Project Proposal (Rationale)

My first 3 projects were made in Unreal Engine 4, they were a 2.5D platformer, a 3D first person shooter and a 2.5D arcade shooter, I wouldn’t say I gained much experience from these other than getting slightly better at pixel art. Overall I didn’t enjoy making these very much and making pixel art with photoshop was annoying.

Then for my first FMP I switched to GameMaker (GameMaker Studio 2 at the time), this was much nicer to use as it was tailored to 2D games, during my first FMP I learnt how to make basic player movement and a branching dialogue system, I also switched to using a free website called Pixilart.com for the sprites. In the randomisation project I learnt how to make a day-night cycle that had changing lighting as well as a randomised weather system which changed based on the current season. During the alternate control project I was able to create a system capable of connecting to more than 700 controllers, my pixel art was getting better and I also began adding my own music into my games. Finally in the 2by2 project I created a multiplayer system that could theoretically connect an infinite amount of players, I also now created my pixel art on an app called Aseprite.

During my final FMP I’ll be using the coding knowledge I have obtained whilst improving my pixel art further.
