“FGC ARCADIA NullDC Netplay Guide An attempted simplification by blueminder (May 7, 2020) Special Thanks: supersonicstep MarioBrotha (nullDCMultiLauncher, nullDCControlSetup) DQRF of GGXXACR Discord RaptorIIRC Teyah Jakstation reaVer PREREQUISITES Be sure the following is installed: 1. DirectX: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 2. Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 3. .NET Framework 4.8 Runtime: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-framework/net48 4. Radmin VPN: https://www.radmin-vpn.com/ NOTE: This netplay method works for any local LAN or virtual LAN setup like Radmin VPN, Hamachi, or ZeroTier. Radmin VPN is the de facto service used on FGC Arcadia. You will either need to create or join a network with others also using NullDC. OFFLINE SETUP 1. Launch "NullDC Launcher.bat" 2. Select any ROM from the drop-down menu, and press the "Play Offline" button This will launch your ROM of choice in NullDC, giving you an opportunity to test your inputs. Most popular pads and fight sticks should be automatically detected. If this works, then you're all set for netplay! If your game pad is not detected, you should be able to solve your problem in one of two ways: 2A. Exit NullDC and run "Assign NullDC Joystick Buttons.bat" This will run MarioBrotha's nullDCControlSetup application, which will prompt you with a detected joystick and ask you to press corresponding arcade buttons. Once the button assignment is complete, it automatically adds a file with your joystick name to NullDC's configuration. From here, you should be able to run the NullDC Launcher again and try out your controller. 2B. If button assignment on your joystick doesn't work with the provided utility, our last resort is using JoyToKey, which comes with this distribution in the "JoyToKey_en" directory. This may be necessary if your joystick is unable to assign buttons on the Z Axis, a known limitation with this build of NullDC. This tends to happen the most with XBOX 360 controllers. You can find NullDC's keyboard controls by reading "nulldc-1-0-4-en-win\qkoJAMMA\Keyboard.qkc" as a text file. These are the default keys for reference: 5=Start 3=Test w=Up s=Down a=Left d=Right 8=Button_1 9=Button_2 0=Button_3 u=Button_4 i=Button_5 o=Button_6 1=Coin Lastly, run "Swap Joystick And Keyboard Controls.bat" to finalize your changes in the NullDC configuration. You can launch NullDC again and see if your preferred input device finally works. NETPLAY SETUP 1. Launch Radmin VPN and create or join a network with others using NullDC. 2. Launch "NullDC Launcher.bat" If you are hosting, be sure to copy your IP from Radmin to the launcher's IP column. Save this as a preset so that the Launcher has your default host details handy. From here, press the "Host Game" button. If you are joining a game, be sure to copy your target's IP from Radmin and paste it in the launcher's IP column. Now press the "Join Game" button. Depending on your distance and ping times, you may have to adjust the "Delay" value. Start at 1, and work your way up. It takes some trial and error, but once you have it, it's smooth sailing from there. After you found the sweet spot, you can change the name of the preset where you would typically find "Default", and save your settings for the next time you want to play against your new Internet fight buddies. If you need to troubleshoot or have any questions, feel free to ask in the FGC ARCADIA Discord.”

*PHW note: everything worked fine for me, I just had to download an even older version of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio that got it running. Feel free to let me know too if you have any issues.
