The Hoard

Years ago, the Easter bunny had left a decorated egg in Pierrot’s nest on April Fools’ Day. Some other parrots in the neighbourhood called it a joke in bad taste, but Pierrot was confident he wouldn’t suddenly discover he’d fathered some colourful child. Besides, this egg was too big to be a parrot’s in the first place.

It did spark a new stage in Pierrot’s life, because from that moment on, he dedicated his life to a quest for more of those beautifully decorated eggs. His hoard grew to a size that would have made the ancestral dragons jealous. Travelling around the world, he attended spring festivals, harvest celebrations, rituals of transformation. And still, other birds criticised his gruesome collection, no matter how often he pointed out that none of these eggs would ever have started a life. Sure, they might have provided another animal food—but now they offered him beauty and joy, and wasn’t that a worthy purpose as well?

On a warm spring day, he was home amidst his treasures, in the cave he’d moved to when the nest had proven too small. Suddenly, the large egg at the centre, the masterpiece he’d received from the Easter bunny so very long ago, started to crack, and a yellow-and-red dragon hatched.

Although I do not agree that Nez ha is 12, I believe he is an adult. I do find it weird with the people taking the god associated with children, and youthfulness to be displayed in a sexual, suggestive manner by some people with art.
