DX Engineering Universal Copper Grounding Clamps are custom designed to provide a ground rod mounting solution for various types of lightning protectors commonly used for Amateur Radio. The “Z” design makes it easy to install and remove coaxial cable connectors. This ground rod clamp for surge protector mounting is ideal for permanent installations as well as for temporary installations, such as Field Day.
Additionally, a solid copper strap from the station grounding bus bar may also be sandwiched between the copper plates of this clamp and the ground rod (not shown).

The DXE-UCGC-Z can easily mount up to six lightning protectors. The photo shows two DX Engineering protectors and two PolyPhaser protectors installed on a DXE-UCGC-Z mounted to a 5/8 in. diameter ground rod. Other lightning protection products can also be mounted, such as the DXE-IS-RCT Control Line Protector and Alpha Delta Lightning Protectors.
The DXE-UCGC-Z Copper Grounding Clamp Features:
– Mounts up to six protectors onto one ground rod
– Fits common standard 5/8 in. through 3/4 in. diameter ground rods
– Made from 1/16 in. thick Copper Alloy 110 for maximum conductivity

– Stainless Steel hardware is included: Four 1/4 in.-20 x 3/4 in. long hex head bolts, eight 1/4 in. flat washers, four 1/4 in.-20 Nyloc hex nuts
– Using this copper clamp is faster and easier than building up the joint for an exothermic weld
An anti-seize compound such as JTL-12555 Jet Lube SS-30 Pure Copper Anti-Seize must be used on the threads to prevent galling or seizing of stainless steel hardware. All connections must be generously coated with a conductive joint compound to prevent moisture penetration and enhance conductivity such as JTL-12555 Jet Lube SS-30 Pure Copper Anti-Seize. DX Engineering’s DXE-CCK Copper Cleaning Kit also contains a small amount of the proper joint compound, brush and cleaning pad to properly prepare the copper surfaces.
Prior to attaching the lightning protectors, you may want to install the proper coaxial cable lines to the protectors and weather seal the PL-259 connectors using TES-2155 Temflex Rubber Sealing Tape with an overwrap of TES-06132 3M Super 33+ Vinyl Tape or TES-06143 3M Scotch Super 88 Premium Vinyl Tape. Also, the lightning protector bodies are not weatherproof and it is suggested to use a DX Engineering Weatherproofing Kits, to permanently cover the body of the protectors. Some users have also suggested covering the entire assembly with a plastic food container or plastic trash bin

Mass Acceleration Motorsports builds a Dodge Hellcat for the drag strip.
For some, the 770 hp found in the Dodge Hellcat isn’t enough, it’s just the beginning. Here’s how to bolt an extra 100hp to a Hellcat, on pump gas without nitrous.
Owner Keith Turner wanted to keep his daily driven Hellcat on the safe side, so his choices of upgrades matched his personal preferences. The current setup makes an additional 100 hp on the safe side, but there are ways to save some dough. This resulting setup granted him 767 hp at 6,430 rpm and 682 ft-lbs of torque at 4,170 rpm at the wheels, and a goal of a 10.5 E.T. (1/4-mile). The project cost $6,050 in parts (not including wheels and tires).
A stock Hellcat runs 11.7 seconds at 126 mph in the 1/4-mile. That’s in full street gear on a prepped track. Keith has taken his Hellcat almost a second faster, at 10.8 seconds best e.t., but expects to knock a few more tenths off that.
The project began by taking the Hellcat to Mass Acceleration Motorsports (MXA), in Denver, North Carolina, a late-model performance Mopar specialist.
The Build
The Dodge Hellcat factory boost rating is 10.5-11 pounds. Metco Motorsports Solutions offers seven pulley options for up to an additional 10 pounds of boost. Innovators West also offers a new balancer, which adds 2 pounds with a stock pulley, but can be multiplied with Metco Motorsport’s pulleys to offer even more combinations.
The pulley used on this project is a 2.85-inch pulley, which adds 3 to 3.5 pounds of boost and retails for $259.99. Add another $19.99 for the hex tool and $36.99 for the pin holding tool. According to Metco’s owner, Rick Bejarano, this is the most popular pulley, as it’s a basic bolt-on without any additional fueling.
“Less than half my customers actually need bigger injectors with the 2.85-inch pulley, but there’s really no downside to upgrading other than expense.” This particular pulley, according to Metco, will make an additional 60-90 hp with only the necessary PCM upgrade.
MXA also installed the Metco Idler Pulley kit, which retails for $259.99. It’s not a necessity, but according to Rick, “it’s a safety, durability and cosmetic upgrade.” Metco creates an idler that increases grip for the belt. “With boost and that much power, when things go wrong, they go wrong in a hurry.”
In order to install the new pulley, the blower snout must be removed first. Using a a vise to hold the assembly in place, MXA used the Pin Holding tool to grab the backside of the pulley, and then a large breaker bar with the Hex Tool inside the pulley and loosened the pulley (reverse threads).
The pulley is installed using six bolts onto a ring, so once you’ve installed the first one, you no longer need to pull off the snout when replacing it for another Metco pulley. Metco also offers a stock pulley. A replacement pulley-only of any other size is $139.99.
MXA also installed a set of Injector Dynamic 1340cc injectors, compared to the 600cc stock injectors. Rick said about half of the 2.85-inch pulley customers require additional fueling, but the next size up, 2.75, does recommend additional fueling.
“You can get away with stock injectors, but you start to push the limit. The injectors that are in there are a lot bigger and we have room to grow,” said owner of MXA, George Adapoe, known as G.
Keith ordered a new PCM from DiabloSport for $629.95, but DiabloSport will also flash of your own PCM for $200.
Tuning
MXA uses its own tuner, something you would need to buy to do this at home, or source a new shop. There’s a map that will get you close to the proper tuning, but MXA used its in-house dyno for final tuning.
“We’re looking at the fueling and timing about every 100 rpm. There are a lot of things in the fueling map that need to be tweaked,” said G. “Basically, every car is different, from air filter to exhaust, so we try to shoot for anything between 11.5-11.8 air fuel ratio.”
Safety
“My goal was to make a customer car that wouldn’t break,” said G. The additional safety work included a new thermostat to help cool the car more quickly now that the supercharger is working harder.”
Out back, the team added Mopar Performance 3:09:1 differential assembly, along with a Per4Mance Development differential brace keeps wheel hop to a minimum.
A Driveshaft Shop one-piece aluminum driveshaft cuts down on rotating mass, but it’s also a weak point on the Hellcat, especially when you add 17-inch drag radials. This Driveshaft Shop one-piece aluminum driveshaft is good for over 1,000 hp.
Results
The baseline run made 656 hp at 6,000 rpm and 634 ft-lbs of torque at 4,000 rpm. The final tuning made 767 hp at 6,430 rpm and 682 ft-lbs of torque at 4,170 rpm to the wheels. That’s a gain of 111 hp and 48 ft-lbs of torque. The power curve looks similar to stock, with a steady strong drive to redline. At the same peak rpm as stock, the engine now makes approximately 100 hp more. It only needs 400 more rpm for the additional 11 hp.
This is more than the estimate horsepower rating for the Metco pulley, “it shows that their tune is spot on,” said Rick.
The high expense of the project was also in preparation for future upgrades. Keith has little drag racing experience, so as he progresses, so will the Dodge. They plan to add another 50-100 hp before next year. They’re exploring the ideas of retuning for E85 or race gas and more boost.

After removing the throttle body, MXA unbolted the top of the supercharger housing as well as the front snout.
Here’s the Metco Motorsports 2.85-inch pulley, which according to the company, is the most popular and can be used with stock fueling. The additional tools are required when removing the stock pulley. The bar is designed to hold the pins at the rear of the snout, and hex tool slides inside the pulley.

MXA reinstalled the supercharger snout as well as the new JLT catch can and 180-degree thermostat.
Tresh coolant is added through MXA’s vacuum coolant filler.
The Hellcat also looks good with the addition of a pair of new Mickey Thompson 305/35/17 ET Street R Drag Radials and Race Star Industries 17 x 10.5 Recluse Black Chrome wheels.
Here’s the before and after pulls on the same MXA chassis dyno. Notice the shape of the new torque curve is steady but aggressive, shifting the power higher into the rpm range. However, if you note the numbers highlighted on the curves, the Hellcat, at the baseline-peak rpm, now makes 89 more lb-ft.
