THE MURDER OF THE GIRL IN A PINK DRESS

She was last spotted running down the stairs of her apartment. Like she was late for something.

It was 2019, February something. Too late at night for innocent favors.

Her roommates ask where she's going

She braves a guilty lie. An innocent lie.

She was kind, she made art, she never locked doors, and she always baked cupcakes.

She was naive, wore too much makeup, and smiled too much.

She was the kind of girl to laugh at things that aren't funny and dance around her apartment in her underwear.

She was the kind of girl that wears pink dresses.

I am not kind. I do not dance.

I have a gun in my purse and my keys between my fingers.

Not the kind of girl that wears pink dresses.

Not the kind of girl with the safety on.

She was 19. It was February something, but I can't remember

That February was cold.

I remember the steep driveway and the shadow from the garage door closing.

- Had Valentine's day passed yet?

How the carpet felt and how the beer tasted funny and when hum of the AC kicking on made her jump.

The sound of a deadbolt locking.

woke up early before school to straighten her hair.

She trusted the wrong person and did not deserve it. I did it anyway she embarrassed me so

The ringing of church bells reaches me from two streets over as I make my way through the parking lot.

Relationship Status: Single and happily staying that way until i’ve got myself together enough to truly commit to someone else as well.

Favourite Colour: Cerulean (blue)!! It was always my favorite crayon color and the namesake of the Cerulean Warbler, which is one of my favorite birds.

Favourite Food: I say something different for this every time I’m asked it, but this time i’m gonna say cherries!! i’ve been REALLY into those wonderful, fresh dark cherries recently.

Song Stuck in Your Head: A medley of the songs from TMG’s Sweden since I listened to it for five and a half hours today, but mainly Deianara Crush and The Whole Wide World.

Last Thing you Googled: “mirrorless camera” because i’m thinking about getting into landscape photography and wanted to know how expensive the cameras are (the answer is Very lol, so i will be saving up for a bit).

Dream Trip: Oh gosh… dream trip EVER, i couldn’t say… But rn i’m particularly dreaming of the trip i wanna take out western US to see the Grand Canyon and southern Utah for the eclipse next fall… Remains to be seen whether it’ll come true or not, but i’m hopeful!!

Last Book You Enjoyed Reading: Haha, very funny, but definitely the above!! The first book in awhile where finishing it made me feel empty rather than victorious… It had become such a part of my daily routine that i’ll really miss it! Will definitely be checking out some of the extended reading suggestions in the back when i have more book-buying money!

Last Book You Hated Reading: I was about to say I don’t know because i’m VERY selective about what i read (and also just don’t read that much if i’m being honest), but THEN i remembered this fucking AWFUL birding “memoir” that i attempted to read back in Fall of 2019 and had to quit because it was just soooooooo pretentious and full of itself… i’m not naming the book, partially because i don’t remember and partially because it’s a pretty local thing… not something widely published, and i’m not here to punch down. but Yeah. Terrible experience, 0/10. The amount of birders who think they’re qualified to write a memoir just because they’re well-traveled is STAGGERING…

Favourite Thing to Cook/Bake: gosh idk… I do cook and bake a decent amount, but it’s not something i really enjoy doing… I guess anything that lets me knead dough… That’s one thing I do enjoy because i like the feeling and it smells great too!

Most Niche Dislike: Since getting into giffing, I have a real pet peeve for gifsets that aren’t slowed down enough. Like. I guess this is a preference thing, but imo there’s a certain amount of slowing down that you need so that your gifs don’t move awkwardly fast and many people overlook that and just go with whatever the default setting is regardless of how the finished product looks in motion. I won’t reblog otherwise flawless gifsets if they move too fast because it totally ruins it for me. I no longer find it enjoyable to look at.

Opinion on the Circus: like. morally?? or is this a reference i’m not getting? Regardless, i don’t think i know enough to answer this.

Do You Have a Sense of Direction: For the first time in a long time, yeah, I think I do. Maybe not long term, but i’m not looking to lock myself into one track forever right now, anyway… Short-term, i’m really getting it together and am super proud of myself! Definitely feel like I’m working towards a coherent future now, finally!!
