2x10 Survival of the Fittest – 6.5/10
2x08 Spacewalker – 4/10
Season 2 overall – 8.38/10
By comparison, season 1 had the overall ratings of 7.54/10. (Season rankins and ratings are in this post.) Not a surprise - I liked season 1, but season 2 was a massive improvement and possibly the best season of the show... or at least one of the two, so far - it will be interesting to see if I’ll end up ranking season 2 or season 4 higher.
But before that... something much worse: I’ve already started the season 3 (sigh) rewatch and I’m up to 3x03. Those write-ups will have to be much shorter, just bullet points, because of my lack of time and tons of real work and deadlines. I don’t think I’d have energy to analyze in details and rant about season 3 episodes anyway.
Notes about the timeline and body count in seasons 1 and 2 under the cut.
Timeline: While The 100 wiki says that it has been 52 days since the 100 landed on Earth (I have no idea where they got that, there is no source provided), by my count, and I’ve paid attention closely, it couldn’t be more than about 40 days since the Pilot, at most. Season 1 lasted just a little over 3 weeks, and season 2 couldn’t have been more than about 2 weeks.
Body count: This is going to be long...
Eight more Delinquents died in season 2 (46 died in season 1). 54 Delinquents survived into season 2 (48 of them were in Mount Weather, but Clarke escaped), and out of that number, 3 were killed outside Mount Weather: anonymous Delinquent was killed by Tristan in 2x01; Sterling died falling off a cliff while trying to save his friend Mel in 2x04; Finn Collins was about to be brutally executed for his crimes on Lexa's orders and was mercy killed by Clarke in 2x08. Inside Mount Weather, while all 47 seemed in danger of certain death throughout the season, 42 survived while 5 Delinquents were murdered for bone marrow (among them Fox). As of the season 2 finale, there are 46 surviving Delinquents (including Clarke, Octavia, Jasper, Monty, John Murphy, Nate Miller, Harper, Monroe, Bree - who we haven't seen in a while), plus Bellamy and Raven.
An unknown number of people from the Ark made it to Earth in the season 1 finale. By my count, the number of people on the Ark at the beginning of the show was 2659, before 101 people landed on the dropship and Raven went to Earth, leaving 2557 people. 320 people died in the culling, leaving 2237 (the number mentioned in the show). Other deaths in season 1 included Shumway, more than 6 people (probably around 10 to 15) in an explosion of the bomb planted by Diana's people. Diana and an unknown number of her supporters and others who just wanted to get to Earth (probably several hundred people) died in the crash of the Exodus ship (caused by Mount Weather), and an unknown but large number died in the shutdown of the Ark caused when she took the Exodus ship, leaving about 1,000 survivors (according to Kane's assessment). Some of the stations landed well, but others did not - everyone in the Factory Station died, except for Mel. Also, while this is only revealed in season 3, the Farm Station landed safely but was immediately attacked by the Ice Nation, who killed about 120-130 people, including 15 children and Monty's father. The status of some of the other stations is unknown. In season 2, two Arkers were crucified by Trikru as a warning in 2x02. Father of one of the Delinquents in MW was accidentally shot by a guard in Camp Jaha while trying to wrestle his gun from him. At least 1 Arker guard was killed by the acid fog and 2 by Reapers.  Major Byrne was killed by the mutant gorilla. Some Arkers probably died in the bombing of Tondc, but we don't know how many of them were there.  Several Arkers were killed fighting the MW guards who captured Kane, Abby, David Miller and Monroe. At least 4 people in Jaha's party died - two in the land mine explosion, 2 were killed by the sea creature (one of them, Craig, was murdered by Jaha, who pushed him into the water to be eaten).
All of the Mountain Men, except one - Carl Emerson - died in season 2: at least 381 people. One was shot by a person in Camp Jaha, one died trying to assassinate Clarke; Dr. Tsing and at least 35 Mount Weather guards were killed by Bellamy and/or the captive Delinquents in fighting inside Mount Weather, plus 2 guards were killed by Octavia in the finale; the sniper who caused the mass murder in Tondc was killed by Clarke; one MW resident - Keenan - was killed by Tsing and Cage who used her as a guinea pig and then let her die so she wouldn't talk; some guards were killed fighting the Grounder/Arker army at the dam and the ridge in 2x15; several Mount Weather rebels - including Vincent Vie and Mr and Ms Peters - were murdered by the Mount Weather guards for being "traitors", Dante Wallace was shot by Clarke, Cage was killed by Lincoln, and about 300 other people, including Maya Vie, died when Clarke, Bellamy and Monty irradiated Level 5 to save their people.
It's impossible to know how many Grounders live on the territory of North America, so I don't know how many of them are left. But as for how many died:In season 1 (1x13), about 300 warriors died in the ring of fire or in battle with the Delinquents, as did a number of Reapers - killed by Finn or Lincoln or the Grounders in battle or in the fire. Previously, several Grounders were killed on the bridge when Jasper activated Raven's bomb, and another one was killed by Clarke before she escaped.
Season 2: Tristan (shot by Kane to save Finn and Bellamy) and another Grounder (shot by Raven) died in 2x01. Anya was shot and killed by Major Byrne in 2x04.  An unknown number of Grounders died in Mount Weather from being drained, plus at least one (probably more) during the "trial" fights between Reapers-in-making. 19 Grounders (mostly civilians in the village, and one prisoner) were murdered by Finn Collins. Gustus was executed by Lexa for treason in 2x09. Quint and one of Lexa's guards were killed by the mutant gorilla. One died of wounds he sustained while stopping the MW assassination attempt on Clarke. About 250 people died when Mountain Men bombed Tondc on Cage's orders, and Lexa and Clarke didn't want people, and more died when the sniper was killing the survivors. Most of them were Grounders, some were Arkers.
Some of the Reapers were killed by Grounders and Octavia in a fight, and others by Bellamy and Octavia when they were rescuing Lincoln. But we have no idea what happened with the surviving Reapers after the season 2 finale. I'm still annoyed at the way that storyline was dropped.
So, all in all, in about a month and a half or less, the show has managed to kill around 3,000 people.
I have no idea how many people were still alive on Earth at that time - especially since we have no idea about how many there were in other parts of the world. But the season 4 and season 5 finale will be very clear in that regard.

I joined tumblr back in November 2012 because of CS and their beautiful journey that has just begun.
I remember tagging everything “emma x hook” because we didn’t come up with a name yet. I remember everyone analyzing the hell out of Tallahassee and giffing every second of it. I remember how we called each other “beans”.
I remember freaking out about 2x09 because someone posted these photos WEEKS before that episode aired
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I remember analyzing pictures from set in which Hook was in docks with Cora and a swan and headcanoning it as cursed Emma (still... why the hell did they brought swans on set???).
Tumblr media
I remember crying from joy because look at this gif! In this shot Emma is so close to Hook’s hook! almost like a..... FORESHADOWING??
Tumblr media
I remember freaking out because CS WAS IN A TIMELESS LOVE STORIES PROMO AMONG OTHER TRUE LOVE COUPLES!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
I remember dying because they gave us hospital scene sneak peek from 2x12 (it happened on my birthday okay, my friend who came over was really scared, that’s how much I was freaking out)
I remember PaleyFest 2013. When the possibility of CS was mentioned for the first time out loud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And dying again because
Tumblr media
and
Tumblr media
and
Tumblr media
I remember how we had nothing for MONTHS. Only a 5 second long scene in 2x15 where Emma knocks Hook out and then talks with Neal about him.
But then the unthinkable happened. We were blessed with these photos from set!!! Memes were made! Hundreds of edits! And we all had to wait over a month for that episode to air!
Tumblr media
You think that’d be enough to make us go crazy? Hah! You have no idea what happened after this
Tumblr media
and then being dead after season 2 finale...
...and resurrected again because Comic Con happened. THIS happened
Tumblr media
and then all the talk about CS being kindred spirits??? (x) (x) I MEAN....
Tumblr media
That’s enough to kill us before s3 even starts right? NOPE. THIS HAPPENED.
Tumblr media
AND THIS.
Tumblr media
AND THEN THE PROMO
Tumblr media
AND LET’S NOT EVEN MENTION THIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, my point is it all happened before The Kiss. Hell, before season 3 even started! We were called delusional so many times, I lost count. But we endured. We had to wait months for a little scene but we never gave up.
And look where we are now. CS are married and rode off into the sunset to catch bad guys together. And they lived happily ever after.
I cannot tell how grateful I am for being a part of this fandom. You guys and this ship will always be a part of my soul. I won’t come back for season 7 but that doesn’t mean I’m leaving this fandom. We’ve been through too much together for me to give up so easily. Even tho ouat has been slowly deteriorating with its plot holes and lazy writing, CS has always been magical to watch.
It pains me that this is the end and we’ll never see some milestones but I’m so happy for experiencing what we did with you. That was one hell of a journey. But remember guys...
Tumblr media
Peace out!

BSG 2x12 Resurrection Ship part 2 rewatch
The conclusion of the Pegasus arc gives us an interesting twist.
the episode begins with a man floating in water, at first I thought it’s one of Baltar’s fantasies, then it’s revealed that it’s Apollo, imagining himself in water when he’s actually floating in space. Apollo had a fairly minor role in this arc so far.
48 hours earlier he learns about Kara’s mission to assassinate Cain. He doesn’t like it, but he’s going to be her backup. He says that trust is important and the only thing that separates people from Cylons... but then there is zero trust between Galactica and Pegasus.
Kara gets to know Cain from a different side. Cain is mentoring her, but her message is that hard, terrible decisions have to be made in order to save more lives and you can’t flinch or hesitate. It sounds oddly as if she’s encouraging Kara who is tasked with killing her.
Tyrol and Helo are attacked in their cell by those annoying guys that told them about raping Cylons. Those guys now want revenge for Thorne. But Fisk puts a stop to it. It looks like it’s about discipline, but he lets those two get off with only a warning. However, he only doesn’t allow torture of human prisoners. “You can’t rape a machine.” He’s practicing Pegasus brand of morality.
Lee questions his father about this decision to assassinate Cain. And that’s when he learns that it was suggested by Roslin. That‘s a serious blow to his morale. Both of his authority figures and role models, people he respects and admires, are plotting to assassinate their opposition. This episode marks a paradigm shift in Lee’s life. Later, after Blackbird collides with raider and Lee got ejected, he has the first row sit to the battle, but he’s slowly dying from the loss of air... as if he’s sinking under the waves. He doesn’t even respond to Dualla’s hails. He’s picked by Racetrack and resuscitated, but he lost something. He confesses to Kara (and eavesdropping Dee) that he didn’t want to come back alive. He’s beating himself up that he broke his promise and didn’t watch her back, but on the other hand... dying was the only way for him at that time to avoid participating in the assassination.
What’s genius about this episode is that the battle isn’t the point, instead eveyone waits with bated breath for what comes after. Cylons are destroyed according to the plan. And Kara goes to Cain, all sweaty, nervous and fingering her gun. Fisk is similarly shifty on Galactica’s bridge, eying nervously the marines. They’re both in the same situation - they don’t want to kill Cain/Adama, but they have to because of their loyalty to the other.
Kara’s relief when Adama calls the assassination off is palpable. After Lee questioned him, he had some doubts and talked to Sharon. She remined him of his own speech from miniseries and he finally got his answer to why Cylons attacked. Because they decided that humanity isn’t worth of survival. So he chooses principles over brutal pragmatism.
Then Cain calls Fisk and doesn’t give him the code words. She called off her plan to get rid of Adama! And that’s when I knew for sure that she knew about Kara’s mission. And instead of exploiting Adama’s weakness, she did the honourable thing too. Maybe she’s not so bad after all. Maybe she can change her ways, develop trust with Adama and work with him and the Fleet.
But we will never know how things would have gone with Cain because she still got killed.
Gaius and Gina are amazing together in this episode. Gaius choosing the real Six, Gina, over Head Six. Gaius comforting her, telling her a story about sports that Head Six had told him.
Gina knew exactly when the Resurrection Ship was destroyed and she couldn’t download anymore. So, Cylons do have some kind of wi-fi and Sharon might have lied about that.
Gina’s wish is to die, but “suicide is a sin”, so she wants Gaius to do the deed. But he can’t do that, he can’t kill Six. So instead he sets her on the path of “justice” which looks very much like revenge. Btw, incredible that Gaius came so far that he confesses his love to Six. He’s not the same man that asked Caprica Six if she was crazy when she told him she loved him back then.
In the end, Cain pays with her life for Gina’s torture. Cain treated her like a thing, denied her personhood to make herself feel justified, but the truth is she wanted Gina to suffer. However, a real machine can’t feel pain. If Gina was really just an unfeeling machine, nothing Cain and her men did would have hurt her. She wouldn’t have cared about justice or revenge. Gina may not be human, but she’s a person.
What I love about this episode, is again, that it’s not a simple “heroes take down the evil bitch because that’s the right thing to do.” It’s not as simple as that. Instead we see Cain’s side of the story, mostly through Kara’s perspective. Her words at Cain’s funeral really hit hard. Cain had found herself in completely different circumstances than Galactica after the attack. And she did terrible things to survive, to gather supplies and continue the fight. No hope, no relief. Cain didn’t have her own Roslin to change her mind about saving civilians. She didn’t have Boomer saving the ship again and again to show her a different side of Cylons. Was she so different from Adama really? What would he have done in her place?
(I can’t believe I’m starting to understand Cain, one of my most hated characters on this show. This is how well-written she is.)
As a result, a shadow is cast over our heroes. They’re not so heroic, as they were willing to commit murder because of a perceived threat. They were so close to crossing that line. Only luck saved them.
Makes me think that Adar’s government must have ordered some assassinations too, if Roslin was so cool with proposing it.
Alright, Helo’s reunion with Sharon while Tyrol silently exits the stage was nicely done.
Finally Adama gets that promotion and I can call him Dadmiral! Lol
Adama and Roslin kill me with feels. Finally they kiss and it’s so sweet, but she’s dying and there’s nothing that can be done :(
