Hyundai Palisade: Cost, Facts, and Figures | HotCars
New Post has been published on https://coolcarsnews.com/hyundai-palisade-cost-facts-and-figures-hotcars/
Hyundai Palisade: Cost, Facts, and Figures | HotCars
Prior to the 2020 Palisade, Hyundaiâs entry into the 3-row VEHICLE market was to simply the lengthen a Santa Fe , integrate a rudimentary third line, and call it a day. This worked for buyers which werenât planning on using the 3rd row much, and definitely not for adults. But it didnât match well against dedicated 3-row vehicles like the Honda Initial, Ford Explorer, and others.
So , when Hyundai debuted the Palisade, these people showed all the signs of creating for lost time. It had been plenty big, well-featured, plus was clearly not type of any existing Hyundai model, though Kia Telluride was openly a sibling from another mother. Yet what surprised many in the model's debut was the style, which seemed to step previous its mass market competitors, and anything Hyundai formerly offered to seriously tread upon luxury territory. Indeed, the particular dashâs horizontal theme, hectic but well laid out middle console, and center screen as extension of the measure cluster all looked like they may be right at home under several lofty European brand.
That said, the automobile is intended to take market share through mainstream brands, so its not all Palisade could be heavily packed in luxury features. The particular entry level SE model does not have expected luxury features just like a hands free lift-gate, heated controls, LED Lighting and even several expected driver assist functions. Of course , all those things and much more become available as you climb the particular model hierarchy which includes the particular SEL, Limited, and for people who find those trim brands too pedestrian - the very best model is called Calligraphy.
In an industry exactly where smaller displacement and turbos are becoming the norm, Hyundai power all Palisade models the fashion way with a large normally-aspirated V6. The a few. 8-liter V6 generates the no-fuss 291 hp @ 6000 with a peak associated with 262 lb-ft @ 5200, which is run through an 8-speed automatic transmission with exercise shifters. All models arrive standard with FWD and also have a City/Hwy/Combined MPG associated with 19 / 26 and 22. While better than the particular Chevrolet Traverse; as a whole, it really is only about 1-2 mpg, lower than most of its competitors, which includes those with turbo-4 engines like the Subaru Ascent, VW Atlas, and Mazda CX-9.
Hyundaiâs HTRAC Awd is a $1700 upgrade upon all trim levels. HTRAC AWD defaults to a 70/30 f/r power distribution, yet up to 50% of strength can be sent to the rear tires when needed.
There is certainly only so much you can do using the two-box shape of a 3-row crossover, but Hyundai really does add some interesting details. Front side is dominated by a huge version of the brand's 6-sided grille, only here this looks as stretched as it looks squashed upon the Sonata . Notable is the way the bright rim of the billet grille is thin at the top yet gets progressively thicker the particular further down you go. Because Hyundai has done lately using its crossovers, what look like razor blade thin headlights high up upon either side are actually switching lights, while what appear to be over complex fog lamps are actually the headlights. Within the Palisade, they are tied collectively by a vertical LED DRL band. A similar band shows up on the inner border from the tail lights which carry on down to border red mirrors and then turns to become a cheaper side trim that is adopted through between the fenders.
Another Hyundai styling trope is the experimenting with chrome window cut and the Palisade continues the particular tradition with upper brilliant trim rises from the bottom of the A-pillar and then falls down after the wide C-pillar as if to frame the sedan shape. Lower shiny window trim stops in short supply of the C-pillar. It is a little bit odd if you pay attention to this but isnât ugly. Fascinating detail decisions aside, general, the exterior is a sophisticated style with plenty of flow plus follow-through.
It is the interior that really matters on a vehicle like this plus itâs here the Palisade shines the most. The splash itself is very clean and easy with horizontal vents linked at the bottom by pewter-finish cut that thickens in the middle to house audio and middle display controls in the exact same finish. All other hard regulates are on the wide angled-up center console. This includes the three-button transmission control having an adjacent Park button. Top of the display is housed within an extension of the gauge bunch housing which looks a little big for the 8â screen on the SE and SEL. The 10. 25â screen in the same housing matches better. In front of the driver is really a handsome three-spoke steering wheel with all the usual array of controls. SONY ERICSSON and SEL models possess analog gauges with plus LED driver info display. Limited and Calligraphy versions get a configurable digital measure arrangement.

2nd row captainâs chairs from the SEL level. The 3rd row is acceptable designed for adult use at least just for cross-town. Access to the third line is simplified by a launch for a spring-loaded mechanism that will both tilts the seat-back forward and slides the whole seat forward as well within about a secondâs time. The particular seats can be moved with a button on top of the seat back again for adults or at the bottom from the seat-back side within reach of children.
SE FWD - $32, 675, AWD +$1, 700
Starting prices for the Palisadeâs competitive set range begins as low as $29, 800 for that Chevrolet Traverse and as higher as $34, 910 for your Toyota Highlander. The Palisadeâs starting MSRP falls in just a grand up or straight down of the Telluride, Honda Initial, VW Atlas, Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango, and Subaru Ascent. The last is 4WD while the rest start as front or rear-wheel drive.
With either driveline, the entry-level Palisade will get you the luxury-appearing exterior plus dash design, but not numerous items one would expect with an actual luxury model. The particular driverâs seat adjustments are usually manual, and there is no double zone climate control or even push button start. The particular seats are not leather naturally , but kudos to Hyundai for providing cloth rather, which is more comfortable than the glorified vinyl found in entry-level high-class models. The cloth chairs also feature the same diamond-quilted pattern as the leather chairs, and you can have them in light gray as well as black.
Frills are not completely lacking. Paddle shifters are standard , that are always welcome in hilly terrain. There is Bluetooth connection that includes Wireless Android Auto⢠& Apple CarPlayŽ, the particular rearview monitor includes car parking guidance, and the steering wheel consists of both tilt and telescopic adjustability.
SEL FWD â $35, 325, AWD +$1, 700
The SEL looks to become where Hyundai expects the majority of Palisade shoppers to property. There is still no buckskin for your backside but the driverâs seat has 8-way energy adjustability, both front chairs are heated and the second-row seats are captainâs seats, though retaining the counter for 8-passenger seating is definitely an option.
The particular driver-assist features are still slender, but you do get both sightless spot and rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance systems. Those exact same sensors give you Safe Depart Assist, which keeps you through opening the door in front of a good approaching vehicle. You can start the vehicle with a button now plus there is dual zone environment control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLinkŽ just in front of the conventional sun-roof. Not much changes on the exterior aside from roof rails, turning gentle LED repeaters in the part mirrors, and bright complete door handles with allowed lights.
Because proof that Hyundai numbers this to be the volume design, it is the only one with option deals. The $2, 400 Comfort Package immediately steps up the luxurious vibe with 20â tires along with LED taillights along with a hands-free lift-gate. Inside, the driving force now looks through the controls at an LCD display, front travellers get wireless smartphone getting, second row passengers obtain shades for the door home windows, 3 rd row passengers obtain USB charge ports, and additional back in the cargo area is really a 115-volt power outlet. The vehicle also gets a self-leveling suspension and front car parking sensors.
The $3, 100 High quality Package requires the Comfort Package as well. So , when there is just one gotta-have-it item in this particular package, it will cost you $5, 500 to get it. The majority of prominent is Nappa natural leather seating, a 10. 25â middle display screen and navigation system. The particular shotgun seat now provides 8- way power flexibility, and there is integrated memory space for the driver seat placement and other functions. The 2 nd line seats are heated, 3 or more rd row seatbacks now switch on and down, and the car owner can easily talk to anyone back again there with the Driver-Talk intercom. This is also where you obtain Highway Generate Assist , which includes adaptive cruise control and street keeping ability.
Limited FWD â $45, 275, AWD +$1, 700
The Limited design is $4, 400 more than an SEL with both deals, both of which come regular. The biggest addition is the 12-speaker 630-watt Harman KardonÂŽ high quality audio with QuantumLogicÂŽ Encompass with Clari-Fi ⢠Music Recovery Technology that restores compacted audio sources. Also huge is the dual panel sun-roof, and the larger 12. 3â digital cluster. The driverâs seat also gets 4-way lumbar power adjust plus adjustable leg extension. With regard to reference, the Limited will be $775 under the starting cost for an Acura MDX.
Calligraphy FWD - $46, 200, 4WD +1, seven hundred
The range-topping Calligraphy is a relatively little step over the Limited, and many of its added features are usually of the gilding-the-lily variety. Contributing to the Limited are unique 20â wheels, fancier billet grille treatment, puddle lamps as well as other minor exterior enhancements. The inside includes quilted leather doors, a microfiber suede-like headliner, perforated leather steering wheel edge and a nicer cargo defense plate in the back. Nothing of these are substantial, but the low-price step does make simply getting the top model a simple decision.
At the top of its range, the particular Palisade competes well towards premium competitors from Acura Buick and Infiniti or even others that are less outfitted and arguably donât coddle their occupants any better in terms of comfort or even aesthetics. In fact , its worth proposition is best challenged with the mechanically identical, different showing up but just as upscale bumping Of Telluride.

2021 Volkswagen Tiguan to obtain a fresh face, better technology
The revitalized 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan small crossover will certainly get a sportier layout when it debuts this summer, the car manufacturer verified Thursday[honda odyssey aftermarket parts].
The German brand's bestselling lorry will obtain a facelift with a brand-new hood as well as a wider, wider front as well as back bumper to look sportier and "more manly in stance," Hendrik Muth, head of advertising for VW, said. LED headlights will certainly be conventional equipment on the 2021 Tiguan, however the matrix illumination systems used in Europe will certainly not be on Tiguan crossovers offered in The United States and Canada. Aside from technology upgrades, not much changes inside one of the few portable crossovers with an offered third row in the UNITED STATE. The variation sold in the U.S. is larger than many other small crossovers on sale. The cramped third row is remaining, despite the presence in the display room of the bigger three-row Volkswagen Atlas.
" We have an advantage in the room that lets us offer the third row," claimed Hein Schafer, elderly vice head of state of item advertising and marketing and method.
The 2021 Tiguan will certainly include Volkswagen's newest infotainment system, referred to as MIB 3, with faster cpus, far better graphics, and over-the-air updates.
The powertrain from the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan carries over with a 184-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-4 with an 8-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, as well as four-wheel drive is optional.
The Tiguan plug-in crossbreed and Tiguan R efficiency designs slated for Europe are not likely to cross the Atlantic.
" We're always aiming to find more fuel-efficient engines ... and also extra effective," Schafer claimed. "At this phase it is very hard to verify if and when that will certainly take place."
Shafer added that a plug-in powertrain for the Tiguan isn't most likely to show up in the U.S. soon due to higher prices, among other factors.
" This is a really price-sensitive market," he said.[this website]
Mark Gillies, a spokesman for VW, included that an efficiency variation of the compact crossover would "enhance the Tiguan's schedule," but added that the company would certainly talk about that variation "at a later factor."
The ID.4 electrical crossover will certainly debut this year, and also a crossover smaller sized than the Tiguan will certainly be announced this year also.

Europe and the U.S. Share a Lot, Except When It Comes to Cars
The 2020 Geneva International Motor Show is over before it began. A victim of Covid-19, manufacturers have retooled to unveil new releases âdigitally.â We Americans may shrug our shoulders because unlike viruses, many European cars and brands canât cross continents.Sure, the new Kia Sorento, Volkswagen Golf GTI and Mercedes E-Class that were scheduled to debut on the Geneva show floor will be coming to America, as will the BMW i4 electric sedan that was to be shown as a concept. But the new Seat Leon hatchback and Renault Captur Hybrid will be no-shows here in the United States. There are many reasons there will be no Dacia Dusters in Delaware driveways.First off, Americans are not starved for choices. As the second-largest automotive market in the world after China, the United States has dozens of brands to browse.âAs attractive as the U.S. market is, itâs saturated,â said Stephanie Brinley, principal analyst for IHS Markit. âIn the States, consumers are confused with all of the choices; it can be overwhelming.âTrue enough. In the past 25 years or so, Suzuki, Daewoo and Daihatsu have left our shores. Scion, Geo, Saab, Eagle, Plymouth, Mercury, Saturn, Pontiac and Oldsmobile have joined Studebaker on that great off ramp. For some European brands, coming to the United States means new dealerships and parts distribution. Thatâs expensive. Vehicles must pass our government emissions, safety and lighting requirements. Thatâs very expensive. And how does a company market an expensive product to consumers who are loyal to existing brands? Thatâs bottomless-money-pit expensive.Even with Fiat Chrysler Automobilesâ existing network of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep franchisees, it has struggled to get Americans to fully embrace the Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands. A newcomer to the U.S. market would need a Caddy full of euros to introduce a brand. And by Caddy, I mean the Volkswagen Caddy, which is a small van used for deliveries and family hauling. And no, we donât get it either.People of each continent use their vehicles differently. âAmericans like large vehicles and S.U.V.s that do 100 percent of everything,â Ms. Brinley of IHS said. âWe plan for the most extreme-use case, while Europeans are more comfortable squeezing things into a small space.âWhile traveling in Slovenia recently, I met the musician and Wudisban Records executive Marko Kocjan, known as Emkej, who drives a Skoda Octavia wagon, a VW product the size of the Golf SportWagen (that just left our market because of sluggish sales). In Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Octavia is a popular, though larger, choice.âMe and my fiancĂŠe, Ajda Perme, came to the conclusion we needed a safer car and wanted extra room in the back for snowboarding and transporting music equipment to concerts. I love its space.âAmerican musicians would probably find the Octavia wagon far too small to haul keyboards, guitars, drums and amps. But like many European buyers, Mr. Kocjan makes the Skoda work.âIt is a car we can afford, plus the tax rate and fuel costs are in our range,â he said. Many European countries tax vehicles on size, weight, engine size and fuel consumption at a far higher rate than our states. So while thereâs a more powerful 2-liter engine, Mr. Kocjanâs Octavia is driven by the smaller, more efficient 1.6-liter diesel with a five-speed manual transmission (rowing your own gears is much more popular in Europe).Americans would find that powertrain pokey and inconvenient. It might be more appealing to Missourians â who pay around $2 per gallon, according to AAA â if they had to pay triple the price. Thatâs what Italians pay when filling up. Youâre more likely to see Bigfoot sipping espresso there than a thirsty Chevrolet Tahoe. And size matters to both continents, just not in the same way. No one needs to point out that America likes its trucks. Fordâs F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle (not just pickup truck) in America for over 30 years, but it is not officially sold in Europe. With low fuel prices, weâre more likely to pick something larger and more comfortable to cover that ground. âWe have a lot more room to spread out,â said Ray Telang, U.S. automotive leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers. âThe U.S. market is filled with buyers who value size, they want S.U.V.s. The footprint of the U.S. has more rural areas. We are not as constrained by space.âThe European buyer drives narrower roads, pays a lot more for fuel and has to find a place to store the car in more crowded cities. Smaller works better there.âBut Mr. Telang also said the tastes were merging a bit. âAs crossovers become more fuel efficient, the demand is accelerating in Western Europe, just not to the same level as in the U.S.âHatchbacks and wagons have always been popular choices overseas, and it can be argued those are close cousins to crossovers when it comes to usability and practicality.Generally, European S.U.V.s are smaller than three-row models such as the Chevy Traverse, Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander that we buy in droves. Ford is a popular brand in Europe, but there are few Explorers there. And you will see far more Jeep Renegades overseas than Wranglers. The huge VW Atlas thatâs built in Chattanooga, Tenn., has been rebadged the Teramont in many foreign markets. And even though VW makes the midsize pickup Amarok, itâs not sold in our truck-loving country. And then thereâs design. In the home of the brave, weâre timid when it comes to styling. Our roads are crammed with Honda Accords, Toyota Camrys and Nissan Rogues that roll with safe designs. We would rather be seen in a Pontiac Aztek than the Fiat Multipla, which is best described as the only transportation device with a muffin top. A CitroĂŤn Berlingo would be roomy enough for our market, but the sheet metal would probably be ostracized.Europeans are often willing to try different things, like the old three-wheeled BMW Isetta and Reliant Robin. The elfin Smart car made a noble stab at our market, but is leaving it while remaining in Europe. The oddly cladded flanks of Citroenâs C4 Cactus crossover would probably not generate much U.S. interest. We donât see Vauxhall or Opel cars circling cul-de-sacs, but the best of Europeâs automotive industries have influenced our cars in many ways. Volvo and Saab pioneered many safety technologies we now take for granted. BMW fundamentally changed the way cars performed with firm but comfortable suspensions. It forced Cadillac (which has a minor presence overseas) to abandon its soft floaty ride for a much crisper dynamic. Americans wouldnât rule out Peugeots or Skodas because of the way they drive. On my last visit to Europe, I enjoyed the dynamics of a rental Renault Clio. The small four-door hatchback was comfortable on the highway and attacked curves with spunk. The small engine did not pack much punch, but I appreciated its efficiency after pulling into gas stations with fuel prices at $1.45 a liter. Yeah, remember, there are nearly four of those in a gallon.Itâs human nature to desire forbidden fruit, but maybe itâs best we stick to what we have. Automakers know their markets very well.Mr. Kocjan of Slovenia said: âI wanted a Cadillac Escalade when I was a kid, but now I see how big they are and I donât know. I would love to have a Mustang ⌠for a few days.âYears ago, an Opel Insignia wagon cruising through Rome caught my wifeâs eye. She was tempted to buy when the stylish machine ended up stateside rebadged as the Buick Regal TourX, but she did not pull the trigger. Thatâs what counts. After just a few years itâs been discontinued, partly because of, you guessed it, lack of sales. Read the full article

The U.S.-Market Volkswagen Passat Sedan Is Being Killed in 2023
Itâs a nerve-wracking time to be a sedan in the U.S. right now. The market is shifting away from four-door family cars toward SUVs and crossovers. The latest casualty in this move is the Volkswagen Passat, which will be discontinued in the U.S. by 2023, according to a report from Wards Auto.
âWeâve made a decision to cancel the Passat for the U.S. The sales trend is very firmly in favor of SUV models, as indicated by the success of the [Chattanooga-built] Atlas,â Volkswagen brand chief Ralf Brandstätter told Wards.
Production of the U.S.-market Passat will end at Volkswagenâs U.S. plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 2023, coinciding with the all-electric Volkswagen ID4 SUVâs ramp-up to full capacity. (Keep in mind the American Passat is unique from the Euro-market example, which is a more premium product and closer to the luxurious Arteon VW sells here.) The ID4 is set to launch in 2021 with a starting price of $39,995 before applicable tax credits. Production of the global Passat sedan will continue in Germany and China for the European and Chinese markets.
In a class with solid competitors like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, the Passat was never a hot seller. Volkswagen sold just 14,123 Passats in all of 2019âless than the number of Camrys Toyota sells in a month. That dismal performance is likely due in part to production of the last-gen Passat winding down to make way for the new 2020 Volkswagen Passat, which is a restyled version of the same old model, using the same platform.
The midsize sedan segment will continue to be a vital one in the U.S. for the foreseeable future, but the loss of another one of its members doesnât help the case for cars in general.

VW will have a pickup strategy, and it may be to go where others aren't
NEW YORK â In what is sure to be music to the ears of his U.S. dealers, Volkswagen Group of America CEO Scott Keogh says the brand will have a pickup strategy. He's just not yet sure what it will be.
Keogh, 50, who assumed the top job at Volkswagen Group of America six months ago after leading Audi, says he believes there is space for VW in the crowded and highly competitive U.S. pickup market. For the second consecutive year, Volkswagen showed a concept pickup at the New York auto show.
The Tarok was developed by VW in South America and is built on the automaker's MQB platform. It has two full rows of seating and a small, squarish bed with an innovative drop wall and folding seats that make for a bed length of more than 8 feet with the tailgate down.
Keogh says the brand has three options with a pickup:
1. Homologate a Ranger-derived, body- on-frame midsize pickup from Ford Motor Co. that will be sold as a replacement for the Amarok across the rest of the world.
2. Develop a unibody midsize lifestyle pickup based on the Atlas crossover, similar to the Tanoak concept VW showed at the 2018 New York auto show
3. Build a car-based, A-segment unibody pickup like the Tarok using the MQB platform in Mexico to keep costs down and import it to the U.S., where it might appeal to consumers who don't want to spend more than $30,000 for a body-on-frame midsize pickup.
The Tarok, Keogh says, "will be made for the South American market [in 2020]. The question we have is, could something like this make sense, with modifications, in the U.S. market?"
VW's history in the U.S. with small, unibody pickups may provide an answer. Forty years ago, the brand used its then-popular Rabbit as the basis for a small, bedded vehicle it simply called the Pickup.
The utilitarian, front-wheel-drive Pickup sported a single row of seating ahead of a 6-foot bed and was identical to a Rabbit from the doors forward.
Sales from its 1979 debut to 1984, after the end of U.S. production in 1983, were 77,512 vehicles, all produced at Volkswagen's former plant in Westmoreland, Pa. Notably, the design lived on in Europe into the 1990s and in South Africa into the mid-2000s.
While the Tarok concept of today and the Pickup of old have little in common, VW's bosses may find the trucks fill similar needs. For the Tarok, Keogh says, "the theory is quite straightforward: It's an A-segment sized vehicle. There's no pickup truck in the U.S. market that is quite that size at all."
While that means there's nothing similar that lets the company gauge potential sales, "there could be a space here," he said. "This is what life's all about."
If Keogh approves a pickup for the U.S. â Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess told Automotive News in October that the decision is Keogh's to make â entering a segment abandoned by the Detroit 3 may have an appeal.
"The positioning could be, when you extend the bed, in terms of what you can do with the second row, plus what you can do with the tailgate itself, you basically get the length of a B-segment pickup," Keogh said.
"So we kind of like this application where you have the everyday size of an A-segment in terms of parking and driveability and fuel economy â all those types of things â and for the 4 or 5 percent of the time that you engage it in a lifestyle, smart packaging to bring to the vehicle," he said.
Because the Tarok is based on the MQB platform, Keogh said, VW has "a whole host of engines that we could put in there" â up to 300-hp V-6s â so, "I don't think drivetrain is an issue."
If a pickup like the Tarok gets the green light, it would be built in Puebla, Mexico, where Volkswagen builds MQB-platform vehicles and could ship it to North and South America. With Golf production shifting from Puebla back to Germany, Keogh said "there's room" to build it.
Would a Tarok-like pickup be a gamble? Certainly, Keogh said, but that's fine.
"At the end of the day, there is no 100 percent decision in the world," he said. "That's the market receptiveness side of the equation. The other side is, of course, the business model. What does it take to produce it? What's the price point we can hit? What's the capacity? What's the utilization? What's the investment? How do we depreciate the investment?
"We think we can make that work, from our initial study. Now we've got to see what the market says."

2021 Volkswagen ID 4 Electric SUV Is the First U.S.-Bound ID Model
Volkswagen makes do on its promise to upgrade American consumers from its ID 3 compact electric car to the larger electric ID 4 compact crossover SUV, thus ensuring the first of its first ID-branded EVs for the U.S. market is more appealing. Originally planned as part of the since-canceled 2020 Geneva motor showâs round of debuts, the ID 4 has been unveiled digitally in prototype form.
As expected, it appears to be a production-ready version of the ID Crozz concept, and carries over many of its inspirational forebearâs styling details, including its swooping shoulder line, militant mug, and wide rear haunches. Noticeably missing, however, is the Crozzâs coupe-like roofline. Instead, the ID 4 embraces a more traditional (and surely more practical) wagon shape that ought to improve the crossoverâs overall cargo room. Given Volkswagenâs recent addition of the Atlas Cross Sport, a lower-slung version of the mainstream Atlas crossover, the brand may introduce a more coupe-like ID 4 variant in the future.
Whereas Volkswagen wonât be shipping the ID 3 to the United States, the company actually built the ID 4 with America in mind (not to mention Europe and China, as well). As such, the battery-electric Crossover marks the first vehicle built on the modular MEB platform that Volkswagen will offer in the U.S. Designed specifically to underpin Volkswagenâs electric vehicles, MEB includes a dedicated space for the battery directly below the passenger compartment. Due to this, the ID 4 benefits from a low center of gravity and relatively balanced weight distribution, and therefore shouldnât be horrible to drive.
While Volkswagen isnât talking detailed specifications for the ID 4 yet, the brand states that it expects certain ID 4 models to clear 310 miles of range on the notoriously optimistic Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure. Expect that figure to fall to fewer than 300 miles when the EPA tests the ID 4.
When it arrives in Europe later this year, the ID 4 will at first feature just one drive motor at its rear axle. Nevertheless, a more powerful all-wheel-drive variant will join the ID 4 line not long after and is surely destined for the U.S. market. VW, of course, didnât share whether North American ID 4s will see a similar rear-drive, then all-wheel-drive roll-out, nor did it even mention a specific on-sale date for U.S.-bound models. That said, we expect the EV crossover to reach our shores by the end of the year.
Although Volkswagen eventually plans to build the ID 4 at its Chattanooga, Tennessee plant, the brand will initially import the model to the U.S. from Europe.

5 Things to Know About the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas
Volkswagen has done it again. Theyâve created their own unique car while catering to the masses.
The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas comes with features and varients that give it the Volkswagen charm but compete with standard automobiles on the market.Â
Keep reading to learn five features you should know about the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas.
1. Different Models
The Atlas has been a three-row, family-friendly crossover vehicle, competing well with all of the other crossovers on the market.Â
The 2020 VW Atlas has a new variant: the Atlas Cross Sport. This vehicle comes with one less seat, a smaller package, and a smaller price tag. It has 2.8 inches less legroom, a new steering wheel, and the option of a snazzy red interior, plus redesigned VW and R logos.Â
VW designed the Cross to compete with other five-passenger SUVs like Ford Edge and Honda Passport. Â
The Atlas has five different models within it, each with their own features.Â
S Cross
The S Cross is a smaller vehicle with a smaller price. The two-row cross starts at $31,560 and has a 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four cylinder engine.Â
The S Cross offers a basic package. It has cloth seats, a 6.5-inch touch screen, voice control, Bluetooth, USB port, and Wi-fi capability. It includes Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability along with an AM/FM radio.Â
It has safety features like blind-spot m monitoring and rain-sensing windshield wipers.Â
Unlike the 20-inch wheels of the more pricey Atlases, the S has your basic 18-inch wheels.Â
SE
The next step up is the SE which comes in a range from $34,965 to $38,365 depending on what features you include.
The SE bumps up the screen size with an 8-inch screen. It also adds in heated front seats and leatherette upholstery.
The SE includes proximity-key entry and power driverâs seats along with the option of a 276-hp V-6 engine.Â
The entertainment system includes an HD/satellite radio, CD player, and auxiliary audio input.Â
SEL
The SEL bumps up in price and quality, starting at $40,545.Â
With the SEL you have the choice of a four-cylinder or V-6 engine and an optional sporty package.Â
Volkswagen installed a panoramic sunroof in the SEL and LED taillights. The driverâs seat has memory settings, and the front passenger seat has an 8-way adjustable feature.Â
Drivers have the luxury of a heated steering wheel with the SEL and hands-free tailgate opening.Â
The SEL can haul trailers and whatnot as well with its included trailer hitch.Â
SEL Premium
The SEL has the highest price tag but the most swanky package as well, ranging from $47,315 to just over $50,000.Â
It includes 20-inch wheels and 4Motion all-wheel-drive along with a V-6 engine. Both the front seats and rear seats have heating options, and the front seats have an additional cooling feature. The front seats are also ventilated, and the entire cabin features leather seating.Â
The cabin lights up with soft, ambient LED lights, and the entertainment system is premium with a 12-speaker, 480-watt Fender-branded system.Â
2. Engine Choice
Volkswagen serves its customers best by giving them choices. You have the option of a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that saves you gas and gets you where you need to go or a 3.6L V6 engine with a bit more mustard.
3. Range in PriceÂ
The new Atlas with its various features has a range of prices. It ranges from $30,000 to $51,000 depending on what you want. The range in price depends on the engine and the roominess of the vehicle.Â
4. Warranty
If youâre a Volkswagen fan, you will recognize a change in warranty. The Atlas now comes with a 4 year/50,000 mile warranty. This differs from the past when they offered a 6 year/72,000 mile warranty.Â
5. Safety Features
Volkswagen made the Atlas a safe vehicle. The Atlas earned a five-star rating from The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.Â
The following features make the Atlas one of the safest crossovers on the road:Â
Automatic emergency brakingÂ
Pedestrian detection
Blind-spot monitoringÂ
Rear cross-traffic alert
Automatic high beams
Lane-keeping assist
Surround-view camera system
Parking assist system
Full-length side airbags
Stability control
Post-collision braking system

2020 Volkswagen Atlas
The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas is a three-row crossover SUV with a spacious interior and seating for adults in all three rows. Itâs not flashy, luxurious, or especially powerful, but it bests most competitors for outright interior space. Overall, we rate the 2020 VW Atlas at 5.8 out of 10. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
