NUMBER ONE PARTY ANTHEM | PLAYERS 120 X 246

âHyunjuâŚâ he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper as he leans in closer. The faint smell of alcohol lingers between them. âAre you going to miss me? In Thailand?"
pairing: cho hyunju x park gyeongseok
word count: 1.9k
warnings: au - canon divergence, first kiss, drunken kisses, sexual tension, making out.
a/c: english is not my first language! wrote this for ao3 but I decided to post here for my fellow hyunju x gyeongseok lovers!
"I bought the tickets yesterday," Cho Hyunju says at last, blunt and to the point, a small smile on her lips. She doesnât meet his eyes. "One way only."
She places her drink down slowly, feeling the edges of her tipsiness creeping in. Her vision wavers slightly, and she knows if she isnât careful, the words will start pouring out of her mouth unchecked. She heads toward the backyard for some fresh air, hearing his footsteps close behind.
âYou know, Thailandâs weather is ridiculously hot. And humid.â Gyeongseok says, trying to keep up with Hyunjuâs fast pace. "Even for us Koreans."
Hyunju chuckles, unimpressed. She turns to face him, effectively stopping them in the middle of the hallway. âI know that. You and Geumja donât need to remind me every second.â
He laughs along with her, leaning against the wall and taking another swig from his bottle. âHyunju," he said with relish, rolling it around on his tongue, his words slurring just enough to reveal how drunk he is. His shirt undone at the top, revealing a flush chest, no doubt from all the soju heâs had. He sways slightly, his voice dripping as he teases, âWhoâs gonna protect you if you go to Thailand alone?â
Itâs a rhetorical question, almost a joke, despite their unspoken agreement to not talk about the games too much and drag the mood down during social gatherings, Gyeonseok canât help himself. So often his thoughts would drift to Hyunju and her skill with guns. He wanted to ask her about it, to tell her how impressed he was with her.
He wanted to know her more.
Hyunju shakes her head, laughing more freely. He steps closer, and for a second, she thinks he might stumble and fall into her. She reaches out, steadying him with a hand on his chest and then grabbing his bottle. âYou are drunk.â
He smirks, he wasnât that drunk. âSo, are you actually leaving then?â
âGyeonseokâŚâ Hyunju falters, and she looks away. She doesnât understand exactly why itâs so hard and embarrassing to tell him about the plane tickets. Going to Thailand has been her goal, her dream, thatâs why she went through that hell, thatâs why she survived. Yet, looking at his eyes and telling him sheâs going away make the words stick to her throat. âI-â
He sees this as an answer itself and nods, running a hand through his head and the other in his waist, he lets the silence stretch for a minute before saying a little lower. âIâm gonna miss you.â
Hyunju lifted her head and tilted it, almost like she didnât get the words right, that she was imagining the whole interaction. She pursues her lips, wanting to say something, anything. âI-â
He cleaned his throat, his hand going to the back of his neck. She sees how the red in his exposed chest got a little more vibrant, she doesnât think itâs the alcohol this time. âI mean, weâre all gonna miss you⌠You know.â
Hyunju nods her head then, giving him a little smile. âYeah, yeah.â She says, a little chuckle leaving her lips.
Gyeonseok was by no means a talkative person. Neither was she. They rarely spoke about their times in the games. She never asked him why he had saved her, and he never asked her about Youngmi. Hyunju often thought that if she hadnât run into him at that public park, she wouldnât have reached out, or even come close to the kind of relationship they had now.
Or whatever they had between them.
He steps closer, leaving the wall behind to stand face-to-face with her. His arm moves slowly, his hand brushing lightly against her fingers as he takes the bottle from her grip. Without a word, he tilts it back and finishes whatâs left of the alcohol.
At this closer distance, Hyunju sees more than the tired eyes and dark circles that seem to brand every survivor of the games, haunted by nightmares and memories theyâd rather forget. Those were things sheâd grown used to seeing. But now, she notices the fresh trim of his beard and how his hair is longer, like hers. Yet heâs changed in other ways, too. He seems lighter somehow, maybe even happier.
She tells herself sheâll feel that way soon, too. In Thailand.
âHyunjuâŚâ he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper as he leans in closer. The faint smell of alcohol lingers between them. She tilts her head instinctively, letting out a breath she hadnât realized sheâd been holding. âAre you going to miss me? In Thailand?"
Her nervous chuckle escapes before she can stop it, her eyes darting everywhere but his face. âPhones exist,â she says, her voice wavering slightly, trying to sound dismissive. âI can always call you.â
âThatâs not what I asked you,â He says, a smirk playing on his lips. Hyunju canât help but look before quickly averting her eyes again. âAre you gonna miss me?â
She doesnât know why itâs so hard to say yes. Of course sheâs going to miss him, it should be an easy answer. if Geumja asked her the same question, she wouldnât feel that nervous. But then again, the way sheâll miss the old woman isnât the same as the way sheâll miss Gyeongseok.
She stays silent then, unable to meet his gaze. He let out a soft sign and his grin widened, like heâs been reading her mind all along. And maybe he can. For once, Hyunju wishes sheâd had more to drink, enough to blame the flush on her cheeks on the alcohol rather than the proximity of him.
He sets the empty bottle on a nearby desk, then lifts a hand to her jaw. His fingers brush her skin lightly as he tilts her face up to meet his eyes. His voice is soft. "No?"
She finally looks into his eyes and swallows hard, her gaze dragging across his face. The tired shadows beneath his eyes, the sharp angles of his cheekbones, the curve of his nose, and then his lips. Her attention sticks there, her head shaking in response to his question, though her focus remains locked on his mouth.
His finger moves to her chin, a firmer touch now, guiding her focus back to him. He wets his lips once, and for a moment, Hyunju is certain heâs about to say something. But his eyes speak instead, asking for permission.
She nods, once, then again, her breath catching as it leaves her lungs.
And then he kisses her.
At first, itâs soft, almost hesitant. His hand cradles her jaw as he leads the kiss, his movements careful, aware of her nervousness. He can feel it in the way her hands stay at her sides, her fingers fidgeting anxiously like she always does. So, when he pulls back to breathe, heâs half expecting her to step away, maybe slap him in the face and run to the main room where the others are still laughing and drinking. He fears this might be the last time heâll see her like this.
But then she kisses him.
This time, itâs stronger, more certain. The sudden intensity catches him off guard, and their teeth clash briefly before he adjusts, tilting his head to find the right angle. Her hands move, one to the back of his neck, the other to his shoulder, and the warmth of her touch sends a spark through him. His body responds instinctively, heat rising with every second. He wants more. He wants her.
The kiss deepens, growing heated as Gyeongseok lets himself push his tongue into her mouth. Hyunju responds instinctively, a soft moan escaping her as she steps closer, her body leaning into his.
When they finally pull away, both are breathless. Gyeongseok wears a foolish grin, unable to help himself as he takes in Hyunjuâs flushed face and slightly swollen lips. He leans in for another kiss, but she presses a hand to his chest, stopping him.
âSomeoneâs going to see us,â she murmurs, her voice trembling slightly.
And sheâs right. From the hallway, the sound of loud, drunken conversations and bottles clinking fills the air. Anyone could walk out and catch them at any moment, theyâre lucky that it didnât happen yet. But Gyeongseok doesnât care. Not even a little. His grin softens into something more playful, his voice low as he replies, âI couldnât care less.â
So he kissed her again, his hand slipping to the back of her head to guide her. This kiss is differentâdirtier, wilder than the ones before. Hyunju doesnât hesitate this time, her tongue meeting his with the same urgency, and she steps closer, sliding her thigh between his legs to pull him against her. Gyeongseok lets out a muffled moan, the sound escaping before he can stop it, and he has to break the kiss to catch his breath. Hyunju chuckles softly, amused by his reaction.
Gyeonseok is glad that theyâre the same height because he can lean his forehead against her shoulder. Their shared breathlessness becomes a quiet moment of understanding before he turns his head slightly, pressing gentle kisses along the curve of her neck. Hyunju bites her lip, trying to stifle the noise threatening to escape her throat.
âI think we need to stop,â he murmurs, lifting his head from her shoulder and letting his lips trail along her jawline. The words feel like a betrayal to his own desires. He really doesnât want to, He doesnât want to stop, not when every part of him craves her. But the tightness in his pants is a stark reminder of how much this moment is affecting him, and he knows theyâre at risk of losing control entirely.
Hyunju laughs more freely now, her hair a little messy and her lips swollen from the intensity of the kisses. Gyeongseok wonders if his lips look the same, but he doesn't ask. âYeah,â she says softly, taking her legs between his and stepping back.
He follows her, pressing one more kiss to her lips, his hand resting on her waist. This time, itâs soft, tender, and even sweet. âYou know,â he murmurs, pulling away from the kiss and creating some distance between them, âthereâs this nice restaurant I knowâŚâ
âI would love to,â Hyunju responds, but then she looks down, avoiding his gaze. Her playful smirk makes his heart skip a beat. âThis time youâll be sober,â she teases, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
âIâm notâŚâ Gyeongseok turns toward the wall, staring at it as he adjusts his pants. âIâm not that drunk. This wasnât a drunk decision. I knew exactly what I was doing.â His voice shifts, a little more serious now.
He glances back at her, a smile tugging at his lips. âMaybe the alcohol just gave me courage,â he says with a shrug. âNext Monday, youâre still gonna be here?â
Hyunju answers his question without hesitation, but she doesnât respond to his earlier deflation, even if the sparkling of her eyes tell everything about what she thinks. "Yeah, 12:00?"
âAlright,â he says, a grin spreading across his face. He heads for the door to the main living room but pauses before leaving. âGonna come? Or need some fresh air?â
She wants to go with him, to stay at his side just a little longer, but after everything that just happened, she knows she needs a moment alone to catch her breath. âFresh air. Iâll be there in a minute.â
He nods, walking toward the door before pausing and looking over his shoulder. âOh, and Gyeongseok?â she calls softly.
âWhat?â
âThailandâs not that far away, and the tickets are really cheap,â she says, watching as confusion flashes across his face before realization settles in. A smirk spreads across his lips.
âJust so you know,â she adds with a teasing smile, âif you want to visit me.â

Her vision blurred in the same way it used to back in school when she would sit on the swings by herself. The kind of unfocused eyes sheâd get from staring at the ground for so long, waiting for time to pass. She was in-between sleep and alertness. All she could do was stare at the little girl laying in the hospital bed, who was slowly becoming doubled as she forgot to blink. But this was a normal feeling. One of her talents at school was how she could go so long during staring contests.Â
She closed her eyes. Water sprung behind her eyelids, desperate to not dry anymore. She groaned and rubbed them with her fingertips. A feeling behind the nose similar to mustering up a sneeze began to form. She slumped back against the chair, beat. She was close to losing the fight of staying awake.
What helped turn the tide of the battle was the sound of machine beep beep beeping. It was connected to the little girlâs wrist - a constant drone of life. A heartbeat. It was far too slow than it should be, which is why the little girl was still asleep. Still, it was there. She had to make sure it stayed that way.
The door to the hospital room slid open. The fluorescent lighting of the hallway leaked into the room before it was closed again. She smiled weakly at her friend. He used to always be a pillar of comfort for her. Now his shoulders were tense. His eyebrows pinched together. Always thinking. It had been that way since his daughter was diagnosed.Â
He noticed that she was still awake and frowned. âI thought youâd be getting some rest.â
She shook her head, shoving her hands in her lap to keep them warm. âI did."
The man sighed and sat on the couch beside her. She relaxed at his side and her head slowly moved, landing on his shoulder. It felt like they were both kids again, tired after playing outside all day. All they were missing was the taste of sugar lingering in their mouths.Â
She had never been great with her words. Instead, she took his hand, wrapping both of hers around it. Although the statement was merely an educated guess. Na-yeon was a very sick little girl. The medication had been working for some time, but like with other things, it didnât last long. Worse, that medication had been the last effort before something irreversible.Â
He brought their hands to his low-hanging head. A vicious headache bloomed all around the halo of his skull. He pressed his cheek into the back of her hand and she had to fight the urge to start crying. He was so warm. Much warmer than this cold building, kept at cooler temperatures so infections had a harder time spreading.
He took a shuddering breath while he held his head in their hands. She couldnât see his eyes, just the messiness of his hair. She reached forward and smoothed it back, pulling him closer at the same time. Her cheek pressed the side of his head, resting there.
âI could get a second job?â She once had said. âIt could work.â
âYou barely have enough time in the day as it is,â he said, sitting at the kitchen table with his fist wrapped around a bottle. He shook his head, shaggy hair falling in front of his eyes. Her every instinct urged her to brush it away to give him a clearer view, but she refrained from doing so. She crossed her arms instead. âBesides,â he continued. âIt just wouldnât be fair.â
âFair to me? Or fair to you?â she asked, stepping forward and crouching beside his chair, placing a hand on his thigh so he would look her in the eyes for once. âNone of this is fair, Gyeong-seok. Weâre doing everything we can.â
âDonât you understand?â he asked, fed up. He stood from her touch and took a few steps away, clasping his hands behind his neck and taking a deep breath. He turned to her, eyes harsh. âI didnât want you here to begin with. This should never have been your problem.â
Her eyes widened. She was utterly speechless.
Before she had the chance to respond, Gyeong-seok continued. âYouâre not her mother. Youâre not my wife. I shouldnât expect anything from you⌠and you shouldnât assume responsibility for us!â His voice raised at the end in frustration. He laughed without humor and brushed the hair out of his eyes. âItâs myâItâs my own shortcomings that led me to rely on you. This shouldnât be your burden.â
She bit the inside of her cheek until it hurt. She tightened the crossing of her arms and squeezed her eyes shut, only for a moment. âIs that what you think? That Iâm here because I have to be?â
He threw a hand up in the air, as if she had guessed the winning question. It landed on the back of the chair he had been sitting on. He leaned forward, anxious and restless from the stress of it all.Â
âI love Na-yeon,â she said, voice filled with tears. She could feel it in the back of her throat. She dropped her arms to her sides and gripped the sides of her dress, closing her fingers into a fist. âAnd damn it if it is a burden. Weâre aââ She cut herself off before she could say the word behind it all. Family. A word that meant certainty - and she had never been good with commitment.
His eyes softened.
âYouâre right. You would never have relied on me like you had if her mother was around.âÂ
She reached forward and took his hand, pressing it to her chest. Close to her heart, where she wouldnât let anyone else but him or Na-yeon close. âBut the truth is that you did. Iâm here now, and Iâm not going anywhere yet. Especially not now.â
Gyeong-seokâs expression softened as he took a shuddering breath. She already pulled him down into a hug before he could mutter his apology. He apologized, over and over and over. Sheâd never blame him for lashing out in this moment. But she would blame herself.Â
Later, a young woman emerged from where she had been standing in the shadows. Not necessarily hidden, per say, but the ambient lighting of the hospital didnât reveal her easily. She had become accustomed to blending in. For all intents and purposes, she seemed like an ordinary college student with a cap and jean jacket. The truth was that she knew just how to dress to be inconspicuous. That was not a skill that was needed for her anymore - except for now, it seemed.
The door to the room sheâd been staring at opened - a man following a doctor and two nurses out into the hallway. The young woman moved behind the wall, trying to not be noticed. She didnât catch the entire conversation, just bits and pieces. Medication⌠life-saving treatment⌠not covered by insuranceâŚ
When the group disappeared behind a corner, the room number loomed before her. 4104. She stepped forward and peered through the glass rectangle of the door to see a little girl lying in bed - the same little girl she had encountered at the amusement park earlier. She had wandered into the mascotâs room after their shift had completed in hopes of giving the bunny mascot a kind-hearted drawing.
But where the girlâs bright and heartfelt smile used to be was now hidden by a ventilation mask. She was hooked up to a variety of machines that kept track of her heart and breathing. Her hospital gown was too big on her - as if nobody had wanted to create such an outfit for such an undeserving patient. She was tucked in neatly to the white blankets of the bed, guardrails up to prevent her from turning over and falling.
The young woman did not expect to see another woman laid upright on the couch, eyes closed and lips softly parted. She had been laid onto the armrest of the couch carefully. A flimsy blanket had been strewn over her shoulders. She didnât recognize her - certainly she would have recognized if her co-worker was married? Could this be the girl's mother?
She was suddenly struck with a certain envy in her gut. But it quickly dissipated when the woman murmured in her sleep. Nothing eligible, but enough for her to realize that it wouldnât make a difference if this woman had her child in safe distance. She felt relieved. That she could hold her child in her arms in her worst moments.Â
Careful not to wake either of them, the young woman reached out very slowly, debatingly, and took the childâs finger gently between her own. Her eyes softened, having been reminded of a time when such touch was common.
Suddenly, as if burned, she pulled her hand back and sniffed. She reached into her bag and pulled out the crocheted strawberry hat that the little girl had dropped while she was being carried into the ambulance. Her fingers hovered over each individual stitch. So much love and care was put into this item.
She slowly and gently placed the hat atop the childâs body and stepped backward. For one moment - and one moment only - she envisioned that this little girl was her own. âIâm sorry,â she said quietly and under her breath. Her hands felt clammy and she knew it was time to leave. She turned on her heel.
By the time Gyeong-seok had returned from speaking with the doctors, he was surprised to see the hat with Na-yeon. How had it gotten there? His eyes drifted to his friend on the couch where he had gently maneuvered her so she stayed asleep. She mustâve found it and placed it there while he was gone before falling asleep again.Â
He took the item and examined it. His throat tightened as he placed it underneath Na-yeonâs arm so she could feel it when she would wake - a possible incentive to open her eyes sooner. Then, for a fleeting second, he couldâve sworn heâd seen something glow out the window in the parking lot, almost like fire.

CHILDREN
PAGE ONE
Panel 1
A group of kids of various ages, genders, and races play on a playground, looking happy.
CAPTION: Everyone thinks kids deserve the chance to be happy and safe, right?
Panel 2
The kids look up towards the sky, concern and fear coming over their faces.
CAPTION: Even the Project 2025 Mandate for Leadership says they want to ârestore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.â [2025, p. 3]
KID: What theâŚ
Panel 3
A huge slab, probably close to 100 feet tall, slams into the ground with a giant KTHOOM! Kids are thrown into the air from the force of the crash. The slab reads âProject 2025 vs. Kids.â
KIDS: AAAAGH!
CAPTION: But letâs see what Project 2025 would actually do to kids and their familiesâŚ
Panel 4
This panel is broken into two parts. In the first, we see a close up of a hand holding a can of baby formula. In the second, a father looks dubiously at the back of that baby formula bottle. Heâs holding a hungry, crying baby.
CAPTION: Deregulate baby formula.
CAPTION: Project 2025 says âlabeling regulations and regulations that unnecessarily delay the manufacture and sale of baby formula should be re-evaluated.â [2025, p. 302]
FATHER:âHang on, whatâs in this stuff anyway?
Panel 5
A kid puts her hand to her face in horror as she watches two men in red suits throw the PBS KIDS logo into the back of a garbage truck.
CAPTION: Defund educational PBS programs.
CAPTION: Project 2025 calls for defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcast. [2025, p. 246]
CAPTION: They specifically claim PBS educational programs like Sesame Street are âbiased to the Left.â [p. 247]
GIRL: NoooâŚ
Â
PAGE TWO
Panel 1
This panel is broken into two parts. The first zooms in on a kidâs hand lifting a spoonful of goopy, indeterminate food. The second shows kids siting in a cafeteria, staring down dubiously at their lunch trays. More figures in red suits and red ties loom behind them.
CAPTION: Eliminate USDA dietary guidelines.
CAPTION: Project 2025 claims that concerns about âclimate change and sustainabilityâ have âinfiltratedâ dietary guidelines that affect school lunches.
CAPTION: Their preferred solution?
CAPTION: âThe USDA should help lead an effort to repeal the Dietary Guidelines.â [2025, p. 309]
KID:âWhat is this?
MAN IN SUIT: Shut up and eat.
Panel 2
The red suited figures pick up the lunch trays, taking them away from the children. A boy is still staring at his spoon full of goop, while a girl turns around in shock as her lunch is stolen.
MAN IN SUIT: On second thoughtâŚ
GIRL: Hey!
CAPTION: Reduce of the number of free school lunches.
CAPTION: The Community Eligibility Program (CEP) âallows schools or school districts with high rates of poverty to offer meals to all students without having to qualify each student individually.â*
CAPTION: Project 2025 states âCongress should eliminate CEP.â [2025, p 303]
FOOTNOTE: *https://firstfocus.org/resource/how-project-2025-would-leave-kids-babies-hungrier-less-healthy/
Panel 3
We look over the shoulder of a red suited figure who is pointing at some kids lined up outside a school. The kids look shocked and hungry, and they are clutching empty lunch trays.
CAPTION: Eliminate summer meals for many kids.
MAN IN SUIT: Scram!
CAPTION: Furthermore, Project 2025 says âthe USDA should not provide meals to students during the summer unless students are taking summer-school classes.â
CAPTION: They call summer meals for hungry kids âa federal catering program.â [2025, p 303]
Panel 4
A group of happy preschoolers sit on the floor, raising their hands in class. A teacher with her back to us is holding a book. To the right, ominously, a man in a red suit starts to open the classroom door.
CAPTION: Eliminate Head Start.
CAPTION: The Brookings Institute says âHead Start improves educational outcomesâincreasing the probability that participants graduate from high school, attend college, and receive a post-secondary degree, license, or certification.â
CAPTION: But Project 2025 says it wants to âeliminate the Head Start program.â [2025, p. 482]
Panel 5
The red suited man points toward the door, and the teacher leads her students out of the classroom.
CAPTION: It cites instances in which Head Start children were âabused, left unsupervised, or released to an unauthorized person.â [2025, p. 482]
CAPTION: But it does not address how eliminating the program would support the approximately 800,000 children currently enrolled.
MAN IN SUIT: And stay out!
Â
PAGE THREE
Panel 1
A man in a police uniform knocks on a front door above a red Notice of Eviction thatâs been taped to it.
CAPTION: Evict more families.
CAPTION: Project 2025 wants to ârescind legal analysis that authorized HHS to impose a moratorium on rental evictions during COVID.â [2025, p. 492]
Panel 2
A family stands on a sidewalk amid their destroyed furniture, implicitly the things that were tossed out of their apartment when they were evicted. A stressed mother holds a worried child, while two elderly people hold each other. Two men in red suits carry away a low table.
CAPTION: Furthermore, Project 2025 wants to âprohibit noncitizens, including all mixed-status families, from living in all federally assisted housing.â [2025, p. 509]
CAPTION: So Project 2025 would evict a US citizen child because the grandmother she lives with is undocumentedâor even a legal resident with a green card!
Panel 3
Two children cling to a chain-link fence, staring grimly. Behind them we see a sea of tents.
CAPTION: Put immigrant kids in tents.
CAPTION: Project 2025 calls for a revision of rules for âfamily and unaccompaniedâ immigrants that âallow for large-scale use of temporary facilities (for example, tents).â [2025, p. 148]
Panel 4
Two young teenagers work in a filthy slaughterhouse. One sweeps the floor; the other, standing on a box to be tall enough to reach the table, is sorting animal carcasses.
CAPTION: Relax child labor laws.
CAPTION: Recent news articles have documented an underage worker being killed in an industrial accident.
CAPTION: But Project 2025 says âwith parental consent and proper training, certain young adults should be allowed to learn and work in more dangerous occupations.â [2025, p. 595]
PAGE FOUR
Panel 1
A line of kids of various races and genders regular, sit against a wall in a school yard. They have wary, ambivalent expressions on their faces as they gaze out toward us.
CAPTION: Project 2025 also states that âthe noxious tenets of âcritical race theoryâ and âgender ideologyâ should be excised from curricula in every public school in the country.â [2025, p. 5]
CAPTION: It never recognizes that millions of children suffer every day from racism, homophobia, sexism, and transphobia.
Panel 2
An ambulance and fire truck have pulled up to a school. In the foreground, looking at the school, we see the line of kids from the previous panel. Between the kids and the school is a line of tape that reads âPolice Line Do Not Cross.â
CAPTION: But just as important is what Project 2025 doesnât mention.
CAPTION: Nowhere in the 887-page document do the phrases âschool shootingsâ or âgun controlâ appear.
Panel 3
A wide shot of that big slab on which âPROJECT 2025 VS. KIDSâ is carved.
CAPTION: Project 2025 says it wants to âprotect our children.â
Panel 4
The slab, now in close up, starts cracking in half with a giant CRAAAAK sound effect.
CAPTION:âBut maybe our children should be protected from Project 2025.
Panel 5
The kids from the first panel of page 1 happily climb over the rubble of the destroyed slab, escaping its destruction.
KIDS: Ha haaa!
CAPTION: End.

Rooster was busy, well, sort of. He had Nicole on his chest, basically sitting on his stomach as she sucked on her bottle. Her father was playing Call of Duty with the guys, itâs been a long while since he did anything of the sort.
Jake and Coyote were the only ones online since everyone else was at the bar.
âI thought youâd go with Bea tonight.â he hears Coyote through the headset, âSince itâs her first night back after giving birth to the kids.â
Rooster leaned back slightly on the couch, trying to get comfortable with Nicole on his chest while still holding the controller. "Yeah," he replied, "And whoâd be with Nicole?"
âYou could always ask her parents,â Jake adds
âWould you do that? Talk with Cyclone since he is your father in law?â silence, âI didnât think so. Besides, her parents need a break from grandchildren. Plus I donât mind staying with Nikki.â
âWait,Nikki is there?â
Rooster looks down at his daughter whoâs happily eating - holding the bottle by herself too - while keeping her eye on theâŚconstant shooting going on in front of her, âYeah, sheâs with me.â he frowns, âMaybe this wasnât a good idea. Playing a violent war game while sheâs hereâŚâ
Coyote chuckled on the other end of the headset. "Yeah, probably not the best idea, Rooster," he said, his tone amused. "I mean, she's not even a year old yet, and you've got her witnessing virtual warfare."
Rooster sighed and set down his controller, carefully lifting Nicole from his chest. "You're right," he admitted. "I'll just have to stick to more baby-friendly games when she's around."
Jake chimed in with a grin in his voice. "Or you could give her a controller that's not connected and let her pretend to play. Start training her early!"
Rooster couldn't help but laugh at the suggestion. "Maybe in a few years," he replied but Nicole appeared very interested in that idea. â...hm.â he did place the other controller in front of her as she leaned back on the couch, her light green eyes staring down at it before she slapped her hands on it repeatedly.
The clicking and wobbling sound was enough to keep her distracted, so Rooster decided that he could go back to the game after a few seconds. She was just by his left after all. âAlright,â he says, placing the headset back on, âIâm back on it,guys.â
Rooster settled back into the game, the sounds of gunfire and explosions filling his ears as he engaged in virtual warfare with his friends. Nicole, on the other hand, was fascinated by the controller in front of her, her tiny hands batting at the buttons and joysticks. Rooster couldn't help but steal a glance at her every now and then, making sure she was content and safe.
As the game progressed, Rooster's focus shifted entirely to the action on the screen. He was deep in concentration, strategizing with Jake and Coyote as they navigated the game. The headset buzzed with their voices, coordinating their moves and communicating with the rest of their team.
Nicole, on the other hand, had grown tired of the controller and was now happily babbling to herself, seemingly entertained by the sights and sounds of the game. Rooster couldn't help but smile at her antics, even as he continued to play.
The game was intense, and the competition was fierce. Rooster's heart raced as he engaged in virtual battles, his reflexes put to the test.Â
At one point, Nicole decided to try her hand at crawling, and Rooster glanced down just in time to see her little hands and knees on the floor. He quickly paused the game and gently scooped her up, placing her back on his lap. "No crawling during game time, little one," he said with a chuckle, earning a gurgling response from Nicole.
Coyote's voice came through the headset. "Everything okay over there, Rooster?"
Rooster nodded, his attention divided between the game and Nicole. "Yeah, just a baby on the move," he replied. "I've got it under control."
Jake laughed. "You're in for a whole new level of multitasking, my friend."
âWhy?â he asks, setting Nicole next to him, âJake Jr. being a handful?â
âStill canât believe you naked your son after you.â
âShut up,Coyote. Also yes, heâs barely a few weeks old and heâsâŚloud.â Jake replies just as he shoots a few other enemies âA few days ago he started crying and when I went to check on him, nothing was wrong. He just stopped when Evelyn showed up.â
Rooster chuckled at Jake's comment. "Sounds like he knows how to keep you on your toes," he said, his eyes darting back to the game screen as he resumed playing. "And hey, he's just following in his old man's footsteps, causing a ruckus."
Coyote chimedin. "Must be a family trait, then," he said, his character in the game providing covering fire for Rooster's advance. "Also Jake Jr. is a mamaâs boy, thatâs obvious.â
âI hate you two.â
âLove you too,Jake.â
With the conversation being so light, Rooster didnât want to ruin with what he wanted to ask. In fact, he pondered if he shouldâŚbut what happened between Mark and McAllister bothered him to no end, he really wanted his friendsâ opinions on it.
Coyote's character was in the middle of a firefight when Rooster finally broached the topic. "Hey, guys," he began tentatively, "I wanted to talk to you about something."
Coyote glanced at Rooster's character on the screen while still keeping his trigger finger busy. "Shoot, what's on your mind, Rooster?" he snorts âGet it? Shoot, hahah.â
Jake, on the other hand, was fully engaged in the game, tossing grenades and taking down enemies with precision. "Yeah, man, spill the beans," he said, his focus unwavering.
Rooster took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "So, you remember Mark Halton, right?" he began, keeping his voice low so as not to disturb Nicole, who was now attempting to stack her building blocks on the couch.Â
"Of course," Coyote replied. "Who doesnât?"
"Well, something weird happened the other day. He invited Bea and me to dinner at his place with his wife, Miranda. It was...odd. But I told you guys about that already, itâs about him trying to befriend McAllister and the other recruits."
Coyoteâs character popping out from cover to take out an enemy. "What's the deal with this guy, anyway? There's something fishy going on."
Rooster nodded, his character in the game moving cautiously through a virtual warzone as he continued to explain. "Yeah, that's the thing. It's not just the dinner itself; it's the way he's been acting. And McAllister said that he thought him and I were friends."
Jake snorted over the headset  âYeah, right," he commented. "Why would he be so interested in McAllister and the others? And what's in it for him?"
"That's what I can't figure out," Rooster admitted, his character's movements mirroring his contemplation, he just kept himself hidden for the time being. "I mean, it could be harmless, but something about it just feels off."
Coyote took a moment to reload his virtual weapon before responding. "I donât think itâs like that man. Didnât you also say he was kind of hounding Mav too?"
Rooster leaned back on his couch, rubbing his temples. "Yeah. He was. Mav wasâŚhe didnât like it,â his uncle used other words but wouldnât be too far behind, âYou guys know how he is, he doesnât like the whole fanfare about his accomplishments.â
Coyote's character moved in-game, expertly dodging enemy fire as he spoke. "Yeah, Mav's always been low-key about stuff. Doesn't like the spotlight."
Jake's character was still dishing out damage left and right. "So, this Halton dude is all over the place, trying to buddy up with Mav and inviting you guys for dinner. What's his game, though?"
"That's the million-dollar question," Rooster replied, his virtual character sneaking up behind an enemy and taking them down with a silent takedown. "He's been acting really friendly, but it feels forced, you know? And he's got this way of making you feel like you owe him something."
Coyote hummed , taking cover behind a virtual crate. "I get it. Like he's buttering you up for something, but you're not sure what."
âIâŚguess?â Rooster says quietly, âBut I donât get it, heâs been hounding me,Mav and everyone else for weeks nowâŚand Miranda annoys Bea to now end, I have to say, she even talked back to that woman at dinner.â
Coyote's character expertly maneuvered through the warzone, taking down enemies left and right. "Yeah, that Miranda woman sounds like a piece of work," he commented, his voice filled with irritation. "I can't stand people who think they're better than everyone else."
Rooster's character was providing cover fire as he responded, his mind still troubled by the situation. "I don't know, guys. It's all just so strange. He acts like we're old buddies or something, but I barely know the guy."
Jakeâs character tossed another grenade, taking out a group of virtual enemies. "You should be careful, man," he cautioned. "Donât give them too much ground to maneuver."
Rooster nodded in agreement, his character switching to a sniper rifle as they moved to a vantage point. "Yeah, I've got that feeling too," he admitted. "But what could he possibly want from us? We're just regular people living our lives."
Coyoteâs character led the charge again, pushing forward in the game. "Well, we're not just regular people, Rooster. You're a respected officer in the Navy, Mav is a decorated war hero, and we're all part of a tight-knit community. Maybe he's after connections or something."
Jake chimed in after killing a few more people "That could be it. Maybe he sees us as a way to climb some social or career ladder."
Rooster's character took out an enemy sniper with a well-placed shot. "It's possible, but it still doesn't explain the weird dinner invitation and all the other stuff. And why is he so fixated on McAllister and the other recruits?"
âHell if I know.â
âWell,â Coyote begins âYou lead McAllisterâs squad at the last mission when uhhhâŚJaws and Raptor fucked up.â
"Yeah," he responded thoughtfully, "I unfortunately remember that day.."
Jake's character managed to kill three people in one go and he couldnât help the delighted âwoo!â before he spoke again. "Doesnât make a lot of sense honestly.â
âIt doesnât.â Rooster agrees, sighing through his nose while looking over at Nicole. His daughter was still happily playing with her blocks on the couch, with Eleanor coming over to sniff her before she trotted off to bark at the door, âSeems too much, I mean,we both are pilots. We are both in the NavyâŚwhat else would there be to talk about? Do youâŚguys think heâs jealous?Â
âMaybe.â
âYeah, maybe. I mean, I wonât lie Rooster, he did try to talk to everyone at some point, isnât that right Jake?â Jake hums positively on the headset âAnd we donât really know how to talk to the guy, especially since we heard from you that he has family on the higher ups. Do we even know who it could be?â
The virtual battleground around them was a chaotic mix of explosions, gunfire, and shouts, but their discussion carried on uninterrupted through their headsets.
Chaos everywhere it seemed.Â
"Yeah, you're right," Rooster replied, his character maintaining a vigilant watch over the battlefield. "It's strange how he's so⌠fixated is all."
Coyote then asked, â...you guys think heâs going to join us in the coming deployment?â
Silence for a few seconds.
Then Jake replies with âI guess so? I havenât seen anything in the file though.â
âLovely.â Rooster mutters while moving the joystick about, âI mean,Iâll be doing my job like I always do but, he better not act how he did at dinner.â he says, âHim and his wife already bothered me and Bea enough.â he then sighs, checking the time and then looking back at Nicole, âGuys, quick break,Nikki has to eat.â
âYeah,me too man.â
âI have to check on the little man.â Jake says, his voice growing distant but he kept explaining how Jake Jr. was a bit fussy that night. Rooster, once heâs done playing, stretches his arms above his head and groans happily, rubbing his face with both hands before looking back at Nicole.
She was still happily playing, bottle empty and forgotten by her side as she balances the blocks on the futon, only looking back when she felt eyes on her, âDada!â she giggles, then points at the âsculptureâ she just made with prideâŚand a lot of baby noises.
"Hey there, birdie," Rooster cooed, brushing a lock of hair from Nicole's face. "You're quite the artist, aren't you?Just like mama." He admired the block arrangement she had crafted, feigning astonishment with a playful gasp. Nicole giggled in response, her bright eyes filled with joy.
"Yeah, you've got some serious talent," Rooster continued, grinning as he played along with her. "I think you've outdone Picasso with this one, sweetheart." he frowns, âDid Picasso sculpt? I gotta ask Bea when she gets back. But now-â he picks Nicole up and stands from the couch,âTime for your dinner, baby girl.â
Rooster cradled Nicole in his arms as he made his way to the kitchen, leaving behind the virtual battlefield.Â
Rooster gently set Nicole down in her high chair, strapping her in securely. Her small hands reached out, grasping at the colorful toys hanging from the tray of the chair, a little world of her own.
As Rooster prepared Nicole's dinner, he couldn't help but check his phone for any message from Bea. He was aware it was about time for her break, so they could talk a little bit before she got back to work.
Roos (20:08)
Hey :) <3
Roos (20:08)
Just wanted to check on you, gorgeous. Everything good there?
Her message popped a few seconds after
Bea (20:09)
Hi Roos! Everything is great! The bar is packed but Iâm not as rusty as I thought i was.Iâm still serving people as before ! How are you and Nikki? Everything alright?
Roos (20:10)
We're good over here, gorgeous. Nicole just created a masterpiece with her building blocks, and now she's eagerly waiting for her dinner. How's the crowd at the bar tonight? Any interesting stories?
Bea (20:11)
Haha, sounds like you two are having fun! Oh, you know, the usual mix of characters at the bar. There's a group of regulars playing darts in the corner, and there's this guy who keeps insisting he can sing like Sinatra and trying to touch the piano. It's always entertaining, that's for sure.Â
Rooster couldn't help but smile at Bea's response. Even though they were physically apart, it felt like she was right there with him, sharing the little moments of their lives.Â
Or maybe, just maybe, he was clingy and needed his wife.
Roos (20:13)
I wish I could be there to hear Sinatra wannabe and tell him to not touch the piano because thatâs my thing. Nicole misses her mama, though. She keeps pointing at your picture on the fridge and saying, "Mama."
Bea (20:15)
Aww, my heart! Tell Nicole that Mama misses her too, and I'll be home before she knows it.Â
As Rooster finished preparing Nicole's dinnerâa small bowl of mashed sweet potatoes and peasâ he glanced at Nicole and whispered, "Mama will be home soon, baby girl." Nicole responded with a toothy grin, her eyes still fixated on the colorful toys.
Roos (20:17)
I'll be sure to pass on the message. Can't wait for you to be back home with us. By the way, did Picasso sculpt anything? You are the one with a degree in visual arts and you are smart with that part.
Bea (20:19)
Yes, he had a few done. Why?
Roos (20:21)
I called Nikki Picasso and I didnât even know if I should, heh.
Bea (20:23)
Haha! Well, Picasso is a pretty cool nickname, I must say. Maybe she'll be the next artistic genius in the family.
Roos (20:25)
Wouldn't be surprised if she was. She's got her mama's talent, that's for sure.Â
Bea (20:27)
Flatterer. Anything else going on?
Roos (20:29)
Well, besides Nicole's newfound talent as a block architect, not much happening on my end. Just the usual work stuff, you know how it is. But I just played some Call of Duty with the guysâŚand yeah thatâs it.
Beatrice hummed on the other end and he knew she didnât believe him, he still had to share about what Mark did at the base when she gets back.
Bea (20:29)
Well, alrightâŚhey, can you come pick me up? Shells is leaving early and she was my ride until then.
Roos (20:29)
Um,yes?Absolutely. I miss you so much :)Â
Bea (20:30)
You are too cuteâŚsee you soon then?
Roos (20:30)
You bet gorgeous ;)

Homestuck Bookclub had to be delayed to Saturday this time, but we'll meet on Thursday this week! Inspired by my shining example, the other newcomer has begun taking notes. Unlike me, recording my thoughts, they're recording everything.
These are my notes from week 2, 215 through 537:
229: I wonder if Roseâs relationship to her mom isnât going to be the foil I expected. Setting aside what Rose has said, her mom seems like sheâs into more established, antiquated versions of what Rose is into, much like John and his dad. John doesnât recognize the things he has in common with his father, not seeing the forest of âwe both like goofy comedyâ for the tree of âdad loves harlequins,â and seeing that aspect of his father in isolation, seeing it as something weird and foreign. John is frustrated with his dad, and that affects how he sees his dad and his actions. Rose seems to be interpreting a lot of what her mother does with irony and malice, but itâs easy to imagine something similar. What if Rose is frustrated for her mother, and sees the things they have in common as mockery instead of common ground?
246: I really thought the meteor would get stopped! Char told me sburb ended the world but didnât say how or when, I kinda thought John and Rose might overcome this part.
251: Evangelion reference
272: Especially ethnic wedding??
278: Itâs cute that John is visibly delighted when Rose grabs the copy of Sassacreâs.
303: Homestuck predicted bone hurting juice
311: I think I have heard Daveâs name more than Johnâs in all these years.
326: Holy shit 1:
12: get my nacho on aAUUUH
34: I really like the UV weedcoin texture
43: David accidentally drew a face too well.
52: Iâm actually watching the character David is playing become a better artist
54: Iâm not caught up on Prequel, Iâm not caught up on Homestuck, but by god, I am caught up on Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff.
331: The little guy doesnât have a weapon, heâs just getting the shit beat out of him.
338: testing my senses using every button.
362: Further evidence for Roseâs mom actually being cool.
369: You canât show me this sequence and tell me these two donât feel deep love for one another. Those definitely were a lot of liquor bottles but Iâm ignoring those to support my theory.
382: Dave is the only one who doesnât seem to avoid his family. Dude seems to really look up to his brother.
421: I appreciate Johnâs dad in this 2v1. Sure he lost but clearly he was kicking ass up to that point. They canât even get close to him.
440: Strong suspicion Roseâs kernel will be prototyped with her cat.
442: GG agrees with my strong suspicion and also seems to be able to see the future.
509: I bet this guyâs a shadow demon
510: Real high horse about racist aphorisms ms âespecially ethnic weddingâ
522: Dave the PC term is âMy own personal 9/11â
523: CAPTCHA!? CAPTCHALOGUE!?

Week #36
246. The Hill Of Knowledge: An publisher of Encyclopedias. Contains the accumulated knowledge of Muravey, shipped to your door one article per day. Its a very expensive subscription, but you can never underestimate the price⌠of KNOWLEDGE!
247. Smelling Salts: A cube shaped shop. Fountain's best smelling salts, collated and compiled just for you! It is said that these salts ward off nightmares, and allows you to retain information from dream visions.
248. The Arena Of Sages: A ball game stadium. The best contemporary philosophers of the Thoatl play ballgames here, working their serpentine bodies and brains. The hecklers on the stalls enjoy distracting them with fried chicken.
249. Aphid Alphie's Answers: The server of a Q&A website. Just like any Questions and Answer sites, you can answer anyone's questions, and gain thumbsups for being helpful. Unlike other such sites, the most helpful people each year will get several bottles of delicious Giant Aphid Milk for free.
250. The Crater School: A night school. The Marketing and Business degrees, dripping with oil, are consired especially prestigious. Of course, you'll have to navigate the Crater's underground labyrinth, because the faculty is as mean as top managers.
251. Final Factotum: A company that works on VR schools. The axis running it believe the greatest gift of all is knowledge, but they also believe that the best way to share it vie medieval battle simulation. The winner of each round Factotum Of Facts, who gets access to the divine lore (history snippets).
252. Preventing The Sixth Garden: Unremarkable building. Rumour has it, heavily armed Core Prime robot officials have been seen looking dramatically towards the sky. Axy and Thoatl scientists scurry in and out when nobody is looking, whispering something about⌠cyborg snails?

Blog 2 of 246 Class
So for this week class we continue to work on logotype for Soda City, the one I went with is where the S in soda is big and oda look like the bubbles is a soda and made the city cursive. I really the idea mainly because I think it fit the theme of Soda City and kinda is very unique in it own way. With the things people suggested like maybe using different letters types because some donât blend well, or maybe try just drawing over the letters and scan them in trace them in illustrator to make the letters look less like robotic and make more look like itâs hand drawn. I wanna maybe add some bubbles to solidify more that the oda in soda is supposed to represent the bubbles in a soda bottle or can but as of right know I just wanna perfect the letter types and find ways to make the logotype look less robotic. Anyways I think the project is going well I just need to do some teaks here and there and I think it will turn out good.

U Shaped Baby Pillow
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a49d3df4bc9b347cf8804148dcfa65bf/3663f67645392379-d7/s400x600/f794a214c182433389eed56ca9fd99c1aa2f803f.webp)
Prevention of Flat Head Syndrome: One common concern among parents is the risk of flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly) in infants, which can occur due to prolonged pressure on one area of the skull. U-shaped baby pillows can help mitigate this risk by evenly distributing pressure and providing support to the baby's head. This can help prevent the development of flat spots and promote healthy skull development.
Promotion of Comfortable Feeding: In addition to supporting your baby's sleep, U-shaped baby pillows can also be used during feeding sessions. Placing the pillow around your waist provides a comfortable and supportive surface for your baby to rest on while nursing or bottle-feeding. This can help reduce strain on your arms and shoulders, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable feeding experience for both you and your baby.
Versatile Usage: U-shaped baby pillows are not limited to sleep and feeding sessions; they can also be used in various other scenarios to enhance your baby's comfort. Whether it's providing extra support during tummy time, propping up your baby during supervised play, or creating a cozy nest for lounging, these pillows offer versatility and convenience for parents and caregivers.

Process Blog Five
Reading Response:
Chapter Fifteen of the textbook reading Becoming a Graphic and Digital Designer: A Guide to Careers in Design, by Steven Heller, pages 246-253) is about interface design. Interface design is incredibly important in modern society. Bad interface design is incredibly disruptive in someone's online experience. With the dependence of people's entertainment, education, and careers on all things digital it has placed a demand on people who are able to study and professionally execute well designed interfaces. It's very important for designers to understand how an interface can be navigated effortlessly and efficiently, even if they do not do interface design. If a designer is designing something for a website or an app, it is still important and useful to know a bit about what their design might be surrounded by, what users are used to, what the design's purpose is going to be, etc. even if they are not the ones putting together the interface as it can help to make an interface designer's job easier and make the interface better for users and their client.
Reflection:
This week's process blog is about syntax and semantics. I am lucky enough to have already learned about syntax and semantics in a different class, so I was pretty comfortable with this assignment. The item that I chose was a water bottle. I googled water bottles, and used the tools feature for searching Google's images to make sure that the background would be transparent and the file size of the images would be large enough to have a good amount of detail. When searching for images, I kept in mind the different denotations, connotations, feelings, and presences that the water bottles I was seeing would have in order to try and pick four fairly distinct water bottles for this assignment. I chose a pastel metal water bottle, a squeeze-style sports water bottle, a plastic disposable water bottle, and a kids baby shark themed water bottle.

Before bringing everything into InDesign I pulled the images into Google Docs in order to figure out what I wanted to write about each image's syntax and semantics.
I then brought everything into InDesign and made sure to get the formatting and the fonts how I wanted in order to match the example assignments.

Leilani lost 50 pounds
New Post has been published on https://eazydiet.net/leilani-lost-50-pounds/
Leilani lost 50 pounds
Transformation of the Day:Â Leilani lost 50 pounds. This busy mother of five told us how she released the weight by making healthy meals, working out, and focusing on her goals.
Social Media: Instagram:Â @his_almondjoyÂ
My name is Leilani, and I have five children. (22 yr old son, 17yr old daughter, 8 yr old daughter, and 7 yr old boy girl twins) I am a wife, mom, employee, and entrepreneur, so I fight to stay on track. However, the example I want to be for my family, friends, and myself is bigger than any distraction.Â
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up? My Motivation: I did not feel comfortable at the size I was, and I was ready to look n feel my best.Â
My inspiration: I knew it was possible if I didnât give up. I had some failed days, but I didnât let those days turn into months.Â
How did you change your eating habits? I changed my eating habits by making healthy meals I love. I take my time with them, not rushing and making them taste exactly how I want. Also, I didnât eat once the sun went down.Â
I ate a lot of fruit. I snacked on fresh pineapples, cantaloupe, and watermelon all day. I also put lemon and limes in my water bottles. I love oatmeal and fruit for breakfast or a smoothie with almond milk. I had quinoa rice packed with broccoli, corn, onions, and peppers (sometimes with shrimp or without). I only had juice, soda, or a cake snack once every two weeks.Â
Tell us about your workout routine. I worked out 3-5 days a week. I did 20 to 40 minutes of cardio and 90 situps.Â
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 296 pounds (the heaviest Iâve ever been). My current weight is 246 pounds, and Iâm still on my journey to be under 200 pounds.Â
What is your height? I am 5â7âł.Â
When did you begin your journey? I started my journey on 5/1/2023. I reached 50 pounds lost on 6/29/2023. (A lil over eight weeks.)Â
What is the biggest lesson youâve learned so far? The biggest lesson I learned is that your off days are not meant to make you feel like you canât do it. Those days can show you your triggers so you can handle yourself differently next time. Donât let YOUR FEELINGS control you.Â
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? I advise anyone trying to lose weight to PRAY for what you seek because some of the hardest things we will do can not be done alone. That spiritual push will get you over the threshold every time. Ask and see. If it seems like you are hitting a wall, you still need to learn something so your foundation is not weak. This has worked for me.
