Today was the first day of cell culture lab, and boy did I feel stuuuuuupid. It’s been 3 years since I’ve been in any type of lab and I didn’t do any type of cell culture lab in undergrad anyway, so it’s not surprising that I didn’t feel comfortable, but wow I felt stupid.

But that’s a good thing. I’m back in school because I want more, and I’m not going to be able to get more if I don’t push myself. You should never be the smartest person in the room, and it’s okay to struggle, especially as you’re just starting out/getting back in the swing of things.

Anyway, the lab look the whole 5 hours so I got out around 530 and decided to push myself through a fairly quick mile on a route around campus that is not as hilly as the lake near my place (this is a different lake, one on campus). And I am SUPER thrilled. This was about 75 running/25 walking, but I got it done and feel great about it.

27AUG19 My goal to get in the gym during the day more is working so far.  The recumbent bike was for me today, as my arms hate me from Monday.  I got sweaty. Class was finally more like a class this evening, as the lesson has been emphatically driven home: goof off and get strong.  Did a much deeper dive into Yawara, even with having a very small visitor stretch and warm up with us.

Training:

1300-1400: Cardio

Rode the recumbent exercise bike for 14.3 mi in 1 hr.  Did 2 min of cool-down.

1900-2000: Martial Arts

Ukemi, yawara
