Melissa Croden vs Katharina Lehner - LFA 169
I feel like Canadian bantamweight Melissa Croden (5-2) should probably be in the UFC already. Her only losses are to a talented 145er in Evelyn Martins and current UFC up and comer Jacky Calvalcanti. But also, she's a finisher. All 5 of her wins have come by way of finish. And women's 135lbs needs every semi-promising prospect it can get.
Perhaps a win at LFA 195 this Friday (Oct. 25) will be enough to get her signed. Croden will face off with Ashley Deen (8-6).

Have Cheetah,Will View #333 – “Chokehold” (2019)
Its 11:28 am sunny
Yesterday I took advantage of the overcast and drizzling rain to make a run to the video store. The local Family Videos were having two different sales at the same time,a Memorial Day Sale and a Box Sale. This was the first sale of the year and so there I was.. The store I went to was pretty busy and I mean like old school Blockbuster busy. It was pretty cool to see a video…

Evelyn Martins vs Melissa Croden
I said it at the start of the season and I'll say it now - the one to watch in the PFL wmen's featherweight division is 20 year old Evelyn Martins (5-0). She's a really well put together fighter out of ATT. Good size (5'8) and a solid resume for someone who is only 5 fights in her pro career.
She will face off with sport sambo champion Marina Mokhnatkina (9-3) at PFL 2023 #5 this Friday (June 16).

Evelyn Martins vs Melissa Croden - Titan FC 67
Evelyn Martins (2-0) is one to watch as a prospect. She’s only 20 years old, training out of American Top Team down in Florida and only has two wins but both have aged wonderfully as Melissa Croden and Serena DeJesus have turned into good regional fighters at the minimum. Give her some time and she could be a force at 135lbs+.
But Martins will be part of PFL Challenger Series 2023: Week 2 this Friday (Feb. 3), hoping to earn a shot in the upcoming PFL featherweight season in hopes of winning $1 million. She’s first got to look impressive against returning challenger series contestant Jeslen Mishelle (2-0).

Busy day for combat sports

We got LFA, ONE Championship, and Bellator 294 all on the docket tonight.
LFA 157 features a women’s bantamweight title fight in the main event between PFL vet Jacqueline Cavalcanti and Melissa Croden, with the winner probably being on the shortlist for a call to the UFC. I think both would make solid editions at the bottom of the division but we’ll see how this plays out.
Over in ONE Championship, we got one of the best fights of the weekend - Nong-O vs Jonathan Haggerty. Two of the most exciting guys in ONE’s Muay Thai divisions. Plus a bunch of really interesting MMA prospects on the undercard.
And then we have Bellator 294 which is headlined by Flyweight Champion Liz Carmouche and DeAnna Bennett. The undercard is lacking hard but will feature the Bellator debut of former UFC contender and Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.

Looking over the rankings, I don’t think the immediate future of women’s 135 is as dire as people think it is.
As the next series of potential challengers for Nunes, you have Irene Aldana, Ketlen Vieira, and Raquel Pennington. I have no clue how you decide a challenger amongst the three. Rocky is probably not getting a rematch (despite how incredibly stacked against her their first fight was). But Vieira and Aldana would be fresh match ups for Nunes.
Then you have women like Pannie Kianzad, Karol Rosa, and Marya Bueno Silva who have consecutive wins. You got women like Chelsea Chandler (possibly 145), Josiane Nunes (possibly 145), and Tamires Vidal who look at minimum to be fun action fighters who can put other fighters away. Julia Avila and Lina Lansberg will hopefully be back soon from injury and childbirth to fill out the middle of the division too. It’s not the most promising future but there are fun fights to make here.
All that said, yeah the UFC should sign Tanisha Tennant, Melissa Dixon, Darius Zheleznyakova, Lucia Szaboza, and Melissa Croden (and Evelyn Martins after another win or two).
