look i understand if people just don't like the idea of billford, i think we have a different internal concept of what shipping means (they're not good for each other at all but i need to dissect their dynamic like a bug. you understand. it's fun) but it's fine to avoid things you don't like, good for you genuinely
however people saying they like. don't see it. like. i'm not saying there's no platonic way to read it, i'm aroace spec myself i'm all for reading things in different ways. but i do think saying they weren't partners in any queer sense at all is trying too hard to go against what the narrative is trying to say, or missing it. somehow
anyway media literacy time if a character makes a joke like this
and the previous context of that joke within the show is that it's about an ex wife. what connection do you think the text is trying to get you to make.
and that's just from a writing point of view. not even noting that from an in universe perspective ford likely knows the joke from the same source as stan. and is therefore. placing himself in that role of the joke are you seeing where i'm coming from
(not to mention bill's side of this text which is. extremely manipulative but also does not read very platonic. again, it can technically be read as platonic! bill literally can manipulate ford's feelings. but the specific wording used is very much meant to look like possessive ex partner wording whether the character means it that way or not. it's coding. look again i'm not saying it was good for them i'm just saying there was something there.)
and then there's also the divorce/break up/rock bottom input on the website. like. how else is that supposed to be read. and the corresponding page in the book itself.
the language being used here. like yes he's saying it in a joking way but then there's the other side that isn't joking which is him crying at the bar. it's the both sides (the very coded language on top of the very genuine emotions and dynamic beneath)
i know most of us are on the same page with this i've just seen a couple people saying they don't see it when this is some of the most clear cut coding i've ever seen. and these are just the things that explicitly reference a relationship off the top of my head i'm not even including the general vibes of Everything
tl;dr it's barely even subtext anymore it's all but straight up text. what's not clicking have we forgotten what coding is (lighthearted i just enjoy the phrase what's not clicking. what's not clicking)

Today I learned that the Pope has the right to appoint secret cardinals, and even the cardinals themselves may not realize that they now have a new position. Popes have the right to make the name public at any time, but if the Pope dies before the Cardinal's name is made public, the individual ceases to be a Cardinal.
Yes, Catholicism is weird.
But more importantly, there is only one person in the world who can prove that I am not a cardinal.

You know what I need for a DCxDP crossover
Alternate timeline ghost/realms Batman who may or may not have become a god of family adopting the entirety of Amity Park. Like every single liminal or ghost, they're his kids now. Sure they have human parents in the living realm too, but they're all developing cores and need a realms parent too.

philosophically i like to play hard and loose with canon. but also i physically can’t start writing timkon fic until i’ve read all 100 issues of superboy (1994) and all 185 issues of robin (1993) and all 56 issues of young justice (1998) and all 26 issues of red robin (2009) and

This is how I know my personality could never cut it in a typical Naruto SI/OC scenario: I've got quite weak hips, and you would not believe the internal toddler tantrums I throw every time I tell myself it's time to lie down and do my little exercises so I can, you know, go about my life. (Go jogging. Walk for long distances. You know!)
"But training would be different if you knew you had to do it to live!" seems to be the dominant vibe in most of those stories. And I assume the self insert protagonists of such fics are written by people who are very different to me but... if the threat of death was not immediate and consistent, neither would my workout be LOL.

Listening to a podcast interview with the directors of Treasure Planet, and one of the most fascinating things is when they talk about how the '90s Disney animation climate was all about making these prestige animated films with stories that could have been done in live action (Hunchback, Pocahontas), and these guys fought to make films that could only be done (or at least be best done) with animation. Because it's kind of the inverse of their current philosophy of making everything live action even if it's a story that's better in animation. So anyway if the live-action Treasure Planet thing is really happening, it's like spitting in the face of this movie's intent.

If Rain breaks Payu's rules, he gets a punishment.
Rain isn't mad at all about Payu not texting him like he had promised weeks before he would-
Rain probably dismissed those as just words, maybe even forgot.
Payu is showing Rain that he takes those words very seriously. That is a Rule- "Rain's" Rule (quotes because he came up with it on Rain's behalf). A foundation of their relationship as much as Payu's own Rules of "no cursing" and "responsibilities come first".
Even though Rain has said nothing about Payu being out of reach and not texting him, Payu needs to acknowledge that the Rule was broken. Especially since this is the first violation of "Rain's" Rule.
He asks for forgiveness wholeheartedly and sincerely, and waits patiently for Rain's forgiveness. A Dom who takes and never gives is no Dom, that's an abuser, and it's how Sky ended up hurt so horrifically. Payu is the example of the true and genuine Dom- someone who respects their sub with the same wholehearted care and devotion as they expect to receive. No matter if it's a big or small mistake.
