Made some more progress on my high-voltage capacitor discharge probe.

I’m hoping that the design will become clearer as I get more pieces put on.

I don’t think I explained in my previous post, but this probe is intended to help me in my work on old radios and other tube gear. The idea is that you attach a ground lead to the chassis of whatever you’re working on, then you touch a metal probe to the capacitor leads inside the radio (or whatever). 

This gives the capacitor a safe (for me) path to ground so that it will shed all of the voltage stored up inside it. Capacitors in some situations can maintain a charge long after you turn off the power, so this is a good way to make sure that it’s safe to work inside a chassis.

Also... to be clear... 90% of what I’m building here is not necessary for the function of the probe. I’m just taking the time to make something that functions as well as looks cool, so there are all kinds of fun unnecessary details.

So... there will be a plastic project box that sits atop the probe and it will house a 200ohm 35watt resistor. There will be a metal probe tip that sticks out the front of the wooden housing (you can see the hole for it in the second pic). I’ve glued in some plastic nuts and will use corresponding plastic bolts to attach the project box to the wood. I’m using plastic because I don’t want any risk of electricity going where I don’t want it. You can see how the box lid attaches in the 4th and 5th pics.

The little house-shaped piece of poplar is just going to hold a vacuum tube. This doesn’t do anything except look cool. :)

There will probably be more decorative elements added as I go, and I may or may not stain the wood. I haven’t decided yet...

Well, my week off is coming to an end, so it’ll be back to work for me... hopefully I’ll have time to play around in the shop this week and make more progress on this thing.

Cirrus7 Incus Is A Mini-PC That Supports Up To 10 Core Intel Comet Lake CPUs – Core i9-10900 & AMD Ryzen 7 4750G In A SFF Design

Cirrus7, the creators of several small form factor mini PCs, has announced that their Incus PC is getting support for Intel's Comet Lake CPUs in addition to the AMD Ryzen 'Renoir' CPUs that were already supported. FanlessTech reports that the new design update should allow for up to 8 core and 16 thread CPUs to be incorporated by the SFF PC.

Cirrus7's Incus Mini-PC Gets Support For 10 Core Intel Comet Lake CPUs In Addition To 8 Core AMD Ryzen Renoir APUs

The Incus Mini PC from Cirrus7 is based on ASRock's DeskMini X300 and DeskMini H470 platform. It makes use of the same motherboards to support Intel's Comet Lake and AMD's Renoir CPUs. The Incus measures at 202x179x148mm and weighs up to 4.5 KG. This is due to the fact that the whole system is passively cooled and features a large aluminum fin array that acts as its primary heatsink.

The Incus comes with two options, the standard 35W design, and a more powerful 65W design. The main difference aside from the CPU support is that the 35W variant packs a total of 6 heatsink fins over the chassis while the 65W variant packs 10 fins. Users are given the option to include cooling for the entire system (including CPU, memory, and motherboard) or just the case itself. Since we're looking at 35W and 65W designs, the CPU support is also vastly different.

For the 35W configuration, you get up to an 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G support which is configured at 35W (cTDP), or an Intel Core i9-10900T which is a 10 core chip and has a TDP of 35Watts. The 65W design allows for the faster Core i9-10900 which clocks up to 5.2 GHz or the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G unlocked to its full potential. The system can support up to 64 GB of DDR4-3000 MHz memory in the SO-DIMM form factor.

There are two M.2 and two 2.5" slots which means that storage won't be an issue on this Mini PC. Other features include a separately sold VESA wall and screen mount, WiFi/Bluetooth capabilities that come in either DualBand Wireless AC9260 or Intel WiFi 6 AX200 options. The I/O you get also depends on the platform you're going after.

An AMD based Incus will get you two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A + Type-C) and audio/mic jacks on the front while the rear would feature 1 VGA, 1 HDMI 2.0, 1 DisplayPort 1.4, 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1, 1 USB 2.0 and a single Gigabit LAN port. An Intel-based system will get you two USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-A + Type-C) and audio/mic jacks on the front while the rear would feature 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 DP 1.4, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a single Gigabit LAN connector.

The system comes with a 120W external power supply and the full system power consumption with the top configuration is rated at around 90W. Cirrus7 also ships the platform with the latest BIOS to ensure full compatibility and system stability.

The base 35W and 65W Incus Mini PC configuration cost 449.10 Euros in both AMD and Intel flavors. Moving up to 8 cores, the AMD Ryzen 7 4750G and Intel Core i7-10700 configuration costs 1002.60 Euros which is configured with 16 GB DDR4 memory, 250 GB M.2 SSD, 1 TB HDD, and Intel WiFi 6

Varför uppgradera helljuset till xenon?

Att uppgradera helljuset till xenon vill ge dig mer ljus än två stora halogen extraljus. Att uppgradera extraljus till xenon, till ex. 75w vill ge dig en otrolig bra uppgradering av dina extraljus.

4300k, 6000k och 8000k vad betyder detta?

Detta indikerar färgen på ljuset från lamporna. 4300k är krämvit och är också färgen som levereras på alla bilar originalt, den är väldigt anonym i trafiken och kan ibland förväxlas med halogen på färgen. 6000k är vitt ljus med lite blå färg, det är den färg de flesta väljer och som ger det bästa resultat. 8000k är väldigt blåaktig och är bra för showbilar och dig som verkligen vill ha xenon look, nackdelen med 8000k är att den ger ca 20% svagare ljus än 6000k. Vad är BiXenon?

Bi kommer av latin och betyder två. Om du har Bixenon har du två xenonsystem, ett på helljus och ett på halvljus. På H4-2 kitet är Bixenon i ett och samma system.

Är dessa eftermonteringskit godkända för användning på väg?

Ja. Men ett krav är lampspolare och automatiska höjdjusterbara reflektorer för att inte blända motgående bilar om din bil är tungt lastad. Lamporna bör också vara godkända för xenon. Men med strålkastarna korrekt justerade kommer du inte att blända någon bara kom ihåg att justera strålkastarna om du är tungt belastad.

Varför kan jag inte bara köpa lampan och montera den?

En vanlig bil har ett 12-voltssystem och en xenonlampa behöver 23 000 V för att kunna fungera. Ballasten du får i kitet ökar spänningen när lamporna tänds till 23000v och stabiliserar vid 85v när lamporna är tända.

Fördelar med xenonLängre liv; En xenonlampa har ett gjennomsnittsliv på 2500 timmar, så 3-5 gånger längre livslängd än den traditionella halogenlampan. Xenonlamporna har inte heller glödtråd som en halogenlampa och tar inte skada av ojämna vägar som halogenlampan gör.

Mer ljus; En 35watt Xenonlampa producerar tre gånger mer lumen jämfört med en 55watt halogenlampa. Tre gånger starkare ljus. Ljuset reflekterar skyltar och vägmarkeringar otroligt mycket bättre än halogen.

Vitare ljus; Halogen producerar ett gulaktigt ljus medan Xenonljus producerar blått-vitt ljus som är närmare naturligt dagsljus.

Mindre värme; Xenonlampor använder mindre elektricitet (35w) än konventionella halogenlampor (55w) och utvecklar också mindre värme.

Bilen kommer inte bara att ha det säkraste och bästa ljuset tillgängligt utan också vara snyggare och se nyare ut än tidigare. Xenonljus är dyrt extrautrustning som ofta bara levereras på de senaste och dyraste bilmodellerna. Låt dig inte luras av xenonlook glödlampan, den är inte xenonljus och kan inte jämföras med den verkliga produkten. 

Körljus

Halvljus

Högst 2 halvljus tillåts. Dessa bör inte lysa ljusare än 0,7 lux i en höjd av 1,10 meter, mätt 25 meter framför lyktan.Användning av halvljus i kombination med helljus är tillåtet.Användning av halvljus i kombination med dimljus är inte tillåtet. 

Dimljus

Det är inte tillåtet att ha mer än 2 dimljus.Användning av dimljus i kombination med halvljus är inte tillåtet.Det är tillåtet att använda dimljus som körljus i stället för halvljus.I princip är det inte tillåtet att använda dimljus i kombination med helljus. Undantaget är låghastighets kurvkörning (10-20 km / h).

Parkeringsljus

Endast två parkeringsljus är tillåtna på bilen. Därför är det inte tillåtet att använda parkeringsljus i eftermonterade strålkastare om de vanliga parkeringsljusen tänds samtidigt.Parkeringsljus ska alltid tändas i kombination med halvljus, dimljus, helljus och bakljus.

Eftermonterade bromsljus

Bakmonterade bromsbelysning, även av högtsittande typen, bör tändas kontinuerligt vid aktivering. Eftermonterade bromsljus som blinkar eller på annat sätt är lämpliga för att störa andra trafikanter är inte tillåtna.

Godkända lyktor
