…baffling new Westhawne discourse unlocked: apparently 25 and 31 is a “problematic” age gap now?

Like…someone was saying that Eddie had “more experience as an adult while Barry and Iris had just finished college” but uh…no?? Barry was a CSI when the show started, equal to Eddie professionally (different jobs, yes, but equally accomplished in them). Meanwhile, Iris was finishing grad school, not college*, she had a job as a barista and a blog when the show started**, and then she was offered a job as a CCPN reporter due to her blog (she would’ve had a harder time breaking into the field without it—it served as her portfolio, which she further developed after being hired)

Which, sure, isn’t on Eddie’s level, but they’re on different career paths anyway—Iris pursued a Master’s degree after undergrad and discovered her love for journalism during that, while Eddie pursued police work presumably right after undergrad—so naturally, Iris would progress in her career later than Eddie. That speaks to a difference in career path, not maturity 😂

Like…come on guys. If you’re gonna criticize Westhawne, at least stop getting hung up on petty nonsense.

*college in the US is usually synonymous with “undergraduate education”. Iris is 3 years past that. Although I’m pretty sure college isn’t synonymous with “graduate education” like…anywhere in the world (in some places, it’s moreso synonymous with “high school”). Or at least not often/commonly
