Amanda Leve vs Gabi Garcia - 2021 FloGrappling WNO Championship

Amanda Leve (1-0) is a respected nogi jiu-jitsu competitor. She won 1st place in the colored belt divisions at Worlds (blue, purple, and brown). And, as you can see above, she’s got some real noticeable wins.

So unsurprisingly I’m real interested in how she does with her transition to MMA. Competing in the PFL Featherweight challenger series, Leve is set to face off against Naranjargal Tsendayush (2-0), an Olympic judoka. The two will face off  in the main event of PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 this Friday (Feb. 3).

The final show of the Professional Fighters League Challenger Series will feature eight fighters in the heavyweight division.

Unsurprisingly, no fighters lost any weight, as all eight went under the 265-pound limit. The main event will see two veteran heavyweights as Danilo Marques takes on Ras Hylton.

Marques (12-4) will be the lightest man at 247 pounds, while "The Jamaican Shamrock" weighed in at 255.2 pounds. Hylton (9-6) is riding a three-game winning streak that came by knockout. Meanwhile, the Brazilian rejected by the UFC recently rebounded from a two-fight lurch with a submission in the Gladiator Challenge promotion. PFL Challenger Series Week 3: Heavyweights will air live on FuboTV on Friday at 9pm. ET/6 p. M.pt.

Michelle Montague vs Olivia Parker - 2022 PFL Challenger Series - Week 3

No idea why Michelle Montague (2-0) didn’t get picked from the Challenger Series last year - inexperience probably - but happy to see she’s getting another crack. Montague is from Australia and was an IMMAF champion as an amateur which is always cool.

Montague returns for PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 this Friday (Feb. 3) as she faces off with Shaquita Amador Woods (0-0).

Naranjargal Tsend-Ayush (MGL) vs Ye-Sul Hwang (KOR) - Judo 2014 Grand Prix Ulaanbaatar, -70kg final

Naranjargal Tsend-Ayush is a Mongolian judoka that competed at the intentional level for a decade. Her resume includes winning 3 bronze medals at the Asian games, 5 IJF Grand Prix medals (1 gold, 3 silver), 6 Mongolian national titles, and a silver medal as a member of the women’s Mongolian team at the IJF world championships. She is now all in on her MMA career.

Tsend-Ayush (2-0) will be headlining PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2  when she takes on BJJ specialist Amanda Leve (1-0) in the main event.

Karolina Sobek vs Martina Jindrova - IAF 3

Of all the women competing on the PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 card this Friday (Feb. 3), I think Poland’s Karolina Sobek (4-0) might have the most impressive win here in terms of name value.  I could not find much on Sobek’s martial arts background, but the 23 year old has like 3 scarf hold submissions so I’m guessing judo. Which is really interesting as her next opponent is an experienced competitor in judo.

Karolina Sobek’s opponent this Friday will be Dutch judoka Senna van der Veerdonk (3-1).

Senna van der Veerdonk vs Awa Sow - Soko FC 2

22 year old Senna van der Veerdonk (3-1) is a former judoka that competed for the Netherlands. She won a bronze medal at the cadet level back in 2017. But, inspired by the success of Kayla Harrison, she has made the transition to MMA. She’s hoping to earn a spot in the upcoming PFL Featherweight season by impressing at PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 this Friday (Feb. 3).

Evelyn Martins vs Melissa Croden - Titan FC 67

Evelyn Martins (2-0) is one to watch as a prospect. She’s only 20 years old, training out of American Top Team down in Florida and only has two wins but both have aged wonderfully as Melissa Croden and Serena DeJesus have turned into good regional fighters at the minimum. Give her some time and she could be a force at 135lbs+.

But Martins will be part of PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 this Friday (Feb. 3), hoping to earn a shot in the upcoming PFL featherweight season in hopes of winning $1 million. She’s first got to look impressive against returning challenger series contestant Jeslen Mishelle (2-0).
