“ I huff a laugh and roll my eyes. You’re the worst. “You’ll love me someday.” One of my steps falters. Today is that day. Maybe yesterday too. And the day before that. Maybe for a while, in fact. I can’t tell exactly when it started, but I don’t think it will ever stop. ― Brynne Weaver, Butcher & Blackbird so so good

Read PALADIN'S HOPE by T. Kingfisher if you love doctor dramas, *buddy-cop narratives, mysterious corpses, secret powers, vegetarians, being trapped in a maze, definitely not kissing your hook-ups, cross-cultural exchanges of knowledge, deadly obstacle courses, pretty men & apples.
*A gnole definitely says ACAB, tho

2024 reading wrap-up
Although this was another busy year, I did actually hit both of my overall reading goals for the year, they were: 100 books, 50 of which were book-books (so not audio books). Read the post to see everything I read!
Although this was another busy year, I did actually hit both of my overall reading goals for the year, they were: 100 books, 50 of which were book-books (so not audio books). I did have to squeeze a few short books to make it happen but as I always say, all reading is reading and considering how hectic some months this year were, I don’t mind that I managed it the way that I did. Everything I…

10 Book Recs...
Last night I hit 100 books for my #2024Reads (goal is 120), so in honor of that, here are ten recs:
John Carreyrou, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup (nonfiction but reads like a thriller)
Claire Keegan, Small Things Like These (tender and haunting and has found a forever place in my heart)
Martha Wells, Network Effect (maybe the pièce de résistance of the Murderbot Series?)
Michael Lewis, Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon (sobering. And weird)
Louise Glück, The Seven Ages (one of my favorites)
George Eliot, Daniel Deronda (uneven, but with flashes of greatness)
J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan (better read as a grown-up)
Elizabeth George Speare, The Witch of Blackbird Pond (a classic)
C.S. Lewis, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (timeless)
Pierce Brown, Light Bringer (but only if you've read the whole series, of course)

I love you,” I whisper. “You could throw my entire world into upheaval, and I would still love you. You could keep secrets, run a revolution, frustrate the shit out of me, probably ruin me, and I would still love you. I can’t make it stop. I don’t want to. You’re my gravity. Nothing in my world works without you.” ― Rebecca Yarros, Iron Flame my heart is so full (first book of 2024)

A Relationship With God
The Lord wants you to discover the freedom, satisfaction, and joy found through a relationship with Him.
December 20, 2024Reading OptionsAAARelated Scripture1 John 4:7-10Romans 5:12Romans 3:23Romans 6:23Deuteronomy 17:1Hebrews 10-11
1 John 4:7-10
Intimate relationships are characterized by a close connection with another person and a commitment to his or her well-being. Acquaintances have superficial information about us, but true friends know our deeper emotions, thoughts, and desires—and God wants to have this kind of relationship with us.
However, human sinfulness made that seem impossible. We all were born with an inherited sin nature (Romans 5:12) and have rebelled against God’s perfect authority (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23). Neither good works nor moral values can overcome the problem. Thankfully, God’s solution is to change our nature so we can be a part of His family. However, divine justice must still be satisfied, and only a perfect sacrifice can pay for our sins (Deuteronomy 17:1). Throughout history, only one qualified: Jesus, who gave His life so we could have a relationship with the Father.
The Father has done everything necessary for us to be in His family and experience intimacy with Him. Have you entered into a relationship with Him through the saving work of His Son? If not, make today your spiritual birthday by receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. This Christmas season, discover the gifts of freedom, satisfaction, and joy that are found in Him.
Bible in One Year: Hebrews 10-11
