they need to make 24v atx power supplies so i can use atx power supplies instead of janky & expensive single-rail screw-terminal led psus for 3d printers. literally everything is an upside. better power filtering better efficiency built in 3.3v & 5v rails easily available & safe locking plastic connectors super cheap for like minimum twice the power easily available secondhand with basically no wear over time. and the only downside is that the absolute only way to get 24v out of them currently is by messing with mains voltage transformers & caps with your bare hands. cool!
#at some point i like mathed out using atx cables for a 12v 3d printer and i was being VERY generous with the power figure but for like#400v or something using the 20+4 and 4+4 and i think even graphics cards cables it would be. not recommendable#this was pre- nvidia field testing exactly how much power you can put through an atx connector but it seems like the ratings are like#pretty spot on#also i think led supply makes them sound way shadier than they are because meanwell makes like medical equipment psus like they CAN be fine#probably not so much the ones bundled on Amazon printers though
