5/23 - It's Robin Fire Emblem Time

Anyways, now that I caught your attention, hello to all who haven't been keeping up with this project! Over the last 6 months I've been making a cosplay of Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening to compete in my state's biggest cons costume contest. But not just any Robin, no no, I'm going as my favorite redesign of her, by @lordyunaa!

The con is tomorrow. The costume (minus some touch up on the bangs but that is a forever problem) is now complete, in the nick of time. My competition is on Saturday night, and I will be posting the video of my performance, in whatever quality my friends can manage to film it in, but because of its timing, I probably won't be getting that out until the 26th. Anyways let's stop beating around the bush, what did I get done today? - Repaired decoration on shoes that were peeling up - Repaired tack on coat that is stubborn and has broken like 4 times - made an attachment mechanism for my thoron tome so I do not have to carry it all weekend. This was done using magnets, one of each pair sewn into ribbons and the other glued and taped down inside the box. The original thought was to attach the ribbons on the outside, but it was not strong enough...

And then the rest was wig styling. I didn't get photos of this because my phone was busy being used as a reference to stare at robin and also getting covered in spray glue. The bangs especially will get touched back up in the morning. But then came the moment I've been waiting for. Putting the costume on! It was magical, I did a happy dance when I got to the biggest mirror in my house auyewhyuehuwheuh yes my face is censored. You don't need to see me somehow still not know how to look at a camera (god I hope i know how to emote to real human beings, I can't check.)

Also I did make the hand things. I forgot to put them on! Oops! It's been a great time making this costume for the last 6 months, but I need to get ready for the morning! I have a long weekend in front of me! Thank you all for sticking around, me up on stage dancing in a few days!

Not sure how to contact your Michigan state representatives? Text RESIST to 50409 and Resistbot will walk you through it.

It's easy, it takes about 5 minutes, and you can do it from your couch/bed/puddle of despair.

Tips for contacting elected officials:

1) If you're asking them to vote YES or NO on something, say that in the first line. Bonus points if you can tag the actual bill (HB/House Bill) number.

2) Only include ONE issue per communication.

3) 1&2 are because these are being skimmed by interns who keep a running tally of what each communication is about. One communication = one point.

3a) Don't be a dick to the interns. Their lives are hard enough.

4) Keep it short. One sentence very clearly stating what you want. One or two sentences about why they should care about what you want ("As a resident of your district, I know you agree that SOMETHING SOMETHING FREEDOM, SOMETHING SOMETHING LIBERTY, SOMETHING SOMETHING THINK OF THE CHILDREN.") Appeal to the person they claim to be in their campaign ads. Get it, give them clear instructions, get out.

5) No profanity.

6) No threats.

7) No memes/ slang/ sarcasm/ lols. You are cosplaying as someone who thinks salt is too spicy and whose greatest joy in life is sorting their collection of plain white socks.

8) 5, 6, & 7 are because anything you communicate to an elected official will become a matter of public record. It goes into a file. And if anyone ever pulls that file, you want to be on record as the most boring, conscientious, polite, non-threatening motherfucker who ever lived.

Welcome to the third annual Sailor Moon Rare Pair Week! The event will take place from March 24th - March 30th, 2024, but I'm announcing the themes early to give everyone plenty of time to create their fanworks.

What counts as a rare pair for this event, you ask? Any pairing that isn't Usagi/Mamoru (or any of their incarnations), pretty much! (Don’t get too hung up on the word “rare”. Just roll with it, okay?) They usually have their own week, so this event is a chance for fans to show their love for pairings other than the Miracle Romance, canon or not. You can even include poly, platonic, and cross-over ships, if you'd like! Almost anything goes, as long as you follow some simple guidelines.

Fanworks should somehow incorporate the one of the day's themes. (You can pick just one; you don't have to use both.) How you choose the interpret the theme is up to you!

A non-UsaMamo pair must be the MAIN focus of the work (although Usagi/Mamoru can appear as a side pairing or as part of a polycule).

All ratings allowed.

No smut involving underage characters, which I'm defining as under 18 years old. Otherwise, as long as the characters are portrayed as adults in the fanwork, go wild! Just please make sure to properly tag.

Pairings of all sexual/romantic orientations welcome.

Fanfics should be a minimum of 500 words. Poetry may be shorter, though. (If you would prefer to write drabbles instead, you can write five separate 100-word drabbles about the day's themes, but a day's entry should still be at least 500 words long. You have over four months until the week begins and plenty of time afterward if you don't finish in time. That's plenty of time to write 500 words. I don't think that's too much to ask.) If you're writing fanfic, I REALLY would prefer you post your fics on AO3 or Fanfiction.net and provide a link to your story, but if you must post on Tumblr itself, please make use of the "Read More" option.

Fanart should be a completed drawing. (Any fanart portraying nudity or anything of an R/NC-17 nature should be cropped if immediately visible on your Tumblr post and/or posted with the appropriate community label. You can post the full image under a "Read More" or provide a link to the image on another site.)

Graphics, image boards, playlists, cosplay photos, crafts, meta/essays, etc. are also welcome!

Comments, kudos, and reblogs are encouraged, but don't be a jerk! If you're not a fan of a pairing, please just ignore and move on.

2023 Letter.

Here we are again. It’s been a year since my last letter. This is my last post for 2023. I included a bunch of unreleased VP again.

Read the letter below:

This year has been a rollercoaster in many ways. It’s really easy to focus on the negative because it seems to take up so much space. But it’s important to take some time and think about the positive in life too to get some perspective.

Life is made up of tiny moments of happiness after all. ❤️

The Cyberpunk 2077 community is very important to me. "Stuff" we may or may not agree with is bound to happen no matter where we are, IRL or online. But no matter who you are, in the end we all want the same things; feel like we belong, make connections with people, escape real life for a while, have fun and feel safe.

I'm a broken record lol, but... Without you there wouldn't even be a community whatsoever. Thank you for being part of it and making it fun! ❤️

So, back to reminiscing on 2023...

If you know me, you know I'm a stubborn perfectionist. With that comes pessimism, but I’ve grown and gained a more positive outlook on life, which is something I’m proud of. It's not often I'm proud of something, striving for perfectionism and all, so admitting this is a huge achievement for me. I know I'm always gonna be a perfectionist when it comes to my art though, but that just forces me to be a better artist, so it's not all bad... As long as I don't overdo it, which is something I'm working on. My goal for 2024 is to stop being so hard on myself and upload more to Tumblr. ❤️

I started doing OC gif giveaways this year, and I definitely wanna do more, and not just gifs but VP too. I do these because I want to spread, excuse the cringe lol, happiness and positivity. I love to give back. It gives me purpose in life.

I started modding as well, which I wanted to do for months, but I was too scared because it seemed so complicated... But I did it. I'm proud I went out of my comfort zone for once.

So, Dear Everyone ❤️, once again...

Thank you for sharing your incredible art, writing, cosplay, mods, and the list goes on. I hope 2023 treated you well, if not, let's make 2024 beyond amazing! I want you to know that you make my day better no matter what is happening in my life. The simplest joke in a tag or a simple hi in a DM make me smile and laugh. And if this is how I feel, just know you make other people you've never met before feel this way too. I think that's pretty cool.

One day I might have to leave Cyberpunk 2077 behind, because that's how life goes sometimes. And that’s sad to think about... I’m not ready to put it behind me yet. At the same time it means that this community, and my OCs and yours will always have a place in my heart.

I will never forget you.

I don't even know what else! seems like you can do it all! Well, what was supposed to be me talking about how much I loved the experience of getting to get up on stage and do a dance and show you all the dance has somehow been usurped, I promise the video is in this post, just keep scrolling and you can see Robin Fire Emblem by @lordyunaa on motion in stage.

But first I have to talk about this.

.... WHAT

Yes I know it's a representation of my time, skill and energy to make a costume the judges described as "Absolutely amazing, one of the cleanest we've seen from a novice. We absolutely loved everything they did". But also it doesn't feel real you know? But uh. I mean the trophy proves otherwise. It's time for me to take a few months off and then start planning something with my new skills and then make good on the joke the event MC made that once people do one contest they show back up for more. Also, on the whole process now that it's done. This has been a lot of fun. It's been a nice costume to work on (I didn't get stuck on anything for too long, which made things feel smooth). What has been real special though is that I have been posting this blog of it and actually getting responses! Especially from Yunah herself. If you have a lot of friends who draw and you can't, it's very easy to kind of feel left out and like, it's been kind of amazing to have my art be recognized, because a lot of things I consider to be my skills aren't ones people normally look to as art, or are ones I don't do frequently enough to be able to build those connections. ALSO HAVING AN ARTIST YOU LOVE TELL YOU THEY THINK WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS COOL IS LIKE CRACK COCAINE. Cosplay on official designs is far more common, and Hoyoverse isn't going to come tell you how cool it is that you loved their designs enough to spend 6 months making it in real life. Art is a collective process, try to build yourself into it, no matter what you consider your skills to be, and you will find joy in it. But for you, for you it's video time. I tried to capture the energy of the final battle with Grima, beginning with an attempted possession and ending with Robin telling Chrom she loves him and leaving the Shepherds behind to end Grima herself.

No I don't have a next cosplay picked out. Yes I have already been asked this. Now is the time for me to juggle ideas for the next 2-3 months and not look at a sewing machine for at least a month, not have another project.

Hello, everyone! Welcome to my blog!

As outlined here, my New Year’s Resolution for 2024 was to do something for my art every day. Whether writing, drawing, watching/studying, exploring or reading—I’d do something to sharpen my artistic focus daily.

As the year has gone by, I’ve documented some of the process on Tumblr. The tag “#Fiona’s Art Journal” has both reflections and artistic works, and “#Poetry” has an index of poems. This post is an index, and I’ll update it with hyperlinks to journals, art posts, and other favs.

NB: Aside from theatre and art posts, much of this blog is fandom posting about whatever (usually queer) media has most recently captured my interest. You can track various Strange New Worlds, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Supergirl and House of the Dragon rotations (to name a few), along with other shows/movies on my list. I will probably spend the rest of 2024 crying about Agatha All Along (as WandaVision is an all-time favorite media & I’ve waited 2 years, since the night before I graduated undergrad, for Jac Schaeffer to fix this mess). whumpuary rules & guidelines 2023

Hello and welcome to Whumpuary! This is a whump-themed creation event taking place in January.

Any creator can participate, you can do gifs, videos, drawing, painting, writing, fic recs, fiber arts, cosplay, clay figurines, feature length films, whatever your heart desires. I only ask that it has somewhat to do with whump - it is a whump event after all (but even there I can't tell you what your definition of whump is, so it's really pretty free).

(Considering it's the start of a new year in many places, I want to encourage everyone to consider trying out something new in this event if you want! Experiment with different media, create a new OC, create for a new fandom, try out something you've never done before. But of course you can also stick to what you know :))

You can interpret the prompts freely and use them however you want and create/post as often as you want. You can use one or three prompts per number and create/post every three days, you can post 10 consecutive things in mid January, you can combine prompts of the same or different numbers, you can use each prompt separately and create for 30 days, you can use the numbers out of order, whatever you want. However, if you want to be on the completionist list, there are some guidelines (more on that later in the post).

Posted creations will be reblogged to this blog (though I can't guarantee getting every single post - it depends on the number of participants and correctly tagged posts).

Be sure to tag your Whumpuary posts with:

#whumpuary / #whumpuary2023 #whumpuaryno1, #whumpuaryno2 etc. (the number of the prompt(s) you're using) #nsfwhump or #nsfw if relevant as well as any potential triggers (if you're not sure, then just tag it) you can also tag this blog @whumpuary

There are a few things I'm personally not comfortable with and will not reblog to this blog, but you're still allowed to create anything you want.

There will be a Completionist list at the end of the month. To be counted as a completionist you need to create for at least one prompt from each number by the end of the month, so 10 separate creations/sections/chapters (you can also replace main prompts with alt prompts). For this category, using two prompts from the same number won't count as two creations. There will be a form for that (You won't have to prove your completionist status, I'll take your word for it).

You can use these prompts after the event ends and you can also post on any platform (or not post at all), but I will only reblog creations posted on tumblr.

There will also be an AO3 collection to post your works on.

How to enter? Eeeasy, just make some fan content and tag me in it!

Examples include but are not limited to: fanart, edits, pinterest or moodboards, cosplay, headcanon videos or textposts, fanfictions, skits, incorrect quotes or any other fan content you can think of for assassin x demon king and its characters!

There's just a few rules: you gotta tag me in it, you cannot steal others' work, you cannot behave hatefully in any ADK spaces, and crossposting to multiple platforms is highly encouraged!

Deadline for entry is the end of 2023, and winners will be announced on the first day of 2024.

There will be 10 winners, but if there’s enough participation i may invest in some merch for runner-ups!
