Launched on June 23, the Salman Khan Films production, which features Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and the late Om Puri, collected 83.86 crore ($12.6 million) in four days on 4,400 screens in India and did not get the expected boost from the Eid vacation.

The 5-day tally was projected to reach 95 crore ($14.2 million). Chennai-based analyst Ramesh Bala and Bollywood Hungama's Joginder Tuteja are forecasting a lifetime total of 150 crore ($22.5 million).

However exhibitors and pundits are confident Salman Khan will be back in the blockbuster business with director Ali Abbas Zafar’s Tiger Zinda Hai, which co-stars Katrina Kaif and opens this Christmas.

It’s the sequel to Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, which featured Salman and Kaif as cross-border spies who fall in love during a mission and amassed 320 crore ($48.1 million) worldwide in 2012.

“Star power and good entertainment is the key. Salman will bounce back very soon: One bad Friday cannot decide his fate ,” said Bala.

“Salman is too big to be written off by one film. He will surely be in a much bigger zone with Tiger Zinda Hai and others,” agreed film industry executive Girish Johar.

Although Johar rated Salman's ‘towering and emotional’ performance as among the best of his career, he said the the opening weekend figures show “the public has not accepted his vulnerable avatar and wants him to see only in larger-than-life roles.”

Similarly, critic/analyst Aavishkar Gawande said, “Salman’s failure with Tubelight is not a big thing. Shah Rukh Khan failed last year with a good film like Fan. I had been saying from the outset that that Tubelight is not Salman's cup of tea. He is made for larger -than- life roles. That's why I too feel that he will bounce back with Tiger Zinda Hai.”

Tuteja rejects suggestions the overwhelmingly negative reviews harmed ticket sales, reasoning, “A critic can neither elevate a film nor contribute to its decline; it is the film by itself that gains or loses its points. The word of mouth even from the regular audience hasn't been forthcoming and that has resulted in such steep decline in collections."

Analyst Sumit Kadel is confident Ali Abbas Zafar's film will be a sure-shot super hit but adds, “Whether it will be as big as Aamir Khan’s PK or Dangal remains to be seen.”

Whatever Tubelight's ultimate fate, the $15 million production was in profit before it opened. NH Studioz paid 132 crore ($19.8 million) for theatrical rights in India while Sony Music forked out 20 crore ($3 million) for the music rights and Star TV bought the satellite rights.

Salman Khan celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, i.e., 27th of December and what better gift than his film crushing box office by storm! Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai has created a stir in the movie theatres and is creating a good footfall. The ex-lovers have reunited on screen for Ali Abbas Zafar's Tiger Zinda Hai, and fans can't get enough of them.

The spy thriller, which hit the screens on December 22, is busy minting moolah at the box office with each passing day. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif film completed five full days at the theatres and has collected 173 crores to date. It is all set to surpass the previous sequel of the Tiger series- Ek Tha Tiger which collected a total of 198 crores.

Tiger Zinda Hai’s highest one-day collection was recorded on Sunday which was slightly less than a half century, i.e., 45 crores and the lowest single-day collection was on Tuesday, which collected 21 crores. Even 21 crore is impressive but it was the lowest in the 5 day collection.

After Tubelight’s dull performance in the box office, Salman must be really happy with this result and what a perfect day to celebrate this! It was an extremely challenging shoot for the entire crew given we had to pull off some incredible action sequences sometimes in the blistering heat and then in the freezing cold and the love that the movie is getting right now only validates the effort that everyone had put in to make Tiger Zinda Hai a really good entertainer.”In just 5 days it has surpassed the collection of Judwaa 2 and thus has become the year’s 2nd highest grosser. The first position is still taken by Golmaal Again which stands at Rs. 205.67 crores.

The film’s cast and crew with Salman’s family celebrated this success and his birthday at Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse on Tuesday. Box Office prediction says, if it continues to run in the theatres at the same speed it could easily dethrone Ajay Devgun starrer Golmaal Returns. With its performance, we can expect that Tiger Zinda Hai Box Office Collection will continue to rise!
