In a well built, properly heat treated 1911 you can run it with the Barrel, comp and 23lb spring. Probably want to get an oversized firing pin stop without the modern bevel and a heavier mainspring to slow down the slide and increase lock time. But the kits work.

Ideally you can rock the barrel conversion in a glock 21 or a FNX 45 and have a double stack of .460 Rowland that can also shoot .45 super, .450 smc and .45aarp without breaking a sweat.

You know what I'd like to see? A .45 round that's maybe 3mm longer than ACP so it won't chamber in the wrong gun but have the bullet seated a little deeper so you get the same OAL.

.45 ACP has a lot of empty space in the case since modern powders are so much more efficient than powders from over a hundred years ago. I'd like to fill that space up to make a pissin' hot load that won't blow up the gun.

The idea is to get something closer to the power of a .45 win mag without needing a huge gun like a Wildey to do it. With the same OAL as .45 ACP it could take the same mags as the 1911 and in fact all you'd need for the conversion is a barrel and a stronger recoil spring.
