Just like how I didn’t know that having a favourite airport was a possibility till I flew to Samui, I had no idea that it was possible to be excited about e-mail till Inbox came along. 

I don’t exactly remember how I first heard about it, but in October of 2014 -- literally a week after its invitation-only soft launch -- I e-mailed the Inbox team and asked for access. I started using Inbox about a week later, and I haven’t looked back since.

Inbox was what got me to Inbox zero. Swiping on it is nice, and its reminders are fantastic. I snooze some e-mails when I’m traveling to help with anxiety. And the built-in trip bundling -- holy fucking shit -- that was a life changer. Functionality aside, Inbox is still a better looking e-mail client than Gmail. It’s sleek, and dare I say, sexy. In fact, it might just be the very best e-mail client out there, ever.

So of course Google is killing it. 

I’m not even mad, really; I’m just, as they say, disappointed. And mostly at myself. I’m disappointed at myself for being sad because -- what the fuck did I expect? It’s fucking Google. Google doesn’t care about us. They killed Google Reader even when they themselves acknowledged that it had a loyal following. Then they killed Google+. Then Google Wave, which was way ahead of it’s time and had a a special place in my heart. And now, they’re killing Inbox because -- essentially -- Fuck you!

What I can’t wrap my head around is that Google can afford to keep a small team of developers working on Inbox if they wanted to. Even if, as they claim, they’re moving the Inbox features to Gmail and thus not need two e-mail clients, they could’ve still, if they wanted, kept Inbox alive for further experiments.

And I’m not the only person who’s deeply saddened by this. A quick Google search will bring up many people who are angry or sad or think it’s a terrible idea. Sometimes all of those things at once. In fact, right now, there’s a change.org petition going on with 7,765 signatures asking Google not to kill Inbox. 

Why can’t Google keep this one thing that sparks joy in so many people’s lives?

Because, at the end of the day, it’s about numbers, and you cannot quantify passion.

Dalam Alquran surat Fathir ayat 37 Allah berfirman tentang pernyataan orang-orang yang berada di neraka meminta Allah mengeluarkan mereka dari neraka agar dapat berbuat kebaikan. Nyatanya banyak di antara manusia tetap membangkang meskipun telah datang nabi sebagai pemberi peringatan. . Ayat ini menegaskan pentingnya amal kebaikan dilakukan selama hidup. Anugerah umur yang diberikan oleh Allah hendaknya dipakai oleh manusia untuk memaksimalkan perannya sesuai perintah Allah. Manusia memakmurkan bumi-Nya, menolong sesama, terus menebar jala kebaikan sepanjang kehidupan. Sebab jangan sampai kita melakukan yang sebaliknya. Azab Allah di akhirat amat pedih dan tentu saja penghuni neraka tidak mampu lagi kembali ke dunia. Mereka menyesal pada akhirnya. . Allah dalam surat Al-Asr telah mengingatkan kita tentang banyaknya manusia yang rugi. Kecuali bagi mereka yang beramal saleh dan saling menasihati dalam kebenaran dan kesabaran. Ayat ini kembali menegaskan pentingnya mempergunakan umur sebaik mungkin. Jangan sampai disia-siakan. Sebaik-baik manusia adalah yang panjang umurnya dan baik perilakunya.
