CTS Turbo Release Drop-In Turbo for Audi / VW EA888.3
We are so happy to announce some good news from CTS Turbo for owners of MQB vehicles. The company has released a budget-friendly-direct-bolt-on hybrid turbocharger for the 2015-2020 MQB platform. The kit is available in our shop for $1,499.99. CTS Turbo as a leading brand in the automotive industry is known for manufacturing and wholesaling performance parts for late-model Audi, BMW, and Volkswagen, their latest release fits all MQB-based EA888.3 vehicles such as:
2015-2019 VW Golf/Sportwagen/Alltrack
2015-2020 VW GTI
2015-2019 VW Golf R
2019-2023 VW Jetta GLI
2018-2021 VW Arteon
2015-2020 Audi A3
2015-2020 Audi S3
2015-2020 Audi TT
2015-2020 Audi TTS
ROW models can vary
This turbocharger will change your driving experience like never before by giving your ride massive power gains and superior performance. With this turbocharger, the engineers at CTS Turbo took successful features from their previous releases and made them better. They kept the journal bearing CHRA from the IS38 turbocharger and increased the thrust bearings and thrust collars by 2 mm, to match the larger wheels and the performance-oriented nature of this upgrade.
They also increased the turbo’s oil passages by 0.72mm and put the turbo through extensive in-house tests to make sure that it delivers the highest performance at different altitudes and climates. Their main goals were to manufacture a turbocharger with fast spool times, massive torque gains, and reliable solid mid-range performance, so its safe to say that the CTS Turbo JB-600 Journal Bearing Hybrid Turbocharger MQB Platform 2015-2020 delivers that and more.
Designed for street use, this turbocharger delivers approximately 600 crank hp, around 520-530whp on E85 and 430-460whp on pump 93 octane**. As a performance upgrade, this turbocharger will do wonders for the power and efficiency of your MQB platform. You should also know that this system is engineered to be very durable and withstand the high-performance demands you intend to put it through.

Always follow the proper procedure for checking/adjusting the wastegate actuator when installing the turbo! Recommended wastegate actuator voltage: 3.4V-3.6V
We recommend keeping the boost within 25-28psi, less if you’re limited by fueling or a stock engine. Do not exceed the recommended boost range, as it will reduce efficiency.
Installation must be performed by a qualified technician. Always pre-fill the turbocharger, replace engine oil and filter, and follow proper break-in procedures.

THE 10 BEST 2020 VEHICLES ACCORDING TO CAR AND DRIVER
Every year, Car and Driver magazine publishes its list of the 10 best vehicles of the year. For the 2020 vintage, you’ll find everything. Here are the 10 products identified as the best by the publication… with our little grain of salt.
1 — Chevrolet Corvette
With a revolution in configuration, it would have been surprising not to find the Chevrolet Corvette among the cars of the year. With the engine moving from the front to the center of the car, the entire handling of the car was changed, taking performance to a new level. And, as always with the model, the price compared to what you get is pretty fabulous.
The arrival of more sporty variants will also be something to watch out for, but we’re already talking about a classic.
2 — Honda Accord
The Honda Accord has always been a benchmark in its class. While it’s certainly been a great sedan for generations, it’s still an extraordinary sedan. Its style may not be universally acclaimed, but behind the wheel, it’s hard to take it for granted.
Its solid chassis allows for even sportier driving, although most buyers will prefer its comfortable side to its playful character. And when it comes to fuel consumption, it remains a benchmark. All it lacks is all-wheel drive to combat SUVs.
3 — Jeep Gladiator
Car and Driver makes an interesting analogy about the Jeep Gladiator in Rubicon version, mentioning that the latter is the off-road equivalent of a Chevrolet Corvette on a track.
The Gladiator pickup isn’t described as the best in its segment, but it’s certainly the most fun to drive. It can be transformed into a 4X4 to face the worst conditions or a convertible to enjoy the best days of summer. The availability of a manual transmission is also praised, a rarity in the industry today.
The model is expensive and the brand’s history of reliability is frightening, but the charm comes into its own when you get behind the wheel.
4 — Kia Telluride
There were skeptics when Kia and Hyundai showed up with the Telluride and Palisade full-size SUVs. In the first case, a simple touch with the vehicle is enough to understand why it’s been winning awards everywhere since its inception. This SUV offers space to spare, an incredible level of equipment for the price, and a frankly impressive degree of comfort and soundproofing.
Car and Driver goes so far as to say that this vehicle will take Kia to another level in the industry, just like the Lexus LS400 and Acura NSX did for their respective creators a little over 30 years ago. It’s advanced, but it shows just how impressed they were with this product.
For our part, without mentioning a revolutionary vehicle, we see the Telluride as a model that not only confirms Kia’s solid position in the market, but also shows us the brand’s full potential for the future.
5 — Mazda CX-5
Compact SUVs abound on the market, but when it comes to driving pleasure, none come close to the CX-5. That’s what Car and Driver points out in its analysis, and we tend to agree with that statement.
They also point out that the CX-5 is not the most powerful or spacious of its herd. An imperfect product, therefore, but whose charm works enough to make it a must in its category.
6 — Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman
When it comes to driving pleasure, few vehicles in the industry come close to what the Boxster/Cayman duo offers. Porsche is quietly turning to electrification, which makes these models still powered by future collectible combustion engines.
However, sales have been dropping in recent years, since the switch to a 4-cylinder engine with most variants. Nonetheless, the balance of the model and the feeling it delivers to the driver remain really special.
7 — Porsche Macan S/Turbo
This is true with the Boxster and also true in the world of SUVs, while the Macan offers a unique driving experience in its segment. Better yet, with the two new turbo engines introduced in 2019, performance has been pushed to a truly impressive level. We’re talking 348 horsepower for the S version, 434 for the turbocharged one.
Car and Driver doesn’t praise the 4-cylinder engine variant, as Porsche didn’t provide it with one. In this case, a similar experience can be found with Audi’s Q5, and at a lower price.
8 — Ram 1500
As we know, the Ram’s reputation for reliability is not the most enviable. However, when compared to its rivals when new, it’s hard not to rank it as the best of its kind. The level of comfort offered by this pickup is truly impressive, as is the richness of the interior presentation, which has no equal in the automotive world.
Ram offers both great luxury and great capacity with its Ram 1500, not to mention an engine family that offers something for every taste. Car and Driver goes further. It calls the Ram 1500 not only the best vehicle in its class, but also one of the best vehicles in the industry. It’s a bit of a stretch, but it shows just how seductive this vehicle is.
9 — Toyota Supra
With only 300 units reserved for Canada in the first year of production, we don’t see many Toyota Supra’s on the road. However, you can take Car and Driver’s word for it, it’s a really fun experience. You can feel BMW’s DNA when you guide this car on the road or on the track, but the design is a Japanese affair that doesn’t leave you indifferent.
With a base price that’s quite attractive considering the level of performance offered, driving enthusiasts have a lot to get their teeth into with this model.
10 — Volkswagen Golf GTI et Jetta GLI
The Volkswagen GTI is a regular in this kind of charts, but Car and Driver is adding the Jetta GLI this year, which undergoes similar treatment to what makes the Golf GTI so unique and fun. Having guided this car through twisty roads when it was launched last year, we can confirm that we’re in the presence of a perfectly balanced creation.
In both cases, you get the perfect compromise between comfort, practicality, performance and reasonable price. Models to discover, really.

2019’s Top Rides: Part 3/Buick Regal GS, Subaru Ascent and Golf R
By Michael Hozjan
Buick Regal GS AWD: Buick gets it right
At 12, I wanted to be a car designer. Fate however had different plans for me. With an eye for automotive design, I grew up loving Buicks; from the ’57 Special to the ’59 Invicta, with the ’64 Wildcat stealing my heart time and again. Cadillacs took a close second, Fords were ok but I found Chevs too feminine. Buicks, were masculine with broad shouldered front fenders and creased lines, personifying the designing cues of GM greats, Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell.
Then came the Riviera. One snowy December afternoon as I headed to my post office, there on St. Lawrence Boulevard, with six inches of snow on the ground sat a ’65 Riviera. My heart skipped several beats and I must have studied its lines for what seemed like an eternity.
Well into the ‘70s there were some noteworthy designs that came out of Buick’s design studios however, the last four decades have been anything but exciting. That has all changed with the launch of the Regal GS – the sexiest Buick to come out of Detroit in, well the last four decades.
The Grand Sport designation is nothing new to the Buick line up, having been associated with ‘70s era muscle cars but this is the first time that it has been used in a European sports sedan context. The stylish GS goes up against some well established rivals like the Acura TLX, Lexus ES, BMW 3 series and the like, a tough field to say the least. The Regal GS is more than just good looks, it’s a bona fide sports sedan. In fact a rebadged, German built, Opel Insignia, so the GS starts with the right genes. European engineered handling makes it the best tarmac gripping Buick ever.
Red Brembo brake calipers immediately tell everyone that this is not your typical Buick.
While different drive options/trim levels are available elsewhere around the globe, we Canucks get only one trim/drive option- also the most desirable one - the all-wheel-drive version motivated by the 310 horsepower DOHC, 3.6L V6 with variable valve timing punching out 282 lb-ft of torque through a 9-speed automatic.
Entry price is $44,045, my tester came with the Buick Experience Package ($3,495) that included the moonroof, a Bose premium 8-speaker sound system, wireless charging, an 8” touch screen, HD radio, LED leveling headlights, The Driver Confidence Package (yes you read that right) at $1,995 includes adaptive cruise, forward collision alert with automatic braking, lane keep assist, front pedestrian braking and heads up display. The Ebony Twilight Metallic paint was a premium option at $495.
The all-wheel-drive gets a torque vectoring rear axle, which only improves traction in slippery conditions and makes the Buick eat up the corners. Buick has also given us three driving modes to choose from, Touring, Sport and GS
Inside you’ve got one color choice, black. The supportive Recaros have a massage feature as well as being heated/cooled. Both driver’s and passenger seats have 14 adjustments to suit your body, including adjustable bolsters. Following with the German sport sedan traits, it includes a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Rear seat passengers get ample legroom, but headroom is tight for taller occupants. With 30.cu.ft of space under the hatch with the rear seats up, with over 60 cu.ft with the rear seats folded, it betters many compact crossovers!
Is it perfect?
Non-functional air intakes in the front valance are mickey-mouse and a step backwards. Why not leave them open and help cool the brakes? No spare tire but a useless tire fix kit –that’ll help when you have a blow out or bend a wheel on Quebec’s pot holes. On the comical side, the audio system had mixed up the Cirius station numbers it’s 60s on 6 and not 660s on six….and the same could be said for 50s on 5 not 550s on 5, as well as 70s, 80s and 90s.
You can go through the gears manually with the console mounted shifter but paddle shifters would have been a nice touch to compliment the smooth 9-speed automatic.
Will the GS steal buyers away from BMW? I hardly doubt it but it does give of us a formidable option to keep our performance dollars with domestic manufacturers, and the GS buyer has nothing to be apologetic for.

Subaru Ascent: If at first you don’t succeed…
If you thought that Subaru already had a large SUV you’re right. The magic word here being had. The B9 Tribeca, later shortened to just Tribeca debuted in 2005 to, lets just say a less than stellar sales, and by 2014 had moved into the automotive history books of what once was.
It takes guts to admit that you were wrong, and it takes even big cojones to come back with a similar sized vehicle. Truth be told the SUV market has also changed over the last decade with SUVs growing increasingly larger, just like the population. Subaru appears to have been ahead of its time back in 2005 when 3-row SUV’s didn’t proliferate our roads, and minivans still reigned supreme for getting the platoon to school. But times have changed and so the new Ascent is the company’s answer to the latest trend.
The Ascent is also Subaru’s largest vehicle to date, with 142 mm longer wheelbase and 134 mm longer in length than the Tribeca, so yes passenger comfort has been greatly increased. The midsize SUV is built on the company’s Global Platform, a chassis that is easily adaptable; serving as the basis for everything from their Impreza and Crosstrek to the Ascent.
Available in four trim levels – Convenience, Touring, Limited and Premier - with the entry level 8-passenger Convenience starting at a meager $36,695. Regardless of trim, there’s a new 2.4L direct-injected, turbocharged boxer four cylinder dolling out 260 horses and 277 lb-ft of torque through the High-torque Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission).
Talk to anyone who’s ever driven a Subie in less than ideal conditions and they’ll swear by the symmetrical full-time all-wheel-drive system. A new feature, X-Mode, pushes the traction envelope even further; at the push of a button, it monitors and controls four different vehicle dynamics, including engine, transmission, torque splitting and braking.
There’s a lot of standard driver-assistance technology in each Ascent without having to step up to trim levels, Items like automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist through the company’s EyeSight system. The base model gets a 6.5 inch infotainment screen while upper trim buyers will see an 8 inch screen. GPS however is only available in the two higher end trims (Limited and Premier). Both Touring and Limited are available in either seven or eight passenger configurations with captain’s chairs taking up the second row. My tester, the Premier trim comes only with the second row captains chairs. While all trims get heated front buckets it’s only the two higher trims that pamper their second row passengers with heated outboard seats. The third row looks a lot more inviting than some of it’s competitors but it’s still on the tight side with limited leg room. Still bear in mind this is a mid-size seven passenger and the seats are padded and comfortable to keep the small fry happy for longer drives. Oh and a pair of third-row USB charging ports become available in the Limited trim and are in addition to the standard two you’ll find in the front and second rows.
Rear cover blind and tow loop are stowed neatly under the cargo bay’s floor, the latter an option on some pricier suvs
.
Whether you’re out in the boonies or negotiating city streets, the Ascent doesn’t feel like a large bulky SUV. With above average handling and a minimum of body roll for a three-row SUV, Subaru’s use of the boxer engine and its advantageous low center of gravity immediately become apparent. It’s stable, with a soft luxurious ride and is generally quiet during normal highway cruising. But it does get loud when pushed hard.
Is it perfect?
The drone of the CVT does get annoying but once you get passed that, the Ascent is typically Subaru; it does everything what it’s supposed to and does it well. I averaged 9.8L/100 km which is unprecedented in a 7-passenger sport ute. It may not be overly luxurious but you get what you pay for. I know my Subaru driving friends will all be looking at the Ascent when the time comes to turn in their current drives, and that alone will keep this big Subaru around for a long time to come.

Volkswagen Golf R: You’ll want one
If you’ve missed my installment of the Rabbit GTI, I urge you to scroll down the page and have a read.
Now take the GTI and turn it up a notch, or three. The formula for the Golf R is very simple; take one German built spacious hatchback that already has solid, tight handling, and add gobbs of turbocharged horses to a 2.0L inline four cylinder. How many ponies? Two eighty-eight to be exact – enough to propel you well past the posted speed limit in less time than it takes you to say posted speed limit. Now stir in all-wheel drive to put all that power to the ground. Slam it to the ground for added handling. Dress it up with killer 19” wheels.
Choose between the 6-speed manual available for $42,495 or the 7-speed dual clutch automatic with Tiptronic for $43,895. Now go have the most fun you can with your clothes on.
Doesn’t look like it but there’s nearly 300 horses in there
Quad exhaust tips tell you this is no ordinary Golf
The Golf R is everything you want in a performance sedan and then some. It makes no sense in a country with posted speed limits, but then neither do Porches, Ferraris and the like.

2019 Volkswagen Golf Redesign, Release Date And Price
New Post has been published on https://www.vwcartrend.com/2019-volkswagen-golf-redesign-release-date-and-price/
2019 Volkswagen Golf Redesign, Release Date And Price
medianet_width = "336"; medianet_height = "280"; medianet_crid = "573553158"; medianet_versionId = "3111299";
2019 Volkswagen Golf Redesign, Release Date And Price – Permit us to begin our review of your approaching 2019 Volkswagen Golf with its exterior design. Through the leaked out pictures of the car is evident that VW would love a more contemporary look. Nonetheless, the changes are probably not as significant as quite a few of us imagined. Within the top new headlights can be found around the underlying models and also across the GTI. This appearance is a lot more much like what is on the market today in regards to the most current Passat. The grille has not changed all the. However, the bumper does. You can find newly molded air intakes and also different housings to the fog-lamps. The leaked images also show at the minimum two new types of wheels which are available in the standard Golf together with on the GTI. The latter also usually seems to get a new backend bumper with built-in exhausts which appear similar to people inside the new Passat way too.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Sadly at the distinct position little is considered regarding the car’s interior. However, not too extended before VW showcased a new infotainment method with energetic handle. This can work with a sizeable 9.5 in. HD touchscreen that will in every probability use IPS technologies. This can offer the car measures handle which is at this time readily available only at the top conclusion designs. Along with this, its device bunch is predicted to be enhanced as well. As is the base version will not get it, it needs to be an option for that other versions. This will likely add a very comparable set-up to what is at the moment available on the most up-to-date Audi A4 and R8.
medianet_width = "336"; medianet_height = "280"; medianet_crid = "573553158"; medianet_versionId = "3111299";
The best thing from the new Golf is it is the interior. Even though it appears precisely efficiently like before, its quality is effectively on the top of the normal. We would go with regards to stating the automobile also gives a better cabin than various other more expensive vehicles on the market. The most significant news regarding the update is the new infotainment system and VW’s all-electronic device group. The infotainment gets a larger sized 9.2-inch effect-screen with faster components. The instrument cluster, alternatively, receives a 12-inches display screen in which the driver can set up to its choice.
The primary engine that may be put in for that 2019 Volkswagen Golf will probably be their new 1 liter turbocharged inline 3. This is also offered in the continuous product precisely where it will make 113 horsepower which happens to be really impressive to the size. More within the collection, we need to see an updated 1.4-liter TSI model offering 125 and 160 hp. The 1.8-liter turbo is available only in the US, should obtain a tiny improve also. The GTI, plus the R, need to equally accomplish precisely the same engines as before with small updates. Some rumors suggested for that new diesel, but at the point, it even so is quite earlier to note one thing about the subject.
There are actually a good number of readily available engines throughout the Golf upgrade. The bottom version turns into a 1.-liter turbo-3 ideal for 113 hp. This provides much better fuel economy when designed with the revised several-rate DSG gearbox. A more excellent 1.5 liter turbocharged inline 4 engine has been given available. This now gives as much as 150 hp which is brought to the leading rims by way of a 6-speed handbook or perhaps a new 7-pace DSG. The GTI will get the same 2.-liter engine as before which now helps make 227 hp within the basic toned level. The R, even so, produces a little under 300 horsepower making it one of the really most robust VW automobiles concerning the market.

2019 Volkswagen Golf
The popular Volkswagen Golf is offered in both 4-door hatchback form and as a wagon, with 2-door hatchback variants no longer produced. The Golf 1.4 T and SportWagen are powered by a 147-horsepower turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder. In the hatchback, this is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The SportWagen 4Motion and the Alltrack, meanwhile, are powered by a 170-hp 1.8L turbocharged four. The SportWagen S 4Motion, SE, and SEL are offered with the automatic only. Meanwhile, the Alltrack S, SE and SEL all come standard with VW’s 6-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.
The Golf GTI comes with a potent turbocharged and intercooled 2.0L 4-cylinder that produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels and is offered with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. At the top of the Golf hatchback range is the Golf R. The R also sports the turbocharged 2.0L, upped to 292 horsepower and 280 pound-feet, with the sure-footedness of VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive. Power is put to the wheels through either the 6-speed manual or the 6-speed DSG transmission.
The all-electric e-Golf is powered by 24.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that runs a permanent-magnet 85-kW AC electric motor. The output equivalent is 115 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. The car’s range is 100-115 miles when fully charged, and a 240-volt dedicated in-home charger can recharge the battery in six hours. Using household 120-volt current takes 20 hours. The e-Golf offers three selectable driving modes: Normal, Eco and Eco+, which vary regenerative braking and throttle response to either maximize power or range. Golf 1.4T models are offered in S and SE trims. The S trim includes 15-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free connectivity, an 8-speaker stereo with iPod hookup, 6.5-inch touchscreen with satellite radio, steering wheel audio controls, smartphone integration, remote keyless entry and a leather shift knob, as well as cloth seating with a 60/40 split folding rear seat. Forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian monitoring, blind-spot indicator and rear traffic alert are all standard as well. The SE brings 16-inch alloys, a power sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, automatic headlights and heated front seats.
GTIs come in S, SE and Autobahn trims, plus a Rabbit Edition. In S trim, the GTI offers LED fog lights, heated mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels, while inside there’s plaid cloth upholstery with heated front seats, a cooled glovebox, selectable driving modes, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, Bluetooth, the 6.5-inch touchscreen and a rearview camera.
In the SE, there’s a sunroof, leather upholstery, a Fender audio system and automatic headlights. GTI Autobahn models add adaptive LED headlights and various performance upgrades like a limited-slip front differential, bigger brakes plus enhanced handling thanks to adaptive damping and a larger rear stabilizer bar. Dual-zone climate control, navigation and a 10-way power driver seat round out the selection.
The range-topping Golf R is packed with premium standard features that include a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, HID headlamps, heated power-adjustable leather seats and dual-zone climate control.
SportWagens are offered in three trims: S, SE and SEL, with an all-wheel-drive 4Motion variant also available in S trim. The S trim is configured similarly to the Golf S, with the addition of LED exterior lighting. In the SE, buyers will find 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, halogen fog lights, a power panoramic sunroof and a rearview camera. Inside, amenities include a Fender premium audio system with eight speakers and a subwoofer and heated front seats. The top-of-the-line SEL trim includes 18-inch wheels, touchscreen navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control and front sport seats with 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
With the exception of a more rugged exterior appearance, elevated ride height, and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive, the Alltrack in S, SE, and SEL is outfitted similarly to its SportWagen siblings.
All Golfs come with standard safety features that include anti-lock brakes, traction control and engine braking assist, plus a host of airbags to protect the cabin.
For 2019, the Volkswagen Golf and Golf Sportwagen drop the turbocharged 1.8L 4-cylinder engine making 170 hp and instead adopt the Jetta’s turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder engine, which makes 147 hp. Only the all-wheel-drive Alltrack and the SportWagen with 4Motion all-wheel drive hold onto the larger engine. Elsewhere, the Golf adds advanced safety features, such as blind-spot monitor, rear traffic alert and forward collision warning. Finally, the GTI gets a bump in engine output, from 220 to 228 horsepower. The brakes have been upgraded and it now features a mechanical limited-slip differential borrowed from the Golf R. A new Rabbit Edition has also been slotted into the GTI lineup.
Practical and spacious hatchback layout; available capacious wagon; all-wheel-drive availability; sharp steering and handling; impressive fuel economy; affordable performance; electric option
Few cars have the staying power or instant recognition of the Volkswagen Golf, and the seventh-generation Golf picks up right where its predecessor left off–with even more to like. As a leader in the busy hatchback segment, the Golf is loaded with standard features, excellent ergonomics, and plenty of practical space for passengers and cargo. Turbocharged power gives the Golf just enough pep. The GTI is perennially lauded in the “hot hatch” segment, with the Golf R taking it even further up the performance ladder. Two wagon options add incredible versatility, and the all-electric e-Golf is as economical as they come. Overall, the VW Golf family offers tremendous value and flexibility for anyone interested in owning one.

THE TOP 25 MODELS TO COME, ACCORDING TO CAR AND DRIVER
The American magazine Car and Driver recently published its list of 25 models that deserve to be expected over the next few years. We’re going through this fine selection of vehicles with a grain of salt.
Ah yes, don’t think that these 25 upcoming models are the only ones planned for the next 3-4 seasons. Even though the pandemic is currently affecting the entire industry, the automotive world is preparing for what’s next… and the resumption of production as soon as possible!
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2022
According to the publication, the next level of Corvette is expected in 2022. We can expect a multiplication of versions of the model, which, it should be remembered, now uses a centrally located engine. Over the years, Chevrolet has introduced us to several liveries of the sports car, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the ZR1 badge coming back. For this future Z06, a naturally aspirated V8 engine is probably the solution, while on-road performance is likely to be more spicy.
Porsche 718 GT4 RS 2022
Still in the ultra-sporty segment, Porsche is busy pushing the limits of its most affordable coupe even further. After the GT4, the RS badge would theoretically end the career of this generation of the coupe. The 4.0-liter naturally aspirated 6-cylinder flat-bed engine is expected to be more muscular than ever in this track-ready car.
McLaren 765LT 2021
This “longer” evolution of the 720S (LT stands for Long Tail) has already been unveiled on the web. So we know many details about the final version, because even the pictures are available. What is certain is that the 765LT will certainly be even more formidable than the 720S. Lighter than the 720S, the 765LT will also be more powerful thanks to a 755-hp twin-turbo V8 engine. Its arrival is expected before the end of the year.
Aston Martin Vanquish 2024
Let’s stay in the UK if you don’t mind, as Aston Martin is also preparing a metamorphosis of its entire line-up.
Obviously, the DBX SUV is the number one priority for the next few months, but after that, the British firm’s engineers will have to focus on moving the majority of sports cars to a mid-engine configuration. After the Valkyrie supercar, the automaker intends to market a Vanquish with a turbocharged V6 engine and electric power assist. Yes, even Aston Martin cannot escape electrification.
Maserati MC20 2021
There’s also something new at Maserati, the Italian automaker, which is already working on a mid-engine sports car powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that could, according to the magazine, surpass the 600-horsepower mark.
And since the Italian firm has already indicated its intention to electrify its entire fleet, it wouldn’t be surprising if the MC20 receives a hybrid powertrain and even a pure electric one a little later in its lifecycle.
BMW i8 M 2024
Despite the mixed success of the BMW i8, Car and Driver believes that the Vision M Next prototype (see photo) presented in 2019 shows what to expect from the i8 replacement.
For now, it is too early to confirm the return of the i8 name, but what is certain according to the publication is that the manufacturer is preparing a sequel to this first exotic plug-in hybrid. And this second opus would be more focused on high performance. However, patience will be needed, because this future BMW, a half-petrol, half-electric vehicle, is expected in 2023 at the earliest.
GMC Hummer 2022
The American giant made a lot of noise earlier this year by unveiling part of the snout of the first all-electric pickup truck for GMC. Not only is this a first for GMC, but the division has chosen to bring the Hummer name back to the market. The manufacturer even announced a 1,000 horsepower and extra-long range.
Competition is beginning to take shape in this niche of electrically-powered pickup trucks.
Tesla Cybertruck 2022
In fact, if there’s one American manufacturer who knows how to attract all the attention to its products, it’s Tesla! And the brand founded by Elon Musk also made a lot of headlines last year with the presentation of the Cybertruck, the most unusual van in history with a triangular design that leaves no one indifferent.
Just like the GMC Hummer, the Tesla Cybertruck promises breathtaking accelerations thanks to powerful engines and very interesting autonomy.
Hyundai Santa Cruz 2021
We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time. Hyundai presented its Santa Cruz prototype in 2015 and its arrival is finally scheduled for 2021.
This first foray by the Korean giant into the mid-size pickup segment will in a way follow the model first introduced with the Honda Ridgeline, the Japanese pickup based on a monocoque architecture, unlike the other vehicles in the category, all perched on ladder-type chassis.
4-cylinder powertrains are also to be expected for the Santa Cruz, which will be positioned as a leisure van rather than a real work tool.
Ford F-150 2021
Speaking of pickup trucks: the world’s best-selling pickup truck is set to receive a light sweep for the 2021 model year, as several make-up prototypes have already been seen on North American roads.
So this is not a design revolution, but rather a revision of exterior usage. Under the hood, several powertrains will be back, but the arrival of a hybrid version is expected, while Ford has already revealed its intention to tackle the electric niche, thanks to the partnership with Rivian.
Car and Driver is also looking into the future of the Raptor, which, with the arrival of the Ram Rebel TRX, could benefit from a supercharged V8 engine borrowed from the Shelby GT500. The Ford F-150 should continue to dominate for a few more years to come!
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2021
The current generation of the 4×4 has been in service since the 2011 model year. Although it has aged very well over the seasons, Grand Cherokee is in need of renewal.
We can expect a few mechanical changes under the hood of the SUV, as well as a new architecture. The Daimler Chrysler-era skeleton will be replaced by Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform. What’s important is that the Grand Cherokee retains its 4×4 status as part of an all-utility vehicle lineup.
Kia Sorento 2021
Earlier this year, the Korean automaker unveiled the new generation of the popular crossover. While the design is evolving timidly, it’s under the hood that the Sorento presents itself in a new light. Indeed, with a hybrid powertrain and two other four-cylinder engines, Kia seems more serious in its approach to taking sales away from the competition.
Genesis GV80 2021
So far, the Genesis division hasn’t really managed to establish itself in the collective imagination with its three sedans, despite the qualities of the latter and the many prizes they’ve won.
Perhaps a superbly crafted crossover will make up for that. The GV80, as its name suggests, is the elevated equivalent of the G80. However, the SUV offers an entry-level 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, while a twin-turbocharged 375-hp V6 completes the lineup. The GV80 also consolidates the brand’s new language.
Lexus LQ 2022
A quick look at the Lexus alignment confirms that the manufacturer is well represented in all segments. Unfortunately, buyers of large SUVs don’t necessarily need a genuine 4×4 like the LX (essentially a dressed-up Toyota Land Cruiser).
That’s where a more comfortable SUV inspired by the LS limousine would fit in. The Lexus LQ would fit into a segment occupied by the Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5s of this world and could even aim higher with a livery tattooed with the F badge.
Lincoln Mark E 2022
Ford’s luxury fender has already indicated that it wants to partner with Rivian in the development of a future all-electric SUV. Here, the name is purely fictitious, but as Car and Driver indicates, with an electric powertrain, the name Mark E seems appropriate.
Still, you’ll have to be patient in this case, as his arrival is expected in 2022.
Land Rover Defender 80 2023
To keep up with the current trend for off-road-flavoured utility vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover may be tempted to emulate Ford, which is about to launch the Bronco and Bronco Sport at the same time, the latter being only a scaled-down copy of the former.
Land Rover has just relaunched its legendary Defender, but this model is not for everyone. A Defender 80 (read smaller) could fill the coffers of the brand supported by the Indian giant Tata.
Audi Q4 e-tron 2021
For the past year or so, Audi has been offering its North American customers the e-tron SUV, the vehicle that has recently been joined by the Sportback penchant.
Unfortunately, both of these models are expensive, a detail that could be corrected by a smaller electric crossover. The Q4 e-tron prototype unveiled in 2019 also looks very close to a production model, suggesting that the Q4 – which is based on Volkswagen’s SEM platform – could come along quickly next year.
Alfa Romeo Tonale 2021
If there’s one manufacturer on this list that needs help, it’s Alfa Romeo. Despite the Italian manufacturer’s glorious past, sales figures were simply not taking off, even before the current pandemic.
The arrival of the Stelvio, the brand’s only utility vehicle, certainly helped, but a more urban and accessible model inspired by the Tonale concept would be welcome these days, especially with a hybrid powertrain as promised by the prototype.
Toyota Corolla GR 2022
Rumors have been around for a few years, but it seems the time has finally come for Toyota to add a little adrenaline to its Corolla lineup.
While it’s clear that the Yaris GR introduced earlier this year is a strictly European affair (our North American Yaris is a Mazda2 in disguise), the Corolla could benefit from the Yaris GR’s turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. With 257 horsepower, a Corolla GR equipped with a six-speed manual transmission – and everything needed to keep up with the road – could take a few sales off a certain Golf GTI.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2021
When GM announced the end of production of the large CT6 sedan last year, many fans wondered what would happen to the new twin-turbo V8 engine also known as the Blackwing. It seems that the 5.5-litre block isn’t compatible with the new CT5 sedan, as Car and Driver claims that this Blackwing variant will be powered by the good old 6.2-litre supercharged V8 previously used in the CTS. Better yet, the publication states that the car will be available with a six-speed manual transmission or the 10-speed automatic unit. Despite the confusion in the nomenclature, this CT5-V Blackwing 2021 is sure to be a track bombshell with 650 horsepower!
Hyundai RM20 N 2023
The Korean giant has already been working on this mid-engine sports car project for several years. And it looks like the idea is about to be approved for series production.
As mentioned by C&D, Hyundai’s senior management is reportedly still studying the option of transferring the project to the Genesis side. However, performance enthusiasts are leaning towards Hyundai, as a car sold under the popular brand is likely to be more affordable than the same architecture at Genesis.
Hyundai might be about to bring back the concept launched by a certain Renault 5 Turbo in the 80s, and that’s very exciting!
Mazda6 2023
Launched in 2013 as a 2014 model, the current Mazda6 was already positioned as a sedan with high-end aspirations. Since then, the manufacturer has been constantly looking to raise the level of its vehicles, as if it wanted to move to the luxury side. The next 6 could even come to play in the big league, as it’s rumored that the car will be equipped with a 6-cylinder inline-drive and even a rear-wheel drive architecture. Any questions?
Acura TLX Type S 2021
All indications are that the next Acura TLX will be decidedly more competent on the road than its predecessor. The current TLX isn’t bad, but it lacks that spark to worry the class leaders. Chassis work and a new twin-turbo V6 engine should contribute to a little more passion for this long-awaited return of the Type S badge.
Nissan 400Z 2021
One of the oldest cars on the road is a Nissan. The 370Z was launched in 2009, which explains its slightly more archaic driving experience. With Nissan’s economic and financial turmoil, the addition of a niche sports car is certainly not the brand’s priority at the time of writing, but for Nissan’s fame, the rebirth of the mythical Z is necessary.
The Infiniti Q60’s twin-turbo V6 engine is expected to be the chosen engine to power the 400Z, while it’s likely that buyers will still have the choice between a manual transmission or an automatic unit. As for design, it’s rumored that the next Z will be largely inspired by the original 240Z. It looks promising!
Ford Fusion Active 2022
The manufacturer of Dearborn has abandoned the traditional car in North America, with the exception of the Mustang and the Fusion which persists for a few more months. However, it seems that the brand’s decision-makers want to tackle the Subaru Outback with an elevated wagon based on the Ford Mondeo.
It should be remembered that originally, the Ford Focus Active was supposed to cross the Atlantic, but this project finally fell through. This Fusion Active could correct the situation and bring a so-called car back to the continent, despite its utility side.

Volkswagen Golf R: 40 Custom Colors and We Drive the Wagon
I’m not a fan of metallic white paint—it looks too showy and contrived to my eyes. It’s most often seen on luxury cars from the likes of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, or perhaps on a chrome-clad Cadillac Escalade parked at Bushwood Country Club, but it’s also available on the delightful Volkswagen Golf R, where it’s called Oryx White. Sadly, while you can’t get that car in the classier, motorsports-like non-metallic Pure White available in Europe, VW did recently announce an impressive consolation prize: an additional 40 optional colors for the 2019 model year marketed under the Volkswagen Spektrum Program banner.
A large offering of colors is nothing new in the high-end market but it’s special to find the wide selection on an automobile at the R’s lower price point. In addition, the pricing of the 40 custom colors fits the VW’s station. If you want a special color on a new Porsche, the outlay ranges from $6520 on a Macan to $12,830 on the 700-hp 911 GT2 RS. Over at Ferrari, it costs $12,487 to paint the new 488 Pista in a historic color. Picking a hue from the Volkswagen Spektrum Program only sets you back $2500. Not inexpensive, but pocket change by comparison.
And the majority of the new colors are far more exciting than refrigerator white. The Golf R is limited to five no-charge colors in the U.S.A.: Lapiz Blue, Tornado Red, Deep Black Pearl, Indium Gray, and, yes, Oryx White. The Spektrum Program includes Viper Green from the Lamborghini Huracàn and Euro Mk III Scirocco; Deep Blue Pearl from the Mk IV and Mk V R32s; and Mars Red from the Mk I Golf GTI. VW dealers have a color binder with paint samples and an online configurator featuring all 40 is live on vw.com.
Volkswagen’s press release notes that it will take two to four months for a car with one of the 40 colors to be built and delivered after an order is submitted. Mark Gillies, senior manager of product and technology communications at Volkswagen of America, said that the noted timeline is based upon Canada’s program (which started for the 2018 model year), but the port setup in the U.S. should improve things. I’m still looking forward to seeing a Golf R on the streets of America sprayed one of these special colors.
While we’re on the topic of the Golf R, I recently got to drive the not-for-the-USA wagon version in England. The Tornado Red example featured a non-U.S. Golf R option in the R Performance Pack. This £2300 (approximately $3000) package adds 19-inch wheels (the same “Englishtown” wheels that are standard on the Golf R here, although they’re called “Spielberg” there); upgraded, lighter brakes with silver-painted calipers; and a derestricted top speed. Hatchback versions of the Golf R carrying this package also get a larger rear hatch spoiler for increased downforce, although the wagon’s longer roof precludes that. Maximum speed of the Performance Pack hatch is 166 mph, but the wagon will carry on to 168 mph, according to VW. Buyers of the hatchback are also able to stack on an Akrapovic titanium exhaust for a pricey £2975 ($3895). The busy roads and lack of an autobahn in the U.K. didn’t allow me to test the top speed, but I did get plenty of time to exploit the the Golf R wagon’s other performance virtues.
Like the hatch, it’s a fast, comfortable, and versatile performance car that runs under the radar. Well, it would run under the radar if painted a subtler color than Tornado Red. (So forget about Viper Green.) The wagon version adds nearly a foot of length and 33 percent more cargo room, as well as 194 additional pounds at the curb. While it’s true that I’m a wagon nut, the hatchback is the better looking and more proportional design. The Golf R just doesn’t carry the same pretty proportions in wagon form as do, say, the BMW 3 Series or the new Volvo V60. Plus, if you don’t need the extra cargo space then the wagon doesn’t really make sense, as the shorter car is still plenty practical. The rest of the interior is pretty much identical. Most important, VW doesn’t offer the Golf R wagon with a manual gearbox, forcing buyers into the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, which has wicked-quick shifts but can be frustratingly clumsy when pulling away from a stop.
None of that kills my love of the Golf R in any form. The breadth of capability and overall performance given the outlay of cash is fantastic. It’s as happy to be thrashed on twisting, challenging English roads as it is at cruising effortlessly on an American freeway at 80 mph with four people and luggage. As long as you respect the throttle, it returns pretty impressive fuel economy, too. The Golf R is one of my top picks for a car that I’d buy with my own money for year-around use in Michigan. Of course, I’d get the manual gearbox. And I’d petition VW to add Pure White to the standard color palette here in the States, because I’d rather put $2500 toward importing that sweet titanium Akropovic exhaust.

2019 Hyundai Veloster First Review - 2019 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec Manual Share this video: https://youtu.be/B8wBzDs5ugI Tuned in for the next episode of “The Price Is Light.” Someday soon, we expect a Hyundai product to top its class without trading on “great value” as its primary attribute. We’re closer than ever to that day. Touting a multilink rear suspension in place of its predecessor’s torsion-beam axle, a nicer interior, and a more muscular appearance that belies an underlying weight-loss program, the second-generation 2019 Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec performs well, yet it still substitutes a lower price for the finer allures that put the Honda Civic Si and the Volkswagen Golf GTI on our 2018 10Best Cars list. Highs Performance per dollar, distinctive design, far more sophisticated driving character than the first-gen Veloster. Lows Control feel still falls slightly short of great competitors, how often can you stand to hear the word “funky”? Its asymmetrical three-door configuration and hyena-like stance proclaim the Veloster’s role as a sportier coupe-like variant of the conventional Elantra GT hatchback, analogous to the way the late VW Scirocco stood in relation to the Golf. For the model’s sophomore outing, Hyundai has optimized the design with a more toothsome face and muscular haunches while also making it a little more practical by expanding cargo volume from 16 cubic feet to 20, eight more than you’ll find in a Civic Si coupe. It’s a neat bit of packaging, considering the wheelbase hasn’t changed and the car is actually a shade shorter than the original, while its roof looks more steeply raked, giving the sense that the Veloster is always going uphill. Upward is also where the interior designers were focused, employing better grades of plastic and fabric in the nicely finished cabin. Colored accents on the dash, steering wheel, and seat stitching make things considerably more interesting to look at than in the Elantra GT. The Veloster Turbo shares its new rear suspension and carry-over 201-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four with the Elantra GT Sport. This suspension improves on the original with more refined handling and a smoother ride, even with the Turbo’s stiffer anti-roll bars and dampers. Aluminum suspension components reduce unsprung mass and contribute to this car weighing 39 pounds less than the lightest first-gen Veloster we tested, a 2016 Rally Edition, and 212 pounds less than the Elantra GT Sport. The setup makes good use of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, serious performance rubber that’s standard on this driver-focused R-Spec trim (and on the manual-transmission Turbo Ultimate). Like the Si, the R-Spec comes only with a six-speed manual gearbox, also shared with the Elantra, and it’s enhanced with a standard B&M short-throw shifter (an option on other Hyundais using this gearbox). The Numbers Are There Weight-paring and sticky rubber help this R-Spec scoot to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, whereas the ’16 needed 6.7 with the same powertrain. Thanks in large part to the Michelins, skidpad grip jumps to 0.95 g from 0.85, and stopping from 70 mph takes only 151 feet versus 173. The Veloster R-Spec plays in a league with the 205-hp Civic Si coupe (6.3 seconds to 60 mph, 0.97 g, and 159 feet) and the 220-hp GTI (5.7 seconds, 0.95 g, 161 feet). The 268-hp Subaru WRX is the class hot rod with a zippy 5.5-second sprint to 60 mph (we’ve even seen 5.0 in earlier examples), but the all-wheel-drive Subie is in the middle of the pack in roadholding and braking.,etc Enjoy watching & SUBSCRIBE HERE https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMhOketEmykEIO36tdSMBmw?sub_confirmation=1 ⚠ Don’t miss next videos: Press the little bell 🔔 to get notifications.Thank you for your visit.
