter will be needed to be read and suggestions can be made.
5. Social Media Account managers:
Requirements: Tumblr, Instagram or twitter. (other social media are welcome but not compulsory)
You need to create a new account on the web platforms. These accounts will share/rt/rb/post everything about this project. The Account name is to be ‘Star Wars: Inheritance’. dm if interested.
6. Website creator/manager:
Requirements: knowledge on creating a website. Managing it.
Starwarsinheritance.com? Starwarsinheritance.net?
For more details, please dm me.
7. Co writer(s):
Requirements: Writing skills. Experience with Ao3. Team spirit.
At max, two more people are needed. The work load can get too much for one author to produce quality chapters every week. The contents need to be agreed by all the authors. We’ll try our best to include all points.
Please apply for this role if you are REALLY serious about this. DM me.
8. Beta Writer:
Requirements: Writing skills. Experience with Ao3. Team spirit.
You can add your own two cents to it but it will need to be approved by the main writers before being published.
NOTES #2:-
If you DM me I will provide you with the relevant information, and a link to the discord server where we will discuss this in detail.
If you are in for permanent roles, please be committed to this. This fic needs 20 min to 3 hours or more of your time every week depending on your role, and it could possibly go on for a year or more. If at some point you need to quit, issue a notice so we can find someone else.
As of now, there is no money involved in any way. This could change, but right now all you get is personal gratification, comments, kudos and hits.
This is not an overnight project, it will need at least a month’s work before publishing, after our team has assembled.
The first responders will get the role, as this needed to start 200+ days ago (after TROS).
Lastly, I realise that this is a very demanding project for which you could possibly never get paid. This is an attempt to rekindle a dying fandom which was fanned too fast and hard by corporate gold-diggers a.k.a Disney/lf.
This was a glorious fandom before it was divided and ruined. save your story, save your fandom. Please spread the message.

Field Trip(Dennis Severs)
This was requested by the amazing @primaba11erina, I hope you like it babe it was really fun for me to write and I hope I done it justice and its what you had imagined it would turn out like :) Please excuse any mistakes I edited it but may have missed some :) really sorry it took me so long :)
Summary:
Y/N was a first grade teacher who had arranged for her class to go on a field trip to the local fire station where her boyfriend works( none of the kids know Y/N and Dennis are together) so the firemen could teach the kids about fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire, seeing her boyfriend interact with all the kids made her heart flutter, she knew she always wanted kids someday and after seeing Dennis today she made the decision that she was ready and decided she would tell Dennis when he got home this evening in a rather exciting way ;)
*BEEP BEEP BEEP* the sound of Y/N's alarm going off woke her, groaning as she rolled over  to find her phone on the nightstand to silence the alarm. Thank god today was the last day of the school term, no more 6am starts, she could have a lie on and enjoy the summer with her wonderful boyfriend Dennis she though to herself as she made her way to the bathroom to get ready for the day, after showering and getting dressed she made her way downstairs where she was met with the smell of bacon and coffee and the sight of her boyfriend sitting at the table shirtless sipping of his coffee and scrolling through his phone.
"Morning babe" he said smiling as he noticed you walk into the kitchen, "good morning Den" you replied as you walked over to him kissing him as he pulled you into his lap inhaling the scent of your coconut shampoo on your freshly washed hair, "mmm you smell delicious babe, I bet you taste even better" he mumbled against you as he trailed kissed down your neck sucking gently at your sweet spot just below your ear. "Den not now I've to get to work" you said hesitantly as you tried to pull away, unsuccessful in your attempts as he tightened his grip on you. "Babe its only 6:25, you don't have to leave until 7:45, we've got plenty of time" he said as he sunk he teeth into the skin of your collarbone, sighing you finally gave in as you melted into his topless torso, his hands sliding beneath the waistband of your leggings fingers gentle brushing over the thin material of your panties..."Shit babe its 7:15, I've only 30 minutes to have breakfast and get to the school" you say as your pulling on your panties and leggings looking around for where you bra and top landed after Dennis tore them off you. "Relax babe your class is going on their field trip today to the station aren't they? you'll have plenty of time you can afford to be a few mins late" he says as hes zipping up his trousers. " you go finish getting ready and I'll get your breakfast and coffee ready, yeah?" he says placing a reassuring kiss to your lips, "thank you babe" you hurry off to the bathroom to fix your hair and brush your teeth.
You arrived back in the kitchen to see Dennis has your coffee and breakfast ready on the table as promised. "Den babe where are you ?" you called out as you sat down to have breakfast, looking at your phone the time read 7:25am, phew I still have 20 minutes left, "In the bedroom babe, be down in a few" he calls from the bedroom. Ten minutes later I had finished my breakfast and was putting my cup and plate in the sink when I felt a pair of arms snake around my waist and Dennis softly kissing my neck, I leaned into his touch and kiss sighing contently wishing that I didn't have to leave for work. "I wish you didn't have to leave babe" he says as if he just read my mind, "Me too babe but today is the last day and I'm all yours" you purr in his ear making him groan, you and Dennis spend the next 10 minutes in a very deep handsy make out against the kitchen counter, you reluctantly break away to check the time and notice its time for you to leave. Dennis hesitantly lets you go after try to pursued you to call in sick you kiss him goodbye and leave for work.
****15 minutes later*****
When you arrive at the school the principal calls you into the office, "Y/N can I talk to you for a minute please?" "Of course whats up?" worrying that your going to get into trouble for being 5 minutes late trying to think of an excuse. "I'm sorry to have to ask you this as I know you were busy today packing up your classroom while your class was going on a field trip to the fire station but Ms.Madden has called in sick and wont be able to assist Sarah on the trip so could you please go with Sarah?" "Oh em yeah sure, of course" you stuttered out a bit surprised. "Great thank you so much they leave in 45 minutes, meeting outside at the fire assembly point" she says "I'll be ready" I say as I walk out of the office towards my classroom debating on whether to text Dennis to inform him that I will be going but decided against and to surprise him, I have 45 minutes to try pack up as much of my room as possible so I get to work boxing things up.
****45 minutes later****
Once all the kids were loaded onto the bus, permission slips were checked and a head count done we were on our way to the fire station, it was only 30 minutes to the fire station, along the way the kids played games and sang songs to pass the time, once we arrived at the station we gathered the kids up and gave them all name tags and done another headcount to make sure we had everyone. Kev one of the main firemen greeted us and showed us to one of the main halls to wait for the rest of the firemen, they were on their way back from a call for a house fire, 10 minutes later Dennis and 2 other firemen that you didn't recognize walked into the the hall laughing and joking, when suddenly Dennis stopped abruptly in his tracks and his eyes going wide as he saw you standing there clearly surprised as he wasn't expecting to see you. "What are you doing here he said" still trying to recover from the shock of seeing you and not draw attention to you's, "Ms.Madden called in sick so I had to cover for her" you say smirking quickly as you walked off leaving him standing there.
"Right so boys and girls today were going to be learning about fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire" Kev says to get the attention of the kids, all the kids immediately stop talking and listen to Kevin explain all about the do's and don'ts of of what to do and what not to do in the event of a fire. All the kids sat there mouths open in awe of what Kevin had to say, 20 minutes later Kevin asked  had any of the kids got any questions before they done the tour of the fire station, a few of the kids asked some really good questions you were impressed by them. "Now if yous would like to form an orderly line and follow me we will begin the tour" Kev said, all the kids scrambled to get in line quickly and they were on their way, as you were walking out you felt yourself being pulled into a room just off to the side, and a pair of lips come in contact with yours in a hungry kiss and a pair of hands grabbing my ass, "Dennis we cant, not here someone will find us" you moan out as he continues his assault on your mouth, hips lips moving down your neck sucking and nipping just below your ear, loosing all the will to fight against him your hands trail up his back and into his hair tugging at it now it's his turn to moan against your neck, he grinds his hips against you and you can feel a very prominent boner in his pants, one of your hands leaves his hair to palm over it earning another moan from him, "Oh god Y/N the things you do to me, you think I would have gotten enough of you this morning after pounding into you on the kitchen table" you cant take it anymore and drop to your knees in front of him, undoing his zipper and taking him into your mouth without any warning, "Shit babe don't stop please j-just like that" he moans out as he bucks his hips causing you to gag on his dick, with that he grabs your hair holing you in place as he cumming down your throat, just then the door swings open and Kevin stops dead when he sees whats going on in front of him, "I guess i'll just say that yous 2 went off to get the kids fire men hats and certificates" smirking as he turns and walks out heading back towards the kids and Sarah. You look up at Dennis finally swallowing his load as he tucks himself back into his pants and helps you up capturing your lips in a sweet kiss tasting himself on your lips. "That was so fucking hot babe, as much as I'd love to return the favor we better get back" you bite your lip and nod.
You's make your way back to the group carrying a stack of plastic firemen hats and the kids certs from the trip to the station handing each kid a hat and putting their certs in to one side to hand out at the end of the trip. "Who wants to go down the pole?" Dennis says "Me" all the kids shout at once and yous all burst out laughing, "okay hope on" he says as he lifts up one of the kids and showing them how to hold on, "Ready" he says once the kid is in position and making sure Kev is at the end to catch them as they go down "Yeah" he lets her go and she squeals in delight as she slides down the pole. You watch Dennis interact with the kids over the next hour, playing, laughing , joking and showing them all the tools in the fire truck, one of the girls tugs on Dennis trousers and he bends down, "Yes sweetheart how can I help you?" he says smiling "could I please try on your fireman coat?" she asks "of course you can" he says as he takes it off the hook and drapes it over her shoulders folding the sleeves up as its to big on her and zips it up, he picks he up and turns to you with her in his arms, "How's she look" he says smiling at you and his smile is such a happy content beaming smile, you breath hitches in your throat and tears well in your eyes as you look at the love of your life holding the little girl in his arms and you cant help but think of what an amazing dad Dennis would make one day. "You look absolutely beautiful sweetheart" you say half taking to the little girl and half taking to Dennis.
You and Dennis have always talked about having kids one day and seeing him with all the kids today makes you realize that you don't want to wait anymore, you love Den and he loves you so what are yous waiting for, it was in that moment that you decided you were going to tell Dennis that you were ready to start a family with him, the thought made you get butterflies and you couldn't wait to get home and get everything ready, 15 minutes later it was time to start loading the kids back on the coach but not before a group photo for the kids to remember, they stood in 2 line holding their certs up and their fireman hats on Sarah and Kevin stood at one end and me and Dennis stood at the other end both Kevin and Dennis fully clothed in their uniforms, I could feel myself getting hornier as Dennis stood there his arm around my waist. "Say cheese"Kev shouted as the picture was taken, "Now kids time to go can you all please say thank you Kevin and Dennis for taking time out of their busy day to have us and for such an amazing fun filled and educational day" I say as start to gather the kids "Thank you Dennis Thank you Kevin" all the kids say, "You's are all very welcome" they say. "Sarah can get all the kids loaded onto the bus I'll be with you in a few just want to thank the guys and make sure nobody left anything behind" I say as I walk towards Dennis, "Of course"Sarah replies. "Are you okay babe? you looked quite upset earlier on you had tears in your eyes? was it because Kev caught us?" he asked concerned, "No no quite the opposite actually, but before I could explain Kev interrupted us walking over standing there smirking  "What you smirking at?" I asked knowing too well what it was, "So Y/N what was that I caught you's two up to earlier?" amusement laced through his voice, "Well Kevin what did it look like to you?" I replied with just as much amusement "It looked like you were sucking Dennis here off in the supply closet" he said with another smirk "A+ for you Kev, you listened in sex ed" I say with a smirk as I kiss Dennis goodbye. I walk towards the bus, I stopped "Oh Dennis" I say as I turned me head "Yeah babe?" he says "Wear the uniform home tonight" I say with a wink and continue making my way to the bus trying to hide the blush that makes it way over my face hearing all the lads hooting and hollering, "Dennis is getting some tonight" I hear Kev say as I step onto the bus.
We arrive back at the school 45 minutes later and all the kids parents are waiting to collect them, I am bombarded with thank you gifts from my students and parents which is so sweet I thank them and the parents and make my way to the car, I put all the gifts in the boot, wave goodbye to my colleagues wish them a lovely summer and I'm finally on my way home to get ready for my fun filled evening with Den, I stop by Victoria's Secret to pick up some lingerie I settle on a red lacy corset and matching panties and and some red stockings, these will surely get a reaction out of Den I think as I pay for them and make my way home to start dinner.
****1 hour later****
Once the spaghetti bolognese was ready I left it in the oven to keep warm I decided against garlic bread, I set the table and went to have a quick shower to freshen up and slipped into my newly purchased lingerie especially for this occasion, I slipped on my black silk robe and made my way back down to the kitchen, I went to the fridge and decided between which bottle of wine to open I had gotten 3 as thank you gifts off my students(the perks of being a teacher, free wine :P), I settled on the Rose wine  just as I poured myself a glass I heard keys in the door and I knew Dennis was home the butterflies returned and I prepared myself for the news I was planning on telling him and hoping that he wanted it too, "Babe I'm ho-" he cut himself off as he saw me standing there in a black silk robe with the lingerie peeking out he stood there biting his lip as his eyes raked over my body, "Oh well hello to you to babe, like what you see because I sure do" I said as I eyed him standing there in his uniform the wetness pooling between my legs all I wanted to do was pounce on him but I had a carefully organised plan, so I refrained myself. I cleared my throat and spoke up "Ready for dinner babe?" still standing there he hadn't said a word just stared hungrily, he snapped out of it "Sorry babe, yeah I am I just wasn't expecting to see you dressed in that and to be honest id much rather go straight to dessert" he bit his lip again and waled towards me and kissed me hungrily squeezing my ass, "Hmm babe as much as I would love that too lets eat first" I said as I broke away from him and got the spaghetti out of the oven and dished up some for the two of us. I took a deep breath as I prepared to tell Dennis about my decision. "So babe you know how we've talked about wanting kids some day?" I say and Dennis nods, "Well today when I seen you with the kids it made me realize about how amazing you would be as a father and when you put your jacket on the girl from my class and picked her up and I seen the smile on your face it just made my heart swell you looked so happy, and content and well that's why I teared up because I was picturing that being you with our son or daughter some day and well I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want that day to be sooner rather than later, Dennis I'm ready to have kids if you are?" I said as I look up I see Dennis with tears streaming down his cheeks, before I could apologize for upsetting him he was up and across the room grabbing my face in his hands and kissing me, "Your not upset?" I said "Of course not babe I've wanted kids with you for months now but I was just to scared to say anything as I didn't want to push you into it Y/N I would love nothing more than to start trying for a baby with you" he said as he kissed me with so much love now I was crying, we broke apart laughing as we were both a weeping mess. "Well what are we waiting for, lets gets baby making" he said wiggling his eyebrows picking me up bridal style and making our way to the bedroom.
He put me down at the foot of the bed, undid my robe and stood there mouth open when it fell to the floor to reveal all my lingerie to him, he groaned as he brought our lips together in a passionate loving kiss, his hands roaming over my body caressing me lovingly, I slid my hands up his jacket and pulled the zip down and pushed it down his shoulders, wrapping my arms around his neck his lips trailed down my neck, his hands working skillfully on undoing the corset, he slips it from my body effortlessly and I slip his suspenders down his shoulders and work on unbuttoning his trousers and tug them down and he steps outs of them, he makes quick work of my panties and next is his top and boxers I'm just left standing in my stocking, I go to remove them but he stops me, "Leave them on" he says biting his lip as he hungrily looks me up and down. He picks me up laying me on the bed hovering over me kissing from my lips down my body taking his time so much love and passion in every kiss until he's facing my dripping core. His tongue makes contact with my clit and I hiss out in pleasure, he teases my opening with two fingers gently easing them in and curling them slightly hitting the spot inside me perfectly while continuing his assault on my clit his fingers pump in and out as a steady, my orgasm is fast approaching, I can feel it in the pit of my stomach the tightness getting more intense as the seconds go by. "Shit babe I'm so close" I manage to pant out "Cum for me babe, I want you to to cum for me" he says and with that my vision goes white, my back arches off the bed and I cum harder than I've ever came before clenching around his fingers, his fingers still pumping in and out of me helping me through my orgasm. As I come down from my high I grab him by the face pilling him up to bring our lips together in a slow lust filled kiss, I moan as I can taste myself on his lips, our tongues move in sync, he lines himself up with my core and slowly pushes himself in staring deeply into my eyes and lacing our finger together, he waits for a minute so I can adjust to him. "Shit babe your so tight" he moans out as he slowly starts to move our eye contact not breaking once he speeds up a bit setting a steady yet pleasurable pace, the sound of soft moans and grunts fill the room as we make slow passionate love, beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead and chest and I know he's close, he shifts slightly and hits the spot within me and I'm cumming again, "shit babe I'm coming, come with me" I moan out and that's all it takes for  him his hips begin to loose rhythm and he comes with a grunt staring deeply, lovingly into my eyes my eyes flutter closed and I bite my lip as I feel him fill me up, I open my eyes to see him still staring at me and there's no much loves in his eyes, his eyes fill with tears as he bends down capturing my lips with his, "I love you so much Y/N, that was amazing" he says as a tear rolls down his cheek, I wipe it away with my thumb, "I love you too so much Den". He slips from me and goes to the bathroom and comes back with a cloth and cleans me up tosses it to the dirty hamper and climbs in beside me and pulls me into his chest whispering sweet nothings in my ear kissing my shoulder softly, we fall asleep cuddled up in each other arms after making the most sweet passionate love and hopefully a baby.
****8 weeks later****
I check my phone to discover I'm late, 10 days late, I rush to the drug store to buy a pregnancy test, I hurry home to take them, I finish peeing on the tests and wash my hands, "Babe I'm home"  I hear Dennis call from downstairs "I'm in the toilet" I call back as I dry my hands, looking down at the tests there's 2 pink lines on both them I gasp as I realize I'm pregnant, one hand goes to rub over my stomach as one picks up the tests, I walk into the bedroom from our en-suite, to see Dennis sitting our bed, he looks as me and notices the look of shock/ excitement on my face, "Babe whats wrong? what you got there" he says noticing I'm holding something.
"Babe I'm pregnant" I exclaimed in pure joy and happiness as tears streamed down my face, "What are you serious"he says as he jumps up running over to me looking at the tests in my hand "Yes, Den your going to be  a dad" I say he breaks down in tears too overjoyed at the news he picks me up and spins me around kissing me deeply, he puts me back down and looks into my eyes. "Marry Me Y/N" he says, "Yes  of course I will Dennis" I say, he kisses me and in that moment I couldn't be any happier, a baby on the way and engaged to the love of my life.

Trouble Shooting/Frequently Ask Questions Mobius1/General:
Q. What is the difference between the Mobius, Mobius2 and the MobiusMini cameras?
USB interface 7. AV-IN interface 8. Reset button OK Button 1. Stop / start recording on video recording mode 2. Take picture on photo mode 3. Start playing the video on reviewing mode 4. Confirm button in other mode Mode Button 1.
A. Other than the obvious visual differences and size, the cameras do have different functionality. This can best be seen by looking at this compare document using msetup screens; Click Here
Q. What are my benefits from ordering from this website?
A. Aside from being able to purchase some of the exclusive mounts and accessories, like the Bar Mount, or the Magnet Mount, or the Weather Cover (all of which are included in the Pro16G Package) we also offer the Mobius shielded case option as a separate item or as an option in some of the packages. You also get access to our full customer service and support via Chat, Email or Phone. (note, this support is only available to our customers) You get a business that is dedicated to any an all things Mobius!
Q. Having a problem with Windows 10 seeing my Mobius or running msetup.
A. Do you have an SD card inserted into your tablet? If yes, then removing it may resolve the problem. This information is from another user who had problems with his Dell tablet. After removing the SD card mSetup would run normally. The non-responding hourglass appears as if a system call, maybe to a 3rd party driver, is never returning. (comment supplied by Isoprop RCGroups)
Q. Will the Mobius lens/sensor assemblies work with the Mobius2?
A. No, flat flex cable connectors are different
Q. How do I focus the lens on the Mobius camera?
A. Focusing the lens:
This can be most easily done by putting the camera in webcam mode.
Open the camera by removing the (2) small screws from the back of the camera.
Using the small hex wrench supplied, loosen the small set screw on the lens assembly. (note: handle lens assembly very carefully being careful not to pull on flex cable connection and handling the PCB by the edges)
Remove the memory card, plug in USB cable to computer, then turn camera on and view in webcam utility, i.e. AMCap
Turn lens until desired focus is achieved, it shouldn’t require much adjustment (again, being careful to not screw in too far as damage may occur to sensor glass) then tighten set screw and reassemble camera.
Q. I’m having troubles playing my videos with my current media player?
A. We have found one of the most robust media players to use is MPC-HC (Media Player Classic Home Cinema), which is a free download (HERE) With all the different/new video codecs, etc not all media players are up to the current technology.
Q. How can I configure my Mobius on a Mac?
A. The ideal method of configuring your Mobius is by using the MobiusManager.App software. Note that there are different versions depending on which firmware version your camera has. It can also be done via a text file as outlined in the user manual.
Q. Can I charge the Mobius camera while recording?
A. Yes, if charging with a USB “data” port, you must turn the camera on and start recording first, then connect to USB port; otherwise just connect to USB power source.
Q. Can I use my cell phone charger to charge my Mobius camera?
A. If you phone wall charger has a detachable cable with a standard USB connector on it then you should be ok using it. It should provide 1000mah min.
Q. Can I acquire images from Mobius camera into a computer?
A. Yes, very easy, camera operates like a thumb drive; drag drop and double click.
Q. Can the Mobius be connected to a laptop after it is mounted in the car in order to see a live feed to verify it is mounted properly?
A. Yes, the easiest way to do this is to put the camera into webcam mode, which is easiest done by removing the memory card.
Q. How can I configure my Mobius on a PC?
A. The ideal method of configuring your Mobius is by using the msetup.exe software. It can also be done via a text file as outlined in the user manual.
Q. Where can I find instructions for the Mobius?
A. Instructions can be found inside of the msetup.exe configuration tool, or on the Download/Info page.
Q. Is it possible to control the Mobius camera via USB?
A. That can achieved that by configuring the camera to start when it sees external power, and power is supplied thru the USB cable. It can also stop when external power is removed or continue even if external power is removed.
Q. When filming, the sound is ok, but there’s no image (all black), and when taking pictures it’s also black except the time and date stamp.
A. Check the camera configuration using msetup, on the last tab (Advance Image Settings) make sure all the slider bars are in the middle position, not to the extreme.
Q. Are there any special drivers for using the Mobius on Windows 10?
A. No special drivers are required, you may want to make sure you are using the most recent version of msetup, this comment from one user; I have W10 on a desktop and tablet with NO issues with mSetup. There have been reported problems with some users using laptops that have a memory card in the laptop reader, but this has been unverified…
Q. What software can I use to use the Mobius as a webcam?
A. AMCap is a nice piece of software and is a free download.
Q. What software can I use to capture video in webcam mode while connected to my PC?
A. AMCap is a nice piece of software and is a free download.
Q. Is there a new Wide Angle “C” lens?
A. The original “C” lens has been replaced by the new “C2″ lens assembly (more info here)
Q. What are the widest FOV of the A, B & C lenses?
A. Standard “A” Lens in 1080P wide = 85 deg./Wide Angle “B” Lens in 1080P wide = 116 deg./Wide Angle “C”/”C2” Lens in 1080P wide = 132 deg.
Q. What is the focus distance of the Standard “A” lens?
A. If using the camera in near field, then the Standard “A” lens would be recommended and focus distance is 10-12 inches (254-305mm)
Q. What are the differences between different memory cards?
A. The following link has some helpful info about Micro SD cards and their differences. Here also. Here also.
Q. How do I remove the SD card from the Mobius?
A. Using a finger nail, push the card in, you will hear it click, then release and it will pop out. Inserting is the same, when you hear a click, it is inserted.
Q. What is the video file format the Mobius generates?
A. The Mobius can be configured to create .MOV/.MP4/.AVI/.WAV (audio only) files.
Q. I want to synchronize multiple Mobius cameras for 3D, how can I do this?
A. Set all cameras to start on external power; (Power-On Auto Record) the cameras don’t need to be continually externally powered, this can be done by setting “Power-Off Disconnect” to disabled. This would allow the cameras to begin to record when seeing external power, then once started external power can be removed and they should continue to record.
Q. When using my camera as a Dashcam, the last few minutes of video are not recorded. For example, when I take a 7-minute drive, a video file in .MOV format includes the video for the first five minutes of the drive, but there is no file including the video for the last two minutes of the drive. In another example, when I take a 14 minute drive, there are two files, each for 5 minutes, for a total of 10 minutes, but there is no video for the last 4 minutes.
A. This can happen when using the Super Capacitor. The setting for “Power-Off Disconnect” must be set for “Immediate”
Q. Mobius camera is not recognized as a removable drive.
A. Do you have the video-out cable connected? If so, The camera will never be recognized as a removable drive when the video-out cable is connected. Use the standard supplied USB cable.
Q. How do I know if I have the new Wide Angle “C” lens vs the “B” lens?
A. A detailed description can be found here.
Q. Can I save a specific video clip while recording in loop mode so that it won’t be over written?
A. The current clip can be Write Protected by briefly pressing (max. 1 second) the Mode button while the camera is recording. This will set the file’s read-only attribute which will prevent the current recording from being deleted.
Note that formatting the card will delete all the files, including the protected files with the read-attribute set. ►Depending on the length of the current recording, the previous or the following clip may also be automatically locked.
If the current recording file is less than 1 minute, both the previous file and the current file will be locked.
If the current recording file will be closed in less than 1 minute, both the current file and the following file will be locked.
If the current file has been recording for over 1 minute but will only be closed after at least another 1 minute of recording, only the current file will be locked.
Q. When taking still images, they are tagged with full metadata. When setting image mode to use timed shots (any interval), they are saved with minimal metadata. Is there a way of having full meta data supplied?
A. The metadata (as well as the date/time stamp) must be omitted for timed photos (i.e. “time lapse” mode) whenever the delay between photos is set for less than 2 seconds. This is necessary in order for the photo processing to have enough time to capture and compress the image, and write the image file to the memory card before it’s time to capture the next image. The extra time needed to also capture the date stamp and all the metadata takes to long when the delay between images is set below 2 seconds. FW cannot fix this since it’s a hardware problem. The only solution (which is probably not an acceptable one to your customer) is to set the delay to 2 sec. or higher.
Hint: If you boot Isoprop’s mSetup.exe GUI, open the Photo Tab, and hover the mouse over the Time Lapse Photo function name, you will see this limitation mentioned there (assuming you have not toggled off the Tool Tip feature of the GUI).
Q. How can I tell how much charge my camera has?
A. When turning the Mobius on, the Red LED in the rear of the camera above the memory card slot will flash rapidly from 1-3 times indicating the amount of charge; (1) being the least.
Q. How can I use my Windows 7 laptop to align the camera once I mount it?
A. You could put it in webcam mode. Easiest by removing the memory card, may need to download and install AMCap software.
Q. Where can I find the instruction manual for the Mobius?
A. The manual can be found inside of the msetup & MobiusManager configuration tool thru the HELP button. The link to downloading the manual can also be found on the Downloads/Info page.
Q. After installing and using the Mobius Android App the camera is no longer detected as a new USB device with my computer?
A. Not sure why this is happening , but the camera can still be accessed by it’s drive designation i.e. (H:) thru File Manager/Windows Explorer. For those that don’t know how to access; Right click on Windows Start Button, lower Left Corner, select “Open Windows Explorer” you should see the camera as a drive letter in the Left column. Click on it to view contents of camera.
Q. mSetup will not start on some Windows 8.1 tablets if the tab has a micro SD card installed
A. Apparently a weird bug, See comment 12 at http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/threads/one-program-will-not-load-which-runs-on-my-win-8-1-laptop-dell-venue-8-pro.60392/
With the sd card removed from tablet, the Mobius program then started with no problems. (thanks to Pete for sharing his find!)
Q. Why has my clock/calendar reset?
A. The only thing that can cause the time to re-set is removal of power from the camera; or possibly an intermittent power issue, or possibly if the battery got so low… This should not happen under normal circumstances.
Q. Setup software won’t run on my Windows 8?
A. mSetup will not run on Windows 8.0/8.1 RT (ARM processor). It should run on all true versions of Windows from XP to Windows 8.1
Q. When camera is set to take time lapse photos and then are transmitted via USB output thru a FPV transmitter, the pictures are Pink or Green or may be split etc.
A. Set Time Lapse Photo setting to (1) picture every 2 seconds or higher.
Q. I was updating my firmware and the update failed and now the camera just has a steady Blue light and the computer can’t communicate with it, what do I need to do?
A. Either, put the memory card into a card reader and delete the *******.bin file, then place the card back into the camera, or insert another memory card. Once able to communicate with the camera you can then try the firmware update again. (insure that the battery is fully charged and that no buttons are pressed prematurely during the update process).
Q. Does the memory card need to be inserted into the camera to connect to the computer and use the msetup configuration tool?
A. Yes, with the memory card the camera is seen just like a thumb drive, without the card the camera will be seen as a webcam.
Q. I can format the card and update the firmware but the camera refuses to record video. The rear LED is solid red instead of blinking. The yellow LED may also flash once when you press the shutter button.
A. Most likely you are using an SD card which is not compatible with the camera. Some batches of cards don’t work properly. A typical example is Sandisk 32GB Ultra (class 10) which did not work on earlier firmware versions. If you are having problems with your card use firmware v1.17 or above or try a different card or try formatting the card.
Q. I can’t take videos or photos and the camera is also not recognized by my PC as a removable drive.
A. It’s likely that the SD card is full or the file allocation table (FAT) has become corrupt. Format your card using an external card reader or try another card.
Q. The camera is not recognized as a removable disk or as a Webcam.
A1. The operating system must be XP or greater. The camera must be connected using a standard USB cable. Confirm that the cable is not defective by attaching another USB device using the same cable. Do not use a USB hub. Try using another USB port. Defective cables are the most common problems when the camera is not correctly recognized by the PC. You might also try unplugging other USB devices, then plug the camera. In some cases this seems to “wake up” the USB drivers and things start working again, then you can plug other USB devices back in.
A2. Actual customer process (Mike) used to get his computer USB ports to see the Mobius: I unplugged everything I had plugged into my USB ports except for my mouse (printer, keyboard, mem card reader). I uninstalled every drive except the one the mouse was using. Next I booted up from off with the camera attached. All my devices reinstalled and asked me to reboot. I rebooted, clicked on MSETUP.EXE and it worked.
A3. Actual customer input; Tried all the mentioned fixes, re-formatting, cables etc. Works on laptop but not desktop Dell Precision T3500 with two front USB ports. Tried the other port and it works!. Switched back to the previous port and it does not work. Maybe this will help other befuddled users.
(There are so many things that it could be with a computer, firewall, antivirus, devices, drivers, etc. this is one example.)
Q. An SD card is installed, but the camera is not recognized as a removable disk or by mSetup.
A. If you are sure your USB cable is not defective, then it’s possible that the PC USB drivers are not working properly. Try connecting the camera before turning on the PC. After the PC is turned on, the camera should be recognized as a removable disk. DriveCleanup.exe (freeware) may also be able to fix USB corruption problems. You may also want to try a different USB port on the computer or try the camera on a different computer. This will help to determine if it is a camera or computer issues.
Q. When the camera is connected as an external disk all the files on the SD card appear as corrupt.
A. There is a problem with your cable or the PC USB drivers are corrupt. DriveCleanup.exe (freeware) may be able to fix USB corruption problems.
Q. When the camera is connected to the PC and then turned on I can take pictures and movies but the camera is not recognized as a removable disk.
A. The USB cable is defective.
Q. When I turn the camera on the blue LED turns on and then off and is followed by a short yellow flash which is immediately followed by 15* red or yellow flashes and then 32* very fast red or yellow flashes. The camera then turns off.
*The flashes are either red or yellow, depending on what firmware version is running. There are 3 red flashes at the end of the sequence which may be visible or not visible.
A. There is no SD card inserted or the card is full or not formatted correctly or the card contacts are dirty. Format the card or use another card.
Q. The yellow LED flashes once per second 4 times and then flashes very quickly before turning off.
A. There is no micro SD card inserted, the card is not properly inserted, the card is full or the card is defective. The card must be inserted with the gold contacts facing upwards, towards the buttons. There should be a distinct spring action when inserting the last 5 mm and there should be no friction whatsoever.
When the card is pushed 1 mm inside the body the card should latch with a distinctive click.
Never force the card, and never push the card more than max. 1 mm into the camera body.
Q. When the camera is turned on, the blue LED turns on for a second and then the yellow LED turns on as normal. However, the Mode and Shutter buttons don’t react and I can’t take any video or pictures. The camera is also not recognized by my PC as a removable drive.
A. The lens module ribbon cable is not connected properly or the lens module is damaged.
Q. The camera does not react. The green LED may be on or off.
A. The firmware may have entered a continuous loop, or the battery may be discharged.
Make sure the battery is fully charged.
Use a paper clip or similar object to press the Reset button. This should force the camera to be turned off.
Wait 10 seconds.
Turn on the camera.
As a last resort, disconnect the battery and reconnect again after waiting 30 seconds.
Q. The camera functions normally but only records very short (5 sec.) clips and may turn off.
A. This can be caused by the following:
The battery may not be charged. Charge the battery for about 2.5 hours until the green LED turns off. (Use caution when charging from a laptop, when they go into hibernate mode they shut down ports/power and turning off LED’s, giving the user the false sense that the Mobius is charged, when reall it may have only receive 5 minutes of charge)
The battery is too cold to provide the power needed to record video. Keep the battery warm before using the camera in cold temperatures (around freezing and below).
Check the integrity of your card by using the program h2testw to make sure your card is genuine and not a fake card that has been up-rated.
The card used is not compatible with the camera. Use class 4 cards. Kingston cards are recommended.
Problematic 64GB cards (or larger) may work better if formatted with FAT32.
Q. Playback is erratic or stutters or the playback colors are psychedelic or the video flashes, has corrupted blocks etc.
A. Always first copy the video file from the memory card to your hard drive.
Your PC or graphics card may not be powerful enough to playback the video stream.
You may not have enough memory installed in your PC.
Use VLC Media Player. Window Media Player often chokes on underpowered machines.
Psychedelic colors may also indicate problems with the CMOS lens module. Make sure the CMOS lens cable is correctly seated and not cracked. The lens cable is very fragile.
Q. There is a distinctive buzzing or clicking noise when videos are played back.
A. Only use quality micro SD cards with a class rating of 4 or above. Low quality cards can draw excessive current which may result in electrical noise in the recording.
Q. When I update the firmware the blue LED remains on for about 2 seconds and then the yellow LED remains on. The firmware is not updated, but the firmware file is deleted from the card.
A. Firmware must be updated using an SD card formatted in FAT32. Larger cards with a capacity of 64GB and above are formatted with exFAT. New cards with a capacity up to 32GB are formatted with the FAT32.
Q. How can I clean my Weather Cover?
A. The Weather Cover can be wiped down using a Cotton Ball and Rubbing Alcohol or soap and water.
Q. There is no sound on playback.
A. Always first copy the video file from the memory card to your hard drive. This sometimes happens in certain media players depending on versions, codecs, etc. Best, most robust media player is VLC and is freeware.
Q. Having problems getting the Mobius to connect with a Mac, along with other Mac related issues.
A. Refer to the Mac related documents and helpful information found here.
Q. What is the screw type and size used in the Pro Mounts?
A. It is a #2 tri-lobe thread forming screw and requires a #1 phillips heads screw driver for proper fit.
Q. How many minutes or hours of video will my memory card hold?
A. For 1080P video, there is approx. 132,209KB of memory per minute of video (1GB=1,000,000/132,209KB=number of minutes) A. For 720P, 30fps video, there is approx. 63,537KB of memory per minute of video (1GB=1,000,000/63,537KB=number of minutes) A. For 720P, 60fps video, there is approx. 132.000KB of memory per minute of video (1GB=1,000,000/132,000KB=number of minutes)
or
Reset Button Game
Example, 16GB gets about 2:20min of 1080P video, 720 60fps is about the same, 720 30fps is about double (4:30 min). From that you can figure how much different size cards will hold.
Q. How many high resolution photos will my memory card hold (time lapse photos)
A. A 2304 x 1536 picture =889Kb, (1GB=1,000,000/889=1124 photos) (16GB=1126 x 16=17984 photos) (32GB=35968 photos)

Q. What size Hex wrench is used for the lens focus lock down set screw?
A. 0.9mm (.035in)
Q. What is the easiest method to focus the camera?
A. Check to see if you can turn the outer portion of the lens with the lens cap removed (wide Angle lens, for std lens the case will need to be opened). If you can rotate it then you will be able to focus it.
This is most easily done by putting the camera in webcam mode. The easiest method is to remove the memory card, then connect to your PC. Check in your devices to see if your computer lists a USB camera, if not you may need to download the AMCap software, which should then allow you to see your camera as a webcam (i.e. live video) at this point you can now adjust the focus on your camera while looking at your monitor. Point the camera at an object, (I like to select something with text) and adjust until you see the sharpest/crisp image. Your camera is now focused.
Q. How can I rotate a video and save it?
A. This is easily done using VLC media player. This is one of the best medial players in our opinion and the most robust. Steps to Rotate and Saving a video can be found here.
Q. Is the only form of payment PayPal?
A. PayPal processes all of our payments, but you can use any credit card if you choose or your Paypal account. Billing address must be in the same country as your delivery postal address. (Note: you are only paying with your PayPal account if you enter your PayPal password)

Reset Button Html
Q. When the camera is turned on, the blue LED turns on for a second and then the yellow LED turns on as normal. However, the Mode and Shutter buttons don’t react and I can’t take any video or pictures. The camera is also not recognized by my PC as a removable drive.
Reset Button On Life
Vlc 8825 Reset Button Slot Machines

132.000KB of memory per minute of video (1GB=1,000,000/132,000KB=number of minutes)
or
Example, 16GB gets about 2:20min of 1080P video, 720 60fps is about the same, 720 30fps is about double (4:30 min).

Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman Gamble $1.8 Billion on Quibi
Tumblr media
LOS ANGELES — They had to cancel the premiere party. But Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman have stuck with the April 6 start date of Quibi, the short-form video app for smartphones that they hope will attract millions of subscribers. The two veteran executives have led some of the nation’s top companies for decades. But they have spent the last two years in start-up mode, prodding investors to kick in nearly $1.8 billion and courting producers and stars like Jennifer Lopez, LeBron James, Chance the Rapper, Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Steven Spielberg and Chrissy Teigen. Now Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman are ready to unveil their ambitious venture right in the middle of a pandemic.“This is either going to be a massive home run or a massive swing and miss,” said Michael Goodman, a media analyst at Strategy Analytics.Quibi, a portmanteau of “quick bites,” will offer movies, reality shows and news programs made for the smartphone, with no installment clocking in at more than 10 minutes. The offerings fall into three main categories: movies that will be released in chapters; documentaries and unscripted reality shows; and quick-hit news and sports reports from NBC, BBC, ESPN and others. Fifty shows will be available Monday. Before the spread of the coronavirus, whenever Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman made their Quibi pitch, they described it as an on-the-go diversion for anyone standing in line at Starbucks or riding the subway. The pandemic changed the context. With potential customers largely confined to their homes, it will now go up against established platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video that can be watched on any screen, including the living room TV. Quibi works only on the phone.Ms. Whitman said she wasn’t concerned about the crisis’s effect on the start-up’s chances. “Think about how often you use your phone when you’re homebound,” she said. “People who are home with their children would really like a 10-minute break.”There is also the question of how much people are willing to spend on streaming at a time when nearly 10 million are out of work. Entertainment options have also expanded while Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman were building their app with 267 employees in an open-floor office in Hollywood. The Walt Disney Company and Apple joined the streaming party in November, with Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus, and TikTok, filled with short homemade videos, had a spectacular rise, hypnotizing the young viewers Quibi hopes to attract.Under those circumstances, Quibi (rhymes with “libby”) announced last month that it would be free for its first three months. After that, the cost will be $5 a month with ads and $8 without. Shortly after the announcement of the introductory offer, the company canceled its premiere party, which was expected to draw 150 celebrities among its 1,500 guests, because of the pandemic. But delay the launch? No way.“Given the quality and quantity and convenience of Quibi, we think it comes at a time when people are looking for relief, looking for distraction and looking to escape,” Mr. Katzenberg said. “Those are all the things we are trying to deliver to them.”Mr. Katzenberg, 69, and Ms. Whitman, 63, have dived headlong into a challenging third act, creating a product geared to people half their age at a time when millennials and Gen Z-ers have taken to needling their elders (see “OK Boomer”).The head of Walt Disney Studios at the time of the original version of “The Lion King,” Mr. Katzenberg has often gone against the grain. Passed over for the No. 2 job at Disney in 1994, he built a rival conglomerate, DreamWorks SKG, with Mr. Spielberg and David Geffen. He also waged a legal battle against his former employer, saying he had deserved more compensation. The bitter, headline-generating fight concluded with Disney handing him a settlement estimated at $250 million.DreamWorks faded, but DreamWorks Animation, the spinoff run by Mr. Katzenberg, survived until 2016, when Comcast’s NBCUniversal bought it for $3.8 billion. As part of the deal, Mr. Katzenberg received a $420 million payout — and reluctantly stepped aside. In the back of his mind was a failed initiative similar to Quibi: Pop.com, a side venture he had started in 1999 with Mr. Spielberg, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard as a venue for video shorts. It went bust before it even launched.Quibi’s other leader, one of the country’s most powerful female executives, rose through the ranks of American business at Disney, DreamWorks and Hasbro before she took eBay from a shop with a staff of 30 to a global powerhouse with 15,000 workers and $8 billion in annual revenue. When she left, in 2008, she was a billionaire. She went on to spend more than $100 million of her fortune to run as a Republican for governor of California, only to lose the 2010 election to Jerry Brown. A return to business put her in charge of Hewlett-Packard, which she left in 2017. “I’ve been working straight for 35 years,” she said upon her departure. “I’m going to enjoy some downtime.”But she soon joined Mr. Katzenberg at what was then called New TV, after he had raised $1 billion from Hollywood studios, the Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba and other investors. “She doesn’t like this, but I keep saying we’re two old dogs who have a new trick,” Mr. Katzenberg said at the time.Ms. Whitman left her home in Northern California for a West Hollywood high-rise. Now she can see Mr. Katzenberg’s house in Beverly Hills from her bedroom window.Start-ups rarely run smoothly, and several prominent executives have left Quibi over the last year, including Janice Min, the former co-president of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group; Diane Nelson, a former Warner Bros. executive; and Tim Connolly, a former Hulu executive. Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman are known as exacting managers who keep an eye on the tiniest detail. The company has also had trouble getting the word out. Although Quibi spent millions on commercials that ran during the Super Bowl and the Oscars, 68 percent of participants in a Morning Consult/Hollywood Reporter poll last month said they were not familiar with the brand.“Part of the reason awareness is so low is they are building a new name,” said Ross Benes, a video analyst at eMarketer. “Quibi takes time to explain. It’s not super clear that this will cost you $5 a month and you’ll get a lot of short videos.”Stay-at-home mandates have complicated the rollout, with meetings held via video conference. “Even though Zoom is great, I can’t really read the body language in the room,” Ms. Whitman said. “And that has always been an important part of how I gauge who is doing what to whom and how things are working.”Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman had an easy time making deals partly because of the terms they offer: The company pays for production costs and licensing rights, allowing anyone the creators of Quibi programs to retain copyright, meaning they can sell their work to another platform or network after a set number of years.Nicole Clemens, the president of Paramount Television, received an offer from Quibi for “When the Streetlights Go On,” a script about the aftermath of the murder of a suburban teenager that had once been shot as a Hulu pilot. “It was an incoming call,” Ms. Clemens said, “which is always nice to get.” The Quibi version will be part of the Monday launch.Writers who sign on have to follow a rule of Mr. Katzenberg’s: They must end each installment with a cliffhanger. Nick Santora, the writer of “Most Dangerous Game,” an action film starring Liam Hemsworth and Christoph Waltz, described hitting those marks as “hard but exhilarating.” To pull it off, he refashioned his 48-page pilot script, initially written for NBC, into a 150-page screenplay with a climax every 10 pages.“When you’re writing a regular script, and you need a scene to tell a certain arc in your story, and it takes 12, 13 pages, it’s no big deal,” he said. “You can’t do that in Quibi. Once you get to page 10, you’re done.”Quibi intends to set itself apart from YouTube, the leader in short-form digital video, because of its reliance on an old-fashioned Hollywood hallmark: production values. Quibi films cost up to $100,00 per minute. And Mr. Katzenberg’s long experience has taught him how to handle the talent, even as his reputation as a relentless boss holds firm.“You don’t always hear from the biggest exec at the company,” said Ryan Case, the director of “Flipped,” a comedy starring Will Forte and Kaitlin Olson. “But he called me, the writers and the cast members on a Saturday at our homes to say he was excited. It was both wonderful and classy.”Unlike Disney Plus, which gained subscribers on the strength of its “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian,” Quibi hopes to lure viewers with its overall lineup. “I think we have fantastic shows,” Ms. Whitman said, “but I also think it’s the sum total of what we are offering, as opposed to one ‘Mandalorian.’”The companies making a line of Quibi programming called Daily Essentials have faced the toughest challenge. Madeleine Haeringer, an NBC News executive producer, spent months assembling a 50-person team able to produce twice-daily 5- to 7-minute shows. Her job got trickier when employees were forced to work from home. A week before the start date, she delivered test episodes remotely, with anchors on iPads.“It’s incredibly daunting,” Ms. Haeringer said.Quibi’s unscripted shows bring to mind to cable fare and syndicated programs. Ms. Teigen’s “Chrissy’s Court” is the app’s answer to “Judge Judy,” and Ms. Lopez produces a show that follows celebrities as they give $100,000 to someone who meant a lot to them. Will Quibi be the next digital thing or a flop? That is the $1.8 billion question.“On the plus side, Quibi is like nothing else,” said Mr. Goodman, the media analyst. “On the other hand, while we know that there is a tremendous amount of video being consumed on phones, we also know that people don’t want to pay for video on their phones.”Mr. Katzenberg and Ms. Whitman say they will beat the odds. Noting Quibi’s debut slate of movies in chapters, Mr. Katzenberg said, “All five of those I think are great. Not good. Great.”Ms. Whitman sounded more circumspect. “This is very different from a movie launch,” she said. “We are building a new consumer product.” Read the full article

Last week I modified a trailer to go get some logs, this week I’ll be slabbing them up. As milling is an entire world of it’s own in the woodworking niche, I learned a crazy amount in just a few days and I’m going to try and cram as much of that information into this video as possible, so lets gets right to it.
There are two main methods for milling logs: a bandsaw mill like Matt Cremona’s…
…or a chainsaw mill. I’m going with a chainsaw mill…..for now. Tractor Supply is now a supplier of Husqvarna equipment and I’ve partnered with them to use the Rancher 460 chainsaw with a 24” bar on my mill. Note that the chainsaw you buy has specs on the longest bar it can support. So if you want to cut certain diameter logs, be sure to buy a saw that can support it.
I’m actually going to jump ahead because there are a lot of components to this one so let me show you the final outcome before I get into the details of each one.
The components are: the chainsaw of course. Next is the mill which is a railing system parallel to the chainsaw bar that guides you for a straight cut.
On your very first cut, you need a flat reference for the mill to ride along, which is what these rails here are.
Then something I put on mine but is optional is a winch. This is mounted to the mill then hooks up to this bar you see here.
Now that you see what I end up with, let get back to the beginning of putting it together. I started off with the rails that will go ontop of my logs to give my mill a flat reference for the first cut. You might have seen people use a ladder for this application before, but I went with rails made by the same company who made the mill I’ll be using which is a family owned business called Granberg. They are called EZ Rails and do come in a variety of different lengths but I went the 10’ rails which come in two 5’ sections that can be used separately or together. They have these cross bars with spikes and this is how the rails are attached to the log.
Next I switched out the stock chain on my chainsaw, which is a crosscut chain, to a ripping chain. Just like any other saw blades, the teeth are designed with a certain task in mind and if you are going to go from crosscutting to slabbing, you need to invest in a ripping chain. The teeth are filed to a steeper angle on ripping chains since it’s a much more aggressive cut since you are cutting along so many more growth rings lengthwise.
After getting the chain on and tighten down, I moved on to assembling the mill that goes around the chainsaw. This is the railing system that is parallel to the blade, and it can be raised or lower to determine the thickness of your slab. Since I have a 24” bar I went with the 24” mill from Granberg.
And just a fun fact, Elof Granberg, who started the company, designed the first Alaskan chainsaw mill back in the 60s. So anything milling related, the company has.
You can see that the chainsaw now fits right into the mill then tightens down on the bar to hold onto it.
Like I mentioned earlier, an add on I opted in for is a winch on the mill. This will drastically reduce the amount of work I manually have to do to get the saw through the piece of wood and I’ll show you how this works in a few mins.
First I want to set all that equipment aside and quickly build a log stand so I don’t have to cut these logs on the ground. Since I’ve never done this before I wasn’t sure what set up would be best, so I went with some 2x6s with a steep angle cut in at both ends on my miter saw, then a hole drilled in the center. I flipped them around to be opposite of one another then stuck in a bolt with a few washers and nuts. I used two nuts so that I could keep this joint pivoting which will make the stand foldable.
After repeating to make three the same, I lined them out, used a clamp to hold them in an open position with the feet flat on the floor, then placed another 2×6 to tie them together, and to also create a hard stop. A 2×6 was placed on both sides and now you can see it can fold up and be stored or transported, but then quickly deployed to be used. Depending on your length of logs, should determine how many of these Xs you include on your stand.
Ok! After all that assembly I was finally ready to get a log set on my stand and to start milling. Cody used the tractor to snatch onto a log on the trailer then set it in position. Now the log doesn’t have to be perfectly flat but the next step is easiest if it is somewhat flat, so I first started up my 460 and took off a high spot.
With this being the first cut, I started by placing my EZ Rails in place. Again, these will be the flat reference for my mill to get a straight first cut. I lined up the cross members so that the spikes, or dogs, would all land on the log then I hammered them in.
With it attached I next leveled up the rails. You don’t need them to be level along the length of the log, just across the log, I don’t know if you can see but there are two leveling screws at each one of these cross members to make this happen.
Then the last thing to attach is the winch’s anchor point. If used, this is attached to the end of the log so that it can peak up in between the two rails. And you can see here that once you start the saw and get the mill set on the rails, the winch cable goes from the reel to this anchor point then attaches back to the mill. This allows me to keep my left hand on the throttle of the saw, and my right hand on the winch to advance or back off on the cut.
A few things I want to say:
1) Beware folks because this is highly addictive. I want to slab up everything now to where if you stand still long enough in my shop, I’ll start attaching the rails to you!
2) This operation can be done alone but it’s kinda a lot and is sooo much easier if you have a second hand around. You’ll see Brain there cutting wedges for me and placing them as I get further into the log. This is to keep the slab from pitching your bar and binding.
3) I tried moving the mill along without the winch just to see the difference and I’ll say that the winch makes such a huge difference in how much effort is required. I 100% recommend it if you get into this.
After getting through my first cut (which took 6.5 mins btw), I set the top aside then started on the second cut. Now that the log has a flat reference along the top I no longer need the EZ Rails, I can just set the mill directly onto of my previous cut and start the process over again. The only thing I had to do before making this cut was to adjust the depth of my mill to the slab thickness I wanted. I set it for 2” then got after it.
I am really shocked at how quickly I was able to get through an entire cut, this second cut took me just under 5 mins to make. The main components for making that happen is much like any other cutting tool in the shop…..the right power source and a sharp edge. This Husquvarna had no issues chopping through this oak, mesquite, or even pecan which are all pretty hard woods. This work does use up the bar oil though, so make sure you are keeping an eye on your tank.
Now I won’t lie, I was pretty disappointed at this oak when I got a look inside. I was hoping this thing would be beautiful but the log was apparently pretty old and very dried out so the inside was really cracked and honestly not something I was interested in keeping. Looking back on it though, I think testing and tuning, getting things figured out on a junk log is a pretty good way to go. Like anything else you learn so much on your first go and I still had a blast.
I didn’t have any more long logs but my neighbor offered me a short pecan and mesquite log so I jumped at those to try next. You can see that instead of cutting the tops of my log stand down, I just shored up the bottom with some scraps. This is because I’m not yet sure what the average diameter of log I’ll be getting is, and I didn’t want to cut them too short but note that it is an alternative to filling up the bottom.
Something else I did when the log got smaller was use the log jaws in my Super Jaws. These are a set of jaws with blunted teeth specifically designed for grabbing onto logs. Oh and a helpful tip I got from Instagram is instead of placing the log level lengthwise, place it downhill so that gravity can help you when you are milling through.
As far as keeping things sharp, I sharpened my chain after every third pass which might be excessive but I’ll learn with time where the sweet spot is on sharpening. In the past I’ve always used a file to sharpen the teeth but Grandberg has this 12v electric sharpener that attaches right to the bar. It hooks up to a truck or car battery so I used the battery from the log snatching trailer to run it. Even if you don’t get into milling this sharpener is worth getting.
The last thing I had to slab up with this crotch piece of pecan, after making the first cut I stuck it in my super jaws to make the remaining cuts and just look at how cool this one came out!
The next step is to set the slabs aside to dry and a general rule is it takes one year for every inch of thickness. So a 2” slab should be left to dry for two years. For video sake, lets say it’s been two years and these are now dry and ready to be used to make something.
I’ll first need to flatten the slab. Since it’s much wider than a jointer the most popular method for flattening slabs is called a router sled. You can make a home made jig but my friends over at Woodpeckers Tools heard I was slabbing and asked me to try out their new slab flattener coming out later this year. If you are familiar with Woodpeckers then you’ll know they excel at precision which is exactly what a flattener needs to get the best results. Everything needs to be level and stay level to give you a perfect cut across your entire slab so you don’t have a lot, or any post clean up work to do. The jig has two long rails that I temporarily attached to my workbench, then it also has a sled that sits onto these rails. Inside this sled is where a router base is set so that it can slide up and down the length.
After taking my time to get everything set up, I positioned my slab and set the depth of my router bit to start removing material to flatten the slab. I’m using my Triton 2 1/4” Router since I have my larger 3 1/4” in my table. Then for a bit I’m using a 2” flattening bit and also a bit extender made by Infinity. If you don’t have this extender and you just have the bit in your router, it’s really common for the bit to run out of throw and not get down far enough to hit your slab.
With things set up you can see how it works. The router base moves along the sled then the sled moves along the rails. Allowing you to gradually move over the slab in order to flatten it. That is a wicked cool tool if you ask me.
If you have never flattened a slab before then here are a few things I learned from my experience.
When working with a piece that has a slight twist in it, you first need to shim it up and keep it stable to flatten it. I would find the two corners that were rocking then stick in a few wedges.
Next I set the bit according to the highest spot on the slab so that it starts off with removing the high spots. This means you aren’t removing material everywhere on the slab on the first pass. The objective is keep removing all of the high spots pass by pass until you are finally removing material from the entire slab, meaning it’s all on the same level and is flat.
I set the bit to take off about 1/8” material. Also remember that with a larger diameter bit, you will want to slow the speed of your router down. I have my router set to 2 out of 5. I start on one side of the slab, move the router across then bring it back. Once I bring it back I move the entire sled down the slab to advance the cut. And that’s it, it’s just a matter of repeating until I make it across the entire slab.
Once I get the slab down to where I’m removing material from everywhere evenly, I change the bit depth for a final smoothing pass. And this is to just to cut down on some of the marks left behind from the rough cuts, but honestly if you keep your bit sharp you’ll be amazed at how perfect the surface feels.
I hope you found this informative. I cant believe the mount of information I learned in just a week! And of course, now I cant wait until I have my own inventory of wood that I’ve milled up myself.  Stay tuned for my next video which will be turning live edge slabs into furniture.

So I made this cake...
Someone asked me to make them a cake for their mom’s bday that also happens to be her sister’s bday (they’re twins). We went to lunch to discuss ideas.
I asked a million questions to try and figure out what they like and what we could do that’d be fun as a twin thing. He didn’t give me much to go on. He did say they liked wine though. So I thought, wine + cake? I’m not a big fan of wine but I pitched it to him anyway - he was all for it. We talked a bit and decided a white and red wine cake, one for each of them. After some research I decided on a white wine cake with strawberry filling and white wine frosting for his mom who likes making a white strawberry cake, and a red wine and chocolate cake with cherry filling and dark chocolate frosting because it just sounds divine. Next step = samples.
I’d never made wine cake before so I wanted to make samples to ensure they would taste good. Easily found some recipes for the cakes. I’d never done anything with cherries, so that was new and surprisingly tasty. I brought in small cakes for him to try and waited for his thoughts. Thankfully, he’s honest. He loved pretty much everything about them except that they were dry... hmm... either from being refrigerated, or just a bad recipe. We discussed presentation and decided simple and elegant, two 6 inch cakes. He mentioned maybe doing something intertwined but dropped it. We’d both been busy and overwhelmed and were bummed this wouldn’t be a collaborative decorating effort. I thought about it for the next day or so and got an idea... next = actual cake.
I couldn’t prep the cake ahead of time for fear of dry cakes. Not to mention, he didn’t bring me the one he wanted me to use until the day of - no worries. Thankfully the fillings could be made beforehand. I did some research day of while on a break at work and found some recipe, put together a list to go shopping for after work, to then rush home and get to work. I went hung out with a friend the night before and had too much to drink so I was very tired and low energy. Also woke up way too early the day before that for work, so I was REALLY tired. Fuck it. Had a monster at work. Added red bull to the shopping list...
Finally, time to get to it. Leave work, go to the store, get my shit, come home. Get into my pjs and my good shoes so I don’t fuck up my back, grab a quick snack and then get to work.
First things first, I pulled out my ingredients and organized them. In my research I read that not having room temp eggs or milk can cause separation - that happened with the first white wine cake I made, I wasn’t going to let that happen again. I started with the red wine cake. He said it was a bit dry so I found a different recipe that had oil and sour cream - meaning guaranteed to be moist and dense like he asked for. I followed the order of the steps of the recipe and started by prepping pans. Cut out the parchment paper (enough for both cakes so I wouldn’t have to do it again later. Crisco and flour on three pans. Then to the batter. Get it all ready. Thin batter so easy to poor and divide. Tempted to put all three in at once but the recipe said to use the same shelf. That means baking it in two batches at 30 min each. Fuck. Ok.
Those are the only pans I have so I wait for the first two to be done, stick the last one in. Wait 15 min and take out the cakes onto cooling racks. They look great! I wash the pans and prep them once more. I make the white wine cake batter.
I couldn’t find a recipe that didn’t use a box mix. No way I’m doing that. So I make my yellow cake batter and use wine instead of milk. I follow the recipe to the letter, even beating in between each egg addition, instead of all at once like I normally do. I don't want that separation. This batter is butter based and is much thicker. I divide into the two pans and use an angled spatula to spread evenly- my boss calls. I continue to even out while I talk to him even thought I should stop because I’m tired and don’t want to mess up. But I do it and it works. In the oven.
At this point, the first two cakes are cool. I use my leveler to slice the tops off. I cut one in half using a ruler for precision. I stack the two and trim them to match. I use one half to cut the second cake in half after leveling as well. I have my layers for the red wine cake. I realize I can’t use typical cake boards, I have to cut my own. I trace one of the layers on a cake board and cut out the proper size cake board. Once again, cutting two at once so I don’t have to do this again later. I remember a trick I saw on youtube where they used a cake board on top of the cake to run the bench scraper against to ensure smooth sides. So I cut out cake boards a bit bigger than the ones I just made for the bottoms.
Okay, white cake is out of the oven and cooling. I can start assembly of the red cake, I just need to make the frosting. Find the recipe - shit. I need to melt and cool chocolate. I had forgotten about that. More waiting. I pull out the dark chocolate I bought. They didn’t have 70% so I just got 100% - it didn’t seem like a good idea. I look at the recipe again and not e that I didn’t get enough chocolate. Okay. That’s okay. I can add semisweet chocolate chips and even out some of the bitterness from the 100%. I put it in a pan and melt it over low heat. Poor it into a glass bowl to encourage quick cooling. Look back at the recipe to realize I forgot to combine the chocolate with the butter. Great. Ok, chocolate back in the pan, add the practically melted butter, melt real quick, back in the glass bowl to cool. Why does it look so runny? Look back at the recipe - I’m dumb. I was looking at the other frosting recipe and used way too much butter. I’m out of chocolate now too....Okay. B! Please run and get me some chocolate. 60% and enough this time. Cool. If I can’t work on this, then I’ll have to work on the white wine frosting. Cool.
Let’s do this . Recipe says slow, steady stream when adding the wine into a slow mixer. I do just that. Mixer was too slow, wine added too fast. and it all starts to separate. An ugly mess of separated butter. Fuck. Okay, in a bowl, in the fridge just in case I need to use it. Remake the frosting. Measure precisely the amount of wine, speed the mixer up just a touch, and poor in extra slow. Boom. Let’s assemble this thing.
I pull out my turn table and pre cut cake boards. Put some frosting on the board, find my sturdiest layer of white wine cake and lay it down, making sure it’s straight on the board. I push down on it to ensure it sticks to the frosting and is flat. I put some frosting in a piping bag with a tip and draw a flat, thick border. I get my strawberry filling and mix it in a bowl to recombine everything then I pour some onto the cake, making sure it’s to the edges, but not so high that it’ll squeeze out with the next layer. Done. Next layer. I push down a bit to make sure it’s flat and straight on there, using the flat side on top. I repeat all these steps with the next 3 layers, making sure everything is nice and flat along the way - no slanted tops this time!
Once I’m done I realize that in smashing down the cake they came out slanted on the side - I straighten that out, looking from all angles to make sure it’s as straight as possible so that it can join the other cake. Then the crumb coat. Then the freezer - timer for 10min. I take this time to melt the butter and chocolate for the other frosting. I pour into a flat serving dish this time to ensure it cools quickly. The texture is gorgeous.
Next frosting layer. I throw some on there, throw the second and bigger board on top and use my bench scraper to smooth out the edges. I repeat many times, adding more frosting and trying to make sure there are no holes and that the sides are straight down and not sinking in towards the top or bottom... it turns out okay. Back in the freezer for 10 min.
Now the top. The hardest part! I use a knife to remove the top board. I add more frosting and try to smooth it out. What I haven’t figured out is how to smooth the top without leaving any lines and then how to deal with the edges...I do my best, again just okay. I look at the whole thing. There are still some lines and it’s not perfectly smooth. I can see some cake on the sides through the frosting. I let it be for now. All this time I had been putting the cake in the freezer with the turn table... now to take it off. I use a big spatula and put it on to a cooling rack. I ruin the bottom, but it’s okay, I plan to put a bottom border on the finished cake.
Onto the red wine cake. I start with the frosting. It’s a cream cheese base so I mix the melted chocolate mixture with the softened cream cheese... the cream cheese has been sitting out for the entire process... it’s WAY too soft. I mix it up and add the powdered sugar and all but it’s too soft for decorating. So I shove it in the freezer. At this point I’m exhausted. I’ve been baking for 5 hours. And I’m hungry. So break time. I consider going to the store to get even more chocolate in case the frosting doesn’t firm up... instead I decide to go with a different frosting should that happen. I know that cream cheese frosting is hard to decorate with because it melts, so a different frosting would probably be best. I grab B and we grab a quick bite. As I’m getting in the car, I feel my back spasm and pain shooting across my lower back. Fucking great. This is going to be so much harder now. As soon as we get back, I pop open my red bull, I take an alive, some cbd oil, and I sit on the couch to eat. I planned to make the break short but I needed to rest my back until the meds kicked in. I’ve baked with a bad back before, I just have to be careful in my movements and take things slow.
45min later, I start on the second cake. Following the same steps as above. All is going the same until I put the second layer on... I realize that the red cakes are much thicker than the white... but they have to be the same height in the end so that I can connect them... so I smash down even more! Gently, though. I don’t want the edges to flare out. I compare to the white cake after every layer to see how much taller it is. After all the layers are assembled, it’s still slightly taller than the white but I can’t squish down anymore... I’ll figure it out later!
I start on the crumb coat. This frosting is amazing. It spreads on incredibly smooth. Is it the cream cheese or the chocolate? Maybe I’ll add cream cheese to all my frostings... This is going to be easy. I choose to forego the top board this time to see if the smoothness of the frosting is enough. I crumb coat and freeze for 10 min.
I spread on more frosting and use my bench scraper to smooth the edges. All the video sI’ve seen they are very specific in how they hold the bench scraper to ensure the frosting is not removed completely, I haven’t been able to do that. My white cake removed enough frosting to see the cake through it.. hm... okay lets think about this a bit more. I line the bench scraper with the edge of the cake and make sure it’s straight. I scrape while turning the table. Wow! That worked. I do it again, this time just turning the table in one full motion - even better! I fill in the holes with more frosting and scrape again. It looks great. Freeze for 10 min before moving on to the top.
At this point the white cake is warm and the frosting is crazy soft. When I pull out the red, I put the white back in the freezer. I start on the top. It’s a bit easier with this frosting but still running into the problem with the edges... I do my best. Okay. Now to combine the two. I pull out a bigger cake board and line up the red cake. I pull out the white cake and lay it next to the red. It’s not nearly as pretty. I decide to rework it. I throw on more frosting and smooth out with the new technique I’ve learned. It looks much better. The top flares in a bit so I need to add more frosting and make sure it’s all smooth. I work on the top, still not the best, but it’ll do. Back in the freezer.
I pull it out and lay it next to the red. They’re not perfectly straight, so they don’t line up easily. Fuck it. I push them together from the sides, ruining all of the frosting. It kind of works. I put it back in the freezer.
At this point I make the chocolate syrup. Very easy recipe. But I want to make sure it will be cool enough to pour fairly soon. While that’s cooling, I pull out the cake and fill piping bags with both frostings. I use one to fill one of the side cracks and the other to fill the other. I scrape to smooth out. It looks pretty great. As I mentioned before, the white is not a tall as the red. So I add more frosting on top and smooth it out until it looks the same height. This going to work!
I poor the chocolate syrup into a piping bag with a rounded tip. I’ve never done a chocolate drizzle before and I don’t want it to look terrible. I grab a mason jar and flip it upside down and practice pouring it. I see the viscosity of the syrup and take a mental note. Okay, lets do it. I start with the side. I drizzle around the red side only. I pour extra down the cracks there the two cakes meet to cover them up. Looks good! Now the top. I draw the line across the middle. it didn’t come out all the straight.. what if I use a ruler? I try that, it doesn’t help and now I have a deep line in my cake. What a dumb move! And so close to the end...
It’s okay, I fill in the line with the white and smooth it out again. I poor more drizzle to straighten the line. I smooth it all out best as I can and I throw it in the freezer to set the drizzle. I look at my frosting, not sure that I will have eough to pipe with. I put them both in the fridge for now as they’re starting to melt down. I clean while I wait.
I prep my piping bags and realize I only have one of the tip that I want to use... okay. I’ll have to pipe one at a time. I pull out my cake and think I should practice the swirl before going straight to the cake, so I do. It takes a couple of times to et it right, now I’m ready. I look at the cake and envision where the swirls should go. I decide to do 5 swirls on each half. I go for it with the white. Easy enough. I wash the tip and start the chocolate. Practice again before swirling. I pipe 5 swirls again but the frosting is still pretty runny so I immediately stick it in the freezer. At this point I remember I wanted to put a bottom border on it. But which border? I want it to look elegant and simple...I pull out the tip I like and a mason jar to practice on with the white frosting - the chocolate back in the fridge to set up some more. Also need to see if I’ll have enough. I have plenty of chocolate frosting so I’ll use that one all around if I don’t have enough. I decide on doing mini swirls to sort of match the top. They look very cute and elegant with the white frosting and it looks like I’ll have enough!
So I pull out the cake and do the border with the white. It looks good. Once again, I only have one tip. So I wash it and prep the chocolate. It’s still pretty soft, but I need to do it, so I do. The swirls are not as defined but they still look nice. I finish up and take a look. it looks pretty good! I stick it in the freezer one last time to set up the bottom border.
I finish cleaning and pull out my cake. it’s a pretty good representation of what I was envisioning - how cool! That never happens! It is not as polished as I had hoped, but it still looks pretty fucking good. I take a bunch of pics to have different angles and lighting. then I box it up and put it in the fridge.
10 hours later, I’m finally off to bed.

2018 Fantasy Football Mock, RDs 9-10: Multiple upside rookies highlight selections
Tumblr media
Nick Chubb is one of several rookies the Yahoo Fantasy “experts” had their eyes on in Rounds 9-10. (AP)
It may be early, but with the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, it’s time for some fantasy football drafting. We recently held a 10-team, 0.5 PPR mock to get things started. The 2018 fantasy football season is officially underway.
SEE ROUNDS 1-2 HERE SEE ROUNDS 3-4 HERE SEE ROUNDS 5-6 HERE SEE ROUNDS 7-8 HERE
ROUND 9
Pick 81: Corey Davis, Ten, WR36 – Davis didn’t get the reps he needed early in the season, but down the strech he often dazzled. Fully healthy and with an entire offeseaon under his belt, the fifth overall pick in the 2017 draft has massive breakout appeal. (Liz Loza 2)
Pick 82: Kirk Cousins, Min, QB7 – A top-five producer in back-to-back seasons, Cousins will receive a massive upgrade in both weapons and protection. Thrilled to snag him here. (Loza 1)
Pick 83: Emmanuel Sanders, Den, WR37 – He averaged 138 targets, 1,190 yards and seven touchdowns over his first three seasons in Denver before last year’s down campaign, but expect a bounce back with the Broncos’ improved quarterback play in 2018. (Dalton Del Don 2)
Pick 84: Nelson Agholor, Phi, WR38 – He scored eight touchdowns last year and should finally eclipse 100 targets for the first time in his career. I’ve now drafted Agholor, Alshon Jeffery and Jay Ajayi, as I’m happy to collect pieces of this Philly offense. (Del Don 1)
Pick 85: D.J. Moore, Car, WR39 – For me, Moore was the top rookie receiver in this year’s draft class. He landed in a spot where targets should be guaranteed. (Andy Behrens 2)
[Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues are open: Sign up now for free]
Pick 86: Rex Burkhead, NE, RB33 – Yes, Rex is a committee back. But this is a pretty awesome committee. New England’s offense is a buffet of fantasy points and Burkhead should see 10-14 touches per game. . (Behrens 1)
Pick 87: Kerryon Johnson, Det, RB34 – Another year. Another crowded backfield in the Motor City. However, if there’s one exotic sports car bound to come off the assembly line, it’s the rookie from Auburn. He’ll likely surrender power-back work to LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick will steal some receptions, but he’s a legit three-down slasher who excelled in pass pro and receiving with the Tigers. Initially, he should register 10-12 touches per game with room to grow, provided Ameer Abdullah is kicked to the curb. (Brad Evans 2)
Pick 88: Delanie Walker, Ten, TE8 – He’s quietly averaged a 22.6 target share the past two years converting those opportunities into 65 and 74-catch campaigns. Also a favorite red-zone weapon of Marcus Mariota, Walker possesses a higher floor than most believe. (Evans 1)
Pick 89: Matthew Stafford, Det, QB8 – Somewhere along the way, he became deliciously underrated. Stafford has five Top-10 QB finishes in his last seven years, and the odd years weren’t that bad (11th, 15th). No Megatron, no problem — he’s been even better in the post-CJ world.  (Scott Pianowski 2)
Pick 90: Kyle Rudolph, Min, TE9 – Looks like I’m the Vikings sympathizer here; while others are looking California, I’m feeling Minnesota. Rudolph is coming off TE3 and TE6 seasons, and just got a presumed upgrade at quarterback. Sexy, no. Reliable, hell yes. (Pianow 1)
ROUND 10
Pick 91: Carlos Hyde, Cle, RB35 – A lot to unpack in the Cleveland backfield, and maybe I have the wrong guy. But it’s Round 10. Hyde can play in all packages and game situations. (Pianow 1)
Pick 92: Robby Anderson, NYJ, WR40 – Anderson was WR16 in standard last year; only his off-field issues are pushing his price down. But in Round 10, I’m all about upside, and he offers it. (Pianow 2)
Pick 93: Nick Chubb, Cle, RB36 – A surprise addition to a Cleveland team that shelled out considerable cash for Carlos Hyde, Chubb figures to enter into a strict timeshare immediately. He’s a sensational one-cut runner with the size, patience, power (3.77 YAC/att in ’17), balance and build (5-foot-10, 228 pounds) to pound lines on early downs. If Hyde sprains an eyelid, the rookie suddenly becomes a sure-fire RB2 on a much improved Browns team.(Evans 1)
Pick 94: Trey Burton, Chi, TE10 – One of my favorite acquisitions of the offseason, Burton will finally get an opportunity to showcase his wares week-to-week. When he logged at least 50 percent of the snap share from 2016-2017, a span of six games, he averaged 4.3 receptions and 48.0 yards per game totaling three TDs. Extrapolate that output over 16 games and he was essentially Evan Engram from last season. (Evans 2)
Pick 95: Michael Gallup, Dal, WR41 – Dallas’ receiving corps is perhaps the league’s worst, so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Gallup were to see triple-digit targets in his first season. (Behrens 1)
Pick 96: Anthony Miller, Chi, WR42 – Five Bears skill players have been drafted through ten rounds. NAGY FEVER IS REAL. (Behrens 2)
Pick 97: Carson Wentz, Phi, QB9 – He tossed 33 touchdowns over 13 games and might’ve won the MVP had he not gotten injured. Wentz should be ready for Week 1, and he’ll helm one of the best offenses in football. (Del Don 1)
Pick 98: Patrick Mahomes, KC, QB10 – Given his rushing ability, the Chiefs’ offensive weapons and system combined with their losses on defense, it’s an ideal setup for the exciting sophomore. Waiting on QB remains the way to go. (Del Don 2)
Pick 99: Marshawn Lynch, Oak, RB37 – Gruden wants to run his offense like it’s 1998 and that means good things for Beast Mode. Sure, the backfield is crowded, but right now Lynch figures to lead the pack. (Loza 1)
Pick 100: Dez Bryant, FA, WR43 – I’ll take a flyer on a three-time Pro Bowl talent who’s motivated to show up his old team.  (Loza 2)

Hogan Had Little Contact With Discovery Before Company Decided To Leave Silver Spring
Chair of Maryland Democratic Party contends governor’s actions were a ‘monumental failure of leadership’

Maryland government officials had little more than a month to try to convince Discovery Communications to remain in downtown Silver Spring after the company notified them shortly after Thanksgiving that it was considering leaving the state.
During that time, Gov. Larry Hogan spoke by phone once with Discovery CEO David Zaslav—on Dec. 8—before the multimedia company announced Jan. 9 it would vacate its Silver Spring headquarters. He never met with Zaslav, the head of one of the state’s four Fortune 500 companies.
State commerce officials initially met with Discovery officials Nov. 29—about four months after Discovery announced in late July it was acquiring Scripps Networks Interactive, based in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Meanwhile, Tennessee officials were credited by Scripps CEO Ken Lowe earlier this year with beginning talks with Discovery officials immediately about the company’s plans after the deal was announced last summer, according to published reports. Discovery eventually decided to move its headquarters to New York City and its operations center to Knoxville.
Discovery, which owns TV channels such as Discovery, Animal Planet and TLC, bought Scripps, which operates HGTV, Food Network and Travel Channel, partly to give it more leverage with cable providers in negotiating channel fees.
Though state and Montgomery County officials say they made every effort to keep the company in Silver Spring, the governor’s apparent lack of involvement appears to be in sharp contrast to his recent efforts to lure Amazon to build its second headquarters in the county, which include shepherding a tax incentive package that could be worth as much as $5 billion through the General Assembly this spring.
Landing Amazon with its promise of 50,000 jobs could be a major coup for the state and county, but the loss of Discovery, with its 1,300 employees, is an economic blow, especially to downtown Silver Spring, where it had anchored the community’s revitalization with the opening of its headquarters in 2003.

Kathleen Matthews, chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, said the record of Hogan’s communications with Discovery demonstrates his negligence. Matthews previously worked as the chief communications officer for Marriott, one of the three other Fortune 500 companies in the state.
“As somebody who worked for one of the largest corporations and major employers in Maryland for nearly a decade, I’m appalled that Gov. Hogan was so negligent and did not reach out to the CEO of Discovery, which is a major employer in our state,” Matthews said Wednesday. “I think for a governor who campaigned that Maryland would be open for business under his leadership, this was a monumental failure of leadership.”
The details about Maryland officials’ interactions with Discovery emerged in information provided to Bethesda Beat from Hogan’s office as well as emails between Discovery and state officials provided to the state’s Democratic Party through a public information request it made after Discovery announced it would leave Maryland. Those emails were shared with Bethesda Beat.
Amelia Chasse, the governor’s spokeswoman, said state officials did everything possible to keep Discovery in Silver Spring. She provided a schedule that showed Discovery representatives first advised the governor’s office Nov. 29 of the company’s potential relocation plans. Between that date and Jan. 9, when Discovery made its announcement, staff members from the governor’s office and Department of Commerce met or spoke on conference calls with Discovery officials another six times, according to Chasse.
Those meetings and calls mostly took place between Maryland Secretary of Commerce Mike Gill, his staff members, Hogan administration officials and David Leavy, Discovery’s chief corporate operations and communications officer.
Chasse wrote in an email Thursday that Hogan also spoke with Zaslav on Jan. 9, the day Discovery announced it would vacate the Silver Spring headquarters, move its global headquarters to New York City and locate its operations center at the Scripps campus in Knoxville.
“As soon as Discovery signaled their potential relocation, the Hogan administration worked swiftly with our partners in Montgomery County to fight to keep the company here in Maryland,” Chasse wrote in an email last week. “The state and county put together an aggressive, competitive incentive offering that ultimately was not able to prevail over financial and geographic realties resulting from Discovery’s merger with Scripps.”
Chasse accused the state’s Democratic Party of attempting to “score cheap political points” by criticizing Hogan for the loss of Discovery.
“The fact that Democratic leaders in Montgomery County who were actually involved in the negotiation process have offered nothing but praise for the role played by the governor and the administration raises the question of who the Maryland Democratic Party is serving with this false attack,” Chasse wrote in an email.
Matthews said Hogan, who is running for re-election in November, took every opportunity in his 2014 campaign to criticize Democrats for not being proactive in bringing jobs to Maryland.
“So it’s absurd to say this is a cheap political shot,” Matthews said. “We’re just holding the governor up to his own standards.”
The Silver Spring headquarters is Discovery’s largest office location and primarily home to the company’s operations, technology and corporate services employees, according to Discovery. The company does plan to keep a couple hundred of its employees in Maryland to handle government relations and other functions and is seeking office space. Discovery already has offices in New York, where Zaslav and many of its executives work. The company also maintains offices in Los Angeles, Miami, London, Singapore, Warsaw and Milan.
Besides Discovery and Marriott, the other Fortune 500 companies in Maryland are Lockheed Martin and Host Hotels and Resorts.
Neither state nor county officials provided details of the incentive package offered to Discovery during negotiations. Chasse said the state doesn’t typically release details of incentive packages that aren’t accepted. Jennifer McEachern, spokeswoman for the Tennessee economic development department, wrote in an email Thursday that she can’t share details about the Discovery incentive package because the contracts between the state and Discovery haven’t been finalized.
Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett said in an interview last week the governor’s office worked cooperatively with county officials to try to keep Discovery in Silver Spring, but ultimately the company’s departure was due to changes in the television industry. He believes the state’s offer exceeded the incentive package offered by Tennessee, based on the information he was provided.
“Based on what we saw and what we did analyze, it was clear to us that it was not a question of the incentive package,” Leggett said, “but a business decision.”
He said Discovery was interested in expanding its digital media operations and Scripps was set up to excel in that portion of the business.
County spokesman Patrick Lacefield wrote in an email the county first met with Discovery officials about the Scripps merger on Nov. 21 and after that county officials had a continuing dialogue with Discovery staff about its plans. Leggett said he spoke with Zaslav during this time.
Lacefield wrote the county did not offer in writing any type of incentives to Discovery to stay in Silver Spring.
One government official with knowledge of the Discovery negotiations said on background that there were concerns about providing lucrative tax or financial incentives to Discovery to keep its offices in Silver Spring because of the company’s business struggles over the past few years. Some feared that investing in Discovery might not pay off if the company couldn’t turn its business model around as consumer dollars shifted from cable subscriptions to Netflix and other on-demand media and entertainment providers, according to the official.
Since mid-2014 the company’s stock price has declined from around $43 per share to around $24 per share in April, a figure that reflected a rebound from a previous low of about $16.50 per share in November. The company has experienced declining revenue from its cable TV channels as more people cancel cable subscriptions in favor of streaming services.
The emails and meeting descriptions provided to Bethesda Beat by the state Democratic Party also showed multiple attempts by a Discovery representative to set up a meeting between Hogan and Zaslav when the governor first took office in 2015.
Discovery lobbyist Robert Garagiola sent multiple emails requesting a meeting over three months before a 15-minute call with the governor was scheduled. After sending eight messages to Hogan’s scheduler and one request to Hogan’s brother, Patrick Hogan, Garagiola wrote to Hogan’s then-Deputy Chief of Staff Michael Richard on March 24, 2015, that he had “been trying to schedule a call between Discovery Communications CEO and Governor for more than 2 months.”
“Request was 10-15 min call,” Garagiola continued in the email. “More meet and greet. The sky is not falling for Discovery in MD; CEO had developed good rapport with [former governors Martin] O’Malley and [Bob] Ehrlich (as well as Govs in other states) and is seeking the same with Governor Hogan. They are a multi-billion worldwide communications business headquartered in MD … . Can you help facilitate?”
Hogan and Zaslav eventually spoke on the phone on April 20, 2015, three months after Hogan took office, according to the records.
In response to a question about why the initial call took so long to set up, Chasse wrote, “The governor had a call with Mr. Zazlav [sic] shortly after taking office, during which they developed and maintained a cordial relationship. Discovery officials have publicly attested to the strength of the company’s relationship with the state.”
When asked for details about the calls between Zaslav and Hogan concerning the company’s relocation plans, Leavy, the Discovery executive, said in an email to Bethesda Beat that Discovery does not discuss its interactions with government officials.
“I can share that we had extensive conversations at all levels of the Maryland State Government and the office of the Montgomery County Executive over the course of our deliberations,” Leavy wrote. “Those discussions were constructive, comprehensive and wide ranging. Maryland elected officials worked very hard and did their jobs in trying to find a solution for Discovery and for the state. No one ‘lost’ Discovery.”
Leggett said he spoke twice on the phone with Zaslav during the negotiations and that the CEO said that leaving Silver Spring was a tough decision for the company. At one point in the conversations, there was a proposed compromise that would have potentially split Discovery employees between Knoxville and Silver Spring, Leggett said.
Leavy wrote in an email to Bethesda Beat last month that Discovery chose New York City as the location for its new global headquarters because of the nature of the media business and because it “is the epicenter of the media industry.”
He wrote that Knoxville was chosen for Discovery’s operations office because it has “a strong community and amenities, favorable business climate, and a more favorable cost of living.” Leavy described the Scripps campus as “world class.”
A Kiplinger report noted that Scripps spends about half of what it costs Discovery to create content for its TV channels and websites.
The Scripps headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Credit: Google Maps
Chasse said part of the reason why Maryland officials didn’t seek meetings with Discovery prior to Nov. 29 was because they didn’t have any indication the company was considering leaving Silver Spring. She noted that in September, the state worked with the company to provide a $625,000 loan to help pay for renovations to its Silver Spring headquarters. Hogan said in a press release at the time the money would be used to enable the company to “expand their headquarters and consolidate their company.” The loan was scuttled after Discovery announced it would leave.
However, in September, Discovery officials were publicly saying they had not made a decision about the location of the company’s corporate headquarters following the merger with Scripps. Earlier, in late July, shortly after the deal was announced, a Discovery spokeswoman told Bethesda Beat the company had made no decisions about office locations.
While Maryland officials were not initially active in discussions with the company about its possible relocation, Tennessee officials had been engaged since the deal was announced.
Knoxnews.com, the Knoxville News Sentinel website, reported that Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and the Knoxville Chamber had been “talking to Discovery executives” since the Scripps sale was announced. City officials were initially concerned Knoxville would lose Scripps, but the city ended up landing Discovery employees instead.
Discovery’s decision to relocate company operations to Knoxville “took something that could have been perceived as lemons, with losing a major player, and turned it into lemonade with them making themselves a major presence in Knoxville,” Bill Lyons, the chief policy officer and deputy to Rogero, told the news organization.
Lyons added that the move would cement Knoxville’s role “as a hub for video production and distribution”—something that Discovery’s initial move did for Silver Spring after the company arrived there in 2003.
The article quotes Scripps CEO Ken Lowe with crediting Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Rogero and Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett with being “actively engaged with David [Zaslav] and Discovery since the day the deal was announced.”
Matthews said Hogan’s office mismanaged its interactions with Discovery.
“One of the basic functions of a governor is to protect their constituents’ livelihoods and jobs,” Matthews said. “It’s apparent from the record that Gov. Hogan sat on his hands after Discovery reached out multiple times to him and even after the merger was announced. Obviously Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam took advantage of the opportunity. He was proactive and as a result he was able to attract hundreds of high-paying Maryland jobs to Tennessee.”
Leavy previously said in an email to Bethesda Beat at the end of March that the company is “months away” from making decisions about potential layoffs or major employee relocations as part of the planned moves.
Discovery’s exit leaves downtown Silver Spring with a 10-story, 540,000-square-foot building needing a new tenant. Discovery owns the building and has contracted with the commercial real estate broker JLL to sell it. Leggett said last week there has been some interest in the building, but most of the interest has been in dividing the space to house multiple tenants. He said the county remains interested in attracting one or two major tenants.
David Petr, CEO of Montgomery County’s Economic Development Corp., told a County Council committee last week that he’s “cautiously optimistic” that a buyer will purchase the building, but he warned that a decision will not happen “in the next month or two.”

HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can read the following steps to find out how to create an app by using this product. These are all the steps and functions that I used to make apps for my friends and me.
Step 1: Log in, and there will be numerous features in front of you.
Step 2: Click on “Create a new application” and type a name for your app.
Step 3: You will get into a site that has two smaller windows. One is for designing, and another is to show you how your app looks on a mobile. Now just go through all the parts appearing including “Design”, “Colors”, “Features”, “Application” and set up functions for your app. One tip is that you can sketch your app on paper before putting it on this product. It will be much easier to design.
Step 4: Publish your final result by choosing “Settings” on the left column and click which niche you want to post, such as Facebook, Instagram,…
And you are done. I think these are completely comfortable to go through and even a newbie can do it. Therefore, you can do it instantly. Don’t worry.
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY IT?
The reason I purchased it was because I loved making product myself very much, but I did not know a thing about coding. So if you are sharing the same problem as mine, this product is perfect for you.
Besides, I sold some of the apps that I created and made quite a lot of money. It was enough to pay a most of my food and rent, which was about 800 to 1000 dollars per month. Therefore, this can become your lucrative side business that you can work in your free time.

Hello!
I know I say this every time, but I really want to get this blog up to date. I am sooooo behind. Ugh. It sucks because I can’t remember the day that I’m writing about so well. So unfortunately, I think my humour and the small interesting details get lost. ~Sigh~
Alright, let’s get to the blog….
The Gion festival is an annual festival that happens in Kyoto in July. Unlike many festivals, it spans over the entire month rather than a single weekend. That being said, the ‘main event’ takes place on two separate weekends.
Since I’m very uninformed about the festival. I had to google it. So, here is the event’s annual calendar for the month of July. This is straight from Wikipedia. I bolded the days that I’ll be talking about in this blog.
July 1 through 5: Kippuiri, opening ceremony of festival, in each participating neighbourhood
July 2: Kujitorishiki, lottery for the parade order, in the municipal assembly hall
July 7: Shrine visit by chigo children of Ayagasaboko
July 10: Lantern parade to welcome mikoshi portable shrines
July 10: Mikoshi arai, cleansing of mikoshi by sacred water from the Kamo River
July 10 through 13: Building-up of floats(Former parade)
July 13 a.m.: Shrine visit by chigo children of Naginataboko
July 13 p.m.: Shrine visit by chigo children of Kuse Shrine
July 14: Yoiyoiyoiyama(Former parade)
July 15: Yoiyoiyama(Former parade)
July 16: Yoiyama(Former parade)
July 16: Yoimiya shinshin hono shinji, dedicative art performances
July 17: Parade of yamaboko floats(Former parade)
July 17: Parade of mikoshi from Yasaka Shrine to the city
July 18 through 20: Building-up of floats(Latter parade)
July 21: Yoiyoiyoiyama(Latter parade)
July 22: Yoiyoiyama(Latter parade)
July 23: Yoiyama(Latter parade)
July 24: Parade of yamaboko floats(Latter parade)
July 24: Parade of hanagasa or “flower parasols”
July 24: Parade of mikoshi from the city to Yasaka Shrine
July 28: Mikoshi arai, cleansing of mikoshi by sacred water from the Kamo river
July 31: Closing service at Eki Shrine
Okay, so Yoiyama basically means the festival before the parade. Yoiyoiyama is the 2 days before the parade and yoiyoiyoiyama is 3 days before the parade. Quite a mouthful hey? We went to the day before and the 2 days before event. For 2016, these dates fell on the weekend. It wouldn’t have mattered I suppose…. Our job was so random and inconsistent. We purposely asked for the Sunday (the day of the parade) off.
We went to the 2-day-before and the day-before events right after work. Since we had stupid hours (10am-7pm) and worked pretty far out of town, we couldn’t arrive until quite late. Luckily, everything was still open. I convinced Pat to come with me twice somehow haha. If you’ve been here awhile, you know, that I LOVE street food. I love the idea of eating and drinking outside. I love going to different tents and trying different types of food.
I was a bit envious and a little disappointing that I couldn’t wear my yukata (a summer kimono, basically). The majority of people out were wearing theirs and they looked so beautiful! I had a yukata that I bought a week or so prior, but because of how late we needed to arrive, I wouldn’t have had time to go home, put it on, and go back downtown. Wow, that is a big wall of text. Let’s get some pictures in! It was soooooo busy.
Mmmm… Okonomiyaki and karaage (fried chicken)!
My new camera lens creates the most flattering shadows…..
Kyoto is regularly quite busy, but this was something else. Can you see all the yukatas? There were also a lot of foreigners! This is a pretty famous event in all of Japan so at this time, there are many tourists (both Japanese and non-Japanese). It is a bit frustrating, but also kind of cool. The entire road was blocked off and there were many security people there. Unlike usual, in Japan, there were actually garbage cans! They were all overflowing, but the fact that they were there, was special haha.
The event wasn’t just the food tents. If you walked around and went through the back alleys, you could see the parade floats. Some of them were lit up, some had people playing music, and some of them were moved to different locations over the three days.
On Sunday, was the main event; the parade. I was pretty excited. Even as a kid, I really didn’t go to any parades. Also, this was my chance to wear my yukata. The parade started early in the morning, and wanted to make sure that we had a good spot to see the parade, so we woke up at an ungodly hour (for me haha). I put the yukata on myself so it didn’t look as good as it could have. Luckily I got an ‘easy style’ obi (the belt) I didn’t have to worry about tieing it. Something I didn’t know until much later, is that many people put a towel under their obi to make it look smoother. Having ;larger hips or boobs can make the obi kind of bunch up in the middle, unfortunately.
So, we were a bit unlucky and it was raining that day. My hair, that I took forever to do, turned into a puffy mess pretty much immediately. Cool. Thanks weather. Despite the rain, puffy hair and bunched up yukata, I still got a bit vain and had my own photo shoot. Luckily my umbrella was cute so no worries
We were able to get a decent spot. We should have went across the street so we could see a bit more, but we didn’t know. We waited for a looooong time before we saw anything. We arrived about 45 min to an hour before the parade started. Since we weren’t at the beginning of the parade, it took quite a while before it reached where we were. I got bored and took a lot of photos of people haha.
This is how we knew we picked the wrong side. Our sided was NOT that busy haha. Oh well.
Unlike parades in Canada, it was a sloooow parade. Obviously there is a lot of man power in this festival so that makes a difference. They stopped often to rest and do some rituals. The first float was the most interesting. There were others later on that looked the exact same, but this one had a real child inside, but the others had a doll in that place. No idea what the significance was, but it was really cool.
I was thrilled to see the guys playing their wooden flutes and piccolos atop the float. I was impressed that they could continue the rhythm by heart for such a long period of time. Also, there were many of these giant floats that were pulled manually. What we couldn’t see, unfortunately, was the turning of these huge floats. I am pretty sure this is why the other side of the street was so packed. They could see the turning.
We could hear it happening, but couldn’t really see it. Essentialy, they put a brake on the right side of the float, and all the men pulled the rope on the left side. This basically dragged the entire thing. They are huge so I imagine they are super heavy. It took them quite a few pulls to get it to turn the 90 degrees needed. This caused the entire parade to stop in its tracks. They used these brakes to do small performances and take food and water breaks. Since there were so many floats, there were a lot of pauses in the parade.
After this float, there were marches by different historical clans from Japan. Since we can’t read Kanji, we really didn’t know what clans were being displayed.
The doll version of the boy
randomly, in the middle of the parade, a red carpet and chair was laid out while another group of people made tea. They just made tea…. in the middle of the street…. then when it was finished, they served the tea to the person of importance. It was strange, but pretty interesting. It really made me wonder how many times this happened. We were like 2/3 down the parade path… so, were we the only ones to see this? Did it happen earlier? Who knows. This happened during one of the breaks that I mentioned earlier. As a float up ahead was being pulled and turned, this tea event took place.
Alright, more photos of the parade!
There was one part where some kids came out. They were dressed up really interestingly. It was pretty funny, at one point, they were all given little chairs to sit on and relax. They were given onigiri and something to drink. The older kids knew that they  had to eat secretively so they turned away from the audience while eating and drinking. The smaller guys had no idea so it was funny to see the older kids trying to coach them and cover them while they ate. It was pretty cute.
Back to the parade! I’m sure that everything has significance, so it is pretty disappointing that we couldn’t find an English guide about this event.
Also, we saw some Meiko (this is essentially a Geisha in training. It is apparently super super rare to a Geisha…. k well actually, these could be Geisha. I don’t know the difference honestly…. ) and they were so cool! Thank goodness for my huge zoom lens!
Sorry for the unflattering photos, ladies!
That was all for the festival itself. It was quite long. As you can see, it stopped raining before the parade started so we were pretty lucky. Also, I forgot to mention, but I was given a good luck charm by one of the people in the parade. I suspect it was because I was wearing a yukata. Not so many people were wearing a yukata on this day, but I think that was due to the insane amount of tourists. Many many people come for this parade.
Also, as a reference. What I was wearing was called a yukata. What the Meiko are wearing are called kimono. The kimono is much much more expensive, has a lot of layers and different parts, and is much thicker. The yukata has two parts, the fabric and the obi. They are usually thin and perfect for the heat.
Okay, that’s all! I hope I didn’t miss anything ^^~
  PS. 안녕 수원 씨!!
