Y/N'S P.O.V.

After you've filed out of the room, you are handed a small bottle of water and a piece of what you believe is bologna squished between two brown slices of bread. Though you aren't very hungry, you stuff down the food. You've got no idea when you'll be eating next so it's better to eat now than regret it later.

After you finish eating, you and the other girls with you are cuffed and strung together by rope. The girl in the front of the line is then yanked by the arm, causing the rest of the line to follow right after her. You are led back up the alleyway the officers had previously brought you and shoved into a bus.

You and Kana sit together in the small bus that smells like urine, vomit, and pure death. Your group of girls is all squished together by the time the doors shut and the wheels begin to turn. Two guards walk back and forth between the aisles, counting and making sure everyone is in their place. All is quiet from the group of girls except for the sounds of quiet sobbing. When you look over to your side, you find Kana with her hands over her eyes, silently crying to herself.

"Hey, Kana, are you alright?" you ask worriedly as you wrap your arm around her back.

"No," she whimpers as she shakes her head. "Y/N, this place is the fucking worst. They're gonna sell us off to god knows where! I'd rather fucking kill myself than go through with this shit."

It pains you not knowing what to say to her. Honestly, you don't know what to do in this situation either, but telling her that isn't going to help at all. More than anything you wish you could do something about this fucked situation, but as it stands, with your hands cuffed together, you're absolutely powerless. "Hey you," one guard then calls to the two of you. He looks like he's about to say something rude, but he changes his expression as he takes in your face. "Aren't you that Yakuza girl?" he asks as he invites himself to sit beside you.

"What business would that be of yours?" you scoff at him.

"Important girl like you shouldn't be in a mess like this," he whispers into your ear as he places his hand on your thigh. You look down as you watch him squeeze your leg as he practically spits right into the side of your face.

"Oh? Then I guess you should turn this bus around and drop me off where I belong before my whole syndicate comes looking for your dirty ass," you roll your eyes.

"I don't have to worry about that," he hums coolly as his fingers travel further up your thigh. "We'll be out of Japan soon enough."

Just as he's about to reach the apex of your thigh, the other guard calls out to him. He groans as he looks up and sees his companion calling him over.

"Psst," one of the girls in the seat beside you whispers. "Is that really true? Are you part of the Yakuza?"

"Yeah-"

"Then why the fuck aren't you doing anything, huh? If you mean so damn much then get us the fuck out of here!" one of them whisper shouts at you.

"What, do you want to get shipped off to the other side of the fucking world?!" the girl beside her intervenes. There is no 3Strands or CAST out there, you know!"

"Stupid fucking bitch," the first scoffs as she shakes her head and goes back to whispering to the girl beside her.

You try your best to ignore their crude comments which they don't try very hard to hide from you. It's so difficult not to burst out in tears, but you need to hold it together. If not for yourself, then for Kana who's in another world at this point.

A few minutes later, the bus stops, and once more you're pulled out in a line. Once you're off the bus, you realize you're now standing on the pier. However, the rope tethering you all together is cut as each one of you is individually processed before stepping onto the large cargo boat before you.

As you wait in line, you see a man with familiar, droopy, black eyes as though he'd been the loser in some fight and a bedhead that looks as if it was styled that way purposefully. You watch as he walks towards you and quickly yanks you out of the line. As you're pulled off behind a large blue cargo box, he slams you right up against the metal siding and slugs you right in the face. Blood drips from your mouth as he grips you by the hair and holds your face up to look at him.

"Ku-guri," you mutter as you fight your eyes from closing on you.

"You caused me a lotta fucking trouble, you know. You're stupid ass boyfriend asks way too many fucking questions. I've got half a mind to kill you right here," he whispers harshly in your face.

"Tsumu?" you repeat quietly as your eyebrows knit together curiously. "What do you-"

"Don't you fuckin' worry about it. Don't go thinkin' he's comin' for you either. He better fuckin' not. I made one goddamn mistake and Daisho almost killed me for that. It's not gonna happen again. I'll make sure of it."

One right after the next, he begins to pummel your face until it's swollen. One of your eyes can't even open and you're sure blood is pouring out of your face from every crevice around. You'd also swear your nose is broken and your lips are swollen as well.

"Wonderful. Now if he comes lookin' for ya, he won't even recognize who you are," he scoffs. "Now move it. I'm putting you on the boat myself. I can't trust any of these other fuckers to do it right. Faster!"

HAIR

I wanted to keep the theme of hair jewellery and mourning jewellery going and somehow incorporate it into the final work. I had seen these examples of "hairy" jewellery, like this pink mohair and pearl bracelet made by Karu Koru Jewellery or Martin Bernstein's chain and pearl works, and thought that they were really interesting examples of how hair could be used other than in the traditional weaving style. I have a variety of real and synthetic pearls from old jewellery given to me by my mum, aunty and friends that has accumulated over my lifetime and I like to pull things apart like this to repurpose and give new life.

For the necklace made with my own hair, I used a mix of plaiting and knotting with the pearls to create a very strange hairy necklace. I really enjoy the colour of my hair and the colour of the pearls, and that it almost looks like a chain of Neptunes Pearls that have washed up on the beach.

For the bracelet I used the skein of yarn that I had from my Elon Musk sculpture for his hair, I love that it almost could be a merkin. I was able to shove the pearls down the length of the yarn and create something similar to the Karu Koru piece but with it looking a lot more passable to human hair.

I also had an idea of being able to crochet the hair into something like a lace doily, but after some experiments with plaiting the hair into 3strand lengths and using it with a crochet hook, it was far too slippery and I just didn't have the skill or the right hook to be able to work with it.
