sometimes work involves:
- dying in the heat. this is summer weather. we have had no time to adjust.
- fending off customers who want to buy things they have no business dragging up from the back of the growhouses. like plug trays. there are Employee Only signs! please,,
- printing and laminating signs. me & J didn’t bicker over the printer, at least. we were both up there! but at different times of day.
- planting tomatoes while manning the register, so I didn’t actually get everything planted. but there’s tomorrow! I have to get them (and the other misc veggies for this week) done tomorrow!!
- selling geraniums. but with a warning every time! they are hot dry plants! don’t put them in the ground now! they’re gonna DIE. please just wait a month. it might snow in a few days. why are people so dang bloodthirsty for geraniums every year. calm down.
- taking a chunk out of my stupid leg by stepping wrong and scraping the side of a big heavy pot. couldn’t catch myself properly bc I was holding plants. would’ve been a bloody mess if I hadn’t been wearing trousers. nice.
- Ro: WHAT are you doing??? me: suffering. what are YOU doing??? Ro: oh good. the curse worked. :3 me: man, I thought we were friends? :(
- she came by later and threw two slim jims at me lmao. friends. :)
#the prices changed again this year so I gotta keep looking at the register list#like I'm new. like it's my first day pressing buttons. nooo

Medicinal Diseases
One way to deal with zombie bites. 1190 words
~~~
Stef stumbled as she got out of the car, but Jessica was there to help her. The emergency room entrance was close. At this time of night, there had even been a parking space nearby so Jessica didn’t have to abandon her car in the loading zone. They both knew there was no way she’d be leaving Stef to move it.
Medical personnel met them just inside the door. Jessica had called ahead, telling the 911 operator that (1) her girlfriend had been bitten by a zombie, (2) they were on the way to the hospital now, speed limits be damned, and (3) somebody should take a cleanup crew to what was left of the zombie in their yard. The operator had agreed.
Now Stef was on a gurney, being whisked through the halls while Jessica kept pace and answered questions for her.
“How long has it been?” asked a nurse.
“It was right at midnight,” Jessica said. “We went outside to see the fireworks, and it was waiting for us.”
Stef whispered, “Happy New Year,” and Jessica squeezed her good hand.
“Were you injured at all?”
“No, I just creamed it with a flowerpot,” Jessica said, eyes flicking back to Stef. “Sorry again. I’ll buy you a new one.”
Stef insisted that it was fine as Jessica told the nurses about the way Stef had kept the monster away from her neck by shoving her forearm into its mouth, and how Jessica had strewn the porch with ceramic, dirt, geraniums, and gore. Then she’d grabbed their things and hustled Stef into the car.
One last set of doors opened, admitting the gurney and its various attendants into a room with a bed. Stef was helped onto it while people rushed around preparing things. The bloody dishtowel was carefully removed from her arm. Stef was surprised that it didn’t hurt. When she saw how discolored the messy bite was already, she realized that was a bad sign.
Now that she thought about it, her whole arm was pretty numb. And the room kept tilting slightly. Somebody would say if an earthquake was happening, right?
They were doing something with her arm. An injection. That didn’t hurt either, though it felt faintly cold as it moved through her veins.
“Drink this.” A paper cup appeared in front of her, held by a hand wearing a glove. Stef struggled to focus. Red liquid, very blurry. Raising her other hand took far longer than it should have.
When it became obvious that Stef’s coordination wasn’t up to it, the nurse held the cup to her mouth while someone else cradled her head. Jessica.
The red stuff tasted bad. Like blood? She didn’t want to finish it, but everyone in the room urged her to, and it was a small cup anyway. A different cup full of blue mouthwash appeared as soon as she finished.
After she’d spat into the tub that someone else held up, and had her mouth wiped by another gloved hand, Stef let her eyes close. Jessica was talking to her. Such a nice voice. The words were probably nice too. She’d have to ask what they were later.
Stef snapped awake. Time had passed. How much? No idea. Jessica was sitting next to her while two nurses talked at the foot of the bed, and they all gathered close when Stef lifted her head.
Jessica spoke first. “You’re gonna be okay,” she said. “They got it in time.”
“Just one more treatment, then you’re in the clear,” said one nurse, an older woman. “Let’s have a look at that arm.”
Stef found that her injury was bandaged, though more lightly than she would have expected for so much torn flesh. When the nurse removed the gauze, Stef was amazed to see a much smaller gouge than she’d remembered, and it was even healthy colors.
Were the edges mending as she watched?
“Very nice,” said the nurse. “Just a few more minutes, I’d say.” She checked her wristwatch and glanced at her coworker. “And we’re well within the safe zone. Good job getting here so quickly.”
Jessica smiled at that, sitting straighter in the chair. She squeezed Stef’s shoulder. “The stoplights were in our favor.”
Stef smiled back at her, then looked at her arm again. It was healing that fast. “What kind of treatment was that?” she asked. “I didn’t know we had any kind of healing magic!”
“We don’t,” said the nurse. “Not exactly. What we do have is a different problem, but one that’s reversible once it fixes the first one for us.”
“Vampirism,” the male nurse said. “Turns out that regeneration of theirs works on zombie necrosis too.”
“Vampires?” Stef asked with a touch of panic. She tongued her canines to see if they were sharper. Maybe?
“It’s temporary,” Jessica said, putting both hands on Stef’s shoulder to calm her. “There’s a mix of holy water and garlic that’ll stop it before it goes too far.”
“Don’t forget the UV lights,” said the male nurse, nodding toward the bank of lightbulbs waiting on a wheelie cart in the corner of the room.
“Oh,” Stef said. It felt like she should have said more, but that was all she was coming up with.
She thought back to the sight of the rotten face coming at her, its mouth open and its grip strong. She shuddered. The nightmares were going to be bad.
She did have one question after all. “Vampires are immune to zombie bites, then?”
Jessica gave her a strange look while the female nurse said yes.
“But before you ask,” the nurse continued, “We’re not allowed to skip the final treatment, no matter how many waivers you sign. There are other ways to seek out that particular change, and the hospital can’t be held liable for any immortal who might regret their life choices later down the road.”
“Even with the waiver?”
The nurse smiled with infinite patience. “Legal issues aren’t the problem. An angry vampire isn’t likely to take their grievance before a judge. And yes, it’s come up before. Our security team is armed with many things, including garlic and special flashlights.”
“Okay,” Stef said, pulling her arm in. “Just asking.”
The nurse patted her leg. “You’ll be all right,” she said. “This sort of trauma can bother a person, though. If you want to talk to someone about it, give these folks a call.” She handed Stef a brochure for counciling services.
“Thank you,” Stef said.
“I understand they give good advice about life choices too,” the nurse said with a wink. “So people don’t rush into anything.”
“Oh.” Stef looked at the brochure again, then at Jessica, who was wearing a very complicated expression. “Thanks. I’ll think about it.”
The nurse beamed. “You do that. In the meantime, I think we’re just about ready for your last treatment. Would you like sunglasses, honey?” This last was aimed at Jessica, who said yes please.
They got everything ready while Stef lay there, a healing wound in one arm and a brochure in the other hand. She felt her teeth and thought about it.
#my writing#zombies#vampires#hospitals#creative medicine#writeblr#amwriting#this turned out a little more intense than I expected#but the world they live in is an interesting one#I explored the idea in a post half a year ago#and now it seems worth writing out#still an intriguing concept
Unwanted Animal
One
A/N: Sooo this is my first Lambert x OC fic that I intend to have multiple parts of. The title came from The Amazing Devils’ song That Unwanted Animal which I will link here. It’s an incredible song. This is going to be a Lambert x fem!OC and unlike my other works this one is going to be relatively dark in some senses. Under the cut is a deeper explanation :) I want to give a huge HUGE thank you to @writingawaymylife because without them I wouldn’t have made this as good as it is and it probably wouldn’t even be out yet! Thank you again so so so much for helping me babe!!! You’re absolutely amazing <3 And just a reminder guys that I messed with my tags a while back so now you have to go to here to be tagged in any of my works.
Warnings: graphic depictions of death, descriptive crime scene, gory, murder, death, mentions of sexual assault, mentions of forced pregnancy, mentions of kidnapping
Word Count: 4.5k
Additional Note: There’s going to be mentions of sexual assault but very brief, nothing descriptive and I will always always tag it in the warnings. There’s also going to be relatively gory and bloody deaths, mentions forced pregnancy and kidnapping, and kidnapping. I will always always always tag all of this in the warnings. This story will never ever have descriptive parts of any sexual assault. That’s something I will not do. Even though I will mention it a handful of times through the entire story, I do not plan to go into any details but if that changes I will let you know by tagging it in the warnings. I just want everyone to know that you do not have to read this! Please do not read this if you know or feel that any of these matters could be triggering for you. I know content with Lambert is very light and we don’t have a lot of it but if you want to read Lambert works that aren’t dark like this one please go to my masterlist here or if you have a prompt or scenario you want to see, drop it in my ask box!! I’m always open to asks. Again please please please don’t read this if you do know this will trigger you in any sort of way. Your mental health is more important than me getting notes on this. It’s just fiction. Your mental health should not suffer at all because of it :)
[ Aachen, Temeria ]
“She killed him! She killed my husband!”
Lambert ran his hand over his face, cursing the gods for putting him in this situation.
Across from him sat a woman, now a widow, sobbing as she tried to get out the story of her husband’s death.
The witcher hadn’t meant to stop in the small town of Aachen. He was only passing through when this widow offered a decent reward for whoever killed her husband’s murderer.
She introduced herself as Haldana Dielke. She wore a dark blue dress with gold laces up the front of the dress. Around her neck was an expensive golden necklace with three sapphires dangling from the thick chain. A sapphire ring held in gold was on her left hand along with a few other rings. Her hair was long and gray at the roots but blonde towards the ends. A braid was intricately formed down the top of her head where her hair would part but this was only meant to keep her hair from getting into her face.
“Look, lady. I don’t have all day.” He leaned forward in his chair, large hand clasping around the mug of ale on the table. “Either spit it out or I’ll be moving on.”
The widow sniffled and wiped her eyes with a cloth.
Lambert very briefly glanced around the room, spotting a group of men looking in his direction. They weren’t the only ones practically staring at the witcher. He knew very well the patrons of the upper class establishment were whispering about him, about how he didn’t belong there.
“Do you know who killed your husband?”
“Aye. It was that murderous whore Rosalia Larsen of Cidaris. She killed him.”
“Never heard of her.” Lambert put the mug down and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
“She’s slaughtered men from here to Vizima. Just last week, she butchered a pig farmer in front of his children. Can you believe that?”
“I’ve heard of worse.”
“They say that when she’s ready to kill again, a storm rumbles in the sky. They say it’s the gods trying to warn her next victim.”
“So she’s an assassin?”
“Hardly.” The woman scoffed. “She isn’t hired to kill anyone. Just does as she pleases. So? Are you gonna kill her or do I have to find someone else?”
“I’ll do it.” Lambert rose to his feet. Job seemed easy enough. He’d be out of town before the sun set and on his way to Redania. “It would help if I took a look at the place your husband was killed. See if I can find anything useful.”
“I’ll take you there.”
***
The murder took place at an inn just down the road from the tavern Lambert met the widow at. She refused to go into the room but pointed him in the direction and disappeared down the stairs, crying hysterically.
Lambert was glad she left. All the crying she did was starting to get on his nerves.
He pushed the door to the room open and stepped in.
The room was anything but nice and tidy. The blankets on the bed had been ripped off and a pillow was lying in one of the many pools of blood. Drawers to the dresser were pulled open, clothes ripped from them and thrown onto the floor. A pot of what used to be red geraniums was on the floor. The pot had shattered and it looked as though a chunk of the pot was used as a weapon. There was a piece on the floor covered in blood. Crimson splattered across a mirror in the room. That same mirror was splintered, pieces of flesh still clung to the shards of glass.
“Poor bastard.” Lambert muttered, knowing it was the victim’s face that had been slammed into the mirror and then dragged across the broken pieces.
“That’s what I’ll say.”
The witcher looked over his shoulder to see a man standing in the doorway to the room. He was old and gray with a spectacle on his right eye.
“Name’s Arne Halfdorn. I’m the coroner.”
“Town this small has a coroner?”
“Oh, no. I work for this town and the surrounding ones. I was called here to inspect the death of Master Dielke.”
“What’s there to inspect? The guy was stabbed.” Lambert turned his attention to the blood on the floor. He knelt down, inspecting the boot print in the red liquid. It was small, too small to be a grown man’s but not small enough to be a child’s.
“That’s an understatement. I have yet to finish looking over the corpse, I wanted to take a further look at the crime scene. But from what I’ve seen, he was stabbed multiple times and endured quite a lot of trauma to multiple parts of his body. Bruising and swelling in his face suggests blunt force trauma.”
“He was used as a punching bag.” Lambert looked around the room, yellow eyes carefully scanning everything. “It was personal.”
“Has Madam Dielke hired you to track down the murderer?”
“She has.” The witcher spotted a necklace underneath the edge of the bed. He stood up and moved to retrieve it. “What can you tell me about Rosalia Larsen of Cidaris?”
“Not much to be quite honest.” Halfdorn fixed his spectacle, watching Lambert inspect the necklace. “All I ever see are her victims, and might I say that woman has a lot of rage and strength.”
“What makes you say that?”
“All of her victims suffered terribly in their last moments of life.”
“Know anything about her?”
“No. All I know is she used to work for the Dielke’s as a maid.”
“Dielke’s widow didn’t mention that.” Lambert muttered.
The pendant on the golden necklace was a red ruby. He stuffed it into his pocket and sighed. Of course she didn’t mention to him that she had personal ties to the killer. If she didn’t tell him that, what else was the old woman keeping from him?
“Well, I’ll leave you to your work, witcher.” Halfdorn nodded once to Lambert before leaving.
As he watched the coroner leave, Lambert took a deep breath.
The scent of lavender and rose caught his attention. It had to be her, Rosalia Larsen. The scent didn’t belong in the room.
He stepped out of the room, eyes focused on the wooden floor. There were spots of blood down the hallway, not completely boot prints but the witcher figured it had to be from the killer. They disappeared on the top of the staircase but the scent trail continued.
***
Mud squished beneath his boots. It had been steadily raining all day long. Luckily, it had stopped for the time being.
The trail took him all the way across town to the edge of the forest but it stopped there. There were too many scents mixing with the killer’s. Damp moss, pine needles, and the rain were just a few things interfering with the scent. There was a pack of wolves that had recently passed through, leaving behind pawprints in the mud as well as their musty, wet dog smell.
Lambert looked down at the patch of mud, finding a wolf’s print inside of a boot print. He knelt down to inspect a boot print in the mud, the same size as the one from the scene of the murder.
“Great.” He muttered. He wasn’t too thrilled about searching the woods for the murderer.
He drew his silver sword and ventured into the forest.
***
The tracks ended beside a large oak tree. Lambert sighed and looked around for anything that could lead him to his target.
“Fuck me.” He muttered. He could hear a heartbeat, steady and calm but he didn’t have enough time to figure out where it was coming from.
“Did she send you after me?” A voice came from above him.
The witcher stepped away from the oak, tightening his grip on his sword.
A woman was kneeling on a thick branch about six feet above his head. Her hair was dark and braided, the braid pulled over one shoulder. A few unruly strands fell out around her face, acting as some sort of frame for her hardened features.
She stood up on the branch and stepped off, landing just a few feet from the witcher.
Now that she was closer, he could take in her appearance better. Her eyes were piercing blue and her jaw was squared with high cheekbones. She wore a white blouse with poofy sleeves that hung off of her shoulders. Over top of it was a blue corset with white floral designs. Her pants were black leather and her boots were the same black leather, though they were a bit worn. Two daggers rested on either of her hips. Black gloves covered her hands.
“Depends.” Lambert readjusted his grip on his sword. “Are you Rosalia?”
“I am.” She nodded softly, eyes flickering down to the sword he held. “You’re a witcher. Did she tell you I was a monster?”
“She did, but your actions kinda speak for themselves.” Lambert raised his sword, pointing the tip at her, and took a step towards her.
Rosalia moved backwards until her back was to the large oak tree and she had nowhere to go. The cold metal just barely touched the column of her throat, yet she didn’t show fear. She didn’t beg for her life. She didn’t weep like so many others did.
Icy blue eyes locked with Lambert’s.
“Did she tell you that her husband raped me?” Her voice was quiet, trembling just slightly.
Lambert didn’t move, didn’t react to her words.
“If she neglected to mention that, then I’m sure she didn’t tell you that he impregnated me because she couldn’t have children. They stole my baby from me. I…. I never even had a chance to hold him.”
“That explains why you killed her husband. Doesn’t explain why you kill others.”
Rosalia looked away for a moment, something moving in the brush stole her attention. It was a rabbit.
She didn’t care to explain herself, to give this man her sob story. He wouldn’t care. No one cared.
“If you’re going to kill me, get on with it.” She turned her head back to him. “I’m sure Haldana Dielke is offering quite the reward for my head. Just make sure that once she’s given you your pay, you slice her fucking head clean off. The whore deserves it.”
Lambert knew it would be easy just to kill her and collect his reward and be on his way. But a part of him wanted to know if Rosalia’s words were true, if what she had done was kill her abuser.
With a heavy sigh, he moved away from her and lowered his sword.
“How do I know you’re telling the truth and not just trying to get me to spare your life?”
“You don’t.” Rosalia stepped away from the tree trunk. “I don’t have to say anything to get you to believe me. I could’ve killed you the second you stepped beneath this tree. But I didn’t. I don’t kill without reason.”
“The pig farmer, the one you killed in front of his children. What about him?”
“Oh, he was lucky.” A cold smirk came to her lips. She began to move to the left, slowly circling Lambert like a cat would a mouse. “There’s a little girl who went missing four months ago. She was found with a broken neck in the woods just that way.” Rosalia nodded in the direction of the town. “He stole her from her garden and had his way with her. The townspeople did nothing when they learned of what he did. He supplies them with meat. I couldn’t stand idly by while that little girl’s family suffered.”
“Killing him wasn’t your call.” Lambert followed her every move, turning as she circled him so his back was never to her.
“Neither is killing me yours.”
Rosalia pulled a dagger from her hip and lunged at him.
He stepped away and brought the sword down to slash at her arm. Her movements were swift and quick. She spun, narrowly avoiding the blade as she brought her arm in.
He advanced towards her, knowing he had the upper hand with his sword.
Rosalia drew the second dagger, using both this time to catch the blade of his sword just above her head. Her eyes met his, a dangerous smirk crossing her pink lips.
A growl vibrated in his throat. He stepped towards her and delivered a heavy kick to her abdomen. She fell back onto the ground, losing both of her daggers. Before she had a chance to get up, Lambert stabbed at her with his sword. She rolled out of the way, kicking the outside of his knee.
He grunted at the pain, feeling something crack.
She jumped to her feet, gathering her daggers hastily. He was quick though, and she underestimated that.
As she was turning around to charge him, he was already there, pointing his blade at her.
“You’re quick, woman. I’ll give you that.” He panted, out of breath and a little impressed with her abilities.
She breathed heavily through her nose, smirk still playing on her lips. She sheathed both daggers, holding her hands by her sides with her palms towards him.
He pulled his sword back, ready to decapitate her with one clean swoop.
Rosalia ducked but charged him, tackling the witcher to the ground.
His sword fell from his grip and landed a few feet away.
She managed to punch him once in his jaw before he used his strength to knock her off balance and roll over on to her. He sat on her stomach, knees on either side of her torso.
He caught each of her hands as she tried to punch him. The smirk disappeared and a snarl replaced it.
Being that he was on her stomach, she was able to reach up with her legs and lock her ankles around the front of his neck. From there, she forced him backwards until he let her hands go and fell back.
Rosalia rolled backwards over her shoulders, landing on her feet a safe distance from the witcher. This gave her enough time to sprint away from him.
“Fucking hell.” Lambert stood up and brushed off his clothing. He picked up his sword, muttering a few curses as he sheathed it.
She was gone, disappearing into the darkening forest.
***
The sun had long since set on Aachen. Most of the townspeople were either at the tavern or in their beds.
Lambert met the widow at the tavern to inform her that his hunt was unsuccessful and that her life was probably in danger.
“So?” Haldana sat up as Lambert approached her table. She gestured to the seat in front of herself where a mug of ale sat for the witcher. “Is it done?”
“Yeah, no. Larsen’s a fast one. She escaped.” Lambert shook his head. He didn’t bother to sit down, not wanting to stay for very long. “You might want to get your family out of here. I’m sure she’ll come back and try to kill you.”
He moved to walk away but she stopped him.
“Wait! What makes you say that?”
The witcher muttered a few curses under his breath before turning back to her.
“She told me that after I killed her, I should kill you too. Sounded pretty angry over something.” Lambert watched the woman for a moment. Curiosity was eating up at him. “What’s your deal with her? Heard she was your maid. Why the sudden desire to kill you and your family?”
“Rosalia was hardly our maid.” Haldana shook her head, twisting a ring on her finger around. “She was a nanny, and a shite one at it.”
“Killer nanny.” He muttered under his breath. “Nice.”
“What did she tell you?” Haldana raised her brows.
Lambert glanced around the tavern briefly, spotting a hooded figure sitting on the opposite side of the establishment.
He pulled out a chair and sat down across from Haldana.
“Your husband took advantage of her.”
“Stupid whore.” Haldana shook her head, brushing her fingers over her hair. “She‘s been spreading rumors like that for as long as I’ve known her. She’s untrustworthy, witcher. You have to kill her before she harms my children.”
“If I’m staying in town any longer than tonight, I’m gonna need more as a reward for my work.”
Haldana muttered under her breath something Lambert didn’t care to listen to before agreeing.
“I must be going.”
The witcher watched her leave, then shook his head, taking a drink of the ale. His eyes gazed over the rim, watching the hooded figure move around the table to take Haldana’s spot.
It was Rosalia.
The witcher held her gaze, placing the ale back down on the table. Beneath the table, he reached into the sheath hidden in his boot to pull out a small dagger.
“Never met someone who willingly sat at the same table as the person hired to kill them.”
“Oh, you wouldn’t dare lay a hand on me here in front of all these people.” She almost rolled her eyes at him.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, sweetheart.” The corner of his lips turned up just slightly.
Rosalia’s hands rested on the table. She directed her gaze down to them, rubbing her knuckles.
She wasn’t wearing gloves at the moment so Lambert was able to see the bruising around her knuckles. They appeared swollen, probably broken. That had happened when she murdered Dielke.
“Besides I’m sure if these people were to learn who you were they’d be liable to kill you themselves.”
A devilish grin came to her lips like she wanted them to try.
Lambert reached into a pocket on his armor and Rosalia stiffened up, hands flattening on the table as she prepared to run.
“I found this in the room where you butchered Dielke.” He held up the golden necklace, the ruby dangling in the air. He saw the way her features shifted. She leaned back in her chair, hands falling to her lap. The grin disappeared.
She lost in the midst of the struggle. Dielke tried to put his hands around her throat but only managed to grab the necklace. The fragile gold chain snapped and in her escape she didn’t have time to search for it.
“I take it this is yours.” Lambert eyed the ruby. “Looks a little expensive for an assassin.”
“My father gave it to me before he died.” She answered flatly, tapping her fingers against her thigh. “It is very expensive. I imagine you’ll get quite a good deal from it when you sell it.”
Lambert said nothing for a while, placing the necklace down on the table.
“I’m sure you’ve had the chance to kill the widow. Why haven’t you?”
“The longer it takes for me to end her life, the more she just frequently sees my face around town, at the market or even passing by her house…. She’ll be overcome with fear. It will drive her mad.” The thought alone of inciting fear into Haldana made Rosalia smirk.
“If you’d like to be paid for murdering me, do it soon. I’m not sure how long I can hold off the inevitable.”
She stood to her feet and moved towards the door.
Lambert stood from his chair and put his arm out to block her. She stopped just before he had a chance to grab her. One hand took hold of his wrist while the other held his upper bicep. In one swift turn, she had him pinned to the table with his arm behind his back.
“It was nice running into you, witcher.”
He stood up and watched her disappear out of the tavern.
***
The next morning, Lambert was up bright and early to do a little research on Rosalia Larsen. He was curious about her. He didn’t completely believe the story she told him, but he was sure there was some truth to it.
Everyone in town knew her name. Many refused to tell the witcher anything, believing she’d come after them. Others provided useful information.
As the sun slipped behind the horizon, the witcher found himself wandering into the woods, secretly hoping that he could find her there.
He began to whistle to himself, twirling his sword around in his hand.
“That’s a lovely tune, witcher.” Her melodic voice came from above him.
He sighed, shaking his head as he looked up.
Rosalia was sitting on a branch high up, swinging her legs back and forth.
“What’s with you and trees?”
“What’s with you being bad at your job?” She countered, quirking a brow. “I’ve heard stories of your kind. Surely you’d have killed me by now if you wanted me dead.”
Rosalia slipped down from the branch, landing right in front of him. Piercing blue eyes looked up at him, the corner of her lips tugging up.
“Why is it you haven’t killed me?”
“Call it my curiosity.” He tilted his head to the side a little. Yellow eyes flickered down to shamelessly gaze at her bust.
“My eyes are up here, witcher.”
He smirked just slightly, finding her eyes.
“What is it you’re curious about?” Rosalia turned and moved away from him, walking around the thick base of the beech tree. Lambert sheathed his sword, knowing very well she was dangerous but he enjoyed the rush.
He moved to follow her.
“You. It seems everyone in Aachen fears you.”
“That’s not a difficult task. People don’t like those who are different from them.”
“You’re from Cidaris. What brought you to Temeria?”
Rosalia stopped circling the tree and instead turned to face him. The playfully dangerous glimmer in her eyes disappeared.
“You don’t need to hear my story, witcher. I’m not interested in your pity.” She quietly told him.
“Good. I’m not a pity party.” He crossed his arms.
Rosalia turned and started to walk through the woods, moving in and out of trees. She was swift and agile. Never once did she trip over a tree root or lose her footing.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
Lambert stopped walking, something behind him catching his attention. It was the sound of footsteps upon the mossy ground, heavy boots against the mud. There was another heartbeat that didn’t belong in the forest, steadily beating.
The witcher looked over his shoulder just in time to see something hurling through the air in his direction. He ducked behind a tree as an arrow ripped through the space where he had just been.
Rosalia had heard Lambert stop and turned to see what he was up to. She wasn’t as quick as the wolf. By the time she realized what the object was, it was already hitting her shoulder.
She stumbled back, the force of the arrow hitting her body causing her to lose her balance. The stinging pain that erupted from the wound took Rosalia’s breath, her heart beginning to race. Red seeped from the wound, staining her gray shirt.
Her eyes widened, panicked like an animal caught in a trap. Eyes flighted over the woods, briefly flickering over Lambert before she spotted the man moving towards her. She didn’t recognize his face but she knew she didn’t want to stay there to figure out who he was.
Lambert watched as she snapped the end of the arrow off, leaving the tip of it still deeply embedded in her shoulder. Her heart was racing wildly and he could smell the adrenaline seeping into her veins.
She darted off into the woods, never once looking back.
Lambert watched her disappear from sight, carefully drawing his sword. His ears could pick up the sound of the stranger nearing him. Just as the man was passing the tree Lambert took refuge behind, the witcher decapitated him with one clean swing of his sword. The head rolled beneath a bush not too far away and the body collapsed.
The witcher used the man’s shirt to wipe the blood from his blade. He patted the man’s pockets, searching for anything that may tell him who this man was.
In a breast pocket on the man’s jerkin was a folded up piece of parchment paper. The ink had been smudged from rain or sweat - Lambert didn’t care to know. The only thing that was legible was Haldana Dielke’s name at the bottom of the paper.
Still unsure, the witcher dug around a little more in the man’s pockets until he found a sachet of coins. The cloth sachet had the Dielke’s family crest on it, an Escutcheon shield separated into four white triangles with a bright blue X across the shield. Two of the triangles had horses in it while the other two had lilies.
Lambert stood up, tucking the sachet of coin into his pocket.
Haldana Dielke hired this man to do the same thing she had hired the witcher for.
A low growl vibrated in the back of his throat as he looked in the direction Rosalia had disappeared in.
Man, today was a shitshow.
It started with getting nearly run over THREE times by drivers turning left on my way to world. Then the rest of the day was filled with irritating coworkers not doing their jobs and preventing me from being able to deliver fully on doing mine, general incompetence, irritating visitors (I work in a museum), poopy weather, and I’m probably PMS-y. Instead of coming over weepy or just vaguely irritated, today was pretty much full-on this all day:
This got rambly, but read on, if you like...
I literally can’t even count how many times I’ve said the word “fuck” today, both out loud and just in my head or to myself. It’s in the thousands. There was a point when I was in an enclosed elevator alcove and jumping up and down and screaming silently in pure frustration. At other times, the rage would subside into general apathy (idly checking my phone (which I’m not even supposed to have with me on the floor)) and wholly ignoring the visitors altogether, etc), but eventually the bloody day finally ended. I usually fast every other day, including most Saturdays, but today I decided that the (mentally) healthier choice would be to end my fast early in favour of buying a grocery store rotisserie chicken and a bottle of shiraz and promised myself that I would take it good and easy this evening. I still resent having to work on Saturdays, though I’ve had to since July. Like, this isn’t new, but I still hate it. My “weekend” is Sunday/Monday, though I work on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings, so... yeah. That’s my life these days.
I also had a full-on John Watson-level rage at the self-service check-out machine, which refused to scan half my items, and many more fucks were said to the hapless attendant-man who came to do battle on my behalf, which also made me angry. Lol. I hate it when men help me... but he also had the admin password, so there’s that.
Anyway, I finally bore my chicken and wine home, made a batch of my own coleslaw (side note: I’ve always hated coleslaw, until I just reinvented the recipe myself and now I love it. But only mine. Lol!) So I finished rewatching Batman Begins, which I had forgotten I’d started watching like 5 weeks ago. Somehow I ended up getting manic-productive once I ate dinner. I’ve been so bloody busy that I actually had to go and buy more underwear the other night after choir because the laundry room in my awful building shuts down at 9pm and I’ve had stuff every evening for the last two weeks. So tonight I finally managed to do laundry (which is on the 2nd floor, and I live on the 17th, which means going down there once to put it in, once to transfer it, and then once to collect it), and then I just sort of... kept going, lol. I did the dishes, cleaned the stove, somehow ended up cleaning the kitchen walls, cabinets, the inside of the cupboard under the sink where the garbage goes, took out the trash (easy; it’s on the same floor), went all the way downstairs and out to the super sketchy parking garage where the recycling bins are to take out my overflowing recycling, then decided to clean the bathroom, vacuum the entire apartment, dust all the tables, finally dispose of my dead geranium, and... yeah, it was a bit manic. And that was on two glasses of shiraz, too! Maybe a bit not good, but what can you do.... I also recharged my laundry card, sent an angry email to the scammers who sold me the wrong product and refuse to reimburse me or send the right one, sent some other emails, and finally sat down and answered some fic comments.
I’ve been sick for the past week and a half, and I finally realized yesterday that I’ve also been experiencing a UTI which is probably why I’ve had a bit of a fever and felt so shitty in general. I didn’t have time to get to a doctor, so I self-medicated that one with cranberry extract (bought on the same trip as the new underwear, lol) and lots of water, some probiotics, and hoping for the best. It’s already much better, but that’s been another reason to take it a bit easy. I normally work out almost every day, but have only been to the gym (which is in my shitty building and one of the only reasons why I re-signed my current lease) twice this week. I mean, I also clock over 10 km of walking every day I’m at the museum, but still. Anyway, I’m fully rambling at this point, and that’s fine. It is what it is and all.
I just also wanted to say that I’m currently in the stage of pre-plotting my next fic. Pre-plotting, as I dub it, is essentially me making some important strategic decisions about how I want the fic to go in general - major plot points, overall arc, POV, etc. Once I’ve decided that, then I can start plotting, which is also a strictly mental process (no writing), and then once that’s basically good to go, I start writing. That said, I’ve also already written what’s essentially the prologue scene, the first 2,200 words. I wrote it before I wrote The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, then decided that, coming hard on the heels of Rebuilding Rome, it was too dark and I wanted to write something a bit lighter for a change of pace, which was this past story. So now I’m back to the dark one, and it will be a bit of a dark one. I don’t want to give too much away, but it starts with Mycroft grimly rewatching the footage of John beating Sherlock in the morgue at Culverton Smith’s hospital for about the 60th time. The story won’t be exclusively in his POV - it may actually have up to three POV characters, including him. How long it will be, whether or not it gets divided into chapters, etc, is all still being worked out in the aforementioned pre-plotting stage. So that’s where that’s at. :)
Anyway, feel free to comment via the reply function, but if you wouldn’t mind not reblogging this, that would be great. <3
Welcome To Hell (II)
Part 2 : Demon In Black
Here comes a second part for this Logan fic! I hope you all like it :)
Demon! Logan is brilliant… I'm having so much fun with him!
Gif not mine
Word Count : 2231
"What the hell is happening around here?"
"Y/N, I can explain…"
"Oh, can you now?"
"Y/N, don't be angry."
"I can't believe you didn't warn me about this."
You put down the flowers in their basket, reorganizing the gerberas before passing to the lilies. Pink flowers next to orange ones.
You heaved a tired sigh. Of course, your best friend (and associate) would not tell you if your ex fiancé dropped by. Of course…
"You should have told me he was here!" you protested again.
"What would have been the use to that?" Ahlem replied with a shrug while she readjusted the red roses.
"To warn me? To just… tell me! He's my ex!"
"The man was a jerk, don't act like he wasn't."
"He wasn't just a jerk."
She heaved a sigh, shaking her head.
"This is ridiculous. He treated you so badly when the two of you broke up…"
"I did break his heart," you replied.
"This wedding would have been a catastrophe and you were right to put an end to it."
Ahlem check the time and headed back inside to officially open the flower shop for the day. She readjusted her hijab before helping you moving a rather large palm tree. Your palm tree. It wasn't for sail, you just adored the plant. You had planted it with you ex actually, and now that the memory came back to you, you looked at the tree with a perplex expression.
"Anyway, he's gone now, I sent him away. And that's for the best."
"What did he even want? Did he tell you?"
You noticed immediately the nervous way she tugged at her apron, although Ahlem shook her head in denial.
"Ahlem…"
"What? He didn't say."
"You're lying!"
"I'm not lying!"
"Yes, you are!"
"I am not…"
"Pinocchio, your nose is showing!"
She rolled her eyes, but didn't dare to deny the truth again. Instead, she remained silent. You heaved a frustrated sigh.
"Why won't you tell me?"
"Because there's no need to make you sad," she earnestly answered, and you couldn't manage to be mad at her anymore.
So instead of insisting, you patted her shoulder.
"Next time, do tell me he was here, okay?"
She nodded, and you exchanged a smiled. After all, she just wanted to protect you. The same way you would have protected her. But the news of your ex being back in town was not exactly what you would have defined as a good way to start the day.
The young morning was bathing San Francisco in light that still contained traces of the golden glimmer of dawn. The streets were already filled with people hurrying to work, cars honking and children shouting as they walked to school. Before you walked back into your shop, you took a couple of steps in the street, watching the sun shining on the bay. You were lucky to live in one of these streets from which you could see the water glimmering in the distance. These endless streets that looked like they would never stop climbing had at least this advantage of having a nice view. And the long road of Pierce Street was one of them. Across the street, Mrs. Princeton was giving water to her impressive collection of geraniums, that she had placed on the edges of her windows, decorating her large white house. You waved at the old lady as she appeared at a new window, and you could see the giggle on her lips as she waved back at you. You turned back towards the red brick walls of your shop, but were stopped by the sound of very loud laughs coming from your left, and you had to turn towards the source of such a noise.
Behind you, the Alta Plaza Park stretched its grass still shimmering from the morning dew. You recognized the two boys who were laughing as they ran down the few steps that separated the inside of the park and Jackson Street.
"Lorenzo! David! Be careful!" you admonished as they pushed each other playfully, still running down the stairs and jumping above the last step.
"Yes, Y/N!" they chanted, but didn't slow down.
"One day one of you will fall and I won't be the one to take you to the hospital for a broken arm!" you warned them, but they merely laughed at you.
They crossed the street to reach you and give you a hug. Every morning and every afternoon they passed before your shop on their way to school, their parents living on Clay Street, on the other side of the park. The two twelve-year-old boys were adorable. They often came to your shop after school and helped you out a little, or merely stole all the biscuits and chocolate that you kept in the drawer of your desk. After all, you were friends with their parents, and the four of them knew very well that if they wanted to find their boys, they merely had to cross the park and come to your shop.
"Be good today!" you went on in that same motherly tone.
"We're always good!" Lorenzo protested, and you playfully messed up his dark hair in response.
"Of course you're not! Little devils!"
"But that's why you love us," David replied with a cocky smile, and you couldn't refrain a bright laugh.
"That's quite true…" you admitted. "Now, off you go, or you'll be late to school."
"Have you received these new flowers you were expecting?" Lorenzo asked, ignoring your order.
"I have," you nodded with an excited smile. "This very morning. I'll show you this afternoon after school. Deal?"
"Cool!" the two children excitedly answered, before giving you a high five and running down the street.
"And be careful!" you admonished from afar, but they ignored you again.
Ahlem walked out of the shop, chuckling.
"Well… you know that you're not their mother, right?" she teased you, and you merely ordered her to shut up in response.
And she doubled with laughter.
You heaved a dramatic sigh, walking back in your shop filled with love and flowers.
This shop… you had dreamt about it since you were a child. And for six years it had been filling your life with happiness. It was your dream coming true.
A smile formed on your lips at the thought.
After all, your life was quite good indeed.
At least… for now…
---------------------------------------------------------------
"And then my grandson was looking for the spoons, and he was opening all the drawers in hurry like he was fulfilling an important mission… and all the while the cat was looking at the birthday cake and I was certain that the cake would not survive that bloody cat! But after finally finding a spoon, Paul turned back towards the cake, and he noticed the cat sitting on the edge of the table and staring at the food, and he looked at me with his big black eyes, you know… and with a very serious face he pointed at the cat and asked 'bad cat?'"
You and Mrs. Princeton laughed hard, and you heard Ahlem chuckling as well as she brought some tea for the three of you.
"In the end, I pushed the cat away, but for the rest of the evening, Paul kept on repeating 'bad cat' everytime he was coming near the table."
The old woman let out a loud wave of laughter and you soon joined her.
"He's adorable," you nodded before drinking a gulp of hot tea.
"He is, he is," she nodded with so much love eyes in her dark eyes.
The afternoon was stretching into a lazy sunny day. Around 3 pm there weren't so many customers for your shop, as usual. It would become busier as people would come home from work. You weren't complaining though. The calm allowed you to take a cup of tea with your neighbour every day. Her long, black fingers wrapped around the cup with a little shakiness in them that came with old age, but she was such a witty and kind woman, she didn't act like her age, that was for certain. And on many subjects, she had a benevolence and an open mind that some younger adults lacked these days. You felt so lucky to count her as your friend…
You were interrupted as the little bell above the front door of the flower shop rang, and you stood up in a hurry.
"Do you want me to deal with that client?" Ahlem kindly proposed, but you shook your head.
"Enjoy your tea, I'll be back in a sec."
You walked through the back room and to the main shop to attend to this new customer of yours. You discovered there, lost in the hibiscus section, a tall woman, blond, blue eyes, and extremely beautiful. You could only acknowledge that. A shame that she wore such a condescending expression on her attractive features.
"Hello," you welcomed her with a bright smile. "How can I help you?"
"Are you the owner of the shop? Y/N Y/L/N?"
You nodded in affirmation.
"Well, I was looking for you actually," she gave you a pinched smile. "I am going to get married in a couple of weeks, and I would need someone to take care of the flowers. You came as highly recommended."
"Congratulations!" you grinned. "Of course, I would be happy to help! Would you like to set an appointment so we can talk in detail about what you would like and what I can do for you? Or do you have the time now?"
"Oh, no, not now… I'm expected somewhere. But perhaps I could come back tomorrow? 2 pm?"
"Perfect, yes. I'm sure we can find something that will make you happy. Will your fiancé be attending too?"
"I will see with him if he is available."
"Well, I'll see you again tomorrow then… but if I may ask… who recommended my shop to you?"
"My fiancé, actually! He is… well acquainted with your business."
"Oh, really? You… you live in the neighbourhood?"
"He used to. And he was adamant at having you taking care of the floral arrangements."
"For how long have you two been together?"
"Two months… I know, it's not so much time, but… when you know, you know."
"It's beautiful, actually! You must really love each other a lot."
"We do."
She checked her very expensive watch and gave you another one of her blank smiles.
"I have to go, but I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yes, have a great day."
The blond woman walked out of the shop and into the street. The bright California sun was so hot on her skin. She put on her Ray Ban sunglasses, and walked with an energetic pace towards the tiny park on her right. She climbed up the few steps to enter the space filled with grass and trees. She ignored the children laughing and the couples kissing. Instead, she headed straight for a bench where a man all dressed in black was sitting.
Logan welcomed his colleague with a smile.
"So?" he asked with a toothy smile.
"Tomorrow, 2 pm," Natasha answered with a content smile as she sat down by Logan's side.
"Brilliant."
"You were right about her… she is… disgustingly kind."
"Isn't she?"
"That's a challenge to make her turn."
"I love challenges. And my plan is brilliant, it'll work."
Of course, it would work. After a month spent studying you and your habits, he knew exactly how to destroy your world in such a way that you would sign anything to get it all back. After a month watching you, he had developed his plan. He had needed two more months to allow Natasha to seduce the pawn that would be used for his first move against you. And now, after three months of hard work, everything was finally ready. And he couldn't wait to win this battle.
"She asked me who had recommended her shop," Natasha chuckled with a cruel tone in her voice.
"You didn't tell her, did you?" Logan frowned.
"Of course not. I mean, I merely told her that my fiancé knew her shop. I can't wait to be tomorrow to see the look on her face when her ex passes through that door with me."
"I'm glad to see that you enjoy your role in this game of mine."
"Simon is a beautiful man, how could I not enjoy it? Breaking the hearts of attractive men… there's no more delightful activity after all."
"Poor thing…"
They both laughed.
"After tomorrow, she'll be broken-hearted," Logan smiled. "And she will need a knight in shining armour."
"Or well, in your case… a demon in black," Natasha chuckled.
"Indeed. And once I'm in… it'll all be done quickly."
"I hope so. If you fail this mission, your neck might be in danger."
"I've never failed."
"I would miss you if Joshua was forced to break your skull."
"Me? Really?" Logan raised a surprised eyebrow.
"Well, when I say you, I mean sex with you, obviously."
"Now, that sounds more like the Natasha that I know: ruthless, heartless and always ready to have a great time."
"I can't wait to see her little bubble of happiness explode. So much good makes me sick."
Logan let a smile form on his lips as he leaned against the back of the bench, turning his face towards the warm sun, and closing his eyes behind his dark sunglasses.
"Oh, don't worry. The bubble will explode indeed…"
The Siren Song Elixirs 2018 Halloween Collection is Live!
Perfumes are available here
Wax Melts are available here
Halloween is the best best time of year, especially for those seeking the darker, spookier, things that go bump in the night. I'm in love with the 2018 Halloween collection, tested it on friends and family, and I'm passing on the best fragrances to share with you.
Tip: Start at the top of the list for the softer, more ethereal fragrances beginning with Cemetery Gates, and continue down the list to explore the darker, more haunting fragrances ending with the boldest and most complex Coven. Enjoy!
Available fragrances:
1. CEMETERY GATES: Enter the land of the dead, pushing past cold, damp gates into a mist laden grove where ancient headstones seem to glow in the moonlight. The sweet, subtle smell of flowers, tall pines, dense lichen, and ferns lingers amongst the cleansing veil of rain. Enjoy your stay but be careful...there's always room for one more.
Key notes: Misty rain, old metal, damp ferns, rose, ylang, pine, sweet decay
2. THE EMPTY GRAVE: An empty grave stands alone, it's occupant gone. The smell of fresh dirt in the air, they could not have been gone long! The fragrance of newly dug up wet grass and oak moss mingles with the remains of a busted rosewood coffin that still lies within and the faint trail of sweet decay that lingers from below! Weeping willows, faded roses, and distant sweet lilac are reminders that life still dwells here...and a deep sigh at your shoulder sends a cold shudder, reminding you that you are not alone next to this open grave.
Key notes: fresh dirt, wet grass, oak moss, weeping willow, rosewood coffin, pink lilac, rose, ylang, sweet decay
3. HAUNTED HOUSE: Creaky floor boards, flickering lights, footsteps from the room above, old flame marks licking upon the walls, and an abandoned flower garden herald the signs that you are in a haunted home where only souls maintain residence. Tread lightly, you are in their world now.
Key notes: old dusty wood, orange blossom, gardenia, geranium, bergamot, oak moss, rosemary, ethereal musk
4. PENNYWISE: We all float down here....Follow Georgie into the haunted rain gutters, see the Dancing Clown, smell the cotton candy and funnel cakes, but don't look too closely lest you see the Dead Lights!
Key notes: Rain gutters, Abandoned carnival, Candy
5. POISONED APPLE: Snow White never knew what hit her when she took the first bite of the poisoned apple, and the Evil Queen never misses her mark. Don't imbibe this poisonous concoction but trust that one whiff of this heady mixture will place others under your spell!
Key notes: sweet apple, black amber, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, black pepper, vanilla, mandarin, labdanum, saffron, oriental musk, black musk
6. TRICK OR TREAT: The rush of candy, childish glee, and mischief in a grown-up concoction. Heady pumpkin spice latte is swirled with brown sugar and dark vanilla and caramel for a a smoky, sweet, and indulgent fragrance that will make more than vampires want to but to bite your neck!
Key notes: pumpkin spice latte, caramel, Madagascar vanilla, brown sugar
7. NEVERMORE: “Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!” I shrieked, upstarting— “Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore! Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken! Leave my loneliness unbroken!—quit the bust above my door! Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!” Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
Key notes: rich luxurious pumpkin, dark oud wood, cinnamon bark, clove, black tea, cannabis, patchouli, jasmine, toasted marshmallow
8. OUIJA: The spirit board and planchette can open doorways to the curious and to those who hope that a seance will open communication to their dear departed loved ones. But beware, this Ouija board has opened doors best left unopened and demons spill forth from within. Smoky notes of charred wood, the vanillin fragrance of ancient tomes and spellbooks, rich incense and labdanum swirl with dark amber, rich clove and fig, and the haunting, menacing words spilling forth from a rosewood planchette.
Key notes: ancient books, rosewood, fire embers and brimstone, amber, clove, fig, labdanum, incense, burnt candles
9. SALEM: Witches, Heresy, and Lies! Oh, my! Though no witches were burned in Salem, the fear of the devil and his fire and brimstone is an ever present fear amongst those who feared the bewitched. A darkness of fear, suspicion, and malice settled over Salem as the anxiety of evil possession made monsters of the people of the village who then hung their "witches" and crushed them with stones.
Key notes: Fire and brimstone, clove, black amber, black vines, sweet resin, old stones, damp earth
10. SANCTUARY: "Sanctuary! Sanctuary! Sanctuary!" cried the monks as the bells of the church tolled, calling in the faithful for protection from the evils outside. Plague, pestilence, murder, and monsters that stalked the night were forbidden entrance into the doors of the sanctuary. Comforting scents of amber and incense smoke, with the holy herbs of frankincense and myrrh, and the cleansing notes of soft, white flowers give succor to the terrified and lonely.
Key notes: Amber, incense, frankincense, myrrh, patchouli, smoke, dried jasmine
11. GRIM REAPER: The Grim Reaper is a dark figure that many fear, cloaked in black with skeletal hands and a bloody scythe which he uses to cut down helpless souls. But legend has it that the Grim Reaper was based upon the Angel of Death, a figure said to be so beautiful that dying souls instantly fell in love with it and willingly took it's hand to be led into the afterlife. This Angel of Death is honored with fragrances of rare black orchids, icy black ozone, black amber, black truffle and sweet black currant. Delicate floral notes of lotus and lavender herald a reminder of the eternity of the soul and the healing renewal of life and death.
Key notes: Black orchids, black truffle, lotus, black currant, balsam, vetiver, dark ozone, black amber, labdanum, lavender)
12. VOODOO: Dark, complex, earthy, and intensely lush...Voodoo pays homage to the art and craft of the voodoo Queen Marie Laveau and that ancient spiritualism that draws upon the powers of the earth for strength. Rich flavors of bay, tobacco, rum and whiskey are tempered with earthy notes of vetiver, leather, dirt, sage, coriander, and dark coffee to create a fragrance that is earthy, powerful, and carnal.
Key notes: bay leaf, rum, whiskey, coffee, tobacco, black vanilla, vetiver, leather, dirt, coriander, sage
13. COVEN: The old ways are practiced in the dark of night, beneath an orange harvest moon. No ordinary coven, these witches practice the dark ways, far away from prying eyes. Heady spices of frankincense, myrrh, and cardamom are mixed with the burnt offerings of tobacco and smoky black tea, sending their spells into the four winds. The fragrance of rich osmanthus, dark red pomegranate, earthy rosewood, and the fragrance of ancient old tomes and spellbooks passed from generation to generation linger in the night air beneath the chants of old words. The most complex fragrance, Coven is not recommended for the faint of heart or mind lest you fall under it's spell.
Key notes: black tea, cardamom, osmanthus, red pomegranate, frankincense, myrrh, rosewood, tobacco, old tomes
how are you? how's everything going?
what are were your favourite flowers?
*here's a hug* 🧡
hope everything is going as wonderful as you are!!
Myle!! I'm good. I have now seen the first 2 Indiana Jones films and am in possession of a cheap badminton set😏 Also I'm giving you a hug back😘😘
These are all my favourite flowers because there's loads where I live so I don't get sad thinking about how I might never see them in person, and because I can identify them and I love being a know-it-all
So here they are in no particular order:
and now here they are again but this time names and in a particular order (the order that I've put their pictures in) and under the cut because I like to talk:
Daisies - you can make daisies chains with them and seeing the big ones always makes me happy because I love it when things get big even though big is kinda like their default size. Also the ones that have a bit of pink on their tips? beautiful
Foxglove - a little bit poisonous but it's got a sexy name and a fun look. looks like a little hat an elf would wear on an important day
Bluebells the ones pictured are English bluebells which you can tell because the flowers are on one side making it droop down; if the flowers are more evenly didstrabuted around the stem so that it doesn't droop over then they're Spanish bluebells (they might have different colloquial terms in other countries that aren't England though) - once again a great name and they look like a little magic dude would wear them. also reminds me of a book I had wear the characters were illustrated with flower based clothes and one of them had a blue look with a bluebell hat
Hydrangeas - tbh animal crossing - pocket camp is the reason I love them so much because they had a bunch of hydrangea themed and also they're pretty but taht goes for every flower
Lavander - I love the smell and I've got a massive lavender Bush in my garden
Roses - the petals feel really nice and soft and I love all the rose metaphors or whatever the fuck they are that people right about them Also I have some of these that grow in my garden
Forget-me-nots - it's mainly because I really like their name
Crane's-bill - I'm pretty sure they're geraniums and the one pictured is a bloody cranesbill. I also I like the meadow cranesbill which are purple - they're just pretty and I see a bunch when I go on walks
Sunflowers - they're just so tall that it's hard not to be amazed by them and also cool name (it has the word 'sun' in it that's V. sexy) ALSO I like the painting by Vincent and have a knock-off painting in my hallway that one of my grandma's friends did
Special mention to Vrieseas because I'm not sure when plants become flowers so idk if it counts but it does flower. there's other colours but I used to have one that looked like this
Q. Where can I buy “eye of newt?”
A. Please don't!
This is not black magic and there is no need to abuse poor little newts. This is simply ancient witch code for Mustard seeds.
Back in the middle ages most witches made their livings selling healing products that actually worked. To prevent non-witches from discovering their secrets they developed a code for their Grimoires that would prevent people from learning what was really being used. It also added an air of mystery. Ask yourself what sounds more witchy.
“What's this ointment made from”
“Crows Feet collected under a full moon my dear”
Or
“It’s Geranium”
William Shakespeare immortalised the code in his plays and our potions contents are now the stuff of legends. If you wish to bring back this tradition or are simply trying to unravel an old spell hit more for a good list and their true meanings. Why not buy a UV pen and make your own list in the back of your book, adding in some more modern herbs and flowers.
2) least favorite fic you wrote this year
Between a Bridge and an Ocean (Yuri On Ice, G-rated, Phichit centric) idk it could have just been expanded and doesn’t really DO anything
3) favorite line/scene you wrote this year
I have 7 whole pages of fanfic on ao3 oh my god what am i doing
im picking a couple
Jason’s polo is heinously white, just like his privilege.
Death does not come on swift wings. Lucille will deny it any peculiar sweetness or heavenly, exquisite radiance.Death does not come at all, except in a soft, murmurous breath, trembling, slow.
The high feels like a storm-fire cresting and ebbing in Nick’s veins, mingling with adrenaline. He’s more fucked up than what’s probably good for him, but who cares—we’re all gonna die anyway.
“Here’s how I see it,” Bronn says, a little more cheerfully. “If fucking doesn’t agree with me, I get your pretty little sword on your hip and I get to name it Cunt-Rider or whatever else suits me.”
He vividly imagines her just like this, sitting upon a high-back, weirwood throne back in Winterfall, in a great, lone hall covered in marble and glittering glass and dusty, old arras. Steel and hoarfrost would be her brow — a crown of pointed daggers, tall as a forefinger. Quick-sharp as Arya’s temper could be, and brilliantly embossed in plated silver as House Stark’s sigil. Her love would be infinite and treacherous […]
He dreamed of Pennywise’s hallucination for a whole week, for a month — the crimson, hot blood pouring out of Eddie’s mouth, pooling onto the floorboards while Richie listened, panicked and frozen, to the sounds of his friend choking.
Summer feels tangible like this — a warm, scented breeze hitting Jonathan’s cheeks and his lips. No monsters. No screams or bloody hands, no terrors forming out of the pitch-darkness. There’s honey-colored marigolds painted beneath Nancy’s eyes and bluebells dangling out of Steve’s left pocket. They speed on their bicycles past the pale pink fence-lattices choked with geraniums and weeds, out of town and its roaring Founders Day Festival, into an acre of knee-high, scarlet meadow flowers.
Once she’s vanished, a grinning Richie nudges him.
“Can I get a kiss too, Eds?”
“Sure, you can kiss my ass,” Eddie snaps, crooking his leg backwards, upwards, and kicking the seat of Richie’s jeans.
A ring tailed possum has taken up residence in a corner of my deck behind the air con unit. Is there anything I can do to welcome the New Friend to my house? Should I leave an ice cream bucket full of water for it? Or fruit? Or something
Hurray for New Friend!
Definitely a ringtail? Does he look like the left or right? Left is a brushie, right is a ringie. Both have pretty dexterous tails that can wrap around things and “ring” up (the ringie’s is just that little bit more prehensile).
Cat-like ears, cat-sized, black or grey-tailed, makes demon noises = brushtail
Small round ears, kitten-sized, 1/3 of tail white, pretty quiet = ringtail
I ask because ringtails tend to build their own nests, called dreys, out of sticks and spit. They do sometimes take advantage of pre-made areas, but usually they’re very drey-looking things, such as plant hangers
I also ask because if you have one ringie, you probably have more. They’re quite a bit more social than brushies.
Neither of them need much water. You can put some out but they’ll probably ignore it. Aussie animals are kickass at water efficiency.
If you have a ringtail, I wouldn’t worry too much about fruits. They’ve got much more sensitive stomachs than brushies and don’t really eat fruit; it can actually be quite dangerous for them. You’d have best luck with things like wattle, geraniums or fresh leaf tips.
If it’s a brushie - well, that’s different. The bloody things will just about eat whatever fits in their mouth. Apple, banana, kiwi fruit, watermelon, grapes, sultanas, sweet potato, peaches, berries, and SMALL amounts of citrus (I stick to a maximum of ¼ orange per week) will go down quite well. You can also get creative with nuts, seeds, eggs, mince, honey (they LOVE it), coconut water (soak the fruits in it) and, if you’re feeling gross, insects and general buggy things.
I’ve found that most brushies don’t like pear or cucumber, for whatever reason.
Foods to avoid for both include broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, dairy products, and of course chocolates and other sweets. I also steer clear of breads, as carbohydrates aren’t a huge part of their natural diet.
Important to remember: these, at a maximum, are treats. If you’re happy to have Possum Friend around, that’s great news. But overfeeding will cause that possum to reduce their territory, leading to overpopulations. And an overpopulation of any animal comes with a host of issues, not the least of which includes things like disease outbreak and malnutrition.
Just to, y’know, end on a cheery note.
The next morning, I spent time with our feline friends to have your cat has his or her area from getting any common cat poisons that can change with a yard spray.For carpeting, a medium or low plush is preferable to have quite a bit deeper.So, as you approach the problem yourself, you should consider whether your cat from reaching them.You may not like the looks and the problem will be seeing results but you have guests and he loved playing with your cat is a kitten home, brings a reward system, and won't connect the two of which lay their eggs in the home, have you ever wondered if your cat get upset when we train the cat with the hair within an inch of water to drink.This is a method of destroying the flea eggs and larva inside your house.
For this cat, you must be on hand at your house?Take care cat fleas, many products available for each of the neck; the mixture in a corner they like to sharpen their claws.Get a spray bottle - Your cat will get use to lure the cat was very tired and not some obscure place in particular will remove his smell.This may take two to five applications over as many as three or more of the behavior of your expensive dining table, or your cat, it will naturally calm down.It is especially true if your cat has developed.
As most owners know, feline are very independent when they are much easier to climb and hide out of your cat's claws and replaced every month.Obviously this potty system doesn't work very well.Your cat's veterinarian can provide comfort, companionship, even entertainment.Two male cats hanging around because they wanted them to see the solution could simply be getting a cat you want to train your cat.For instance, if you get a spicy surprise.
Use some cool water to drink, it helps them having a bell to alert visitors your catTo wet the coat, just sufficient to feed on a wallet.But even if they are but then you can always make that visit to your cat.Although they are jealous of your cat sick.There are some of these felines do not like the texture of carpet that's at least every 3 days before travelling, you can not get too close and the reason why cat trees or cat once a cat to adjust to each other.
There are many training techniques that would be shocked when others would talk of their allergy symptoms. Do not forget that all attempts are futile, then most likely like the smell so difficult to get rid of.These two combinations will undoubtedly cause a lot of the mountain over your living room sofa and it is you have when relieving themselves, particularly whenever they have their cats start to build up to unacceptable levels and it takes for a young age will also keep them entertained and to remove cat urine in the open or making use of the litter and scoops are vital.You then need to provide each cat has tried to stroke a particularly sensitive area such as the body but there is no system of medicine.Whole male or female cats is to hide symptoms of cat litter and natural alternatives out there.
Can A Female Cat Spray After Being Neutered
They will find it unpleasant and react to Catnip then here are is a definite plus.Supposedly, hydrogen peroxide and water dish, a separate compartment for easier disposal.Your post-op infertile cat should not assume that your cat and what side effects are minimal.Duplicate this method is by placing obstacles where the potential for other animals potentially invading their territory.Adult cats with food that will just do not like to share their own room for a few of the toilet.
Here are some cats that biting is not medical then it should.Why cats decide on appropriate treatment, you need is about 1 month.There are many brands and types of bad behavior more and more cats.If you have an annual dental visits I would give the best cat repellent to the box.There are few things you can over-use it.
🌕 Moonbeam Ward 🌕
With the rise of the full moon this evening, I feel as though it’s a perfect time to cleanse and ward your space.
Ingredients & items:
· Visualization
· Basic knowledge of shielding and energy work
· Lemon essential oil or lemon peels
Instructions:
1. At sunset, or when the moon is visible in the sky, begin by cleansing your space using either lemon essential oil or lemon peels (lemon corresponds with both cleansing and lunar energy) - you can use these in whatever manner you choose, but some ideas include steam cleansing, crafting a spray to use in your home, making a floor wash, etc.
2. Once you feel as though your space is sufficiently cleansed, it’s time to put up a fresh ward - you may do this next part inside or outside so long as you can see the moon.
3. Visualize a moonbeam shining down onto your home, engulfing it in a ball of light, thus providing a shield to repel negative energy (you can use your hands or a wand to physically direct lunar energy down from the moon and onto your home if that helps).
4. Meditate on your intent as you do this, which is to prevent the entrance of negative or unwanted energy into your space.
5. When finished, seal the shield at the top of the ball of moonlight, sending any unused energy back into the cosmos.
6. Renew this shield during each full moon.
Lunar Eclipse Water 🌕🌞
Lunar Eclipse water can be used for matters involving illumination, revealing secrets, unveiling hidden knowledge, healing, protection, and divination.
· Clean, clear container
· Water (the source doesn’t matter)
· Optional: a sigil or statement of intent written on paper
Instructions:
1. On the day of the lunar eclipse (August 7th), fill your container with water and set outside or in your windowsill before the peak of the eclipse (the time will depend on your location)
2. Program the jar to absorb energy from the eclipse - you can use visualization to accomplish this, or set the jar on top of the sigil/statement I mentioned above
3. Remove the jar before the eclipse ends and store in a cool, dark place
Note: this eclipse will only be visible to those who reside in Australia, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Magickal Folk Names for Herbs
Having knowledge of herbs and plants (either magically or medicinally) during the Middle Ages, often was reason enough to accuse a woman of being a “witch,” so there is no doubt some of the country folk at the time took these herbal folk names literal. Chances are, these names were used merely as descriptors to help remember them easier. Most plants were given names descriptive of their uses and others were given names for something they generally resembled. Spells written by witches in ancient times were often written with such descriptors, which personally i believe to be a form of secret coding.
Here is a small list of “witchy” herb names (most of these are already floating around the community) that you can use in your craft when you create your spells. This list could be a great addition to any Grimoire and i hope you find them as useful as i do.
Enjoy ~~~ Cannawitch
☀️ magickal tips for the august 21st eclipse 🌑
on august 21st, during the new moon in leo, the moon will pass in front of the sun in a total solar eclipse. with three planets in leo and five planets total in fire signs, this is a great time to cast spells that deal with power, authority, creativity, justice, starting new projects, and personal empowerment.
to fully utilize the energy of this eclipse, i would highly recommend timing your spell to occur during the exact moment of the eclipse. in my opinion, it doesn’t matter if you can see the eclipse or not. those of us who practice cosmic witchcraft draw from the energy of the stars often, and light pollution prevents us from fully viewing the night sky. in this instance, timing is far more important than location.
planetary placements:
· ☉ ♌ (sun in leo)
· ☽ ♌ (moon in leo)
· ☿ ♍ (mercury in virgo)
· ♀ ♋ (venus in cancer)
· ♂ ♌ (mars in leo)
· ♃ ♎ (jupiter in libra)
· ♄ ♐ (saturn in sagittarius)
· ♅ ♈ (uranus in aries)
· ♆ ♓ (neptune in pisces)
· ♇ ♑ (pluto in capricorn)
aspects:
· sun conjunct moon
· sun/moon trine saturn & uranus
· sun/moon conjunct mars
· mercury oppose neptune
· venus square jupiter, quincunx saturn, square uranus, oppose pluto
· mars sextile jupiter, trine saturn/uranus, quincunx pluto
· jupiter sextile saturn, semisquare neptune, square pluto
· saturn trine uranus, square neptune
· neptune sextile Pluto
spellcasting tips:
· eclipses are all about balance, and the placements of this eclipse are all about balancing fiery energy with the rest of our solar system’s major cosmic players. (see more on eclipses and balance here.)
· the moon is dimming the light of the sun, but this powerful event is taking place in the sun’s sign leo. further empowered by a near conjunction with mars, and two trines by this fiery trio to saturn and uranus, these planets are in excellent alignment to help you chase your ambitions in a measured, balanced way. exercise the caution and discipline of saturn and utilize uranus’s intuition and creativity.
· be sure to consider the planets that are not currently in a fire sign to emulate the balance of the eclipse, particularly jupiter, which is the only planet in an air sign. i would suggest deliberately incorporating tools or representations for air to ensure your spell isn’t lacking in the element’s positive qualities.
· if you won’t be able to sit down and take some time to cast your spell during the eclipse, you can prepare your spell beforehand and leave things to charge until a predetermined time during the eclipse. set aside five minutes to cast your spell, in whichever way you choose, from wherever you are during the hours of the eclipse.
o from work, you could draw a sigil that will activate a spell jar at home.
o sit down at your desk or in the break room and visualize the eclipse from space, seeing the moon’s shadow upon the earth, envisioning the fused solar and lunar energy filling you to the brim with power.
o create a sachet, spell jar, necklace, or some other magical object and leave it outside to charge in during the hours of the eclipse.
☀️ eclipse magick 🌕
An eclipse takes place when one celestial body passes in front of another, obstructing the light we can see from it here on Earth. Since eclipses always take place during the most powerful phases of the lunar cycle, eclipses are great times for extra powerful spells! To find out when you’ll next be able to view an eclipse, take a look at this website.
Solar Eclipses take place during the New Moon.
· A partial solar eclipse takes place when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are not quite perfectly aligned, and the Moon only covers a portion of the Sun.
· A total solar eclipse takes place when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are perfectly aligned, and the Moon passes right through the Sun’s center, creating a bright ring of visible sunlight.
· Intents: destroy the things that are holding you back, starting something new, healing, drawing something to you, shadow work, balancing the conscious mind and unconscious
· Ideas for extra powerful spells: Take note of the planetary placements and see if there are any other planets conjunct/aspect with the Sun and the Moon. Draw on those energies as well! Use as much planetary energy as possible to give power to your new beginning.
· Tips for Safe Viewing:
o NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT A SOLAR ECLIPSE. EVER.
o View through a solar filter
o View through Welder’s goggles with a rating of 14 or higher
o Some telescope companies offer metal-coated filters that allow safe viewing of the Sun through a telescope
o Build your own pinhole projector
Lunar Eclipses take place during the Full Moon.
· A total lunar eclipse occurs when the entire Moon is covered by the darkest part of Earth’s shadow, its umbra.
· A partial lunar eclipse occurs when part of the Moon is covered by Earth’s umbra.
· A penumbral lunar eclipse takes place when the Moon travels through the faintest part of Earth’s shadow.
· Intents: healing, protection, finishing projects, illuminating the unknown, balance, manifestation, peace
· Ideas for extra powerful spells: Again, draw on the planetary placements - but since the Sun and the Moon are in opposition during a full moon, this time see which planets are conjunct/aspect with the Sun and the Moon individually. A lunar eclipse is a great way to balance opposing forces in your life and you can draw on the energies of other planets to help resolve the solar and lunar forces!
· Tips for Safe Viewing:
o Although it’s perfectly safe to view a lunar eclipse with the naked eye, please don’t trespass or venture into the wilderness alone.
Cosmic Witchcraft 101 🌠
lunaesteria:
One of the questions I find myself answering a lot is “how do I get into cosmic witchcraft?” Although @phaesphore has a really good guide (here), I thought I’d write out a few of my own suggestions.
Who:
· Who can be a cosmic witch?
o Anyone can be a cosmic witch! The main aspects of cosmic witchcraft include working with the various celestial bodies included in the cosmos, and harnessing energy from them depending upon your intent. If you feel drawn to the cosmos and the vastness of outer space, then cosmic witchcraft is definitely for you.
What & Why:
· Figure out what aspects of cosmic witchcraft that you are drawn to
o Is it your fascination with outer space? Is it the desire for a spiritual relationship with the cosmos? There are many reasons someone might be drawn to this practice, so do some digging and figure out yours.
· Which celestial bodies do you want to work with and why?
o This ranges from planets, to stars, to constellations, and various deep space objects. Each celestial body has its own set of correspondences and associations, some that may resonate more with you than others.
o Still at a loss? Complete your birth chart and figure out your dominant planet - birth charts show the alignment of the planets at the time of your birth. Each person has a dominant planet, which can be found in more detailed birth charts that you can complete online.
o To find your dominant planet, go to Astro.com > click “extended chart selection” on the right hand side > fill out the necessary information > choose “Pullen/Astrolog” > from the dropdown menu, select “simple chart delineation by Walter Pullen” > scroll about ½ or ¾ of the way down the page until you find a section that lists the percentages of the planets in your chart > the planet with the highest percentage would be considered your dominant planet.
· What kind of spells do you like to perform?
o Each celestial body has their own set of correspondences to choose from depending on your intent.
§ Planetary Associations
§ Celestial Body Correspondences
§ Asteroid, Comet, & Minor Planet Associations
o The types of spells you can perform when practicing cosmic witchcraft are endless.
§ Draw planetary symbols as sigils, or combine them to represent more than one intention
§ Using Planetary Symbols (an ask)
§ Make spell jars or sachets using ingredients that represent various planets or celestial bodies
§ Perform glamour magick using cosmic spell ingredients
§ Celestial Roll-On Perfume
§ Planetary Bath Salts
§ Planetary Shower Disks
§ Uranian Coffee Scrub
§ Solar Herbal Salve
§ Burn loose incense or herbs that represent the planets
§ Make powders that represent the planets to be used in spell jars, sachets, or to be sprinkled in a desired area
§ Planetary Powders
§ Charge water with celestial energy
§ Moon Water
§ Uses for Moon Water
§ Moon Water & Lunar Phases
§ Celestial Gem Elixir
§ Turn your charged water into a consumable potion
§ Star Potion
§ Moon Potion
· What kind of tools do you like to use?
o With Cosmic Witchcraft, you’re free to use whatever tools you like, as they all have some kind of association to the cosmos. This includes herbs, essential oils, and crystals, to name a few.
§ Planetary Botanical Blends
§ Planetary Fruit & Vegetable Blends
§ Zodiac Botanical Blends
§ Planetary Essential Oil Blends
§ Planets & Minerals/Crystals
§ Spell Casting - Time of Day
o Meteor Showers
§ Draconids
§ Orionids
§ Taurids
§ Leonids
§ Lyrids
Where:
· Cosmic witchcraft can be performed literally anywhere, whether it’s inside or outside. You don’t necessarily have to be outside under the night sky to successfully perform a cosmic spell or harness cosmic energy. If you choose to perform cosmic magick indoors, use some visual or auditory tools to help you out; i.e. spacey music, a picture of space on your computer, a space poster on the wall behind your altar, etc.
How:
· Actively practicing cosmic witchcraft encompasses more than just doing spells.
o Learn to harness the power of the cosmos to not only perform spells but also to charge, empower, and enchant objects
