Now that the dust has settled, the game has been out for a while now, and now I've played it, all I'll say is this.
I agree with the majority of fans. I did not like it. No hate if you liked it, just...no.
Please Deep Silver. Either remake the original 3 from top to bottom, or just let the Saints rest in peace.
The Saints Row reboot. I'm torn.
On one hand it's a reboot. This is what reboots do: they reinvent the series by keeping similar themes and narrative beats while changing certain aspects to attract new and old fans.
But on the other hand, I am getting some strong Agents of Mayhem vibes.
I'm an OG Saints Row fan. It was the first game I owned on the 360 after weeks of doing gardening work for my neighbours. I played it so much I bricked my console with a RROD two months after I bought it. Not to mention SR2 is one of my favourite RPGs of all time. Remember Carlos? Or the Shogo funeral scene? Or this?
If the reboot turns out good, I'll gladly eat my words and praise it. After all, all we saw today was a cinematic, can't judge it fully without some gameplay or plot. And please don't get me wrong, I WANT it to be good! The premise sounds great! But for now...I'm keeping expectations in check and taking this news with a huge grain of salt.
(And I swear if they leave out Gat or any other characters for DLC...)
#Saints Row#Saints Row Remake#just...the antagonists were horrible#there was no real plot#the whole millenial/genz fighting to clear off student debt and buy a toaster thing was dumb#it gave 'how do you do fellow kids' vibes the entire way#its was way worse than I imagined#it was worse than Agents of Mayhem. way way worse#it was like someone forced agents of mayhem and watch dogs 2 to make a babg and then tripled the cringe humour#oh! and the fucking FORCED RESPECT JOBS THAT I FUCKING LOATHE TO DO#theres more. and they made them somehow less fun#no hate if you enjoyed this game but this is by far the worst SR game#like buy 4 or Gat out of Hell over this game#sure theyre cashgrabs but at least their mechanics WORK. and their storylines make sense and have clear plotlines!#And their antagonist is set up and doesnt just drop out of nowhere!#the LAZIEST form of writing can be nailed down to 'just because' 'magic' and 'why not?'#jesus this game was the worst.#go play SR 1 and 2 for the love of god#3 is good but is 70% side missions. 4 is the same but got fun superpowers at least#agents of mayhem flopped. this flopped. DS just let it die.

Weakness || Bucky Barnes Imagine || Pt. 1
Note: I just had to jump in the Bucky Barnes train after watching TFATWS and with Sebastian looking like that it gave me much needed muse to get back into writing. So Here it is! I feel like this is fast paced but I'm already working on the second part. Let's see how this goes. This goes from Episode 3 and transitions to Episode 4 at the end so consider some spoilers? As always, let me know your thoughts and I'm open to ideas!
Disclaimer: Gif not mine.
The idea of going to see Zemo to get any leads wasn't something you were particularly fond of when Bucky decided to go in there by himself. Yes, you trusted the soldier, but it was Zemo who you didn't trust. He was responsible for the break up of the Avengers. If it wouldn't have been for those events you would have all been together to defeat Thanos.
Your combat skills were what gave you the spot in the Avengers. You didn't have a serum, or superpowers, no tech to give you advantage, you were just really good with guns, strategies and tactics, learned to think outside the box.
You know everything is about to go to hell when Bucky takes you and Sam to a warehouse filled with cars and starts talking about breaking Zemo out of jail.
"Do you remember what that man did to all of us? To you? To T'Chaka?" You ask between Bucky and Sam who were looking at each other, that was until the squeak of the warehouse house doors interrupted. The three of you turn to look as a shadow got closer until…
"What the hell?! You said it was hypothetical! What is he doing out, Barnes!?" You snarl and take two quick steps towards Zemo.
"We need him, Y/N!" Bucky blocks your path.
"You are going back to prison!" Sam shouts, Bucky putting his hand on Sam's chest.
"If I may…"
"No!" The three of you shout, looking at Zemo before turning to each other.
"It's the only way! We can't do this alone!" Bucky states. "When Steve refused to sign the Sokovia Accords, you two backed him. You broke the law and stuck your neck out for me… I'm asking you to do it again."
"This is different! It was to protect you from him but now you are asking us to work with his ass after everything?" You question. You would do it in a heart beat because he was asking for it, but the thought of being crossed by someone like Zemo was what had you on edge.
Sam only sighed and you knew, yet again, he would go through with Bucky's plan. "Okay. If we do this, you won't make a move without our permission…" Sam says and your eyes close as you let out a huff.
You are all walking down the bridge once you get escorted to the city of Madripoor, Low Town specifically. "You need to stay in character, no matter what happens" Zemo says.
"The assistant, shouldn't be that hard" you say with a roll of your eyes.
"Anyone would love such role, Y/N. I would prefer if your dislike didn't show when we get there" he says. "It is the only way to explain why we brought a lady along to such dangerous business."
"I'm perfectly capable of looking after myself, but thanks for your concern. That's sweet coming from someone like you" you say and you can spot Zemo smiling from your spot behind him.
"You okay?" Bucky asks once he falls behind you, looking at the surroundings and taking everything in.
"I'm not thrilled about this, but I guess we have no choice" you say as you look around, then your eyes fall on his frame. "What about you?"
"I don't know anymore…" he says before you all get inside the club.
Everyone fell silent when Bucky walked in, watching him, wondering if it really was the Winter Soldier. You have never been in the same space with Bucky in public, so the whispers and the looks had you feeling a kind of way, almost defensive, but you had to keep your role and give smiles to strangers while you walked with Zemo with your arms linked. You look around the place, leaning against the counter, hiding back a smirk as Sam drinks whatever the hell they just put in on his 'usual' drink.
"Zemo might not be welcomed here, but his assistant can stay as long as she wants" a man says into your ear and you are quick to move away.
"Excuse me?" You eye the man on your side.
"What's your name pretty face? I can get you a better job than being an assistant" the man reaches to push your hair away from your face, letting his hand linger on your shoulder and your body tenses. Sam meets your eyes and slowly shakes his head, knowing you were about to break character and beat the hell out of this man. Zemo noticed, but kept a neutral expression.
"If he doesn't take his hand off you…" You hear Bucky murmur under his breath. You gesture with your hand at him carefully to not give anything up, just raising two fingers towards him.
"Who says I want a better job?" You smirk and reach for your drink, sipping on it on one go.
Zemo turns to look at Bucky, and you have heard the words Winter Soldier in Romanian enough times to know them, so when Zemo speaks them and Bucky nods, your heart stops. He is swift in his moves and in a blur he is gripping and twisting the hand of the man that was bothering you. He looks back at you as he shoves the man away, your eyes meet for a moment before it all starts. Men from left and right start throwing themselves to him, like if they stood a chance against the Winter Soldier. Seeing him like this sent chills down your spine. Quick, agile, ruthless. His moves were so calculated, so life ending. The Winter Soldier might be gone but his skills and moves were there alright, you only hoped it was just that.
"It didn't take much for him to fall back into form" Zemo says on your side almost as if he read your thoughts.
"Make it stop, Zemo or I swear I'll jump in the fight…" you snarl.
"Stay in character or the whole place will be upon us" Zemo says and you let out a huff. "Your soldier will be fine. It's all part of the show…"
"He is not my soldier…" your eyes couldn't get away from Bucky, who now had a man pinned on the table and that's when you hear the clicking of a gun.
Things take a bad turn real quick. Sam got caught in his character thanks to a phone call. Selby got killed and now there was a bounty for her killers who were apparently the four of you, then Sharon saved your assess and took you to her place. You were getting ready for the party, something comfortable to fight should it be needed. Bucky leans against the bathroom frame while you curl your hair, "You know that will go away soon though, right? When you pick on the next fight."
"If it lasts me two minutes it would be worth it" you say with a smirk as you look at him through the mirror, placing the iron on the counter you turn to look at him, he offers you a weak smile. "Well you look handsome" you say as you eye him. The black suit looked so good on him, and it just made his blue eyes stand out.
"You look... beautiful" he blinks as he eyes you, his hands falling into his pockets.
"Well thank you" your cheeks flush. After a few seconds, your gaze softens when you feel he is...off. "Are you okay, Buck? I know that what you did back there..." you trail off.
"I'm fine. Its just… I'm still processing..." he shrugs.
"You shouldn't have gone through with the plan. We could've found another way…"
"We didn't have time to find another way. Zemo knew that way would give us the information we needed" he says.
"I still don't like that he is using you like this..." you say with a frown.
He remains silent for a moment, wetting his lips before speaking. "Y/N, I know we-"
"You two done?" Sam interrupts and James takes an annoyed intake of breath, your gaze drops.
"Yeah" James walks away without a look back and you chew on your lower lip.
"Did I interrupt something?" Sam says with a smug smile.
"Get out" You walk out of the bathroom and Sam throws his arm around you, laughing.
"You two were having a moment there, weren't you?" Sam teases as you walk, poking on your shoulder. "Listen, you gotta do this smoothly. He is all rusty. He hasn't had a date in like 70 years."
"He probably wants to be by himself to finish that notebook, and right now nothing can distract us" you frown.
"You distract each other already" Sam says between laughs. "One of you will be in danger and the other will run and save the other."
"That's what I mean. Zemo said it earlier, the Winter Soldier has a reputation. If he has to keep playing the part, I'll be trying to stop him even more than I already do. I can't blow off the mission because of whatever this is..."
"Alright, you got a point, but talk to him, alright? If you want, take him out of the party and work it out" Sam pats your back as you walk out to the living room area.
"Looking sharp, Y/N" Sharon says with a grin once you come out and you twirl with a laugh. "Enjoy the party. Stay out of trouble, I'll see what I can find."
"Shall we then?" Zemo asks, holding his arm out to you.
"Let's go" you link your arm with his, just to play along. After this time with Zemo you figured out you might as well enjoy yourself, there was still a long way ahead before getting rid of him again. He didn't seem so bad since he broke out, you still didn't trust him though.
Once at the party, you stick around with Zemo. Sam and Bucky are somewhere around the lounge surveying the place, you all still had a bounty on your heads anyway. Meanwhile you are with Zemo, who was making some moves that had you giggling and laughing. He took your hand and started going around you before letting go and you grin. "Should've known you were this fun I would've helped breaking you out" you tease over the music.
"Didn't had a chance" Zemo says and smiles as he claps while letting the music move him. He eyes something behind you before looking back at you. "Your soldier can't seem to stop looking at you" you want to turn around, but you decided against it.
"He is not my soldier…" you say. "He is just watching out for us. We have prices on our heads remember?" You tap your head as you say the words. "And you have him acting as our bodyguard."
"I know your hatred was fueled when I had him act in such way, and I do apologize for such plan but it was the only way" he says. "You would know if you understood how things realistically move" he says.
"Apology accepted" you say. Zemo takes your hand and twirls you, and you catch a glimpse of Bucky walking towards the two of you.
"I believe we have company" Zemo says into your ear. "You know where to find me" he says and walks out and into the crowd with his own, awkward dancing pace. You giggle at it before turning around and finding Bucky close.
His shoulders were tense under that black suit that made him look so good, and his scowl was too obvious. "Having fun with Zemo?" He asks, everyone around you was moving to the music, except him who only looked to where Zemo had disappeared to, his tongue poking in annoyance at his cheek.
"Just wanted to get to know him a bit more. Is not an everyday thing we hang with a Most Wanted prisoner" you say with a shrug. "Who you broke out of jail may I add."
"I didn't do anything" he says and his gaze averts from yours.
"For being one hundred and six you are an awful liar, Buck" you smirk, but he doesn't say anything. His hands are tucked in his pockets, eyeing everything but you. "Relax. Enjoy the music."
"This isn't my type of music" he says coldly and looks around the place once again.
"Fine…" you stop on your moves. Might as well take Sam's suggestion, plus you could see this scenario and the music was too much for him. "Come on, let's go back upstairs and talk" you hold your hand out for him and he looks at it, he hesitates before his glove covered hand wraps around yours and you lead the way.
"I told you, I'll be fine" he sighs as he sits down on the couch, you sit right beside him.
"Bullshit, Barnes" you say as you drop down. "When you were fighting those people…"
"It was just an act…I'm not a killer anymore..."
"I know, Buck" you reach to put your hand on his knee, which he eyes before looking at you. "But you didn't go to therapy to get over this only to be pulled again for a show. This isn't right."
"I'm okay, I promise…" he trails off. "I'm just getting used to all of this" his hand covers yours, sending electricity through your nerves.
"I promised Steve I would look out for you to not do anything stupid," you smile at him "I am not a super soldier or have any powers, but if I can help. I will do what I can…" you admit to him. His blue eyes look into yours and your heart stops it's beating for a second.
You hold his gaze and shift your position on the couch, your leg was already falling asleep since it was under you. "I-" he pauses and you can see his mind wondering, thinking, calculating. Sam was right, you could almost see the gears turning.
"Talk to me. I know you have something to say" you smirk.
"I guess that what I'm trying to say is, I am glad that you are with me in this mission even after everything-"
"Don't. Please…" you were sure he was going to bring up that one time where Sam, Steve and Natasha, as well as yourself, were attacked by him while trying to get a hold of Hydra. It was the first time you had seen him, you didn't know him, but you feared him. You are a mere human and he is a super soldier, the most dangerous soldier for the past years. He had tried to kill you back then one way or another, guns, knives, grenades, but somehow you survived.
Then you met him when Cap and Sam went after him, seeing him act like a normal person triggered something in you. How could someone like him turn into someone so dangerous? The time you spent watching after him, and fighting alongside the team had warmed your heart towards him to the point you admitted to yourself you caught feelings for him. How could you not? You were the only person to go to Wakanda to see him after he was freed, and it will be an understatement that you cried your eyes out when he told you the words. That was when the two of you started having a connection.
"You okay?" His voice echoes and you realize you had zoned out.
"Yeah. Sorry I was just thinking of…" he eyes you curiously, those steel blue eyes had you going weak. You inch closer and you feel him move, his head siding in a way that all you had to do was… "I'm so sorry for this, Buck-"
"What are you apolog-" and your lips muffle his words when you press them against his. You hated this. Losing your control the second you are alone with him. This wasn't right, but it felt unbelievably nice. His lips don't move, so to save yourself more embarrassment you pull away and duck your head to avoid his gaze, hoping that your hair is covering the redness of your cheeks.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that…" you pull your hand away from under his, daring to look up at him. "We should go back to the-"
This time, he interrupts you. His flesh hand moving in a blur to the back of your head to bring you in for another kiss. His lips were rough on yours even when they parted slowly, but what did you expect? For him to be the womanizer Steve once told you he was? That now that he was free he would be kissing any girl? You let out a sigh of relief through your nostrils before pulling away.
"Did I do something wrong?" His eyes were soft with worry as he tried to meet yours.
"No. Gosh no" you bite your lip. "Don't apologize...I just lost myself there…" you giggle and he smiles weakly. You move forward again but stop, looking into his hues for approval before you lean in again slowly and his lips capture yours. He dares to part his lips and you tilt your head slightly, so does his, deepening the kiss only slightly.
"Y/N? Are you- Sweet Jesus!" Sam voices echoes through your ears and Bucky quickly pushes you away lightly, but enough to have you away from him.
"Sam. I-" You try to explain.
"Nuh-uh. I saw enough to know what was going on."
"Any leads?" Bucky asks, trying to divert the attention, standing up now.
"Sharon found him" Sam says. "Let's go, and no PDA while I'm around, okay?"
"When all of this is over-" Bucky starts as you two walk down the containers, Sam, Sharon and Zemo a few feet ahead.
"I shouldn't have done that" you insist. "My timing was off.."
"You make it sound like it was wrong when it wasn't" he pulls out his gun and so do you.
"It was" you nod your head as you walk. He reaches for your hand, looks at the group in front of you before he pulls you to the side behind a container, your body between the two.
"I have wanted what happened more than you know" he is soft in his words and his eyes divert to your lips for a moment. "I just...I have a past, Y/N..."
"A past you are free from now, Bucky" you point out. "You are not The Winter Soldier anymore. You have grown from that ever since Wakanda…" you assure him. "I'm not even asking you to accept it to start something because I know its way too soon-"
"You don't understand" he slowly backs away from you.
"You don't trust yourself entirely yet, do you?" His eyes avoiding your gaze made you frown. "I knew that this would have consequences. I'm going to talk to Zemo."
"Y/N, wait" he catches your arm as you turn and he brings you close. "We can't trust Zemo. You know that…" he says. "I am not sure how to explain it, but-"
That's when it hit you. "You don't want him to know we are each other's weakness…" you voice and his head nods slowly as he swallows.
"That's why we need to sort this out, but later, not during this…"
"Y/N?" Sam calls out and you frown.
"On it!" You whisper shout back.
"Be careful. I'll go in with Sam…You stay with Sharon…" he says and your head nods.
*****
"Walker I swear if you don't shut up I'll make you swallow that shield" your arms were crossed, leaning against the wall behind Bucky who was guarding the stairs. Zemo was cuffed, Sam was inside talking with Karli, Walker and Hoskins had found their way to you and now were here.
"Easy there. I'm just worried about your partner being in there by himself" he says and you notice the glare the Sargeant gives him.
"You have been messing this whole operation the moment you got here" you spat.
"Aren't you worried about Sam back there?"
"He can handle himself. He is doing what is right, unlike others" you eye him up and down and his whole face darkens, taking a step forward and you take a defiant one as well.
"Think carefully what you will do next, Walker" Bucky puts his hand on his chest.
"Let him. I can kick his ass and take that shield off his hands in a heartbeat…" you hiss.
"This is all easy for you, isn't it? All that serum rushin' through your veins. You let your partner in there with a Super Soldier, that blood will be on your hands if things get dirty in there…" Walker says to Bucky. How dare he!?
For a moment, you ponder on his words and you can't stand the thought of Sam being in there getting beaten by Super Soldiers while Walker could be right. You didn't want him to be. What if they took him? What if…?
"Buck…" you put your hand on his bicep and he looks at you, knowing very well what you wanted to do.
Of course, Walker wasn't very good with entrances since he literally waltzed in calling Karli and saying she was under arrest. Super Soldiers showed up everywhere and your eyes widened. Karli pushes Walker and then storms off running.
"Karli!" You call and look at Sam.
"Go! We got this!"
Your head nods, eyes shift to look at Bucky who was fighting a Super Soldier off before you storm to the direction Karli headed to. You see her walking down the corridor, not too far from you. "Karli, wait! This is not what it looks like!" Karli says and she stops in her tracks, looking back at you.
"It is exactly what it looks like! You are working for Captain America!"
"What? No! We hate the guy!" You admit bluntly, honesty can get you places after all, and at least she stopped. "We just want to work this out. There has to be a better way to fight for what you want, Karli…" you say and get closer.
"Yeah. There is...But first, you will help us deliver a message before we trust you again" your head tilts to the side curiously when you feel arms around you and you feel a pinch on your neck. Your eyelids feel heavy all of a sudden until you can't hold them open any longer.
-Bucky's POV-
After fighting some of the Flag Smashers off he meets with Sam, Walker and Hoskins in the middle of the building.
"We lost them" Hoskins says as he looked around.
"You made us loose them! I had everything under control until you stepped in!" Sam complained.
"Where is Y/N?" Bucky asks as he looks around.
"She went after Karli. I haven't seen her since..." Sam says, his phone goes off and Bucky is quick to move close to him as he opens the message. "They got Y/N…" Sam's brown eyes shift to look at Bucky who was clenching his jaw yet his eyes showed how worried he was, and mad for letting you go after Karli alone.
"That's it." Bucky turns on his heels and started walking the other direction.
"Bucky!" Sam calls but it didn't get the man's attention. "Bucky!"

If on the Love Triangle path, and the Detective agreed to have the Agency run tests on them, Rebecca will say that the Detective is going on the mission because of their ability to block out mind-altering abilities, and A will add that they (A and N) will be going with the Detective as backup.
If on the Love Triangle path, and the Detective did not have the Agency run tests, Rebecca will say that the Detective is going on the mission because their role in town will be useful in keeping people’s suspicions low, and A will add that they (A and N) will be going with the Detective as backup.

If Friendly is 40 or lower or Charming is 40 or lower, the Detective will think that the mission is going to be much harder in a place like that.
If Sarcastic is 70 or higher or Friendly is 70 or lower, the Detective will hope that they can all figure it out quickly.
If the above stats are not beyond those thresholds, the Detective will facetiously think it’s great that an unknown supernatural is spreading sickness in the creepiest place of all.

[What happened the day the DTI boys swapped personalities]
((I had 5 hours to do whatever so I did this. Warning it’s kinda longish))
So, Quinn was behind the idea of swaping personalities yesterday and was supported by Callum so it became a thing (this is how anything starts) They all drew names. Kierce got Francis. Francis got Quinn. Quinn got Kierce. Callum got Kent. Kent got Callum.
The rules to the game were simple: - They had to dress up as the person they got - They had to stay in character at all times - Everyone contributes $50 for the prize money - The last person to get eliminated gets the prize money - if there are two or more people standing the eliminated have to vote for who did the best and the winner gets the prize money
Mission 1: Dress the part.
Kierce: - Wore what he normal did around people - stole an eyepatch from Francis' collection - styled his hair to cover one of his eyes - Money spent: $0
Francis: - wore a ball cap - a bright yellow T-Shirt that said, "spreading happy :)" - blue jeans with splashes of different colors of paint - tied his hair back and got rid of the eyepatch - everyone liked that (but mostly Callum)
Quinn: - avoided formal clothes at all costs - raided Kierce's closet - wore a million accessories - shirt with obscure design on it - black jeans - yoiked Kierce's favorite jacket - Kierce did not like that
Callum: - sportswear - looked good - none were surprised - posted so many pictures of himself - his fans liked that
Kent: - Callum had to help him - $80 black dress shirt - $50 white designer pants - $65 grey Oxford boots - $70 ring - Total: $265.46 - Callum paid for all of it (:>) - Kent looked really good tho so it was all worth it
"They're group of good-looking men but something very wrong with all them." - Kierce's grandma 2016
The Tumblr stuff happened while they were waiting for everyone to get ready and start the day. Kierce will never say "Idiot baka, ever again.
So earlier on everyone picked out an activity they all liked doing. So Callum picked first.
Mission 2: Have a fashion show in Callum’s room.
Kierce: - said it was stupid - didn't do it - was a judge - 0's for everyone - took pictures of everyone - and laughed bitterly - enjoyed watching Francis suffer
Francis: - hated every minute of it - wanted to die - was stuck as the dj - fought the urge to play Last Resort - fought the urge to yell at Kent's stupidity
Quinn: - was a judge too - used big words - that he didn't know the meaning to - it was very adorable - "Sir your score is a 5+4." - beams with pride at his cleverness.
Callum: - lived and yet died - had to wear simple or mismatched outfits - oh the horror - still looked good
Kent: - wanted to try wearing high heels - failed - he tripped so badly - and so many times - but he really wanted to master walking in high heels - Kent pls stop you can't
Next thing!
Mission 3: Play at the park with kids. Quinn picked it after bungee jumping was shot down by Francis (who is afraid of heights.)
Kierce: - said it was stupid - did it anyway - Kei loves kids so dang much - he had so much fun telling them stories and helping the small ones on the monkey bars - said the kids made him do it - frowned on the outside - smiled on the inside - a tiny girl hugged him and he nearly hugged her back - he just patted her of the head awkwardly
Francis: - played on the merry-go-round - he spun it so fast and the kids loved him for it - he was smiling and laughing with all of them - fell off once and just laughed it off - everyone recorded it - Francis should act his age more often - he snuck his camera out every couple of minutes to take pictures of everyone - he mostly took pictures of Callum
Quinn: - told kids to stay in school and never do drugs - kept randomly saying things like, "1+1=2" - "Hey kid. Do you want some smarties? It's $20 a piece" - the kids found it funny - Kierce did not - pretended to take a nap on the bench
Callum: - played basketball with some boys - used to play basketball and hadn't done it in forever - everyone appreciated that - "How are you so tall mister?" "I have no idea I just," waves hands around, "grew one day." - his Kent impression was dead on - Kent went :O "I did that too!"
Kent: - played basketball with Callum and kids - he forgot he was Callum and couldn't help it - he was eliminated - but everyone expected that - Kent will and can only be Kent
Next!!!!
Mission 4: Play volleyball. Twas Kent’s idea so they went to the gym that the volleyball club use. The club members were there as usual and they played too.
Kierce: - Said it was stupid - Did it anyway - Had fun - Got hit in the face with the ball many times
Francis: - He was not a fan - He did jump around tho - and smiled no matter how fake it was - so he was safe - showed amazing team spirit - Lysander dropped by because he heard there was drama going on within the jock circle - happiness levels went up by millions - and smiled brighter than the sun - Ly was so confused but he liked seeing his bf happy as did everyone
(Side note: Francis is not single.)
Quinn: - You could tell he wanted to jump around and just be an energy ball - because that's what he did - he was eliminated - but he just shrugged it off and laughed - had too much fun missing the ball every time he tried to spike it
Callum: - CEO of getting hit in the face. - usually he'd just dodge them - but he was Kent now - he couldn't afford to break character - His nails suffered and he was in pain but he pushed through - had fun? - got hit in the stomach once - nearly died
Kent: - just an normal day with the bois - kept forgetting that most of the boys has never played volleyball before - he was the one behind all the times Callum and Kierce got hit in the face
Mission 5: Read books. Kierce's activity was originally doing a job one of the teachers had hired him to do, which was clean out one of the storage rooms. No one but Kierce liked that. So he had to pick again.
Kierce: - complained about such a stupid activity - read, "How to be British 101," and, "The Tea for Me Might Be the Tea for You” - enjoyed it
Francis: - enjoyed the peace and quiet - until he realized he was suppose to be disturbing it - looked over at Kierce - who looked back at him with a smug smile and then went back to his book - the urge to strangle was strong with this one - in the end he just bounced around looking at books - talked loudly about whatever - got kicked out of the library - danced all the way out - wanted to die
Quinn: - knew he was eliminated but was having too much fun to stop - randomly shushed people - found a math book - it was big so he assume it was complicated - it was and he understood nothing but he felt smart - "Quinn what are you reading?" "Advanced Engineering Mathematics; the 7th edition." - when he got tired of it he found a book with math puns - math puns for the rest of the day
Callum: - avoided the fashion magazines - wouldn't even go anywhere near it - instead he just walked around all bored like - bounced a ball off the wall - accidentally hit himself in the face with the ball - blacked out for a minute - when he finally came to - Kent: "Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there." - Callum: "Damn you Stormcloaks. Skyrim was fine until you came along. Empire was nice and lazy. If they hadn't been looking for you, I could've stolen that horse and been half way to Hammerfell. You there. You and me - we shouldn't be here. It's these Stormcloaks the Empire wants." - Quinn: "We're all brothers and sisters in binds now, thief." - Kierce: "Shut up back there!" - Francis recorded the whole thing
Kent: - was bored - kept pulling books off the shelves and putting them back where they didn't belong - danced out with Francis
The last mission: Go to Francis' favorite tea shop.
Kierce: - first thing he did was order Francis' favorite tea - "Hmm, this doesn't taste as good as it usually does." - got assaulted by napkins
Francis: - assaulted Kierce with napkins - tried to run away - Kierce threw a fork at him - he died from shock - eliminated - ordered his favorite tea - proceeded to go on a rant about how stupid the day has been - chewed out Kent for being stupid and told him to never try wearing high heels beacuse he'll only hurt himself - told Quinn that offering candy to kids was a bad idea even if it is a joke because adults can take it the wrong way and that his math puns were the worst - told Callum that he should play basketball more often - glared at Kierce
Quinn: - makes a math pun - but it's not just any math pun - it's the worst math pun - had countless hot chocolates because Callum was paying - tried to make Francis and Kierce apologize to each other - Francis: "No, I'm not apologizing. He said something stupid and deserved everything he got." - Kierce: "I'm not apologizing to someone as stupid as him that's just stupid." - Quinn: :( - Kent: "Could you two get along FOR FIVE MINUTES!"
Callum: - smiled at all the workers and told them they were all doing a great job - gave them all a $50 tip for their hard work - they were so busy dying they didn't notice Kierce and Francis fighting - the DTI boys avoided getting kicked out again - sadly that wasn't a very Kent thing to do - he did got eliminated - ordered an latte - there was a fancy heart in it - Cal took a picture - then he asked for the cafe worker who did it to thank them - "Thank you, you’re really talented with latte art. Next time I visit will you teach me how to do that?"
Kent: - he had a great time - had a smoothie or two - laughed at Quinn's bad math puns when no one else did
To end the day the five friends went to a karaoke and had a great time singing and talking about the events of the day. Francis showed off the pictures he took that day and promised that he'd print copies of the best ones and give them to everyone. Kierce won $250 which is always a good way to end the day. Callum swore to never play volleyball and posted on Instagram about the day. Quinn has a great time and learned many things, like how many math puns there are, something that is always very important to know. Kent was just happy to spend time with his friends and play volleyball. It was a wonderful day.

“Retreat your mission and come see me immediately. Things have changed…”
*click*
You slipped your phone back into the inner pocket of your leather jacket and began walking straight towards the exit. The musicians have stopped playing and you could feel their eyes that’s been following every path you make for your leave. You could still hear Yunho taking turns yelling at you and then at Seonghwa for still holding him back in the background. Goodness… he was honestly starting to give you a headache with all the creative threats he was coming up with… This was the guy who took out your entire west wing? Massaging your temples to relieve some of your aggravation from the loud noise, a figure swiftly moves in front of you, blocking your way to the exit that was only one step away from your reach.
“Leaving so soon?”
He spoke with such bold confidence emitting from him.
You looked up to link where the voice was coming from, startled because you didn’t feel his presence coming at all and were met with the cheekiest grin you’ve ever seen. You took a small step back to observe his face fully. He also looked like he was roughly around the same age as you, being a few inches taller. He had red highlights in his dark hair that matched his brash, dimpled smile perfectly. But what truly caught your attention was his eyes. They were soft yet intense that almost had a cat-like glint to them. It made you feel serene yet intimidated all at the same time. If wisps of his hair weren’t partially concealing his eyes, his gaze that was piercing into your eyes would’ve been twice as more intense.
“What? Cat got your tongue?”
You averted your eyes, his gaze almost too hypnotizing for you to bear. When you finally regained your composure, you were finally able to speak in a slicing decisive tone, “Move.” You looked up to meet his eyes again, this time with a strong glare. His smirk and eyes seemed softer this time. If you made your judgment correctly, they also had a hint of regret that laid with his dark pupils. “I mean, you barely finished your coffee and Yunho looks like he really wants you to stay.” You physically cringed upon hearing Yunho’s name, unable to stand the huge amount of annoyance you had developed towards him during this short amount of timeframe. Honestly, it must be a talent to get under someone’s skin so quickly. Your thoughts were adverted when you suddenly heard a deep voice that spoke up behind you, “San, enough. Let her go. I’m sure she’s been summoned.” The man in front of you who’s now apparent name, San, regained his cheeky grin again, “Awww come on Mingi, you’re no fun!” You turned your head to see the man named Mingi, who was much taller than you. His vivid blue-green streaks in his hair were much more vibrant up close compared to when he was on stage. He also had prominent features. Something you’ve noticed that all of the men in this building seemed to have. Not just outwardly appearance but their auras as well. They all carried themselves well.
“Hongjoong’s orders. Come on, move so she can go.” Mingi and San stared at each other for a couple of seconds, seemingly communicating in an unspoken conversation until San finally gives in and sighs, “Alright, alright,” he looked down towards you and spoke in a hushed tone so quiet that you almost missed what he said, “I’ll see you again.” He finally moves to the side, unblocking himself from the exit. As you were walking you quickly muttered, “Seems unlikely,” not catching San’s face slightly falling into gloom as you finally walked out, leaving everything and everyone behind you. Mingi walked up to San who was still looking at the direction where you just left and put his hand on San’s shoulder, knowing how San must’ve been feeling. “Hyung, come on. We should probably go tell Yeosang what happened. I’m sure he would like to know.” The two men turned to their maknae, and Mingi added, “Yeah. Jongho, go update Hongjoong. He should be at the base right now. The rest of us will go to you guys after we update Yeosang.” Jongho nodded and left for the base exiting from the back door. Mingi slung his arm around San’s shoulders as dragged him towards the rest of the members where Yunho still seemed angry but seemed much calmer thanks to Wooyoung additionally helping Seonghwa calm him down.
“Honestly, Yunho. Did you really have to provoke her?” Seonghwa scolded at Yunho, who looked extremely unimpressed until Mingi added in, “and thanks to that, you’re going to be the one to tell Yeosang what happened.” But Yunho was quick to retort, “No way! Who knows what he’s going to do to me-“ “Well you should’ve thought of that before you picked a fight with her,” San stated matter-of-factly. Yunho knew that his members were right but he couldn’t help but feel distaste towards you. Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to win an argument against four people, he gave in, “fine, I’ll tell him but I still don’t like her.” “Alright, case closed! Let’s go. I’m hungry!” Wooyoung blurted out with a huge smile, honestly finding the entire situation too serious and gloomy for his liking. All of them left one by one, Yunho being the last. He looked back one last time at the stool you were sitting on earlier. There’s no way he would ever trust you…
∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘
As you were making your way towards your organization, you couldn’t get you Boss’s determined voice out of your head, “Things have changed…”
What could’ve possibly changed? Could he have really changed his mind about the assassination when your entire west wing was annihilated? As much as you disliked him, his skills must’ve been pretty subpar taking in that information and your small encounter with him earlier. No… your boss would never let a man like him left unterminated. Knowing your boss, he definitely has something bigger planned. Something more beneficial to him.
Also, San… you felt almost the same sort of comfort you feel towards Yeosang, but at the same time not quite the same. The fact that you were swayed by your emotions just by looking at his eyes means that he’s going to be a negative impact for you. Well, you’re never going to see him again so it shouldn’t be a problem. You pulled your leather jacket closer, the night air being significantly chillier than a few hours ago. You picked up your pace when you saw the big ‘ZG Banks’ sign that illuminated brighter than it did during the day when you first left the building. You walked in from the back, where the elevator that led directly to your boss’s office is located. The elevator doors shut and rise to the 72nd floor, the compressed interior heat immediately hushing your goosebumps. 69….70….71….72. As the elevator dinging, your face immediately removed any signs of emotion, almost like a cue or a reminder. You knocked on the door three times as the golden nameplate shined.
“Come in.”
You complied, shutting the door as you made your way in. The lights were dimmed with the moonlight reflecting in through the large bulletproof windows aligned behind him. The smoke of his cigars filled the room, making an appearance of the dreadful foggy night. Your boss was sitting on his office chair, his back facing you.
“You took too long to get here. Speak.”
You breathed in quickly and silently before speaking, “I apologize. I got caught up in a disturbance.”
“Did you find Yunho? Speak.”
“Yes. I was about to strike until I received your call and retreated.”
Your boss took a long puff before speaking again, smoking escaping from his mouth, “I called you back here because I changed my mind.”
Another puff, “It seems that killing one measly rat would not satisfy my rage so I had a team find me more information. It took a while, but it turns out Yunho is from ATEEZ. I have been warned by my partnering conglomerates about ATEEZ, being known as a small unit from a small corporation KQ and yet the most deadly they have ever faced. There are no available sources regarding the boss of KQ and I want more information.” Your boss’s face contorted into a sinister smile before continuing, “You act as both a spy and as a peace offering for our companies, to which they’ve already easily accepted, and report any notable information back to me. When I feel that there is no more information for me to keep, terminate all of their associates, except for Yunho and his boss. Bring them here and kill them in front of me so I can watch their pity lifeless faces with glee. I always love a dinner and a show,” your boss’s menacing aura was oozing from every fiber of his being.
“Report to me once a week. Do whatever it takes to retrieve the most confidential information. Get close if you have to. I want this to benefit me entirely.”
Your boss added one final comment, “Do not disappoint me.”
You bowed and exited his office. It was only until you entered another confined space and the elevator doors shut that you were finally breathing stably again. Your face relaxed a little more but your chest felt heavy. Ah…there it was again. Fear.
Suddenly, the voice in your nightmares flooded your mind.
“You don’t feel any emotions and you will not feel any emotions except fear. Fear for your life.”
You clutched your head, shutting your eyes, hoping that the voice will somehow go away.
“Nana! Listen to me! You killed me here on October 24, 2008. You. Killed. Me.”
Your throat tightens as you felt your anxiousness edging. You can’t remember anything. Why couldn’t you remember anything? You leaned back, feeling the cool metal walls of the elevator, trying to remain calm.
You knew you weren’t supposed to feel emotions. ZG’s assassination training should have ejected any sorts of emotions and yet for some reason, you still had yours.
Uncertainty. “I have too many unanswered questions.” Who and where is Set? Is he dead?
Loneliness. “Why am I alone?” Is there anyone in this world that remotely cared for you?
Anger. “If Set is my brother, why did he leave me?” Did Set abandon you, his sister?
Anxiety. “I can’t breathe…” You wanted this to end.
Terror. “I don’t want to die…” Your biggest fear.
And if your boss were to ever find out the truth, it would be the end for you…
You straightened yourself, removed your hands from your head, let it fall to your sides, and exhaled slowly one last time. The elevator dinged, indicating your arrival on the ground floor. You took out your flip phone, hit number 3 for speed dial, and waited for a response. It rang once...twice...thr-

“You did what?!” Yeosang raised his voice while Yunho, being the receiving end of the yelling, visibly flinched. The members excluding the boss and the maknae gathered in one of the base meeting rooms.
“It wasn’t even that big of a deal! I just pushed her buttons a little bi-“
“A lot. You pushed her buttons a lot. She pulled her blades on us.”
“Shut up, hyung. You wouldn’t even be here yapping your mouth if I didn’t save your ass.”
“Is that why you have a cut on your cheek?” Yeosang asked eyeing Yunho. It was odd for Yunho to get a minor injury. He either got hurt to the extreme or without a single scratch.
Yunho stifled an unpleased mumble, “Yeah…”
Yeosang sighed, “Yunho… I’m not that mad at you for making her mad... I mean, you certainly can’t charm everyone-“ Seonghwa chuckled at that with Yunho shooting him a glare.
“Anyways, as I was saying. I’m just worried that Nana won’t join us now… you weren't supposed to provoke her. We planned this for many years and the chance finally arrived, but you could’ve potentially ruined all of that.”
At that, Mingi spoke up, “San also provoked her.”
“You did what?!” Yeosang snapped his head quickly towards San who was obviously caught off guard by Mingi calling him out.
“I did no such thing! She stared into my eyes and I stared into hers, which were very pretty up close by the way-“
“Ew, gross. It did NOT look pretty when I saw them-“
“Shut it, Yunho. That’s because she was looking at you full of disgust, unlike what she did with me-“
Among all of the bantering, Yeosang, clearly stressed, was massaging his temples to alleviate some stress, “Let’s just…go meet with Hongjoong and Jongho, yeah?”
The members all agreed and migrated towards Hongjoong’s office. Their “base” was really one big mansion that consisted of each of the member’s bedrooms along with a few extra guest bedrooms, living room with the entire wall being one giant window, huge kitchen that comes with a coffee bar and real bar that makes up for the lack of one at Fellaz, training room in the basement, multiple meeting rooms, and lastly Hongjoong’s office.
All eight members finally gathered together.
“I’ve heard about what happened from Jongho. Yunho, I’m sure Yeosang already scolded you plenty so I won’t touch that topic anymore. There are things I want to remind everyone. First, Nana is going to be one of us. We’re all going to welcome her, just like we’ve been planning for the past few years. Second, Nana doesn’t know about us knowing her codename, so we still have to call her ‘y/n’. Make sure you guys won’t mix it up. Third, Nana doesn’t know us like we know her. We can’t have our plan backfire so be careful with that as well. Yeosang… you do know you have to eventually tell her right? She doesn’t have to know everything at once, but she’s going to find out that you’ve been working behind her back with the whole Yunho incident.”
Yeosang knew this. He knew that you would feel betrayed when you find out that he’s apart of ATEEZ.
He was definitely shocked to receive a photo of Yunho when you asked him to find more information about someone that was one of his members, but you had no clue. The plan had actually worked. Yeosang has been telling Hongjoong the cruelty of your organization, murdering anyone and everyone being completely corrupted and has been pleading Hongjoong to let you join ATEEZ, where they fight for justice and mercy at any cost, even if it means murder. Hongjoong agreed. This plan was thought out for many years to ensure your complete freedom. The plan was for Yunho to attack the entire west wing. Then ZG would either send in their top assassin (you) or offer a peace offering and ask for Nana during the negotiation.
Now, what was unexpected was for ZG to do both of the choices. Why would he send in an assassin, retreat the mission, and ask for a peace offering instead?
“Yeosang?”
“Sorry, Hongjoong… Yeah, I know. It’s just…. isn't it strange how ZG retreated his assassination on Yunho and then ask for a peace offering?”
Hongjoong nodded, clearly trusting Yeosang’s intellectual judgment.
“I told you guys, I don’t trust her,” Yunho spoke up but Hongjoong was quick to retort, “The problem isn’t Nana. The problem is ZG and he’s planning something big.” “Exactly! She’s apart of ZG!” Yunho raised his voice continuing, “What makes you guys think she’s the same person as she was 8 years ago?! Nana doesn’t even remember anything!” This time, San spoke up, “She may not remember everything but she saved my life. So I’m going to do whatever it takes to get her out of that hellhole.” Wooyoung spoke up for the first time, “I agree with San. Nana deserves her freedom. I get where you’re coming from Yunho, but what if she’s still the same Nana?”
Yunho’s voice softened, “I get that… I just want the best for you gu-“
*ring ring ring*
Everyone’s head instantly turned to Yeosang who was staring at his flip phone.
“It’s Nana.”
*ring ring ring*
“Hyung, what should I do?”
*ring ring ring*
“Answer it.”
∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘
“Y/n? Hello?”
“Yeosang, I need to find KQ headquarters. I’ll give you a lot of fried chicken for this. Can you just… find where it’s located asap?“
The members looked at each other's faces as the phone was on speaker. Unbeknownst to you that they were listening to every word you were speaking through the other end of the call. There was a small trace of weariness with your voice that only Yeosang could notice. You may have sounded normal to everyone else in the room but to Yeosang, you sounded exhausted. Not physically, but mentally.
Yeosang looked and Hongjoong and he nodded, cueing to answer.
“No chicken, it’s fine… I know where it’s at. It’s right next to Seven Seasons park…”
There was no answer.
“Y/n? Are you still th-?
“Next to Seven Seasons park? Our meeting place?”
“Y-yes.”
“So, you’re telling me that the mansion next to the park is KQ headquarters? Right next to our usual meeting place?”
“Yes…”
“Are you f*cking kidding me? You’re one of them aren’t you?” He always knew you caught on quick…Yeosang looked down, feeling the members staring at him. With the lack of response from his end of the call, you continued.
“You knew all this time and put me directly into your little setup,” You knew it was unfair for you to be angry since you shouldn’t trust anyone in this field of work. It was every person for themselves. You’re used to betrayal and should’ve expected this from anyone you work with but something about the betrayal coming from Yeosang made you sick to your stomach.
“You know…I bet your members are even listening in to this conversation.”
At this, Yeosang looked up and saw that all of his members were surprised with wide-eyes.
“Y/n, it’s not like that. I just-“
“Save it. I’ll be over there in a bit.”
*click*
The members were all silent after the call ended. They definitely didn’t expect you to catch on this quick but they definitely didn’t expect you to still come to their base.
Wooyoung spoke up being the first to break the silence, “Well~ that definitely wasn’t how I expected for her to find out.”
“At least she’s still coming, “ Jongho added.
“Yeah, maybe to wreak havoc and kill us all,” Yunho also added.
“Must you always expect the negative from her?” Seonghwa expressed to Yunho, which earned him a sigh from the younger member.
Mingi spoke up next, “Yeosang…you alright?”
Yeosang nodded, still looking down. He never wanted to make you upset.
Everyone looked at their leader as he made his first comment after the call, “Yeosang or even San… You both know her the most. Can you predict what she could be planning?”
San shrugged, “I can only predict her combat move. I don’t know her on an emotional level as much as Yeosang.”
Yeosang finally looked up, “She sounded determined but I don’t think she’s planning to kill all of us…” Yunho scoffed at that, but Yeosang continued, “Really, to me she sounded more hurt and betrayed than anger. If anything, she’ll only have a problem with me truly.”
Mingi put his hand on Yeosang’s shoulder, trying to alleviate the guilt his fellow member must be feeling.
Hongjoong spoke once more, “Yeosang, everything will be okay. It’s understandable that she’s upset but no one will be getting hurt on my watch. I won’t let her hurt my members nor will I allow any harm come to Nana.” Hongjoong looked at Yunho as he said Nana’s name, “Is that clear?”
Everyone hummed in agreement including Yunho, although unwillingly.
Wooyoung stood up and clapped his hands, “Well come on! Let’s get ready, our guest is coming soon~” No one could truly understand how Wooyoung was able to keep his vibrant smile all the time but it was definitely comforting. San got up with him and wrapped his arms around Wooyoung and Jongho dragging them out, “Let’s gooo~”
The rest of the members followed. As Yunho was about to walk out, Hongjoong stopped him, holding his arm. He looked down to his leader who was shorter than he was but still radiated with charisma.
“Yunho, please give her a chance. You know how much this means to the members, especially Yeosang. I didn’t forget how much hatred you have for ZG and I know she may be apart of ZG right now, but please…”
Yunho’s eyes softened towards his leader’s plea. He knew it wasn’t fair to judge you just because you’re with ZG especially not by choice. He just can’t forget what ZG had done. Yunho sighed and gently shrugged his arm to be free from Hongjoong’s grasp.
“I know, hyung…” Yunho left that one final comment before walking out, leaving Hongjoong in his office by myself.
“I know you do, Yunho. I know.”
∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘∘
You flipped your phone shut and started making your way towards KQ. You were mentally exhausted. You should’ve seen this coming. You should expect betrayal coming from all directions but you didn’t… Not from Yeosang. But his boss accepted you as a peace offering and you still had to complete your newly arranged mission. You couldn’t afford to be lost by your emotions right now.
Not ever.
You saw the large mansion, the lights lit from the indoors, and the perimeter surrounded by gates and cameras. It’s definitely luxurious, just not something you expected from a small organization.
You inhaled and exhaled deeply. The air that escaped from your mouth transforming into a puff of smoke from the chilly midnight weather. You finally hit the buzzer and waited for an answer until you heard a slightly high toned voiced coming from the buzzer box, “Yes? Can I help you?”
“Hello. I was sent by ZG. I believe your boss had spoken with mine about an agreement-”
“Oh, yeah! We were expecting you! Hang on, let me open the gates for you.” The voice suddenly spoke in a more casual, cheerful tone.
Upon cue, the gates opened and you walked down the path that led to the entrance. The door was already opened with a figure standing there, waiting for you. Getting a closer view, you’ve noticed that it was the drummer on stage back at Fellaz. What was his name again? Woogie? Woo?-
“Hey! Glad you could make it. I’m Wooyoung. Come in, come in!”
Ah, that’s right. It was Wooyoung. His ashy hair suited him even better up close. Although his cheerful demeanor was definitely a bit loud and overwhelming considering it was around midnight but his boxy smile quickly dissipated your thoughts. It was nice to see someone who seemed genuinely happy with his life. Not what you expected from someone being in the mafia, but it was definitely a relief because you were used to being surrounded with an area full of bloodlust.
You gave him a small smile as you introduced yourself, “I’m y/n, nice to properly meet you, Wooyoung.”
Wooyoung smiled even bigger, not exactly sure how that’s possible. “It’s really great meeting you, y/n! Let me take you to meet the rest of our members and our leader!” He reached to grab your hand and you almost mistook the gesture as an attack, quickly stepping back.
Wooyoung’s face fell quickly as he noticed this, “I’m so sorry, I was just reaching to grab your hand. I’m sorry, I should’ve been more careful…”
You felt bad for seeing Wooyoung’s mood dropping so suddenly so you quickly reassured him, “It’s fine. I’m sorry, I’m just not used to skinship… Sorry.” You reached forward and softly grasped his hand.
Wooyoung smiled at your gesture, “All’s forgiven. They should all be in the living room. Come on, let’s go!”
As Wooyoung was leading you to the living room, you looked around, taking in your surroundings. The white marble floor was well polished, reflecting the dangling lights hanging from the ceiling. It was elegant and modern with perfect simplicity. He turned and led you through a corridor, passing by multiple doors made with rich mahogany woods, leading to rooms you didn’t know what it was used for.
Wooyoung noticed you looking around and commented, “We can give you a tour later after you meet everyone. They’re all excited to see you~”
You met some of them back at Fellaz and you certainly weren’t ready to meet some of them… “The ones back at Fellaz right? and Yeosang?”
Wooyoung squeezed your hand a little bit, “Yeah, the ones at Fellaz. Our leader wasn’t there or Yeosang, but they are all here now. All eight of us.”
“Then I’m sure some of them aren’t excited to see me again,” you commented. Wooyoung knew you were talking about Yunho. In all honesty, you didn’t want to see him either and you’re not sure if you’re entirely ready to see Yeosang or any of them for that matter. You just had to do your job.
Wooyoung chuckled at your comment, “Well, he’ll get over it-“
You both finally reached the end of the hallway, exposing a spacious room with the entire windowed wall exposing the vast view of the night cityscape. In the middle of the room, you can see seven boys gathered on the black leather sofa. All of them stood up upon noticing you and Wooyoung’s arrival, well all but one who you recognized to be Yunho. You saw one of them nudge him and he finally stood up with the rest of them.
One of the men, shorter yet extremely charismatic, walked forward with a charming smile, “Hi, you must be y/n. I’m glad you could make it. I’m Hongjoong, the leader of ATEEZ.” He finished his introduction, bowing his head to show his respect. Even if he didn’t tell you that he was the leader, you would’ve been able to guess just by how he carried himself. He was extremely well-mannered.
You bowed back to reciprocate your respect and then suddenly yanked by Wooyoung bringing you closer to the members, “There’s no need to be so formal! It’s just Hongjoong-hyung~” Wooyoung laughed with some of them following.
“Yeah, we keep things casual here. Hongjoong just likes to show off sometimes- I’m Mingi. We saw each other briefly at Fellaz but nice to officially meet you.” He held his hand out for you to shake, and you took his hand to do so.
Mingi looked down at your other hand being occupied, “Wooyoung, how long are you going to hold her hand?”
You looked down at yours and Wooyoung’s hand still linking together and quickly retreated it, honestly forgetting that he was still holding it and your face heated up a little due to the new skinship.
“Aw come on, Mingi~ Did you really have to mention it?” Wooyoung whined until another voice cut in.
“Hyung, stop whining,” giving Wooyoung a strong shove with a smile on his face before turning to you. You noticed that he was the one playing the violin on the stage.
“Hi, I’m Jongho, the youngest on the team and I like to break apples in half while singing.”
Odd…the members were very…odd, to say the least.
But you smiled back at Jongho, “Nice to meet you. I would like to witness that one day.” The maknae smiled even wider at your comment and another voice commented, this time more familiar,
“Glad you could make it, y/n.”
You reciprocated the same gentle smile he was giving you, “Thanks, Seonghwa.”
Then you were startled when a figure quickly moved next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. It was frightening how fast he moved and how you could never feel his presence until he’s directly next to you. You were about to nudge it off but his grip far too strong yet careful so he wouldn’t cause you any discomfort. You looked up and met his eyes. It’s him. His hypnotizing cat-like eyes.
“I told you we’ll meet again~” his tone lull and soothing. You tried to say something but your voice failed you as you felt your heart beating faster.
Suddenly someone karate kicked him from behind, making the boy releasing his grasp on you, “San! Personal space!” San quickly got up and retorted, “I don’t want to be told that by you, Wooyoung!”
Hongjoong sighed watching two of his members bickering before turning to you, “I apologize…for them.”
You waved your hand off to indicate that it was fine until you heard a voice.
“Y/n….”
It was Yeosang’s voice. You turned to see Yeosang’s face, covered with guilt. Hongjoong looked between the two of you before finally saying, “I’ll let you two work it out, I’m going to attempt to stop…that,” Hongjoong pointed towards San and Wooyoung and walked away, leaving you and Yeosang to yourselves.
You looked at the two guys still bickering with the other members trying to make them stop, “Shouldn’t we help?” You asked, looking up to Yeosang.
Yeosang could tell you were trying to act normal. Despite what anyone says you were always attentive towards other’s feelings, dissipating any conflict that would make the other party feel uncomfortable.
“No, they may bicker like that sometimes, but they’re actually really close. Closer than the rest of us. I guess that’s why they’re able to freely express their feelings to each other so easily.”
You nodded at his comment.
“Y/n, I’m really sorry…”
“I know, it’s okay.” You looked up at Yeosang’s face, confused and suspicious by your quick forgiveness and you continued, “You did what you had to do for your organization. It’s understandable. I’m not mad anymore. I was just shocked.”
Yeosang observed your face to see any trace of you lying, but he couldn’t because you genuinely meant what you said.
“and…I think I was hurt but I know you honestly feel guilty about it so it’s okay now. Let’s work well together, yeah?”
You held your hand out for Yeosang, “Let’s shake, forgive, and forget,” you stated with a smile.
Yeosang took your hand and shook it, smiling back, “Thank you. All’s well.”
You and Yeosang truly meant what you’ve both said at the time, but you both still felt the secrets you both kept from each other deep inside, pushing it away for now.
“Not yet, maybe another day,” you both thought to yourselves simultaneously.
You both joined the others on the sofa after noticing that things have calmed down in their end as well.
“So y/n, I first want to say that I appreciate you coming here to symbolize peace within two organizations. I believe your boss had commented on how your skills are subpar, and I honestly believe it. Secondly, rather than acting as some sort of “offering”, I truly want to offer you a position as our ninth member. What do you say?”
You were surprised by his offer. You honestly thought you were going to be used slaving away as an assassin whenever needed. That’s what ZG had told you that was what you were going to be but he was offering you an actual position… an equal position with the rest of his members…
Half feeling content because you know you could gather more intel working close with the members and the other half feeling some sort of discomfort deep within your chest, but you shook off the latter half and accepted Hongjoong’s offer.
To which he smiled big. He looked as if he was genuinely happy about your acceptance, “Great! We have a guest bedroom that you can stay in for tonight, and tomorrow you can get your stuff and officially move in. We’ll have one or two of us help you-“
“Is that really necessary?” you blurted.
All of the members turned to look at you, and you realized that you sounded defensive so you continued to elaborate, “I mean, the help. I can move everything on my own. I don’t have much stuff.”
Hongjoong sighed with relief, “Ah, yeah. It’ll be no problem. The sooner we could properly welcome you, the better!”
Everyone hummed with an agreement and carried their own conversations of renovating your bedroom and things in that matter. You continued to listen to their conversations until you felt someone staring daggers into your soul so you turned to see the culprit.
It’s Yunho and you weren’t surprised but you did feel some sort of satisfaction upon seeing how there was a bandage that covered the cut you’ve caused on his cheek.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer.”
Yunho’s eyebrow twitched at your comment before blurting back, “Why would I save a picture of the ugliest lil gremlin I’ve ever seen? Actually, you know what? I just might and turn it into the guinness world records. I’m sure I’ll make big bucks out of it.”
Yeosang and everyone in the room immediately stopped their conversations at the moment and stared at the two of you. You could feel your blood boiling and you’ve never felt your anger rising up to this point, but you remained a straight face. There’s no way you were going to let him enjoy mocking you.
Although you had many colorful words flowing through your head, you resisted the urge to verbalize it and the deep urge to rip his head off. Instead, remaining a straight face.
Yeosang was glaring at Yunho so hard, and he knew he went too far.
“Yunho.” Hongjoong called him in a directive tone.
Yunho got up from the sofa, “Yeah, yeah…I know. You all enjoy your night. I’m going to bed,” and left the living room. Leaving the area quiet and speechless.
After a few moments of silence, Wooyoung announced, “Well! It’s getting late, we should all probably head to bed now,” saving the gloomy atmosphere yet once again. Everyone agreed and got up, leaving one by one.
“Come on, I’ll lead you to the guest bedroom, “Hongjoong offered and you thanked him.
Both of you walked down the corridor in silence. As you followed Hongjoong, he finally broke the silence, “I’m sorry about Yunho…he’s actually a really caring guy. He just has trouble showing it sometimes.”
You nodded at that, “It’s okay. I understand,” and you really meant it.
“I really hope you’ll enjoy being with us... Really, we view each other like family rather than a business-related organization,” he stated with a caring tone.
He must really love his members…
You both stopped at a door, “Well, this is the guest bedroom. I hope you’ll sleep well tonight.”
“Thank you, Hongjoong.”
You turned to enter the door but was stopped when Hongjoong made one last comment in the most authentic smile you’ve ever seen.
“Goodnight, y/n,” and with that he turned and left.
“Goodnight, Hongjoong,” you whispered, fighting back the unsettling feeling in your chest…

-e/n: wow wow wow, this chapter turned out longer than i expected but i truly enjoyed writing it! what could yeosang’s secret be? how does all the members already know nana? could yunho and nana ever get along? (lol)
let me know what you guys think and if you guys are starting to have any idea who she might end up with? thanks for reading :)

Ah boy that took quite a while! I’m starting to see the appeal on Hyoh now. Too bad I never got one :’). I possibly could’ve succeeded in that final mission if I remembered Eiko had banish on her, but ah well. Hopefully, that ability won’t be super important in the future!
Strat for The Scorn of the 2-Headed Dragon:
This incarnation of the 2-Headed Dragon (TH Drag) can take a very long time depending on your setup. Like before, he will counter you if you use any abilities or magic with a 120% full break or a snort respectively. He also has 300% resist to all elements and 150 million HP... ouch. However, there’s a catch. Whenever you hit him with a damage dealing esper, he reduces all of his resists by 330% for the first time, 360% for the second time, 390% for the third time, and won’t counter your abilities or magic for 2 turns (it also gives you a free turn since he won’t do anything right after getting hit by the esper). The fourth time he is imperiled, he resets the counter back to 330% and continues the pattern. To get there, you’re going to want an evoker to fill your esper gauge, a fantastic tank to soak up all of the incoming damage, decent buffs and elemental resists, and a way to get rid of breaks and status ailments.
The Team:
MS Nichol- My buffer, again :’). Nichol’s incredible buffs can outlast his initial 70% AoE full break long enough for you to get a good defense up. He also has 70% buffs to your Ice, Light, and Dark resists, 3 out of the 4 elements TH Drag hits you with. And, just in case, his Limit heals your HP/MP by 20%, removes all of the nasty breaks on your team, and buffs everyone by 134%, good to use as a last resort.
Eiko- My evoker/healer of choice and, in my opinion, the MVP of this battle. Eiko is incredible for this fight, being able to heal and fill your esper gauge in the same turn. She can also remove breaks, increase your LB fill rate (a good edition for many of the units on this team), and dispel the boss’s ATK/MAG buffs. To top it off, her limit fills the esper gauge by a lot, gives a massive heal, and removes all breaks. This allows you to spam espers more readily if you have it up and can get rid of the TH Drag’s annoying breaks.
Wilhelm- My tank of choice. Aside from being super tanky (especially with that TMR ability), Wilhelm’s counters can fill the esper gauge much faster than just having Eiko do it. His limit also helps survive the boss’s huge AoE magic nuke under the 60% threshold.
Yan- Elemental support and break resist. Yan, one of the few units with AoE break resistance will completely negate his Dragon’s Voice, making the battle MUCH easier. She has Bushido - Freedom for the beginning of the fight and Rikku’s Pouch for Panacea. Yan’s limit also has 64% all elemental resist on it coupled with an AoE reraise. Perfect for surviving the multitude of elements he throws at you.
Raegen and Hyoh- Damage dealers, both with fire elemental weapons. Honestly, you could go with anyone here, but Raegen has side elemental support and side healing and I really wanted to try out Hyoh.
The Battle:
The TH Drag gets the first turn and he AoE 70% full breaks you right at the start. Fun, I know. Use Bushido - Freedom on yourself if you would rather not stress about that, get your tank ready, get buffs up, and start filling your esper gauge. Remember, don’t damage him with any abilities or magic until you summon an esper. Until then, he will break you again every 4 turns, hit you with a lightning/dark magic attack or an ice/light magic attack, heavy ST and AoE physical attacks, and will attempt to dispel one of your units every two turns (most likely your tank). Prepare for all of this through elemental buffs, break resist, and timing your esper summon to ignore the dispel. In addition to these attacks, he will use Save Up every 3 turns. Its a small ATK/MAG buff (you’ll want to dispel it anyways) but, after 3 uses of this move, he will use Big Release, an AoE physical nuke that will inflict a plethora of status ailments. Hopefully, you brought a way to get rid of those (i.e. Rikku’s Pouch). After you hit the boss with an esper, you get one turn to recuperate and hit him as hard as you can (his imperil only lasts for 1 turn). He won’t retaliate during that turn. Things play relatively simply until he reaches 60% HP. After that threshold, the TH Drag will use his Save Up ability every two turns, upgrades Big Release to Release ALL, will use Dragon’s Voice every 3 turns instead of every 4, and will use both his lightning/dark magic and his ice/light magic in one turn, every turn. Keep your resists up as best as you can and keep track of the amount of times he used Save Up. You don't want to get hit with Release All without any mitigation since he follows up with his normal attack rotation right after. Keep up the esper spam through all of this and you should be good!
And that’s it! This trial can take a long time, even when you’re spark chaining. Just don’t lose track of Save Up or your buffs; if you get caught without your tank tanking (I’m guilty of this ;-;) you’re going to get wiped. To be frank, this fight is very RNG heavy because of the esper orbs and Eiko herself. Sometimes, you’ll get the bar you need to save yourself from death, other times you won’t and you get wiped. Get past that, though, and you should be fine! Good luck!

Abyssal Expedition of AFK Arena
The Abyssal lobby was pretty fun. It was a totally unique event, with different systems, gatherings, and supervisors. There was an extraordinary arrangement to take in, and each seemingly insignificant detail about it was new to the point that very few had a savvy considered how to beat it until a few days.
Fortunately, that was the first. Like they clearly state about sustaining, it's simply frightening the initial go through in light of the fact that you don't have the foggiest thought what you're doing. Subsequently, we have the experience, and fortunately, we'll have an authentic duty from all players (in case you do the valuable stone enrollment thing), so this time it will be unimaginable.
Anyway, why am I making this post? Taking everything into account, there's a lot of ground to cover in this event. It's an abuse of perseverance to use your full LB meta bunch in a weak spot, and fortunately, you don't have to! Here are a couple of clues, tricks, and holy people I'd suggest executing into your strategies:
1. Use as barely any holy people as possible in a fight.
In profound, there's a perseverance meter for each holy person. They start off with 60 energy and gain 4 reliably. Most battles require 12 energy from every legend needed to start, and you get some back by beating the stage with specific conditions. One star if you beat it, a star if nobody kicks the basin in the battle, and a star if you win inside 30 seconds of the start. Each star you get gives both of you energy back, which implies you can net an insufficiency of only six energy.
In any case, here's a fascinating point: you could use four legends in a battle to get three stars on a battle, or use one holy person to two-star it (if you win a presentation, the base is two stars since you'd lose in case someone kicked the can). Beyond question, the four holy people lose less energy autonomously, anyway you'll for the most part lose 24 energy, instead of losing 8 by soloing it. Especially if it's a holy person you wouldn't routinely use in a gathering comp regardless, it's legitimized, in spite of any difficulty to solo it at whatever point you can. (But in the event that it requires 3 legends to one star when you understand you can three-star with five, by then it's a lack of 30 energy regardless.)
2. (altered) Have a strong rundown from the earliest starting point.
A huge bit of this event is the respected exemplification. It will in general be used to buy relics, which buff legends in different branches. (More on branches in another tip.) Blessed core is gotten from taking out towns, towns, and metropolitan networks. In any case, the basic buffs from the tree (with respect to HP, atk, def) apparently won't adequately be to rapidly start running your Elite+ and Legendary holy people.
Likewise, my proposal is use your worthy holy people at a high ascending aside from if A, they starting at now work at lower climbs (Mehira for example) or B, they're a director killer (like Cecilia or Saurus). By then, when the branches start showing up at lv 2 or 3 when the detail buffs make climbs basically insignificant, you can start turning out with the E+ youngsters.
Essentially, endeavor to arrange for what holy people you put in your rundown so you can restrict energy use and expand results (dingy deeds done clearance room, I expected to). You simply get 10-25 holy people depending upon your position, so pick wisely!
3. Build your branches, especially the ones you use.
Much equivalent to in the common game, the Abyssal lobby has a tree, with branches that buff the holy people in them. Rather than the standard game, nevertheless, each branch is extraordinary (if its all the same to you buff mage branch). You won't turn out gravely in building any of them, so endeavor to put together the branch you have various legends in, and in case you have any holy people in it, buff the official branch as well (likely the best one of the five). Regardless, you'll in all probability need to update each branch for excursions, and it's essentially a savvy thought to do that regardless. In other words, it isn't so expensive, so what do you need to lose?
4. Encourage with the non military personnel armed force and build normal trust.
This event is surely not an autonomous event. You'll probably be isolated from every other person for the primary day or two, anyway endeavor to connect with various players as quick as could be normal in light of the current situation. Since players that are related can attack wherever connected with a typical like, your social affair will propel course snappier than if there were 70 lines rushed toward the last boss.
On a near note, you'll probably have to work together with someone else to take out your first towns and metropolitan networks since they're so problematic. Just realize that the person who kills the last foe includes the locale that was with everything taken into account struggled for, so make sure to ask concerning whether they need it before you slaughter it after another social affair was by then endeavoring to take it. That is essentially mean. Have the movement to help others before they help you, it will pay off as time goes on since you'll have the alternative to quickly confide in everybody around you. I understand that appears to be a type of kindergarten teacher stuff to express (no offense to any kindergarten educators out there), anyway it's genuine, it caused me out so much the last time and made the event more fun.
So those were the rule tips and beguiles I expected to talk about, as of now for certain holy people I used that were incredible:
Orthros Icon
1. Orthros–clearly they're redoing the tank branch (probably considering the quantity of people complained about Orthros), anyway I figured that if you can't beat em, join em! He was really tanky last time; even at L+, he was killing it! Likely considering the way that risings don't have any kind of effect that much yet whatever.
In a general sense, Orthros has an unapproachable limit where he gets more max HP until he's at 150% of his base, by then retouches 3% of his HP reliably. That doesn't appear to be like an incredible arrangement, yet since he has 1.5 events his greatest HP, it's more like 4.5% of his HP consistently. The tank branch by then extended HP regen considerably, which implies he was retouching basically 7% of his HP consistently. That, close by his ult, which let him recover even in ended time, made him essentially unkillable aside from in the event that you had senseless impacted mischief or Ferael/Oden. Discussing…
Read more about Abyssal Expedition here
Oden Icon
2. Oden–another case of "if you can't beat em, join em." When he was on the adversary side, he genuinely screwed with your gathering. He moves legends into each other, takes their energy, and does massive AoE hurt, especially when he gets his eyes opened.
Plainly, that suggests you can pick up by it by using him in your gathering! Combine him with another AoE unit (like maybe Skriath or… no not going to make reference to him), and you have a wombo combo, dynamic couple, um… torture train, energy get, Bruce Wayne. (what am I sayn'?)
Warek Ascended
3. Warek–so you consider mission Warek? Without a doubt, he kinda sucks to fight against, and you know why. Nonetheless, envision a situation where I uncovered to you that he could do that for you.
Warek on your side with redesignd may is a monster. Imagine him in the mission, yet about twice as incredible and can solo a foe bunch with no issue (so generally imagine him twice as extraordinary, he could starting at now obliterate me). This Madlad can be used at any move considering the base detail buff, yet unmistakably, he will improve a SI and stuff. In other words, you're apparently already using him for manager fights, you should play with him elsewhere.
Estrilda Ascended
4. Estrilda–she's possible the legend that is cleaned the third-most by the ground-breaking tree. Where Warek was a unit, Estrilda is a super unit, with all the AoE she deals and the presence siphon she gains from the tree. Again, you're apparently using her starting at now, yet she can without a very remarkable stretch exhibition fights if you need to quickly move to certain metropolitan networks or a boss.
Rigby Icon
5. Rigby–(Quick aside here, I will let you parents understand that Rigby is my #1 legend in the game. I use him an extraordinary arrangement, so I know a ton about what he can do.) If holy people like Warek and Estrilda got incredible buffs from the might branch, Rigby transforms into a monster with it. Imagine a holy person with 90% damage decline, in excess of 150 dash, and tremendous heaps of life siphon when he's at low HP. Taking everything into account, that is the importance of OP, and you'll unquestionably notice it in case you use him. He can similarly hurt managers, not actually Saurus level yet simultaneously solid as a rule.
That is practically all I require to state on this. I will probably invigorate this post as I experience the event for the resulting time, whether or not to add more tips and tricks or to share some unique legends that my social occasion has had achievement with. I believe this is a good first guide, I plan on adding more here!

April Wrap Up
April was a strange month for me. The first half of the month I killed it in my reading; 8 of the 10 books I read, I read in the first two weeks alone. But the latter half of the month I started school, and the last few days of the month I was traveling, so I had no time or motivation to read (which is also why this wrap up is coming out late).
In terms of stats, this month was rather average in ratings: most of the books were 3 stars, save for a few favorites. In terms of genre, I read 5 fantasies (4 YA and 1 adult), 2 contemporaries, 1 thriller and 2 sci-fi.
So let’s go over what I read in April:
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard (3 starts):
This is the first book in a YA fantasy series; it follows a cast of characters in a fictional world based around elemental magic and wells of power, and it has a pretty entertaining plot and fast paced action.
The first book I liked fine; it’s very fast paced, has some pirates, some assassins, some political intrigue and lots of set up for the world and the series. For the most part it was a fun book, and though I had some issues with the characters and the writing I ended up enjoying it enough to continue with the series.
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (5 stars):
This was Reid’s second novel that I’ve read, and it’s a fictionalized biography of the 70’s band Daisy Jones and the Six. It’s written like a series of interviews with the surviving members of the band and industry people around the band, and it was amazing.
Though not a real band, the Six might as well be; Reid has such a way with writing characters that feel like real people, and this book covers a lot of topics from love, songwriting, art, music, fame, drugs, politics and feminism. It’s an ode to the 70’s in all their drug infused, hippie inspired glory, and it showcases both the good and the bad sides of being an artist and how putting so much soul in your art can create a masterpiece and destroy the lives of its creator. It’s an excellent book and I encourage you to give it a read.
Windwitch by Susan Dennard (3 stars):
Windwitch is the second book in the Witchlands series, and it was about on par with the first. In some aspects I enjoyed it more; there’s a lot more focus on the magic system and the history of the world, and some of the new characters that are introduced are very cool.
However, it also has a rather weak story-line for my favorite character in the series, Safi, and I found that the characterization of some of the folks (ahem, Safi) downgraded, rather than developed further. I still enjoy the series, and I will definitely read Bloodwitch, but this wasn’t the quality level I wanted it to be.
Sightwitch by Susan Dennard (3 stars):
This novella follows Ryber, a secondary character in the main series, and it’s a prequel to the first book. We learn a lot more about the world, specifically the Sightwitches and their monastery and mission, which was very interesting.
In terms of plot, I’m not sure how relevant this would be to read for the series, but in terms of context and world-building, I think it’s essential. If you enjoy Dennard’s writing and the series, you will definitely enjoy this too, so I would encourage you to give it a read.
Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre (3 stars):
This is the first book in a YA sci-fi series which I started expecting a high stakes, fast paced action. What I got instead was a slow, character focused loved story between an alien whale ship and a human girl, and I absolutely loved it.
It’s not a perfect book, and there are some issues with the pacing and especially the first half of the book feeling like it doesn’t belong in the same world as the latter, but for the relationship and character alone, I urge you to read it; I’ve never read anything similar.
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas (5 stars):
This was so far one of my favorite books of the year. On the Come Up follows a teenage girl from Garden Heights who wants to be a rapper, an after winning a freestyle battle she might just get her chance, but as always things are not so simple.
This was absolutely perfect. I loved Thomas’ writing, I loved all the characters, I loved the world, the history of hip-hop, and especially the humor and family relationships. It’s a great book, and I’m so glad I read it, and if you haven’t yet, what are you doing? Just read it.
Honor Roll by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre (4 stars):
Honor Roll is the second book in the Honors series, and it picks up right where the first book left off. In many ways I liked it more than the first; we expand the cast, the stakes are upped, there’s new locations and new revelations about the world, and I loved the development of the relationship between Zara and Nadim.
It wasn’t a perfect book; I had some issues with the writing, and a subplot having to do with New Detroit, but overall I am super excited for book 3, to see how things hopefully get resolved.
An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors by Curtis Craddock (3 stars):
This is the first book in an adult, gunpowder fantasy following Isabelle, a princess and Jean Claude, her musketeer. It was a book that had one of the most complex and well executed plots I’ve ever read, while at the same time being set in a very cool, yet overtly sexist world that rubbed me the wrong way at many points.
If you want to read my incredibly long and incredibly complicated thoughts, here is a link to my review. All I’ll say here, is that I will definitely read the sequel.
Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh (2 stars):
This is the first book in a YA fantasy, where we follow a necromancer trying to figure out who is turning the people she has brought back to life into Shades - mindless zombies.
I didn’t like this book; it was poorly written, badly plotted, and full of unused potential. It was too short for what it wanted to convey, and too surface level to truly explore all the genuinely interesting implications it examines. It has some good depictions of grief and addiction, but that’s also the part I enjoyed reading about the least, so.
The Chalk Man by C J Tudor (3 stars):
The Chalk Man is an adult thriller, that follows a professor who was part of a childhood friend group in the 80’s who found the mutilated body of a young girl. Now, 30 years later, a reminder of his past sets him on a quest to uncover exactly what happened to the girl and who did it.
This was a pretty average thriller. It had some interesting ideas, but it does nothing new, and nothing incredibly surprising. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it, but I do kind of hate that it’s the last book I read in April.

Mass Effect Andromeda Review
The Mass Effect series is one of the most revered and respected gaming brands ever released. The world building, strong characters, paralysing loss of loved characters and story moments that are iconic left a real imprint on the gaming industry. Unfortunately many people choose to remember the ending of the third game, which marred the franchise. Bioware went away for 5 years to deliver a new beginning, loosely linked with the trilogy and set in the Andromeda galaxy.
You play as Sara or Scott Ryder, brother and sister, who are part of the human ark. This ark has been sent on the 600 year journey to the Andromeda universe in search of a new world. The humans are not alone in their journey, as the Turians, Asari and Salarians have also sent arks into Andromeda. Krogans have also made the trip as well as dozens of individuals who went earlier to establish a home base known as the Nexus (think Citdadel). Of course, when you awake as either Sara or Scott, shit has definitely hit the fan, as a giant space phenomenon has crashed through the ark, causing malfunction and your sibling to be put into a long coma. Your job as the Pathfinder’s daughter or son is to check out the first potential home world known as Habitat 7.
While this all sounds very safe and very familiar, it does establish Sara (I played as Sara and haven’t as Scott) as an interesting character that has a variation of approaches. Removed is the renegade and paragon options. This allows much more freedom, rather than committing to one approach, even though you may not agree with all the actions. You are free to make decisions as your character based on how you want them to react to that particular situation. After a terrible incident on Habitat 7, which sees your father killed saving your life, you inherit the prestigious role as the Pathfinder, in charge of finding a new world for the human race to live. This is a huge job and involves difficult choices, putting up with the new galaxy’s politics and also fighting the new enemy and new alien race, the Kett.
As the story continues, there are a number of interesting twists and turns, that introduces new characters to join your squad and offer loyalty missions, similar to Mass Effect 2. While the loyalty missions hold the same purpose, there is no real consequence to not following them through like in the second game, where you would see characters die as a result. The loyalty missions were the best part of the second game, as they gave you a reason to delve deep into your squads history and personal lives. While there are some examples of this in Andromeda, I found the loyalty missions to be very, very, very long and drawn out. They are designed to continue over the course of the entire game. This time around, Andromeda is a 50-70 hour game. I spent 57 hours in the game before I reached the ending credits, still giving 3-4 major side quests unfinished. That was main story, exploration and loyalty missions padding that time out (also a good 3-4 hours of loading I presume). The loyalty missions in Andromeda do boil down again to doing a specific tasks that links and helps a certain character. They can get very fetch quests heavy and in some stages of a few loyalty missions it becomes a planet hopping slog, that got very old and tedious. It still pushes you through as some of the story moments that occur are fantastic.
Your squad again consists of a range of characters with unique outlooks and motivations. Drack, an, old battle scarred Krogan that has fought in many wars and is here in support of his daughter Kesh. Cora, a human who is obsessed (it is unhealthy) with the Asari and saving the Asari Ark. Liam, another human who is in support of the Andromeda initiative and colonising the many planets around Andromeda. Vetra, A turian try hard female Garrus who simply is not as good at calibrating things. Peebee, a quirky Asari, with a big personality who is keen to research and learn about the ancient technology of the Remnant that becomes a big part of the story and why the planets and galaxy are the way they are. Lastly is Jaal, who is a mix of Thane and Garrus from the original trilogy. Jaal is the 1 major new species introduced in the game, other than the kett. The Kadara are a large, unique looking alien that are very spiritual and present the most interesting moments in the game. Jaal is a warrior, who sticks to his beliefs and is interested in learning more about the Milky Way galaxy and why we have come to Andromeda. The cast of characters, are strong, however nothing will compare to the original trilogy’s squad. It puts Andromeda on the back foot straight away.
One major positive of the Andromeda is how open to exploration and discovery the universe is. There are 7 major planets that can be explored and made a viable living space. Every action completed on a planet increases the percentage that the planet is viable. Side quests, clearing hostile wild life, helping the locals with collecting materials and discovery special locations known as Remnant vaults lead to setting up an outposts, which again leads to even more activities and quests. The Remnant vaults are the key to making each planet liveable. This is presented early in the game and completing the Dungeons (vaults) allow the planet to remove the factor that is currently making them uninhabitable. This is explained throughout the story as your progress. Planets that are too hot, too cold, covered in radiation, have electrified water and so on can be repaired by completing the dungeon like vaults. Inside each vault are a number of puzzles that can be solved with the game’s new movement system allowing dashing, jumping and side stepping with a booster pack or simple logic and combat puzzles. The Vaults never out stay their welcome and always offer an interesting and unique gameplay experience that then make life on each of the planets much easier.
As you are working your way through the planets you are going to be engaging in a lot of combat. Way more than the original trilogy. The combat though is very tight and responsive. It may be the best part of the game as every combat scenario is a good mix of challenging and satisfying. The Kett are a pretty standard enemy and will attack you in traditional Mass Effect nature. Hiding behind cover, making use of the environment, flanking and firing off a number of powers challenges you to think quickly, bring the right squad mates and also be mindful when picking your loadouts. The system has changed in Andromeda in which you are no longer locked to choosing and upgrading skills that link to a specific class type. In previous games you were stuck upgrading skills that linked to a soldier, vanguard, sentinel etc. However Andromeda allows you to pick and choose your skills, upgrade them how you see fit and swap them on the fly. If you are struggling in the middle of a challenging fight against a bunch of enemies that have armour, you can upgrade something like incinerate that destroys armour. Struggling against shielded enemies, then upgraded overload or singularity. It really allows a great diversity in every combat situation and ensures that everyone playing the game is going to have a different approach to enemy encounters. As you put upgrade points into your preferred skills you will unlock class types that have particular buffs and skill enhancements based on the upgrades you are using. The more points, the better the class types become. These can also be changed at will from the menus.
Weapons are also very come and go in Andromeda. Mass Effect 3 really slowed down the customisation of weapons and armour, however the huge and expansive crafting system in Andromeda allows a large range of weapons to be crafted and customised to your liking. First you will have to find the resources by planet scanning or mining using the Nomad (yay it’s back) when you are on the many planet’s surface. After which, you can return to your crafting bay on your new ship the Tempest. There are so many variations of weapons that can be built and as you acquire mods and other upgrades weapons can be adapted to buff whatever suits your playing style. The game gives you a lot to play with and tinker with as you advance. Not only can you tinker with all of your skills, classes and weapons, but you can customise your rewards, strike teams and more. These strike teams link to the multiplayer, which returns in similar fashion from the third game. Wave based combat in a group against enemy AI is a fun side challenge and again very rewarding when playing with a group of friends. The strike teams can earn rewards in the single player which unlock minerals for crafting and even weapon modes. These can be completed by your strike teams, which Ryder can organise from her main hub. AVP missions are unlocked as you advance the plot and can impact experience boosts or delivery of goods and rewards.
Andromeda is a deep game with a lot of systems. While they don’t always present themselves in a way that makes sense, it does give you a lot of variation with how the game plays. Unfortunately combat is the primary way most situations are solved. There doesn’t really ever feel like there is a viable workaround in challenging situations where Ryder must make a choice that doesn’t result in violence. Often Ryder will shoot first and ask questions later. There are also not as many memorable choices throughout the game. There are a number of interesting options that at the time seem like they will impact something later on, however most never eventuate. This makes me wonder whether they were intended to be answered or featured in a sequel, a sequel we may never get after negative reviews, bugs, glitches and general negative word of mouth.
Despite the gifs, news stories etc. surfacing about the game’s buggy and glitchy nature. I didn’t really encounter any problems. Considering this is a 70 hour, open world RPG, people have seemingly forgotten how hard it is to bug test games of this nature. We gave Fallout 4 a pass remmeber. The dialogue, facial animation and character issues have been resolved with the many post release patches and as a result give the game a much more polished feel. Clearly EA needed this game out and didn’t feel like delaying it until May. If they did, the game may have been much more successful away from Horizon, the release of the Switch and Zelda. A more rounded, polished experience in a quieter month, may have been what this game needed.
I loved playing Mass Effect Andromeda. The game presented so many fantastic combat scenarios, plenty of laughs from the engaging cast of characters and plenty of surprises when exploring the massive plants. While the story was familiar, safe and often nonsensical, I enjoyed the ride that it presented. The game leaves a lot of questions unanswered and is clearly meant to be the start of a new franchise and I really hope we see the second game at some stage.

WHEPHEW what a busy weekend. journal-blogging it up bc it was a Good one and i wanna remember it
friday after work started with the birthday party for the town multicultural center!! one of my housemates plays in a marching/brass band and they performed at it, everyone drank free margaritas and had chips/salsa/cupcakes, and then we tried to play a pretty unsucessful game of 4-square with some children and made me realize what a difference height makes in that sport (we had to play in like, Ultra Squat position to be on the same level as the kids, so basically Leg Day).
friday night was ALSO the first Bike Party of the year, where everyone puts on costumes for that month’s theme (this one was “safari”), meet up behind the bike shop and the guy with the solar powered speakers on a bike trailer starts playing a bunch of music, and then we bike up and down main st and wave to the tourists and then have a roving dance party around town. usually in the culverts below the roads, under the highway bridge north of town, or along the bike path past the campgrounds (sometimes picking up extra people from the campsites who feel like partyin). generally you get to an area, dance for 30-45minutes, then bike to the next, dance more, etc. VERY EXERCISE I always forget how tiring it is ;_; but this is the last time it’ll be on a friday for a while cause Tourist Season, so it’s probably the last one me and all my housemates could get to together. we wore our matching zebra onesies (that we got for our blanket fort house party back in february) and there were two other zebras also in attendance. another friend dressed up as “the jungle” and i’m jealous I didn’t think of that first. it was VERY COLD THOUGH like FUCK it snowed for twenty whole minutes in the morning. luckily the onesie is pretty warm. but we didn’t bike home till about midnight and i was So Sore the next day
saturday!! i was lazy and slept forever which was Excellent and then in the afternoon, met up with another mermaid visiting from Salt Lake with her family! i met up with her at her hotel and we swam in the pool for like 40 minutes before Noping out because it was cold and just sitting in the hot tub to chat instead lol. it was fun though! i’ve never met up with another mermaid for swimming before (the other time i tried we were rained out, but went to the aquarium instead, which was also super awesome) so that was neat! she had a Kariel sequin tail, which i’ve never seen up close before (40,000 sequins!!!!!), so that was cool.
after that i went to a friends bday party! which started out totally normal (chatting, lots of food, his dad was in town so talked to him a bit), then did a pinata (did u know adults trying to smack a pinata is even more hilarious than than when children do it), then chatted a bit more and at like 10pm people started dancin. except three dudes were sort of alternating selecting songs were like, trying to make the styles as opposing as possible (hardcore rap followed by slow lyrical ballad followed by bouncy disney) and it became kind of a competition to... keep dancing anyway??? no matter how weird the songs got?? culminating in a swaying Hug Circle to My Heart Will Go On, squiggling amoeba-like through the living room and kitchen to envelop Music Selection Dude #2 Who Hated That Song but was standing by the computer and we were worried he was gonna change it, and then everyone just... slowly grabbed his body and held it horizontally, then lifted him into the air and slowly spun him in circles just below the ceiling before gently lowering him onto the floor (where he remained perfectly motionless) and doing synchronized hand waving over his body. IT GOT REALLY WEIRD. but no one questioned it everyone was perfectly silent or singing along to the lyrics until the song ended. what the fuck. i haven’t been part of something That bizarre since college (tho to be fair, there were a Lot of those moments in college). anyway party lasted until a bit after midnight.
TODAY SUNDAY!! at 9am met up with folks to go WHITE WATER RAFTING! it was the going away party for a friend, so we got a bunch of gear together/a pal’s free boat rental for working at a river company, and some personal boats, so 3 boats and about 12 people. second time ive been on the river this season, the first was february and Very cold/total splash guards against the water, but today was the first decent day this week! about 50-60F all day, though the water was a lot colder (although what the fuck is going ON this is the DESERT we should be like in the 70-80s range this time of year). everything went great at first, the rapids were easy, we rafted for a couple hours and then docked at a winery with a helpful pier, and jumped inside for buffet lunch and optional wine tasting. which like, WHAT an excellent concept, i hear they’re doing brunches soon, and whitewater rafting into/out of a fancy brunch seems IDEAL tbh.
...buuuuut we got to the first rapid after the winery/last rapid we were gonna hit of the day and just. totally flipped. we lost back left paddler (who took a drink of wine from his beer can like RIGHT as we went into the rapid smh) almost immediately, and i turned to see what happened to him (i was back right), and noticed that our captain/acting guide was just ALSO GONE??? I still don’t know HOW he fell out i guess he just catapulted on the first big wave... everyone (sans myself) was pretty drunk and at high water level (~15,000cfs) you can go straight through (or, RDTFM, aka “right down the fucking middle”, thats ur whitewater lingo for the day), but it was only at like ~8000cfs today so instead there was just... a rock. so chuck (acting captain) pops up a second later and manages to grab the boat, i haul him in, turn around to see charlie (back left paddle) somehow on the other side of our raft now floating the rapid, and two of the front paddlers trying unsuccessfully to reach him.
then i look forward and OH GOD there is ANOTHER huge dip in front of us leading to aforementioned rock, and I sort of leapt to the left side/charlie’s spot to try to paddle off it, but no one was paying enough attention to coordinate and so we slammed it and the boat went riiiiiiight over. like, the most dramatic long-ways flip i’ve ever seen, threw/shoved us all down into the water. mostly i was thinking “OH FUCK” but also “SHOULDN’T HAVE BOTHERED PULL CHUCK BACK IN”, was under for maybe 5 seconds total, then popped up right behind the raft. pretty much everyone managed to hold onto the tie line and somehow i guess we also landed on charlie again so he had a hold as well. until we hit the next rock anyway, which popped the boat up for a second/swept me underwater and under the boat, and i ended up hand-over-handing it out onto the front side. which was easier for visibility/expectations but also i could see 10 feet in front of me that my backpack had come unsecured and was floating down the river without me, holding my phone (thankfully in a lifeproof/very waterproof case bc i’m not a Fool who takes electronics on rafting trips with no backup) and driver’s license and glasses hostage. and like 80% of me was ready to dive after it but while i’m an idiot i’m not That much of an idiot so i held onto the boat instead and watched it get farther and farther off. the first of our boats that went through (a dinghy with two passengers) was waiting for us downstream and seemed like they were gonna get it, but then one of our people got swept way downstream so they were on mission Rescue Susan instead. but anyway after a very charged minute or so that felt more like ten, we managed to kick ourselves into an eddy and get over to the shore.
at which point i became very confused bc our group now had 3 more people in it than were in our boat??? which is when i realized that our third boat, whcih had been behind us, had also capsized and dunked all passengers. but theirs was still trapped in the current (for like 5 whole minutes just bouncing on top of the first big rapid) so they all swam sans gear to where we ended up. anyway i sloshed to a nearby beach where some concerned rafters were watching (turned out to be our #3 boat guide’s coworkers, who’s company we were renting gear from, whoops), and over a ridge, and saw that boat #1 had sucessfully reclaimed susan, and a kind kayaker had saved both my backpack and one of our paddles. we dried off for a bit and checked everything over miraculously, the only casualties were some hats and sunglasses, one item per every person who flipped. the river gods were kind in their choice of sacrifices today. then we boated the last mile out and lay in the sand warming up until our car shuttle finished, and my friend who’s bday party i went to the night before & his gf & dad boated up RIGHT after us (they were also all at the multicultural center event friday) and laughed at us for having flipped. ah tiny desert towns. you see Everyone everywhere all the time. and i’ll see them again on wednesday for D&D so more mockery inbound.
anyway i got home and me n my roommate (also on the trip) took some VERY long/hot showers, drank some hot chocolate, and then watched cop drama tv shows in bed under the covers for 2 hours before ordering takeout soup and laying in bed some more. now i am laying in bed and about to go to sleep bc i’m exhausted but apparently still enough of an insomniac to never go to bed before midnight.
#ramblings#long post#a lot happened!!! so busy and also now im So Tired#sleeeeeeeeeeep time#wanderings#Colorado plateau wanderings#

Big Bare Bear on gaming: ME:A
Mass Effect: Andromeda this time it’s… I dunno something.
First thing that went through my head when I read there was going to be a sequel to the final installment of the Mass Effect series was ‘well I hope it fixes everything that the last one broke’. I’m not going to get into Mass effect 3’s ending or the furore that followed its release. You know why? Because, it has been done to death, dissected, reanimated, killed and then dissected again. Personally as a writer I was disappointed in the story, more because they promised us that our choices would matter, but they didn’t their endings invalidated everything we had done. Also because, well it didn’t make much sense as a story.
Anyhow, I knew I would have to play MEA because I am Bioware’s bitch. I love RPG’s and these guys do pretty darn good ones. Ok, they ain’t all great but you can usually count on them for a solid game. Which, when you think on how much their games cost to buy: between around £45-£60 / $50-£70 for standard depending on where you buy, it may be possible to get it cheaper I ain’t done the market research to be sure. Slightly off point now, my point was when I shell out that kind of cash I want value for my fucking money!
Multiplayer
My first experiences with MEA were on the multiplayer section. I have friends who love shooters and love to team up. So for the first two weeks I played multiplayer only, I haven’t actually finished the storyline single player mode yet, but I have several max level multiplayer toons. The multiplayer is quite similar to Mass Effect 3’s, which was a damn fun game. Quick paced, small maps which means you need some fast reflexes. A wide variety of classes to suit everyone’s tastes. My particular favourites are the Asari Adept and the Krogan… anything (melee and Krogans is just fun). There hasn’t been much change powers wise, a few new classes but nothing groundbreaking, except for...jump-jets.
The jump-jets are just plain fun, you ping around like a flea and can hover while aiming to snipe as you gently fall. Not only that, pressing melee while jumping causes you to plunge downwards like some Marvel superhero and land with an AOE splash that just looks and feels awesome. This is very very different to Mass Effect 3 where you were nailed to the god damned floor. It is so freeing and adds a new layer to what would be a fairly bland remake without it.
The guns are fairly...ok I guess, nothing mold breaking or new really. There is one other new thing and that is dash, or dodge. Pressing it makes your character charge forward, or sideways. It is wonderful for sliding into cover or jumping quickly out of trouble. Alternatively there is something fulfilling about dashing forward as a krogan and headbutting your enemy into oblivion. It again adds something new and good to an established and solid platform. (I actually didn’t learn how to use it until I started playing the single player game. There I was forced to by boss fights which are not too tough...once you learn to fucking get out of the way.)
Unfortunately there is one word that casts a shadow over multiplayer and that is ‘microtransactions’. In ME3 multiplayer you leveled up classes, say engineer you got your human to 20 and then when you opened that rare salarian engineer card you could automatically get your new character all the way to max and try him out. Now not only do you need to find the card (very frustrating as many boxes just contain guns or random boosts or augments), you need to take the character from 1-20 and you need to find that same card 10 FUCKING TIMES!. That is what you need to do to get your favourite class to max level. I have a couple of level 20’s that I love playing but they will never be complete until I grind my way through thousands of matches...or open my wallet (over my dead fucking body Bioware, you already got my money) and then get really fucking lucky.
Single-player Story Mode
So now to the story and RPG part of the game, I will try to keep this review spoiler free as I think the fun in these games is experiencing the story yourself. However I can talk about the stuff you all know. This story is both 600 years after ME3 and at the same time between ME2 and ME3. The basic premise is that before ME3 the races of the Milky Way discovered a cluster of habitable worlds in the Andromeda galaxy. Obviously they couldn’t just sit there knowing there was all these worlds going to waste so they built a new version of the Citadel, called the Nexus and shoved it off. The Nexus was followed by 4 Arks (a human one, asari one, turian one and salarian one with other races arks to follow the quarians are mentioned as coming next and bringing other races with them). The Krogans do go along on the Nexus as security forces so never fear those of you who love those big chunky quad swinging badasses.
However, this change has a big impact, in that the biodiversity of the universe of MEA is greatly reduced. A list of aliens that are currently missing in my playthrough :batarians, drell, volus, elchor, vorcha, geth, quarians, hanar, reapers and I suppose technically the protheans as there was one. In their place are the Angara and Kett… yes despite this part of the universe being rich in ‘golden worlds’, only two alien species exist. The Kett who are the mysterious antagonist and the angaran who are the down trodden good guys (and who the game really really wants you to like and constantly compares to the krogan, because they know we all love krogan. This lack of diversity makes Andromeda feel so much smaller and less epic than the original galaxy. The little bits of universe building, that were so prevalent throughout MEs 1-3 are greatly reduced, no Elchor Shakespeare, no Volus biotic gods… it makes the game less immersive and for an RPG immersion is a vital component of greatness. *honest sad tones* I miss the Elchor and their unique speech patterns.
(mild spoiler warning from here on, though I will not be going into heavy detail)
You star as the ‘pathfinder’ and your job is to find viable worlds. Arriving on the human ark which is about a year late and yet the only ark that made it so far. The ark crash into this weird interstellar web thing called ‘the Scourge’ (some writer really pulled a muscle thinking up that great and unique name).
The human ark arrives after a 600 year journey (blissfully sleeping through the abomination of ME3’s ending), to find the Nexus in disarray, because none of the others arks arrived and they had no pathfinders. Your father is actually the pathfinder, but he dies early on and gives the role to you, someone who was just a soldier and not trained as a pathfinder.
I want to take a second to point out how stupid this is. When you arrive on the Nexus you find that they have utterly failed to establish any colonies and a huge part of this is blamed on the fact the arks didn’t turn up and they therefore had no pathfinders. 1) if pathfinders were so vital why didn’t they have a couple on the Nexus, 2) you are not trained as a pathfinder so really you should fail too. and 3) after nobody showed up for years why didn’t they train someone up as one if they are that bloody essential? You inherited your position when your daddy died. I hate chosen one storylines, and this has heavy overtones of being fated to save the galaxy crap.
Anyway it is what it is, a very poorly thought out mechanic to make the galaxy your responsibility. In honesty the story doesn’t feel that clunky and it moves along ok. However, for me those early stages felt kinda jarring because the needs of the game heavily stamp the narrative into an unnatural shape. You get your team really quickly in fact by the time you finish the first world you have all but one and you get him on the second world. None of that pesky slow building and getting to know them through gameplay while you explore alien worlds, just here they are deal with it.
You find that the scourge has made all those golden worlds pretty much uninhabitable. However, fortunately each world also has some ancient terraforming machine left there so all you have to do is fight your way in, switch it on and then plant the flag. There is some story that goes alongside this, but essentially each planet has that similar theme.
The story with the Angarans is they are the native species, the Kett turned up one day as aliens and conquered them, the Angaran resistance fights back. There isn’t a lot of detail I can share without getting into heavier spoiler territory.
Negatives of the narrative aside, I actually am very much enjoying the single player game. The quests move at a reasonable pace, it is up to you if you do all the side quests or just barrel through the main questline. I like to complete everything on each world before moving on, so I have only actually completed the first 3 worlds.
Your team is not too bad. You get one of everything pretty much. Drack the krogan is my favourite (big surprise huh?) He has the best lines. While on the planets you have a pretty sweet vehicle that can be ungraded. I enjoy driving it, unlike pretty much all vehicles in the Mass Effect universe this thing can actually move and steer. It also has two modes, high speed mode for flat and high traction to get up hills. With thrusters and jump jets it is a fun ride and makes getting from mission to mission a joy and not a chore.
Overall I would have to say this is a solid enjoyable game, it was well worth the cost. It is not the near perfect game that ME2 was. I haven’t got to the ending yet to find out if they fucked it up as badly as they did ME3, I suspect not. They are playing it safe with this game, all the top species and a very safe basic functional story.
Last word I know some of you will want to know about the gay romance options. Honestly I don’t play these games for the love story, because as a writer of erotica I know where to go for a good love story. However, from what I have seen...meh they could have done way better and way worse. If you are looking for a good romance story just ask and I’ll send some recommendations*.
Seriously last word, I have to mention the glitches. They are many and varied there has been some patches that remove the more insane ones...sadly the removed the one that allowed up to seven Dracks on your ship. They do kind ruin the immersion, but honestly they are not too bad now and the story, as already stated, kinda hinders the immersion anyway so why not enjoy a chuckle or too at Bioware’s expense.
Super seriously last word...bye.

So FINALLY I get to show these two pieces off.
The originals can be found on my DeviantART here and here:
http://fav.me/dau0alj
http://fav.me/dau0fpy
After doing a lot of the art for Renegade Rhetoric and Echoes and Fragments, I was on a GoBots high…probably mostly because before all this I knew little to nothing about GoBots, so it was fun breaking into something new and being a part of breathing new life into this underdog franchise. I had expressed to Jim Sorenson my overly ambitious goal to eventually draw and redesign every GoBots character, if for no other reason, just for fun. Eventually Jim approached me with just the opportunity, except for something actually canon…so that was a huge plus. He told me that Andrew Hall was interested in a huge poster of literally everybody from GoBots…so I was down.
While it still wasn’t exactly clear WHAT the poster would be used for, the project evolved into a set of two posters: one for all the Guardians and one for all the Renegades. And more specifically, they were to homage the “Goodbye Convoy” and “Goodbye Megatron” posters that came with the respective gift sets.
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/10-jpg.27332166/
So my mission was to complete both of these posters, include every GoBots character, and makes them all recolors/retools of existing Transformers designs so as to avoid any copyright/trademark fiascos. (Actually, any Hasbro-owned design was at my disposal, though I was able to manage sufficiently within the realm of Transformers.) Oh, and the amount of time I originally had to complete the posters decreased significantly, offering me only two months to complete them both. (And having a family, full-time job, and not being an amazingly quick/efficient artist made this quite the challenge.) But I sold my soul, and got to work…and HOO BOY did I work, but - dear fragging Primus - I actually did it! Finished each one in exactly a month…and I must say that these posters have been my most grandiose artistic undertakings, and I was quite astounded and impressed with myself for actually completing something so damn huge AND doing it on time (OK, well…each one went like a day over my deadline, but whatevs :P) Drained as I was at the end of it all, I was also at the same time super invigorated to start doing some more art to help out with Beast Wars: Uprising, and my confidence in myself as an artist had increased drastically. Also, with the enormity of these projects, everything after that seemed thoroughly achievable. (Oh, and I later found out these posters would actually be used in the Spatiotemporal Challengers finale…so that was really exciting…and then literally 10 minutes before the story went live, they were apparently cut from the story. But Jim was still so kind to use them for Renegade Rhetoric. So either way, I’m still quite enthused!)
But I won’t get into everything else regarding my adventures doing Fun Pub art right now. The focus of this post is on the GoBots posters and some things I’d like to share about them.
So I did a ton of research and did my best to include every (or nearly every) GoBots character in these two posters. I made sure to include every Guardian and Renegade from the Challenge of the GoBots cartoon (including show-exclusive characters) as well as every toy-exclusive character as well - and not just the ones from the “main” toy line, but the obscure, miscellaneous ones as well. I specifically begged Jim to include Scooter Bot (which he fortunately supported), so I threw in the other weirdos like “AM Radio”, “Laser Gun”, “Trans AM”, and the other non-RoGun Arco GoBots. Considering these guys were factionless, Jim and I had to group them accordingly…so they’ve now been sorted onto their appropriate for these posters. We also agreed that the model kit character “Turbo Teen” was TOO weird to justifiably include, so he’s been left out.
Jim said I didn’t HAVE to include Rock Lords, Jewel Lords, and Fossil Lords, but I was feeling REALLY ambitious (and I’m a self-destructive completionist at heart), so I did my best to include them. In the end though, due to time restraints and the fact that it would visually be very difficult to include THAT many additional characters that weren’t even GoBots proper, only the major ones made the cut. Boulder, Nuggit, and Magmar were the most significant Rock Lords, so they got to squeeze their way into this cacophony, and Solitaire was the representative Jewel Lord. Sadly, none of the Fossil Lords or Narlies made it.
Regrettably, its been several months since I’ve finished these posters, and I’ve very recently discovered some more super obscure characters from play sets and other merchandise that I would’ve included had I known about them previously. There’s A-Tak from the HO Train Set, the little dude from the Mystery Tunnel Roller Coaster, the four different colored Bubble Blowers, the 3-in-1 Communication System, and some little guy that literally turns into the GoBots logo. (OK, so that one would probably have been too weird to use too…but still.) I’m sure one day I’ll draw them, though.
Now more specifically regarding everyone I did draw, I’ve compiled a guide to who’s who and what bodies they’re modeled after. Also to note, in order to resemble the original GoBots characters as much as I could beyond just a paint job, I chose different heads from OTHER Transformers characters that most resembled the original heads of the GoBots characters…or at least the ones that most readily came to mind when I referenced the GoBots characters’ original designs.

Additional notes:
Anyone who had already been given a design in Spatiotemporal Challengers kept it.
With Courageous, Grungy, and Nemesis…due to the fact that they’re really just combining battle suits rather than the characters themselves actually combining, it wouldn’t have really carried over properly to represent them as recolored Transformers Combiners. But instead, since they all have vehicles modes as well, we found some TF molds that fit the bill decently enough. And since the Sky Sweeper is made up of Combiner kibble, the design still hints at the notion of combining. And using the Bumblebee Battle Suit for Nemesis carried the whole…well, battle suit theme. So I think those worked out pretty well.
While it it’s PRETTY difficult to tell in the poster, Scales in actually in Thrust’s “3-wheeled robot mode”…since that would be more fitting for Scales than having legs. In a similar vein, Rumble and Blast are in Blastcharge’s “wheels-for-legs” robot mode.
Tic Toc and Gong display a little Easter egg. Tic Toc diplays 10:29 1984, which (after Jim and I did some digging to make sure it was actually accurate despite other reported information) is the original air date of the first episode of the Challenge of the GoBots cartoon. Also his pose is lifted from the 12th Doctor’s iconic stock pose. Gong’s display date of 10:27 1986 is (according to Vector Prime) the air date of “season 2” of Challenge of the GoBots, as recounted by Cy-Kill himself in Renegade Rhetoric. To parallel Tic Toc’s pose, I wanted to give Gong an iconic pose of The Master…but there doesn’t really seem to be one. But I did kind of use this as reference:

Oh, also I’m an idiot and just noticed a couple days ago that I didn’t color Geeper-Creeper’s right arm all the way. I’ll fix that eventually.
But I guess that’s about everything I can think of currently that worth mentioning about this project. It was quite a momentous undertaking, but it was a blast to do, and I’m super grateful to Jim, Andrew, and Fun Pub for giving me the opportunity to do it!

Answering the Question: Is Save the World worth buying just for V-bucks to spend in Battle Royale?
Hey r/fortnitebr,
I see a lot of people asking if STW is worth it compared to V-Buck prices, and I have to share my 11-day experience with you guys just to give you an idea of how many V-Bucks the game really gives.
11 days ago the game was 19.99$ and me and 2 of my friends bought it immediately. Our primary goal was to get the Battle Pass for Season 3, and in this post I'll give you a breakdown of how Save the World gives you VBucks.
•Are V-Bucks from Save the World usable in Battle Royale?
YES. Vbucks are Vbucks, you can use them in either game.
•How long after purchasing STW did it take you to buy the Battle Pass for Season 3?
6 hours of gameplay, I could've done it quicker if I knew what to do. But surely, by the end of the day, I had my Battle Pass ready with 50 more Vbucks to spare.
•How many Vbucks does STW give?
Let's break it down.
1.Login Bonuses
You get the following rewards just for logging in. These rewards are pretty damn good imo.
Save the World: Login Bonuses
Day 11 – 50 V-Bucks
Day 28 – 300 V-Bucks
Day 35 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 49 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 56 – 300 V-Bucks
Day 70 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 77 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 84 – 300 V-Bucks
Day 91 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 98 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 105 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 112 – 800 V-Bucks
Day 119 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 126 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 133 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 140 – 300 V-Bucks
Day 147 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 154 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 161 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 168 – 300 V-Bucks
Day 175 – 150 V-Bucks
Day 182 – 150 V-Bucks
EDIT: These login bonuses don't reset if you miss a day. They pick up from where you left.
2.Daily Quests: APART FROM THAT, you get Daily Quests that take about 15-20 minutes to complete that give you 50 Vbucks every day. Daily missions stack upto three just like Battle Royale.
3.Other Challenges: There are "Storm Shield Missions" and other side challenges that also give you 100 or 50 Vbucks.
4.Collection Book: There is a "Collection Book" in STW where you can permanently slot bad/duplicate heroes, weapons, etc for rewards. A few of these are straight up 500 Vbucks rewards, you can read the full list here. The list has changed somewhat, but it'll give you an idea of the Vbuck income.
•Do skills from STW carry over to Battle Royale?
Just the building. Combat is way too different and interesting, in the sense that you have heroes with abilities and stuff. The game is grindy though after a while, but still a hell lotta fun.
•How many Vbucks have you made?
3100 Vbucks in 11 days, excluding the Battle Pass I got for 950.
EDIT: Total 4100 at the end of 11 days.
•How does STW compare to Store Vbucks in terms of prices?
I definitely feel STW is better if you don't want to go for the higher packages of Vbucks, especially when 50% off (which it isn't currently).
If you play BR a lot and just want the Battle Pass and don't like STW, the 1000 Vbuck deal is better for you.
•When will STW be free?
Sometime in 2018, we still don't know when.
•Is Save The World good?
I equally loved it and Battle Royale. I love the pressure/paranoia in Battle Royale, while I love the open style tower-defense in Save the World.
There are some problems with the game, just like there are with Battle Royale, but I'm having a total blast. You have hoverboards (first Fortnite vehicle), all kinds of swords and axes, laser weapons, all weapons from BR, great characters, and most importantly it is a completely different game from BR, but in the same world. A great change of pace after a long BR session.
You might want to check some gameplay on Youtube before going for it.
I definitely think I got value for money with the 19.99$ purchase. HOWEVER, if you don't enjoy it, grinding for Vbucks can become a chore.
•You bought it at 19.99$. Is it worth 39.99$ though?
That is up to you. Check the gameplay, understand the game, and if you think it's your thing, go for it!
However if you're the kind of person who wants a skin every few days, the grind may not be worth it and you should probably go for the higher Vbucks packages at this point. As I said, if you don't like the game, grinding it can become a chore easily.
How do you pay for Save the World?
One time payment via Credit Card or Paypal (I used Paypal).
Hope this post helps.
Thanks for reading and thank you Epic for two amazing games!

My year in games - 2017 (First half)
For the past few years, my interest in games had been dwindling. Despite the long list of games I played in 2016, only a few lasted me very long and only a couple I found gripping enough to play more than an hour at a time. 2017 so far has had no less than 5 such games in which hours melted away while playing them. Here are the games I’ve played so far this year:
Batman: A Telltale Game Series (PS4, Beat game once) - I received this for Christmas. It’s my first Telltale game since I generally don’t enjoy interactive stories, and I found it pretty decent but not great. First off, the game on the PS4 is marred by absolutely horrible glitches. The game full on crashed no less than 5 times throughout my playthrough, and one option on the main menu (the one that lets you review your choices) causes the game to softlock without fail every time. With that being said, the story the game tells is pretty decent and different for a Batman game with there being more Bruce Wayne than usual. While I liked that aspect of the story, the Bruce Wayne presented here felt almost too...nice. Like, I found it hard to believe he could be Batman even in his darker moments. Also, I can’t confirm this without replaying the game, but I left feeling like my choices basically didn’t matter and the game was essentially funneling towards the same conclusions every time.
Planet Coaster (PC, Spent 70 hours on one park) - Planet Coaster is the closest anybody has come to making a truly great, powerful, but relatively simple to use theme park builder. The management aspects of the game when I last played back in January left much to be desired and there were numerous annoyances I had with placing objects and with limited ride choices, but overall I was able to make what I felt was a beautiful park over the course of 70 hours.
Overwatch (PC, Spent 5 hours in Private Matches) - Yes, I finally got the game everybody and their mom has been talking about. I’m generally not a FPS fan, but I did like Team Fortress 2 for its variety of classes, and Overwatch very much feels like an expansion of TF2′s idea. With a wide variety of fun characters, you’re bound to pick a few you like. Overall, the game is great fun with friends. However, I haven’t played it as much as I’d like given I don’t want to play with randoms online because I suck.
Rocket League (PC, Spent 2 hours in Private Matches) - Bought this for a LAN party. It’s fun for a few insane hours with friends and the variety of game modes keeps things interesting. Ultimately though, I did get tired of it. It seems like a game best taken in small doses.
Gravity Rush 2 (PS4, Spent 30 hours beating the game and side missions, spent another 30 hours goofing around) - Much like its predecessor, Gravity Rush 2 is a game I love so much more than the sum of its parts. It improves the combat from the original game by weakening your main gravity kick forcing you to rely on multiple other moves, adds more enemies, and new styles for attacking. Flying around and controlling gravity is a blast. However, not everything is perfect: there’s a few missions where you’re in tight quarters and the camera becomes a nightmare. It also has terrible stealth missions, and they are numerous. The game is fun overall, but certainly doesn’t use its gravity flipping mechanics to their full potential. Other than that, though, the environments are very pretty, large, and well realized: I’d dare say the cities of Jirga Para Lhao and Hekseville are two of my favorite locations in all of gaming and I enjoyed just wandering around taking in the sites.
The story is very fragmented and feels more like a bunch of different seasons of a show condensed and often has plot holes that don’t make a whole lot of sense, but it does a great job of building characters you care about. By the end of the game and the series, Kat and Raven pretty much became my favorite characters in any game because they were well realized, had arcs, and were overall just fun to be around. Raven especially gets a shoutout because the game’s great partner AI actually does some of the character building for her. Too often in games, you get a simple partner that helps you attack enemies around you and not much else. Raven actively helps you achieve your goals: need to pick up 7 people and take them to a location but can only pick up 2 at a time? No worries, Raven will split up and take a few herself. Need to sneak into a base, but there’s two guards in the way? You attack one and she’ll automatically attack the other. Start a super attack on a boss? She’ll notice and if she’s not tied up fighting another enemy, she’ll join you. It seems so simple, but it’s amazing how often things like this don’t really happen in other games. It actually made me miss her the few times she’d step aside in the story.
The side missions also do a great job of giving you great nuggets of story, sort of like breather filler episodes in a TV show. However, ultimately my love of the game really boils down to the final two hours of the game being absolutely phenomenal. What it lacks in fully satisfying answers to questions it more than makes up with great gameplay and unbelievably satisfying character development. I’ve never been more satisfied with the ending of a game in my life, and it is to date the only game to ever make me cry. Oh, and the soundtrack is among the best ever.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch, Spent 100 hours beating the game and every shrine along with other sidequests) - You know, ask anybody what they think about this game and they’ll pretty much all start listing the things they don’t like. For me, it’s the rain. It’s irritating and flat out denies you progressing at points. The weapon durability, while not a bad idea, can also be irritating. The dungeons, while a neat idea, could really stand to be longer and more fleshed out. The final boss is too easy.
After they’ve finished listing their qualms, though, everybody pretty much says the same thing: “but other than that, it’s perfect.” Breath of the Wild is a game in which you almost never actively think about how great it is while playing it, but come to appreciate it more and more when you go to play other games. I never once thought “Oh my God, this game is amazing” and yet I also rarely had a play session last shorter than 4 hours. For somebody who rarely can pay attention to a single game for more than an hour at a time, I cannot stress how engaging a game has to be for me to sit down and play it for 4 hours at a time, and yet this happened constantly for about 2 weeks straight with Zelda. Combat is simple, but always satisfying as you’re constantly reading attacks and waiting to get that perfect dodge to activate flurry rush. One of my favorite things to do in open world games is explore, but one of my least favorite things to do is constantly backtrack. The huge number of shrines (which are great in their own right) means I can explore to my heart’s content, but almost always just fast travel wherever I want whenever I want. I cannot stress how much the fast travel system and climbing has ruined other games for me: it feels so liberating to be able to go anywhere quickly. The world is full of interesting characters and things to see despite how vast it is. It’s an achievement.
In the past, I’ve found the story in Zelda games to be pretty weak. They seem like the good basis for a plot, but outside of a few exceptions (Midna, Hilda, Spirit Tracks Zelda) failed to have truly good characters with solid arcs. I’ve seen many people complain about the story in Breath of the Wild probably because its mostly told through short optional memories and hidden diaries, but honestly, I think it’s heads and shoulders better than any story the series has told so far. It’s a story that’s truly about the Legend of Zelda: it’s about how the characters respond to the burden of having to live up to the legend and I find that to be an absolutely brilliant idea. I don’t want to get too deep into spoilers, but Nintendo said in one of their behind the scenes videos that their goal was to make Zelda “a character worth saving” and I feel they definitely succeeded. BotW’s Zelda is easily the best character in the entire series with a full satisfying arc.
Simply put, the game is amazing. Buy it.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch, Spent 95 hours playing an enhanced version of a game I played 250 hours of) - Mario Kart 8 is my favorite Mario Kart. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is for the most part, a better version of my favorite Mario Kart. I was at first irritated about having to rebuy this game because I was afraid I wouldn’t want to play it very much. However, the portability of the Switch quickly took that thought out of my mind as I’ve been able to play with people at work on my breaks and bring it over for LAN parties. The game’s full of great tracks, great music, and great racing. The changed item balance makes racing near the front of the pack much more fun and less frustrating since you can’t get screwed over by coins as much. However, the middle of the pack is now Hell due to the double item system so it’s a bit of a trade off. Overall though, I find myself having to think more while racing in MK8DX: thinking about whether there’s double item boxes up ahead, whether I should save my item or risk it to try to get a new item, whether I want to hold this coin for a boo to take or not, and so on which I think makes it more engaging than vanilla 8.
Also, the new Battle Mode doesn’t suck.
Star Trek Bridge Crew (PSVR, Spent 3 hours total between online and single player) - I wanted to like this game more than I do because I like VR and I like Star Trek. The core idea of the game is interesting: you and 3 other people team up to take different positions on the bridge of a Starfleet vessel and go on a mission. Indeed, in the one match I played online with random people, this idea was fun...except there’s the fundamental flaw that other people are awful and will ruin everything. In my case, I got to listen to a guy hit on the female NPCs on the bridge for 30 minutes and divide them up on who on our crew would get who. It completely ruined the game experience for me and I felt embarrassed to be playing.
There is a single player mode in which you’re just the captain, but it feels kind of boring. It wasn’t long before the siren song of Mario Kart pulled me away from this. I’ll probably return to it some day, though, since I still have plenty of missions left to try.
Nier Automata (PC, Spent 35 hours getting endings A-X and Z, as well as side quests) - This is a game I hadn’t heard of until Kotaku staff members mentioned in a post in late 2016 how it was a game they were really looking forward to for 2017. The demo for it went up on the Playstation store at the same time as the Gravity Rush 2 demo so I figured “why not?” Turns out the demo was fucking amazing, but I decided to wait until it was cheaper to buy since I had other games to play.
For those unaware, Nier Automata is an action RPG that is also a platformer, a topdown shooter, hack and slash, shooter, and whatever else it Goddamn pleases to be at any given moment. Somehow, despite these shifts in gameplay, it manages to be mostly competent in all of them. However, after an excellent prologue (as seen in the demo) in which it constantly shifts perspectives to keep things fresh, it becomes open world and spots shifting as much which I found to be disappointing as it was the thing that sold me on the game. It’s also the first open world game I played after playing Breath of the Wild, and so going back to feeling restricted to having to walk to fast travel points, not having fast travel unlocked until partway through the story, and having to backtrack quite a bit was a shock. It’s not bad at these things, but the lack of freedom was something I wouldn’t have noticed had it not been for Zelda. Combat is fun, but can feel repetitive. It’s fast and frantic which I enjoy, but the perfect dodge system feels a bit too easy to spam meaning I don’t have to think about each individual encounter the way I do in Zelda.
The story is difficult to talk about without going into spoilers, but I felt it was mostly great with a few moments of utter brilliance mixed in with some moments of frustration. I do care about the characters and the voice acting is surprisingly well done, but the game I felt alternated between great twists and plot developments I could see coming from 20 miles away. It’s hard to get into without spoilers, but to me, it also had a habit of undermining its most emotional moments with weird bits of execution. Near the end (well, third and fourth ending. It’s complicated), I felt the story started to rely on tropes I don’t particularly care for which started hurting my enjoyment of it, although its ultimate conclusion (the 5th ending. Again, complicated) was very satisfying. It’s a very dark story, but somehow manages to balance it very well with a surprisingly great sense of humor.
Overall, solid game.
And that does it. Thank God I split this year in half, or else I’d still have to talk about Splatoon 2, Sonic Mania, Metroid Samus Returns, Sonic Forces, and Super Mario Odyssey. Plus there’s the games I may wait to get until things have died down like Horizon Zero Dawn and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Did I mention this year was a great year for video games? Because it’s a great year for video games.
