For Ribbentrop's fiftieth birthday in 1943 several of his close associates presented him with a handsome casket, ornamented with semiprecious stones, which they intended to fill with photocopies of all the treaties and agreements concluded by the Foreign Minister. "We were thrown into great embarrassment," Ambassador Hewel, Ribbentrop's liaison man, remarked to Hitler at supper, "when we were about to fill the casket. There were only a few treaties that we hadn't broken in the meantime." Hitler's eyes filled with tears of laughter.

Who wants to do some mensur fencing with me

Its only moderately dangerous we should bring this sport back it sounds fun as hell basically you both stand at arms length from each other and your not allowed to move or dodge only block whilst you try and slash at each other's faces with fencing swords and the scars you got from it were seen as a sign of honour in Germany during the 19th century and its infact how many SS officer's got there scars and Hitler banned it because hes a basterd and hates fun. Okay so edit according to someone who commented on this post it actually still exists and there are around 400 fraternities in Germany that still do it

Here goes my first post!

Hi everyone, you can call me Needle or Noodle. I had a blog called cannedneedles and was very active on Tumblr in 2011-2012, but unfortunately it got completely wiped around 2019ish.

So why are you back?

Since my interests came back these past few months, I have been re-reading books such as Eugene K. Bird's Prisoner Number 7 and Desmond Zwar's Talking to Rudolf Hess, and I've been excited to share the contents of the book along with other things as well

This blog will be a place where I will occasionally dump excerpts that I find interesting and stuff from my collection of 400+ pics of Hess that I have and of others too maybe

Disclaimer: While I do read about them, my interests are purely historical and I do not condone any of their actions nor do I support their ideology. In fact I am more likely to be a victim of their hate crime more than anything considering my background lolz

Will I try to rebuild cannedneedles from scratch on this blog???

Absolutely not!! Not that I don't want to but more like I don't think I can replicate the 90 plus pages of Hess posts that I used to have and the absolute bonkers state of mind I had to be in. But I will try to share what I have collected and learned from time to time!

Oskar Gröning (10 June 1921 – 9 March 2018) was a German SS Unterscharführer who was stationed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. His responsibilities included counting and sorting the money taken from prisoners, and he was in charge of the personal property of arriving prisoners. On a few occasions he witnessed the procedures of mass killing in the camp. After being transferred from Auschwitz to a combat unit in October 1944, Gröning surrendered to the British at the end of the war; his role in the SS was not discovered. He was eventually transferred to the UK as a prisoner of war and worked as a farm labourer.

Upon his return to Germany, he led a normal life, reluctant to talk about his time in Auschwitz. However, more than 40 years later, after learning about Holocaust denial, he decided to make public his activities at Auschwitz. He openly criticised those who denied the events that he had witnessed and the ideology to which he had subscribed. Gröning was notable as a German willing to make public statements about his experience as an SS soldier, which were self-incriminating and which exposed his life to public scrutiny. In particular, he confessed to stealing jewellery and money from gas chamber victims for his personal benefit.

In September 2014, Gröning was charged by German prosecutors as an accessory to murder in 300,000 cases, for his role at the Auschwitz concentration camp. His trial began in April 2015, after the court had ruled that, at the age of 93, he was still fit to stand trial. The trial was held in Lüneburg, Germany. On 15 July 2015, he was found guilty of knowingly facilitating mass murder and sentenced to four years' imprisonment. Following a number of unsuccessful appeals against the prison sentence, Gröning died on 9 March 2018 while hospitalized before he was set to begin his sentence.

It doesn't matter the age, they still prosecute nazis. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much good.
