Favourite Music 2024
It was a tradition on my old blog to post a year-end list of all my favourite music releases; a tradition that continued up until last year when my old blog was unceremoniously and unfairly nuked on December 28th 2023. Luckily I managed to recover the contents of all my lists dating back to 2013 via backups and cross-posts, compiled them together and posted them as a group. That post can be found here: Favourite Music 2013-2023.
2024 was a bit of an odd year for me and my relationship to music. μέν thanks to a little chemical help, I've been playing my instrument again and reconnecting with my craft after a few years of neglecting my guitars. I also spent some of the year reconnecting with the music that got me excited about learning guitar when I started learning to play over twenty years ago. δε I didn't listen to nearly as much new music as is typical for me. Every year over this past decade I listened, on average, to between seventy and ninety new albums every year. This year my total was closer to fifty. Anyway, here are my lists (in no order whatsoever) of my favourite albums, my honourable mentions, and my favourite compilations, reissues and live albums from 2024.

Nationalities: Irish-American
Pronouns: She/Her
Date of Death: September 28th, 1985
Voice Claim: Baby Box (Gabby’s Dollhouse)
Personality Description: Susie is a sensitive, kind-hearted young girl who has an overwhelming soft spot for those she loves. This soft spot, however, allows her to be easily taken advantage of. It is hard for her to truly hate anybody, feeling sympathetic for most people.

Name (Nicknames): Gabriel Stauffer (Gabe)
Age, DOB: 5, March 13th, 1980
Nationalities: African-American

Date of Death: September 29th, 1985
Voice Claim: Dash (The Incredibles)
Personality Description: Gabe is a loving child with a heart of gold. He is described by his father as a “lion-child”, taking it upon himself to stand up for those around him (especially his friends) even if his pudgy, petite appearance isn’t intimidating in the slightest. Gabe is, however, very gullible and easily falls victim to lies and false promises if they involve his friends and/or family.
Possesses: Freddy Fazbear, Funtime Freddy, Ennard/Molten Freddy
Tumblr media
Name (Nickname): Jeremy Roberto Doherty (Jerry)
Age, DOB: 14, December 10th, 1970
Nationalities: Ukrainian-American

Date of Death: September 29th, 1985
Voice Claim: Lloyd Garmadon (Ninjago)
Personality Description: Despite his eccentric clothing choices, Jeremy is a timid boy who prefers to stay in the background of things. They derive most, if not all, of his confidence from his friends, especially from their best friend (and would’ve-been younger brother) Gabriel. They make him feel strong, and he has a subconscious need to protect them.
Possesses: Bonnie Bunny, Funtime Freddy, Ennard/Molten Freddy
(Note: Jeremy would’ve been adopted by Gabriel’s family if they had survived. Sadly, both of them had died before that could happen).
Name (Nicknames): Francis Reynolds (Fritz)
Age, DOB: 9, July 29th, 1976
Nationalities: Canadian-American
Pronouns: He/Him
Date of Death: September 30th, 1985
Voice Claim: Lewis Robinson (Meet The Robinsons)
Personality Description: Fritz is, for the most part, an average boy. He enjoys drawing and making pictures of him and his friends together, especially so with his best friend, Andrew. Fritz is standoffish and a tad bit awkward, but is not socially adverse.
Possesses: Foxy the Pirate Fox, Funtime Foxy, Ennard/Molten Freddy
Tumblr media
Name (Nicknames): Cassidy Coney (Cassie)
Age, DOB: 9, October 1st, 1976
Nationalities: Indian-American
Pronouns: They/Them
Date of Death: October 1st, 1985
Voice Claim: Vee Noceda (The Owl House)
Personality Description: Though selectively mute, Cassidy has no problem helping their friends when/if they need it. They are deeply empathetic and acts as a backbone to their friend group. Typically, Cassidy is a very passive, non-violent person; but, if somebody presents themselves as a threat to those they love, they will stop at nothing to raise hellfire on them.
Possesses: Golden Freddy/Fredbear, Funtime Freddy, Ennard/Molten Freddy
Name (Nicknames): Andrew Smith (Andie)
Age, DOB: 9, July 29th, 1976
Nationalities: Mexican-American
Pronouns: He/They
Date of Death: October 1st, 1985
Voice Claim: Ronno (Bambi)
Personality Description: Andrew is a soft-spoken and mild-mannered young boy. He prefers talking and grouping up with his friends, especially with his best friend Fritz. Andrew loves giving his friends gifts, which included paying for some of their things (such as food and tickets). Unfortunately, when faced with any form of danger, he instinctively shuts down and is of little use/help.
Possesses: Golden Freddy/Fredbear, Funtime Foxy, Ennard/Molten Freddy

James Cruden was born 28th December 1915 in Govanhill, Glasgow.
Not a name you will know, but some of you might have known him as Jack Milroy, many more though will be more aware of Jack, as Francie to Rikki Fultons Josie.
As teddy boys Francie and Josie, Fulton and Milroy became comic institutions, igniting their careers, Francie was the naïve and gullible foil to the sardonic Josie (Fulton). Strutting on to the stage dressed in a drab wig and an outrageously tight red “teddy boy” suit, Francie would win laughs before he even opened his mouth. Then, in a heavy Glasgow patois, Francie would react with histrionic horror at Josie’s “carryings-on”.
As a child, he harboured ambitions to become an actor and joined several amateur dramatic societies. During wartime service overseas with the Black Watch, he saw Noel Coward entertain the troops at Chittagong.
On demob in 1947, Milroy got bookings in small theatres, and after being spotted in Carnoustie by a talent scout he was booked for the Tivoli in Aberdeen.
In 1949, he met the singer Mary Lee, who would become his wife in 1953. The two formed a musical and comic double act, performing in Belfast. As a solo act and in pantomime, Milroy packed Scotland’s variety theatres for 50 years. Mary sadly passed away last March at the grand old age of 100.
The double act of Francie and Josie made the transfer from stage to TV – turning them into Still Game’s Jack and Victor of their day. They went on to rub shoulders with everyone who’s anyone in Scotland — Jack also discovered a 16-year-old Janette Anderson — Wee Jimmy Krankie in the making along the way.
Workaholic Jack had a massive heart attack in the mid-1980s. That was followed by another in the late 90s when he needed to have a pacemaker fitted. He gave his last ever performance at the Pavilion in the same year, he passed away on February 1st 2001 of heart disease.
I've chosen an auld Hogmanay clip of Jack and his wife Mary

DIDN'T WANNA FEEL OLD IN 2025? SUCKS TO BE YOU!
HEY THERE PEOPLE OF TODAY AND ROBOTS OF TOMORROW! IT'S ME, CLARK!
Y'know what's funny? All last year peeps kept liking my 'Didn't Wanna Feel Old' journal from 2023. One commenter said I should make a new one for 2024. Jee, ya' don't say? Guess you missed how that was already a thing. Was nobody interested in seeing what all reached a major milestone back in 2024? Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, they all celebrated their 40th Anniversary, Lion King had its 30th, a lot of cool stuff got that much older. Shame nobody seemed to notice. Ah well, maybe 2025 will be better. Especially when a certain someone is celebrating his own major milestone this year. When, exactly? Read to find out!

The Bookworm and the Beast [part 47]
A dark Scarecrow/Fem!OC romance fanfic
Intro [with Ao3 link] First Previous
CW: Death and Funerals
The wind whipped around, and there was the threat of rain in the air as Isabel stood in front of the grave. The small funeral had ended some time ago, but she could not leave. Isabel watched as the men covered the grave with fresh dirt. They had left in silence, leaving Isabel staring at the headstone.
Jonathan Crane August 15th 1980-March 28th 2045
Twenty-nine years. They had had twenty-nine years together. No that wasn't right. As much as he tried, Jonathan had never given up his life of crime. Jonathan had made her a promise long ago that she and Evelyn were his new life's work, but the truth was that he was still in love with his Fear Toxin. A little less than two years after he made a promise to never leave her, he did.
Isabel was cold. She groaned and reached over to cuddle Jonathan, only to find him gone. Cracking her eyes open, she looked to the bathroom. The light wasn't on.
"Jonathan?" She called groggily, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. From the room next door, Evelyn's room, she heard Jonathan muttering softly. Tiredly, Isabel got up and walked to the room. She paused outside of the door and peered inside, through the crack, listening.
"...regrets. You are so perfect. I love you and your mother so much but I need to go away for a while."
"Papa go?" Evelyn's tired, but sweet little voice asked.
"Yes, just for a few months."
"Go where?"
"Back to Gotham."
"Gotham? Batman!" Evelyn's tone became scared at the mention of Batman. She had been raised with her father and her "uncles" and "aunt" always casting Batman as the villain in their stories to her.
"Yes, Papa needs to go and fight Batman."
"Papa fight!" Evelyn giggled, "Papa win!"
"Yes, I will win," Jonathan reached down and picked Evelyn up, hugging her tightly. "I will win and return to you as soon as possible."
Evelyn closed her eyes as her father hugged her, and when she opened them, she spotted Isabel through the cracked door. "Mama!"
As Isabel opened the door and entered, Jonathan turned, Evelyn still in his arms. "Why Mama cry?"
Isabel reached up and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Nothing, it is nothing, sweetie."
Evelyn smiled and returned to hugging Jonathan. Isabel stepped up and wrapped her arms around both of them. Jonathan put an arm around Isabel and pulled her tight against him. The family stayed like that for a long while. Eventually, though, Evelyn became antsy. "Tired, Papa."
"Okay, my sweet, back to bed."
"Night, night Papa. Night, night Mama." Jonathan set Evelyn back in her bed, and the two adults snuck out of the room. Taking Isabel's hand, Jonathan led her down the stairs so they would not wake Evelyn back up.
"You were just going to leave without telling me?" Isabel accused once they were downstairs.
"No, no," Jonathan said, drawing her into his arms. "Of course not, pet. I was just saying goodbye to Evelyn first."
Isabel felt tears rolling down her cheeks. "Y-you didn't even tell me. We didn't discuss it at all."
"I know, Isabel. I'm sorry. I didn't know how to bring it up. Please understand. I don't have a scheme. I just need to conduct some research. I will be back in a few months. I promise…"
That had been the second promise he broke. Jonathan had been caught by Batman and thrown in Arkham, it was not until six months after he left that he returned. It was almost poetic, though, he had returned on Evelyn's birthday. Jonathan stayed with them again for a year and a half before returning to Gotham. That ended up being the pattern of their life. Stay for a couple of years, then leave. All in all, Jonathan missed about 4 years of Evelyn growing up. Four years they would never get back.
The wind was stinging Isabel's cheeks, the pain increased by the tears now streaming down them. Sniffing, Isabel dabbed the tears away. Jonathan had asked her not to cry. They'd known this was coming. Ten years ago, Jonathan returned to her and officially retired. Five years ago, he had fallen ill. All the years of being beaten by both Batman and other criminals and many more years of accidentally inhaling his chemicals had finally taken their toll. There was nothing the doctors could have done to help him, and all Isabel could do was ease his pain in any way possible.
The last year had been the worst. Isabel had done all she could, but in the end, they both knew his time was up. Then in the middle of the day, three days ago, Jonathan had been sitting in his chair reading when he suddenly looked up at Isabel sitting on the couch.
"I love you, Isabel." He had said, his voice still strong but the tone softer than it had been when they were young.
"I love you too, Jonathan," Isabel had replied automatically, not looking up from her book.
"No, Isabel." His tone, this time, made her look at him. "I do love you, and I am sorry that I went back to Gotham all those years ago. I should never have left you or Evelyn. We should have moved across the country far away from Gotham and Batman. I was being selfish, and I am sorry. I am so, terribly sorry."
Tears had pricked his eyes, which Isabel had not seen often in all her years with him. Smiling, Isabel had gotten up and kissed Jonathan's cheek, but then he had grabbed the back of her head and given her a proper kiss on the lips. Not passionate, but even fuller in meaning and intent than the kisses they shared when they were young. Pulling away, Isabel had felt her eyes misting over as well. "Do you need anything, Jonathan?"
"No, pet," Jonathan had said tiredly, "I think I will just close my eyes for a bit."
Isabel had nodded and went back down to read some more. When she had checked on Jonathan an hour later, he had passed on.
"Mom." Isabel was pulled out of her memories by the sound of her daughter's voice. "Mom, it is going to rain soon."
"Yes, Sweet," Isabel sighed. "Just-just a couple more minutes."
Evelyn put a hand on her mother's shoulder. "Okay, Mom. Stewart is waiting for you, though."
Isabel nodded before turning back to the grave. After her daughter's footsteps faded, Isabel heard another pair approaching her. "I am sorry for your loss, Mrs. Crane."
Isabel turned to look at the source of the unknown voice. It was a man, old, but not older than her, somewhere in his late fifties. Most notably, he was huge, not with fat but with well-toned muscle. Muscle that could only be earned with years of constant use.
"Thank you." She paused for a second before continuing, "He had been sick for a few years. There was nothing the doctors could do. So many years of bodily abuse led to this. I always thought, one less punch, one less broken rib, one less time exposed to that toxin…but it doesn't matter now, I guess."
The other man was silent, staring consideringly at the grave.
"I suppose I should thank you again, though, for never coming for us, for him at home."
"I don't know what you mean."
"I'm not a fool, Batman. I saw you one night. Out in the woods, watching us. You knew where we were, and you knew where Jonathan was hiding. You could have burst in and arrested him, me. Broken up our family, but you never did. Thank you for that."
The man was silent once again.
"I also know what you have done with the other bodies. The bodies of Jervis, Two-Face, and the others who have died so far. I know you take them so their graves cannot be made into monuments to their crimes. Please, though, don't take his body. No one in this town knows who he is. No one will find him. Please, when the time comes, let me be buried next to my husband."
"No idea what you mean, ma'am," the man said, walking away. "Once again, I'm sorry for your loss."
Isabel watched as the man walked away. Her attention was drawn away, though, by a call from a young boy by the road. "Babushka!"
Smiling for the first time all day, Isabel waved at her grandson. Glancing back towards the man, Isabel saw that he had disappeared. Closing her eyes, Isabel looked back towards the grave once more. Bending down near the headstone, Isabel placed her hands on top of it. "Sorry, my love, I have to go now. It might be a while until we see each other again. I love you."
Standing, Isabel made her way to the road where her daughter and grandson were waiting for her. The six-year-old boy wrapped his arms around Isabel, his pumpkin-shaped plastic bucket that Jonathan had given him three years ago on Halloween, knocking against her legs.
"I am sorry, Babushka," he said, hugging her tightly, "I am going to miss Grandad."
"I know, little ghoul, so am I," Isabel said, patting his straw blonde hair inherited from his father.
Evelyn hugged her mother tightly. When they parted, Isabel looked at her daughter with her blue eyes so, much like her father's and her grandson with an obsession with Halloween to rival his grandad's. Doctor Jonathan Crane, the Scarecrow, the God of Fear, was gone, but his legacy would live on.

Note
Somehow thanks to a random website I was able to remember all of the brothers birthdays (including my own!!! That never happens!!) so here they are, for any who may have had similar:
John Dory's was on September 21st in 1980
Bruce's was on August 28th in '81
Clay's was on June 17th in '84
Floyd's was on January 30th in '86
Mine was on March 14th in '86
and Branch's was on November 4th in 1995
The band broke up in '99, and, y'know, "the rest is history" as the saying goes. Either way, it's *really* cool for me to know all of these, now, and I will be adding them to my calendar >:3

May
Touga and Saionji met Utena by finding her in a coffin. Though they weren’t able to convince her to leave the casket on that rainy night. The next day, those two noticed a certain look in the girl’s eyes. Seeing something has changed in Utena that neither of them couldn’t do for her.
Utena’s parent’s died in an accident, leaving her orphaned. On that rainy night, she lost the will to live. Until she subconsciously met Akio/Dios and Anthy. From that fateful encounter, Utena found her strength to live. The next day, Utena attends the funeral with her legal guardian. Her aunt named Yurika, who chose to take her in.
Aunt Yurika stated, “Utena’s parents died when she was six. I was still young myself… and I couldn’t explain it to her.” Meaning that Yurika must have been 21 years old at the time. However, an age requirement on becoming a legal guardian to someone’s child is 18 and above.
1996
January 23rd: Ruka turns 17 years old.
February 2nd: Shiori’s turns 13 years old.
On that year, Shiori fell into a river. Juri dives in and saved her, then places Shiori at the riverside. However, Juri loss the strength to swim towards the surface. Until Ruka swam to Juri in attempts to rescue her. The next day, bad news occurred at Ohtori Private Academy Hospital. Juri wakes up from the hospital bed, finding out that Ruka died saving her. She can hear it from Shiori’s cries, asking why he would that for Juri.
1997
December 29th: Utena turns 14 years old.
1998
This would most likely be assumptions and a bit of headcanon. Unless anyone reading this have the actual manga version of Revolutionary Girl Utena, then you won’t have any idea what I’m talking about.
Prologue
Early June (3 days)
Day 1 (Pg3-33) // Day 2 (Pg34-49) // Day 3 (Pg50-82)
During Summer Break
X
July 29th: Utena’s arrive to Ohtori Private Academy.

Sakura Haruno: Hogwarts AU
Tumblr media
Sakura Haruno is a Muggleborn witch that was born on the 28th of March 1980 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1991, being sorted into Gryffindor House.
She grew up not knowing anything about magic so she was very shy during her first year but did eventually open up thanks to the Ravenclaw Ino who took her under her wing with them ending up becoming as close as sisters for life.
Their friendship did break off for a few years over their shared crush on the Slytherin Sasuke with Sakura being convinced that Ino had befriended her to keep her from Sasuke and Ino being jealous that Sakura was one of Sasuke's best friend.
She only begrudgingly hung out with Naruto at first since he was Sasuke's best friend with her only befriending them at first to get close to Sasuke which she later felt very sorry for since she eventually grew to love both of her boys way more than herself.
She and Ino did eventually become friends again since they both realized when they got older that to break off a friendship over a boy was very stupid and they swore to never stop being friends over something that stupid again.
She eventually became a member of Makarov's Army alongside her friends and it was during her time in that secret student organisation that she realized that she had a big passion for healing so she choose to pursue that career path after graduating.
She was eventually forced to go on the run due to her blood-status with her accompanying her boys to find Madara's horcruxes before she returned to Hogwarts to participate in the Battle of Hogwarts which she survived and was also considered as one of the fiercest fighters during the whole battle.
After graduating from Hogwarts, she started working as a healer at St. Mungos and eventually got married to Sasuke who she ended up having one daughter together with.
She has a Willow wand with a Phoenix Feather core.
Her Patronus is an Apple Snail.
Her favorite subjects were Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Her least favorite subjects were Astronomy and Divination.

THE DEMONSTRATIONS THAT LASTED ELEVEN MONTHS and THE DAY MOTHERS STRIPPED NAKED.
On March 3rd 1992, mothers of the political prisoners stripped naked at Uhuru park to demand for the release of their sons caught in Moi's torture chambers.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the political atmosphere in Kenya was characterized by brutal government repression and terror, under the de-facto single-party rule of President Daniel Arap Moi.
Any form of political dissension was swiftly met with government interrogation, detention, and torture, using the justification of the Public Order Act, the Chiefs Authority Act and the Sedition Law.
This resulted to the arrest, killing and exiling of many students, politicians, lawyers and journalists. Those arrested were tortured and thrown in prisons, some came back alive while others died in the torture chambers and prisons.
On Feb 28th, 1992, Mothers of Political Prisoners, aged between 60-80 years presented a Petition with a list of 52 political prisoners who had been imprisoned for perceived anti-government statements, ideas, and actions, to the then Attorney General, Amos Wako.
The mothers then proceeded to a now famous corner at the Uhuru Park in Nairobi for an undefined hunger strike. The mothers were supported & led by the late Nobel Laurent, Prof. Wangari Maathai who joined them in their protest, which was ignored by the mainstream media, KBC & KTN.
The mothers set up camp in the Uhuru (Freedom) Park that is located across the infamous “Nyayo House Torture Chambers” and not far off is the Parliament Building. There, they staged a hunger strike and waited for the release of their sons.
The striking mothers soon garnered much support for their cause. Several sympathizers set up a tent under which the mothers could sleep, and many frustrated Kenyans came forward and openly recounted their stories of torture.
These supporters joined in on the mothers’ singing of traditional Kenyan songs, which included such lyrics as, “Go and take the child back…” The mothers set up banners and handed out flyers to curious Kenyans as they continued their vigil.
On March 3rd, the Moi government decided to forcibly disperse the demonstrators. Government police forces beat protesters with batons, fired gunshots into the air, and hurled tear-gas into the tent where protesters were gathered.
Wangari Maathai who was criticized by President Daniel Arap Moi, being called a “madwoman” & “a threat to the order & security of the country”, was was beaten into the coma. This made it to the newspaper headlines, causing uproar across the nation and criticism internationally.
To ward off the police, two of the protesting mothers stripped their clothing and dared the police to kill them. They shouted “What kind of government is this that beats women! Kill us! Kill us now! We shall die with our children!”
Perhaps the mothers were inspired by the 1922 bravery actions of women led by Mary Muthoni Nyanjiru, who stormed a police station in Nairobi to demand the release of Harry Thuku. Men who had come along started retreating upon coming face to face with armed colonial police.
In disappointment, Nyanjiru stripped to shame the fleeing men, and asked them to give women their trousers since they were brave. The charged crowd overrun the police station, and Mary Nyanjiru was shot dead on that day. Her brave actions aroused people into active resistance.
Back to 1992, the police officers on seeing the nakedness of mothers in their 60s, responded by turning away and leaving the scene. According to Maathai, the tactic of disrobing was particularly effective in stopping the police because....
... “In the African tradition, people must respect women who are close to their mother’s age, & must treat them as their mothers. If men beat mothers,it is like sons violating their mothers, & the mothers respond by cursing them & they cursed them by showing them their nakedness.”
The news of the violent beatings of the mothers sparked riots all over Nairobi. Transportation workers boycotted their work in protest of the govt beating the mothers, & large crowds of stone-throwing demonstrators had to be dispersed by tear gas-firing riot police.

I made a post a few days ago about my personal top gun timeline, and I said I'd post about my interpretation of the top gun timeline, so here it is.
Canon dates are in bold, my additions are in italics
3rd October 1957- Nicholas "Goose" Bradshaw
1958- Tom "Iceman" Kazansky and Ronald "Slider" Kerner are born- this is my only deviation because the wiki says Iceman was born in 1959, died aged 61, but the film takes place in 2019, but if he was 61 he would've died in 2020 or be born in 1958? Also this post I made talks about how TGM may take place around 2016 because Mav says he was an instructor "almost thirty years ago" in 1986.
27th November 1959- Carole Bradshaw née Edwards
6th March 1962- Mav is born
8th March 1965- US officially enters the Vietnam War
5th November 1965- Duke Mitchell dies
28th January 1973- US part in the Vietnam War ends
1973- Goose's dad dies
1976- Goose, Iceman and Slider graduate high school and go to the Naval Academy
1978- Carole Bradshaw graduates high school and goes to live with her sister in Annapolis. She meets Goose.
1979- Goose and Carole start dating
1980- Goose, Iceman and Slider graduate the Naval Academy and go to flight school, Mav graduates high school and goes to OCS. Carole goes with Goose to flight school - Mav being younger than anyone else makes sense just by how he's treated. Them all graduating in 1980 also makes sense because Goose would have time to get to know Iceman's flying style without Mav knowing and Carole saying she's known Mav for a lot of years also makes sense if they've known each other for 6 years. And Goose and Mav having time to become one of the best naval aviators.
1983- Goose and Carole get married, Carole gets pregnant
1984- Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw is born - I am a firm "Bradley was not born in 1984" truther, I just don't think that Bradley in Top Gun looks 2? But also this is a small thing so it doesn't really matter (although top gun Maverick's dates evidently weren't made by an autistic person who's special interest is top gun)
June/July 1986- The events of Top Gun happen
1999- Carole gets terminal cancer and dies
2002- Mav pulls Rooster's papers, Rooster graduates high school and goes to university
2006- Rooster graduates University and goes to the Naval Academy
2016- The events of Top Gun Maverick take place, Iceman dies - Mav says "Almost 30 years ago" when talking about being a top gun instructor, which insinuates to me that this is happening around 2016 which I said in my post here
That's it! Thanks for reading!
