Italy demonstrates integration of fifth-generation jets in NATO Air Police in 🇵🇱 Poland

Four Italian Eurofighters landed in Malbork, Poland, on February 13, ready to replace the Italian F-35 jets and continue NATO's enhanced air policing.

"With the continuous control of the mission of our F-35 units, we have proven Italy's ability to support NATO with state-of-the-art air policing means on the eastern flank," said Colonel Antonio Vergallo, commander of the Air Task Force of the 32ª Wing and, in a few days, of the Air Task Force of the 4ª Wing that will ensure improved air policing from Malbork. "We also highlight the versatility of the Italian Air Force in operating the Eurofighters from a base that was used by the F-35s in an deployed environment. The true integration of fifth-generation fighters in action!" he added.

Since November, Italy had deployed 150 Italian Air Force men operating four of its F-35s in Malbork. The Italian Eurofighters have arrived to continue the reinforced NATO Air Policing mission in Poland and will protect the skies on the eastern flank with Polish and other Allied combat planes in the coming months.

Hinterland Aviation is a public charter airline offering both charter and scheduled flight. The airline was founded in 1984 and currently has its base at Cairns Airport in Queensland, Australia. In 1992, the airline was acquired by Trailfinders, a retail travel company, who led the airline into the tourism charter industry. There are currently five destinations served by the airline with a fleet of small but efficient turboprop aircraft. The airline is operating with over 10 aircraft in its fleet. Day 208b: Friday July 26, 2024 - "Open The Gate"

Wasted no time - literally, in getting out of town, headed East, in search of the roads home. Dropped down off the interstate at first chance and started following the two lane blue highways towards Michigan. Open the Gate - Im here to prove.

Followed the ticking of the electrical poles and that yellow striped compadre, following my map perfectly to a place I'd put my finger on, Turkey Texas - which was about the perfect little Texas town lit up at night - plenty of character there. I drove on for another hour, to land myself at the Oklahoma border. A beautiful drive, across the quiet parts on the map - Encino, Fort Sumner, Clovis, Tulia, Childress.

Got stopped on a road that looked about like this and charmed my way through the New Mexican State Trooper who decided not to give me my first speeding ticket but warned of his buddies ahead who will be watching for me - scraped by despite being 18 over to keep my perfect record intact. He advised me to not speed until Texas, but it forced me to stay better focused all the way home - and with as many little towns Id cross through on these blue highways late at night, that definitely helped!

USAF will test autonomous flight capabilities on the KC-135 tanker

Merlin, a developer of safe and autonomous flight technology, announced that it has signed an agreement with the United States Air Force (USAF), aimed at a collaboration, carried out in conjunction with the Air Mobility Command (AMC) and the Air Force Material Command (AFMC), with the aim of integrating and demonstrating Merlin's advanced Pilot system in the iconic KC-135 Stratotanker air refueling tanker.

The multi-year partnership between Merlin and USAF is scheduled to introduce a gradual approach to improve the capabilities of the KC-135, starting with reducing the crew workload and advancing towards unmanned autonomous operations. This ambitious initiative represents a major advance in improving the mission readiness and operational efficiency of the U.S. Air Force.

Merlin's innovative Pilot system, designed to allow safe and autonomous flights for fixed-wing aircraft, will undergo rigorous phases of testing and demonstrations to validate its performance and reliability. Integration into the KC-135, a key asset in the USAF fleet for more than six decades, represents an important milestone in Merlin's quest to advance automation systems for military applications.

Matt George, CEO and co-founder of Merlin, expressed confidence in the potential of the partnership to shape the future of air operations, stating: "The integration into one of the most abundant and important military aircraft in the USAF fleet allows Merlin to materially evolve our advanced automation systems, which includes enabling autonomous flight in closed formation for the KC-135".

Merlin already tests Pilot technology on C208 Caravan aircraft.

Mokulele Airlines is an American commuter airline operating in Hawaii. The airline operates scheduled inter-island and charter flights among all Hawaiian islands with airports. The airline was founded in 1994 as Mokulele Flight Service by Rebecca "Kawehi" Inaba and was the first airline in Hawaii to be founded by a Native Hawaiian woman. In 2019, it was acquired by Southern Airways Express, but it continues to operate as its own brand within the larger airline. In June 2020, Makanai Kai Air was also acquired by Southern, and its aircraft now fly in Mokulele livery.
