All are equipped with the coil-spring rear suspension and offer the mild-hybrid eTorque system, neither of which is matched in the half-ton pickup segment.
On most models, buyers can select from a quad cab with a long bed 6 feet, 4 inches, or a crew-cab configurations that also extends a shorter bed 5 feet, 7 inches dimension wise.
Many models come common with a 3.6-liter V6 engine -305 hp, 269 lb-ft with the eTorque mechanism, and they can be optioned up to a 5.7-liter V8 395 hp, 410 lb-ft with or without eTorque system. The V8 is standard on Laramie, LongHorn, and Limited trims.
The new diesel engine -260 hp, 480 lb-ft, is also available on any model with the excellency of the HFE, which is only presented in the quad cab body style with the V6 gasoline and rear-wheel drive as a whole.
A smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission is combined with each engine entirely.
The entry-level Tradesman comes with 18-inch steel wheels and some niceties such as a 5-inch touchscreen, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and push-button start. There's also a six-speaker stereo  and trailer sway damping. Crew-cab versions have second-row in-floor storage.
With some preferred updates for the HFE trim, which is essentially an efficiency-minded Tradesman model with an appearance package and few hardware deletions.
Upgrades include; 20-inch chrome wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires, side steps, a carpeted floor a tonneau cover, and front bucket seats than a 40/20/40-split-bench.
The HFE does not include a rear stabilizer bar, an engine oil cooler, or cargo tie-down hooks. Fuel economy rises one mpg in united and highway cycles in comparison to a rear-wheel-drive Tradesman with the V6 element.
Moving forward to the Big Horn and its Lone Star segment adds up; aluminum wheels, foglights, 18-inch, and a 60/40-split rear seat system.
The real leap comes in the available choices, comprising an 8.4-inch or even 12-inch touchscreen. Both provide Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
If you are thinking off-road, move to the Rebel with its sturdy styling features. A four skid plates and electronic locking rear axle are ready to hit the desert trail at full speed with full power and performance.
Ram takes a sharp turn toward affluence with the Laramie model. Here the 8.4-inch screen is common, so are the power mirrors and 20-inch wheels and the rear windows.
The leather-trimmed front seats are ventilated, heated, and power-adjustable absolutely. Driver assistance aspects such as forward collision warning and lane-keeping assist are presented in optional packages known as safety.

Mám rád evropské pick-upy. Z těch se za posledních pár let stala do jisté míry mnohdy velmi stylová náhrada za běžná SUV. Automobilky je totiž nabízejí v mnoha speciálních verzích a jejich podvozky už s nenaloženým nákladovým prostorem neposkakují jako kozy. Vždycky se mi ale líbily ty americké full-size pick-upy, takže když přišla možnost jeden z nich otestovat, neváhal jsem ani sekundu. A jaký podle mě je RAM 1500?

Je obrovský
To, co vás zaujme jednoznačně jako první, jsou rozměry auta. Ve druhém kroku to bude s největší pravděpodobností u testované výbavy Longhorn také obrovská chromovaná maska chladiče s nápisem RAM. Je to proto, že v roce 2010 udělal koncern Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) z původních modelů Dodge Ram samostatnou značku s užitkovými modely. Kromě klasických pick-upů má RAM v nabídce i dodávky – například „přeznačkovaný“ Fiat Fiorino, Fiat Doblò, ale i Fiat Ducato. Nabízí dokonce i menší pick-up RAM 1200, což je původně Fiat Fullback.
Mimochodem maska chladiče je zajímavá ještě další věcí, kterou RAM popisuje takto: „Speciálně navržená maska usměrňuje za jízdy vzduch do motorového prostoru, a pokročilé funkce, jako závěrka masky a vzduchová přepážka se aktivují pouze při vyšších rychlostech, aby do motorového prostoru proudilo vždy optimální množství vzduchu.“

Pojďme se ale vrátit zpět k testovanému RAMu 1500. Jde již o jeho pátou generaci, která byla představena v loňském roce. A když už padla slova o jeho velikosti, tak si to pojďme upřesnit konkrétně. Auto je dlouhé 5916 mm, bez zrcátek je široké 2084 milimetrů (takže nejen do levého pruhu na opravovaných úsecích D1 se nevejdete) a vysoké je 1971 mm. Působivý je i rozvor náprav, který činí 3672 mm.
Pokud to srovnáme třeba s také poměrně velkým Volkswagenem Amarok, jeho rozměry jsou 5264 mm na délku, 1954 mm na šířku, 1834 mm na výšku a rozvor je 3097 mm. Pro srovnání je možné ještě uvést třeba rozměry BMW X7. Délka: 5151 mm, šířka: 2000 mm, výška: 1805 mm a rozvor: 3105 mm.
Čísla ale nedokáží vyjádřit to, jak auto působí naživo opravdu působí. Však se podívejte na fotku nad tímto odstavcem. Jde o jednu z uliček v pražském centru… Potěší ale to, že i s takovým autem se dá v pražském starém městě projet, ačkoliv je třeba jet opatrněji.
S parkováním už je to ale problém. Nejen, že je auto moc široké, ale také dlouhé a díky tomu se do volného parkovacího místa nemusí vejít. Pokud už bude stačit šířka, pak bude koukat zadek do silnice. Dalším faktem je to, že ani rejd není z největších. Pokud tedy často jezdíte do města, kde potřebujete parkovat, kupte si ještě jedno další, městské auto. Stejné je to ale i u obchodních center. Díky rozměrům se auto nevejde na jedno parkovací místo, dokonce mu nestačí ani dvě, zaberete totiž celkem čtyři. 
Ale nemusíte se bát, že byste si snad svoje auto (anebo nějaké cizí) odřeli. RAM 1500 totiž může být vybaven mnoha pomocníky. Jde například o 360° parkovací kameru, zobrazující auto z ptačí perspektivy. Pokud ji doplníte parkovacími senzory vpředu a vzadu (oboje se dají tlačítkem vypnout) s detekcí překážek a automatickým brzděním, nestane se nic a s autem zaparkuje i vaše žena, která je zvyklá na městské miniautíčko.
V rámci výbavy můžete mít i další asistenty, kteří pomohou při jízdě. Je tu hlídání mrtvého úhlu, ovšem nejen pro auto, ale i pro případný přívěs. Auto si totiž díky čidlům dokáže v prvních zatáčkách spočítat celkovou délku soupravy a pak vás umí upozornit například při předjíždění na to, že už se můžete bezpečně zařadit, aniž byste přívěsem předjížděné auto omezili. V Evropě může RAM 1500 táhnout maximálně 3,5tunový přívěs, ačkoliv za velkou louží je to daleko více. Pokud asistent mrtvého úhlu nechcete, ani tak nemusíte příliš smutnit, protože tu jsou opravdu velká zpětná zrcátka s asférickým sklem v rohu navíc.
V testovaném autě jsme měli ještě další jízdní asistent, kterým bylo hlídání jízdních pruhů. Systém LaneSense Warning, jak ho RAM pojmenoval: „Varuje řidiče před vybočením z jízdního pruhu a pomáhá zabránit neúmyslnému opuštění jízdního pruhu vizuální výstrahou a bezpečným vedením vozidla zpět.“ To je věc, kterou dobře známe, ale u aut „evropské velikosti“. V Praze, kde se poslední dobou zužují jízdní pruhy, protože v už tak úzkých ulicích přibývají cyklopruhy, je takový systém kontraproduktivní, protože se do nich nevejde ani evropský pick-up, natožpak ten americký.

A je také pohodlný
Pokud ale máte kde parkovat a takové drobnosti řešit nemusíte a navíc máte podobná auta rádi, měli byste se svézt. A vyberte si verzi se vzduchovým podvozkem, který mělo i naše auto. Je za příplatek necelých 70 tisíc korun, ale je to bez rozmýšlení věc, která by vám ve výbavě chybět neměla. Kromě vylepšení jízdního komfortu nabídne totiž i možnost úpravy světlé výšky – rozdíl si můžete prohlédnout v přiloženém videu níže.
I když jsme na autě měli 22″ disky (nevypadají tak velké, co?), stojí na klasickém prostorovém rámu a je to vlastně pořád užitkový vůz, dalo by se jeho chování na silnici přirovnat k těm nejlepším SUV. Sice poznáte, že jedete v pracovním autě, ale vlastně jen na velkých nerovnostech. To, jak to dokáže RAM zamaskovat, je dechberoucí. Na běžné silnici se jen tak příjemně pohupuje, ale přesto se nebojí zatáček. Je v nich až překvapivě jistý – a to i na zimních pneumatikách, které měl testovaný kus.
Vzduchový podvozek má také vlastnost Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension. Ta dokáže vyrovnat světlou výšku pokud auto naložíte. Maximální užitečné zatížení je 850 kg, což ve srovnání s některými evropskými pick-upy není mnoho, ale je to dáno omezením řidičského oprávnění skupiny B do 3,5 tuny. Objem nakládací plochy je až 1,75 m³, ten je doplněn tzv. RAM boxy, což jsou další boxy k uložení náklady v bocích korby. Jsou uzamykatelné (i s centrálním zamykáním) a vozit v nich lze například kotvicí materiál na náklad anebo nákup.
Jenže i přes přítomnost vzduchového podvozku s možností úpravy světlé výšky tohle auto není do velkého terénu. Tam ho budou limitovat jeho rozměry: rozvor, šířka, délka i převisy. Přední nájezdový úhel je podle výbavy kolem 19° a ten zadní 25°. To není mnoho, takže se RAM 1500 hodí spíše na nezpevněné cesty a podobně. Pohon všech čtyř kol je samozřejmostí, stejně jako uzávěrka zadního diferenciálu a redukční převodovka (vše se ovládá vpravo od volantu pod ovladačem automatické převodovky).
Když objem nepotřebuješ nahrazovat…
Testovaná výbava Longhorn prozrazuje srdce auta na první pohled. Na kapotě motoru totiž hrdě nese logo „1500“ a pod ním „HEMI 5.7L“. A to neznačí nic jiného, než že je pod kapotou legendární 5,7litrový vidlicový osmiválec s atmosférickým plněním. A to je opravdový americký motor, o kterém Evropská unie jistě neslyší ráda, vždyť jeho emise CO2 jsou 332 g/km. Jenže právě tenhle motor dotváří naprosto pohodovou atmosféru celého auta. Jeho zvuk, zátah a projev si vás získá. A to už při prvním nastartování.
RAM 1500 je sice vybaven systémem aktivního potlačení hluku v interiéru, ale na motor to naštěstí nefunguje absolutně. Na vše ostatní ano, protože při jízdě je v autě překvapivé ticho, které ve vyšších rychlostech jen minimálně kazí aerodynamický hluk od obrovských vnějších zpětných zrcátek.
Zvuk motoru do interiéru příliš neproniká i díky tomu, že osmistupňová automatická převodovka se ho snaží držet v co nejnižších otáčkách. Často se tak osmiválec převaluje jen těsně nad volnoběhem. On ale vůbec není problém přidat, protože točivý moment je dostatečný. Jeho maximum 556 Nm je sice k dispozici až u 3950 ot./min, ale i v těch nejnižších otáčkách je jeho přísun dostatečný. Pokud by to přeci jen nestačilo, můžete sešlápnout plynový pedál výrazněji, převodovka o několik rychlostních stupňů podřadí a ke slovu se může dostat všech 295 kW/395 koní. Ty pak auto velmi rozvášní, až vás elektronický omezovač rychlosti může na 173 km/h překvapit… Motor rozhodně nemá s 2,5tunovým pick-upem problém, dynamika je dostatečná. Nejlepší je ale projev motoru, u kterého je prakticky jedno, v jakých je otáčkách, ale prostě vždy zatáhne. A navíc to doprovodí skvělým soundtrackem, autentickým, nepřiživeným žádnými reproduktory.

A spotřeba? Pro někoho možná slabší článek, ale dá se úplně bez problémů jezdit mezi 15-18 l/100 km. Záleží na tom, kde se budete pohybovat a jakými rychlostmi budete jezdit. Pokud to bude pomalá a klidná jízda mimo město, pak se dostanete i pod 15, ve městě a na dálnici ale spotřeba poroste. Vzhledem k bezmála 100litrové palivové nádrži je ale akční rádius auta dostatečný.
Pro moderní kovboje!
RAM nabízí pro pick-up 1500 pětici výbav. Testovaná Longhorn je druhá nejvyšší, ale nese s sebou spoustu velmi speciálních prvků. Je to totiž taková speciální „kovbojská“ výbava, což lze poznat na první pohled. Už po otevření dveří vás přivítá záplava dřeva (které není dřevem, ale opravdu velmi dobře to maskuje), hnědého čalounění kůže, ale i spoustou dalších detailů. Podívejte se třeba jen na gumové koberečky, kde je například ostnatý drát. Dalším velmi zajímavým příkladem je zadní část předních sedadel s masivní kovovou přezkou. A takových věcí je tu více.
Kovbojové už nejezdí jen na koních a mají i moderní elektroniku, na což v RAMu také mysleli. V autě tak je obrovský, vertikálně orientovaný 12″ dotekový displej multimédií. Jeho grafika i světelnost je perfektní i na ostrém slunci a ovládá se přes něj drtivá většina funkcí. Není sice v Češtině, ale i méně znalý angličtinář se v něm jednoduše zorientuje. Potěší přítomnost konektorů USB a USB-C.
U spousty dnešních aut si stěžujeme na to, že mají málo odkládacích prostor. To v RAMu neplatí. Odkládacím přihrádkám dominuje obrovský prostor mezi předními sedadly, kam se vejde i několik dvoulitrových láhví s nápojem. Kromě toho jsou tu dva odkládací prostory na kelímky a další jsou zezadu, u zadních sedadel. Pokud by to přeci jen nestačilo, další dva páry jsou v předních dveřích, kde je další obrovská spousta prostoru na odložení věcí. Líbí se mi to, jak RAM vyřešil bezdrátové nabíjení mobilního telefonu. Pro ten má totiž ve středovém panelu speciální držák, do něhož telefon umístíte a on se ani nehne. Další držák, už bez bezdrátového dobíjení, je i na straně spolujezdce.
Druhý pohled: Auto ideální pro rodinu a křehké ženy
Pavel už to výše nakousl, velké pick-upy máme v redakci moc rádi. A když mi řekl, že do redakční garáže přijede RAM 1500, zavládlo u mě v první chvíli velké nadšení. Jenomže pak přišla panika ohledně toho, jak s tak velkým autem vůbec budu běžně fungovat. V rámci testu jsme celkem důkladní, zkoušíme nejen jízdu jako takovou, ale i běžný život, jako je nákup nebo prosté parkování. A právě v tomto bodě jsem čekala problémy. Ale zbytečně.
RAM je prostě kus auta a na běžných parkovacích místech s ním opravdu budete mít problém. Ale co si budeme povídat, problémy má drtivá většina dnešních SUV, není to tedy něco, co by mi výrazně vadilo. Navíc, RAM budí v ostatních řidičích respekt a z jeho rozměrů chápou, že prostě musíte parkovat stylem „na pražáka“. Ano, zaberete spoustu místa, trošku překážíte, malý rejd lehce ztíží výjezd, ale s tím vším se dá žít a hlavně si na to rychle zvyknete. Koncem testovacího týdne už mi to ani nepřišlo.
Ptáte se, proč je podle mého RAM 1500 ideální pro ženy a rodiny s dětmi? Dámy a slečny ocení fantastický rozhled z auta. Kamarádka se na chvíli posadila za volant a byla u vytržení, že konečně našla auto, u kterého vidí přes přední kapotu. Z nějakého důvodu je právě tohle pro řadu řidiček důležité. A ty rodiny? Je to snadné! Stovka větších i menších odkládacích přihrádek, parádní prostor jak na předních sedadlech, tak na těch zadních, před kterými by se s trochou snahy dalo i tančit. K tomu ta velká nákladová plocha, která pojme vše i na tu nejdelší dovolenou u moře, kam si RAMem navíc úplně v klidu a v pohodě odtáhnete i malou jachtu.
Pavel tvrdí, že nemám pravdu. Že prý budou ženy v RAMu v pohodě jen do chvíle, než se dostanou do úzkého jízdního pruhu nebo do hustého městského provozu. Čas od času si do žen, řidiček, také trochu rýpnu. Ostatně, jsou takové, které dle mého nemají na silnicích co dělat, ale jen trochu rozumná žena si RAM bude užívat. Pohodlné nastupování do auta zajistí automatické, elektricky se po otevření dveří vysouvající nášlapy. Navíc je v interiéru opravdu hodně místa pro děti a nákupy. A také je tu fakt, že se vám v tomhle autě přestanou egoističtí pitomci lepit na zadek. RAM je dle mého skvělý, s V8 pod obrovskou kapotou příjemný i dostatečně výkonný a vlastně není ani tak drahý. Takže, až vaše drahá zatouží po novém SUV, zkuste ji RAM 1500 nabídnout jako alternativu.

Závěr
V případě full-size pick-upu RAM 1500 by opravdu mohlo jít o ideální rodinné auto, protože pojme hodně členů posádky i jejich zavazadel. Kryt korby samozřejmě může být zabezpečený různými druhy krytů. V případě testovaného auta to byla uzamykatelná a zasouvací roleta. Auto je pohodlné, komfortní, tiché a i přes své obří rozměry i dostatečně dynamické.
A ta cena? Lidi, kteří se s námi v testovacím týdnu dávali do řeči, jsme schválně nejprve nechávali hádat. Všichni z nich tipovali částky mnohem vyšší, než za které auto koupíte. U TUCARu se totiž RAM 1500 – i když v nižších výbavách, dá pořídit už kolem 1,6 milionu korun. Testovaný Longhorn je o necelý půlmilion dražší. Testovaný kus vyšel nakonec s bohatou příplatkovou výbavu na něco málo přes 2,3 milionu korun s DPH.

The rear suspension design is borrowed from the new Ram 1500 pickup, which has a wheelbase 3.2 inches longer than the Gladiator’s. For its part, Jeep says the Gladiator’s frame is unique to the model.
At 218.0 inches long, the truck is 29.6 inches longer than the Unlimited, which itself is 19.6 inches longer than the two-door JL Wrangler. The Gladiator’s wheelbase gets 19.4 of those additional inches, standing at 137.3 inches.
The five-foot pickup box will be available with a spray-in bedliner, as well as a soft, roll-up tonneau with a small slit in back so you can slip in a 2×4 without fussing with it. Elsewhere, the mesh of the Gladiator’s seven-slot grille is slightly larger to deliver more cooling air to the engine due to the demands of pickup-truck towing and hauling. But even parked side-by-side, it’s hard to distinguish the Gladiator’s grille from the Wrangler’s.
The ’20 Gladiator launches with the gas-fueled 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, rated for 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft and hooked up to your choice of an eight-speed automatic or—good news, purists!—a six-speed manual transmission, a rarity these days even among mid-size pickups. In the 2020 calendar year, Jeep will add its 3.0-liter diesel V-6, and it will deliver 260 horses and 442 lb-ft. It will be available only with a six-speed automatic. Jeep has no plans to add the 48-volt, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine from the Wrangler lineup to the Gladiator’s.
Perhaps even bigger news in the powertrain department is the addition of an Off-Road Plus setting for the driver-adjustable four-wheel-drive system. This allows higher vehicle speeds with the rear locker engaged, Allen says, and you can bet this feature will migrate to the Wrangler lineup, likely by the ’20 model year. While Allen declined to comment on the possibility, Off-Road Plus already has us thinking of a future where even more high-speed capability sees Jeep battling the Ford F-150 Raptor and Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 with potential high-performance versions of the Gladiator and Wrangler.
Maximum towing is 7,650 pounds for the Gladiator Sport S, some 500 higher than the max for a Wrangler Unlimited. Jeep has shaken up the trim levels from what’s available in the Wrangler models. Like the Wrangler and Unlimited, the ’20 Gladiator starts with Sport and then moves to Sport S, but an Overland trim level displaces the Sahara. Rubicon is the top trim level here, as it is on the Wrangler.
The marque’s first pickup truck since the XJ Cherokee–based 1992 Comanche arrives in the second quarter of next year with specs that should satisfy the brand faithful. Well as if you couldn’t already tell, this Ram 1500 limited is already chucked full of heavy duty and luxury features as standard equipment. So the optional equipment on this vehicle is a fairly short list. Starting with the Delmonico Red Pearl-Coat exterior paint. A stunning color for a truck to match. Also option is the Customer Preferred Package 25M. This option package includes; Body-Color Front and Rear Bumpers with rear Step Pads, Anti-Spin Differential rear axle - quite an asset in New England, and the iconic 5.7Liter V8 Hemi MDS VVT Engine. Just what the doctor ordered to top-off this 1500. It goes without saying the 5.7 Liter V8 Hemi with 8-speed Automatic transmission can move this 1500 along quite well… and with a Maximum Payload of 1840 pounds and Maximum Towing capacity of 8190 pounds, there isn’t a lot y0u can’t do with this truck. Something you may not know about the 1500 Limited, is the Air Suspension on all 4 corners.  Pre-set to 5 heights for comfort and performance. The system works automatically, or you can control it manually from the console or key fob controls for easier entry and loading of the tailgate. Normal Ride Height, provides 8.7 inches of clearance measured from the base of the door sill. Aero mode lowers the truck a 1/2 inch from Normal Ride height to enhance fuel economy. And In Off-road mode, you can raise the truck up 2 inches for maximum ground clearance. And when the system detects a trailer or heavy payload, it uses air pressure to level and raise the vehicle back to normal ride height. When you have a big truck - getting in and out is something to consider. The Air Suspension Entry/Exit Mode lowers the vehicle 2 inches for easy entry, exit or to load cargo. With a button on the key fob you can lower the truck from outside, for easier entry and reduced tailgate loading height. Rugged and comfortable? Why can’t a truck be both? And the Ram 1500 Limited proves it no short supply of creature comforts. Along with the usual tilt & telescoping wheel to adjust to each drivers size, there’s even Power adjustable pedals. With of a button you can move both the brake and accelerator, and that’s not all, with another touch you can move the seat to preprogrammed locations for 2 different drivers. And did I mention the front seats are also ventilated. And how do you easily get into your rugged truck? With power running boards of course. Yep the Ram 1500 Limited IS rugged and comfortable.
