#2018 Lexus Ls 500 Coupe

I’ve been working for Lexus for 7 years now and have seen the release of several new models. A particularly memorable year was 2018 when the all-new LC was released along with a totally redesigned LS. The LS is the flagship sedan, and the LC is a large luxury sport coupe. For the first time, the all-new LS 500 received a turbo 6-cylinder engine rather than the traditional V8 that had been used in the LS since its origination with the brand. The 2018 LS 500 received a boost of 25 horsepower over the outgoing 2017 model. Having driven both models I can be certain that the LS 500 is a superior driving machine and though the power boost on paper is less than ten percent the change in driving dynamic is profound.

                Having spoken with many Lexus owners during ride-alongs and elsewhere I know that reliability is a particularly important selling point. Working as a technician I question if the reliability of the reliability of the three-and-a-half-liter twin turbo V6 is up to par with the outgoing V8. We have seen some issues with the new engine, but I would say that the failure rate is rather low and the 4.6 V8 was not without its issues, especially with over one hundred thousand miles. The original 4.0 and 4.3 V8 engines were the best that Lexus ever made and are arguably the most reliable engines of all time. In 2022 Lexus sold 2,679 LS 500 models in 2022. A rather pathetic figure when compared with RX sales, which topped 96,000 units in the same year.

                The RX is Lexus’s bread and butter, in fact, it is the best-selling luxury car period. Not just the best-selling luxury SUV but the best-selling luxury vehicle across all model designations. For 2023 Lexus unveiled the all-new Lexus RX which for the first time received a turbo four-cylinder engine. I imagine you are seeing a trend at this point toward smaller cylinder counts, and Lexus is not alone in that trend. Government mandates and consumer demand have compelled manufacturers to turn out smaller more efficient engines. The challenge is to beat the power, reliability, and refinement of the larger motors. Lexus cannot simply match the outgoing engine they must surpass it even with the smaller cylinder count. Lexus’s first four-cylinder turbo motor was the two-liter 8AR-FTS. It debuted in the 2015 NX and 2016 IS, RC, and GS. This motor makes a poultry 241 HP in its most powerful form and response feels delayed especially in IS and RC models. The new 2.4 turbo motor in the 2023 RX does not suffer from this problem and manages to outperform the V6 in power, feel, and refinement.

New 2018 Lexus LS Looking to Undercut Competitors on Price

[See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] The all-new Lexus LS 500 was introduced earlier this year, and now we know it will begin arriving at dealerships next February in the U.S. Although exact pricing hasn’t been announced by Lexus, the Japanese luxury automaker promises it will start around $75,000, making it comparable to the current model. The new LS is longer and wider than its predecessor, sporting a coupe-like silhouette and the company’s unique design language. There is, of course, the brand’s divisive spindle grille mesh up front, flanked by narrow, slit-like three-projector headlamps merged with an L-shaped LED lamp that wraps broadly around to the side. The model will also debut two new 19-inch wheel designs and three 20-inch wheel designs, two of which are also new. It outputs 416 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque and is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel economy. Lexus says the LS 500 goes zero to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. There is also the new LS Hybrid, which combines a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with a pair of electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. The result is a combined system output of 354 hp and a zero-to-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds. It is estimated to return 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for a 28-mpg combined rating. Look for exact pricing on the entire 2018 Lexus LS lineup to be announced closer to the model’s launch early next year. With its radical new design, coupe-like silhouette and interior inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, the all-new 2018 Lexus LS 500 was named 2017 EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Interior Design at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

The EyesOn Design Awards are the officially sanctioned design awards for NAIAS. They honor the best production and concept vehicles making their worldwide auto show debut at NAIAS. A panel of design leaders representing automotive manufacturers and transportation design chiefs from top design schools around the globe select vehicles to receive EyesOn Design Awards.

Designed by Lexus Design Division in Toyota City, Japan, the fifth-generation LS 500 represents not only the Lexus brand but will become the new-generation luxury car embodying Japanese tradition and culture.  The designers took the approach of starting from new, reimagining what a flagship should be, as if launching the brand all over again.  The goal was to exceed expectations of their luxury customers.

電能、自動駕駛持續引領未來汽車發展，2020 台北車展 CarStuff 點名必看概念車

堪稱台灣車壇最大盛會的兩年一度世界新車大展，也就是我們俗稱的台北車展，即將於12月27日在南港展覽館盛大開幕，而台北車展之所以不同於〝賣車大會〞，乃是因為來自全球品牌的概念車也不少，甚至一肩扛���車展的主秀也沒有���題，而2018台北車展又有哪些值得期待的未來概念戰略車款呢？且看CarStuff的整理報導！

BMW i Vision Dynamics Concept

i Vision Dynamics Concept 是在 2017 年法蘭克福車展亮相的純電概念車，延續著 NEXT 100 Vision系列概念車設計元素，，碩大的雙腎形水箱護罩少了進氣隔柵，讓人直覺聯想到電動車的設計，雖然車身尺碼原廠並未透露，但從身型看來Vision Dynamics Concept被定位成一款四門Gran Coupe，保有BMW一慣的長軸距、短懸吊的經典比例，搭配刀鋒般的LED頭尾燈，看來即便是電動車，也要有帥氣的線條。

BMW替i Vision Dynamics Concept規劃了超過600公里的最大續航里程，性能表現方面可在4秒內完成0-100km/h加速，擁有上看超過200km/h的極速，內裝雖然沒有圖片可供預覽，但在搭載的自動駕駛技術支援下，可以猜想車室內將會以乘坐舒適性為最大考量，特別的是擋風玻璃一路延伸至車尾，除了提供更寬闖的視野外，也帶來別出心裁的坐乘體驗。

Nissan IMs Concept

Nissan 在這次車展上，向日本母廠借來了於 2019 北美車展上首度亮相的 IMs Concept 概念車，結合 SUV 與三廂四門車型而成，作為預覽未來純電房車產品線的方向。IMs 造型上相當特殊，沿襲了 IMx 的銳利設計風格，車身具有清晰可見的硬直線條結合輕柔流動的板金，另外車頭則設計了一個非傳統的“水箱罩”，兩側是時尚的LED和垂直的擾流翼。而整個車頂線條則與現行款 Maxima 相當類似，搭配全景玻璃也讓車內氣氛更為開闊，當然採用前後對開「自殺式」隱藏把手車門也是 ID 系列概念車的一大特色，搭配22吋大型輪圈，遠看真的有如一台 SUV。

內裝部分同樣沒有儀表板或是中控台的設計，你只能看到許多螢幕組成的未來化座艙並且延續到車門板上。左邊的主要顯示時間，溫度和電力剩餘範圍，右邊則是顯示車內娛樂系統和前排乘客的娛樂系統相關資訊，另外 IMx 上面所出現的「Premier Seat」獨立四座設計，更可以 90 度向後旋轉成為對座設計。

雖然 Nissan 將 IMs 視為未來的運動化跑房車，但他還是具備全自動駕駛模式，啟動後方向盤會自動收進去前方讓駕駛者能以更舒服的姿勢休息，同時車頭與車尾燈組都改成藍色向外界告知目前正在「自動駕駛」模式。

動力系統上， IMs 採用雙馬達系統搭配 115 kWh 鋰電池組，因此可以輸出最大馬力 483 hp (360 kW / 490 PS) 、最大扭力 590 lb-ft (799 Nm) ，雖然 Nissan 並沒有公佈其加速數據，但其續航力卻可以達到 611km的水準（單趟）。

Lexus LF-30 Concept

Lexus 這次動作相當大，才在東京車展上展出的 LF-30 Concept，這次和泰汽車獲得日方奧援，立刻空運來台灣展示，向台灣消費者展示了面向未來電動共享方案的“ Lexus 電氣化（Lexus Electrified）”願景首個里程碑。

LF-30 完美詮釋了 Lexus 電氣化的願景。極富未來感和藝術氣息的外觀設計，是為了實現與搭載輪上電動馬達（In-wheel motor）的純電動車相呼應的外觀設計，Lexus 將LF-30上獨特的能量流向轉變為可視化的設計語言：四個車輪產生的能量分別從車身四角匯聚到駕駛艙，並通過駕駛者直接傳向路面。

純電動車對前引擎蓋大小的要求較低，因此標誌性的紡錘形水箱罩設計進一步擴展到整車架構上。貫穿前後的車窗、肌肉感十足的翼子板以及翼形頭燈都強化了這一標誌性家族設計。優雅犀利的車頭和簡潔有力的尾部令整個車身設計一氣呵成。除了翼形頭燈，凌厲的尾燈、車身側面進氣口和其它功能性元素相互配合，大大提升了整車的空氣動力學和散熱性能。

駕駛艙基於全新的“Tazuna”（意為“韁繩”）概念打造，方向盤上精心設計的控制按鈕和抬頭顯示器相互配合，可實現簡單直觀的操作，讓駕駛者時刻專注於駕駛，無需繁瑣操作，便可輕鬆控制各種常用功能（如導航、音響系統和駕駛模式選擇等）。作為一款面向未來的純電動車，LF-30採用下一代人機交互界面設計，包括AR行車信息顯示和手勢控制界面，為用戶提供舒適便捷的駕乘環境。

F-30所具備的電池容量達110kWh，續航里程可達500公里，並能支援150kW的快速充電系統。性能也是「LF」所不可或缺的一環，每顆輪子皆獨立配有一具電動馬達，共四具電動馬達可爆發544匹最大馬力及71.4公斤米扭力，0至100公里加速僅需3.8秒，極速可達200公里，展現強悍性能。另外，由於電動車電池擺放的位置貼近車輛底部，造就電動車天生擁有低重心的優勢，LEXUS利用此一特性，再輔以最新科技LEXUS Advanced Posture Control：它可以依照駕駛者的感受，獨立控制包含前輪驅動、後輪驅動及四輪驅動等各種傳動方式，還可調節馬力，以創造平衡且兼具駕駛樂趣的行車體驗。LEXUS也預告了此一科技未來將全面搭載在所有LEXUS電動車款。

Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept

LEXUS LF-1 Limitless開創了一個全新的豪華品類-旗艦級概念SUV，集強勁性能和豪華配備於一身，顧名思義代表著無限的潛能和可能性，同時也代表著噴湧不息的澎湃動力和能源多樣性：可以在燃料電池、混合動力、汽油，甚至純電模式下運行，充分體現了LEXUS 在科技、創新和設計上的最新進展。

LF-1 Limitless Concept 全車是與加州 CALTY Design Research 中心一同設計，因此全車充滿了未來感，不僅將 Lexus 標誌性的紡錘形水箱罩加以放大，迴旋鏢 LED 大燈與日行燈組基本上是與葉子板結合再一起，因此也沒有意義上的保險桿。而車身造型也與現行 LX/GX 等大型 SUV 走方正造型完全不同，反而更為偏向 RX 這種 Crossover 流線車身線條，比較值得注意的是車頂採用大型天窗，搭配車尾門上緣分離式尾翼與第三煞車燈，非常的搶眼。最後車尾採用的一道 LED 尾燈組，搭配下防護板，讓 LF-1 Limitless Concept 遠看也極為前衛。

車身尺碼上，LF-1 Limitless Concept  長 5014 mm 、寬 1986 mm、高 1605 mm ，軸距則為 2974 mm ，其實就車身尺碼來看是藉由 LX/GX 之間，因此很難說這台車到底會取代哪款車型。

至於內裝部分，LF-1 Limitless Concept 採用駕駛者導向的設計，全數位液晶儀表板可以顯示大量的行車資訊，而中控台上緣採用大面積的液晶顯示螢幕，並內建顯示4D導航系統。下方則是空調、音響、藍芽手機等開關。至於中央鞍座則是憑藉著駕駛人開啟何種模式來進行功能上的切換。另外座椅佈局上 ，LF-1 Limitless Concept 採用的是四人獨立座位設定，前座頭枕後方還擁有獨立的顯示螢幕，後座中央更設計有娛樂控制平板等。

當然 Lexus 自 LS+ Concept 車上開始導入的並且會配備源自於 LS+ 的 Highway Teammate 的自動駕駛技術，可以實現從高速入口至出口專用道路中的自動駕駛。不過動力系統上 Lexus 一個字都沒有說，僅表示將如同概念車「Limitless」名稱，未來將會有汽油引擎、HYBRID 油電混合引擎、PHEV 插電式混合動力系統、純電EV到氫燃料 Fuel Cell 動力引擎等多種燃料進行搭配。

Infiniti QX Inspiration Concept

INFINITI純電概念休旅 QX Inspiration，融合日式元素的全新設計語彙，重新塑造當代汽車樣貌。優雅堅韌的車身線條，源自於日式摺紙藝術，獨一無二的色彩靈感，恬淡而深刻，乃是啟發自日本漆器和陶瓷作品，遵循日本傳統「間(Ma)」空間留白的設計美學，在線條間找尋可能性，創造視覺上的藝術張力。車頂以木質百葉窗作為設計，透過光影交織，探尋美的境界，搭配有如日本春季散發溫暖光芒的室內氣氛燈，營造寧靜氛圍。方向盤包裹著柔軟皮革，搭配有著拋光處理的金色寬螢幕顯示器，結合手工縫製的皮革座椅，讓一切盡顯不凡。

 QX Inspiration，搭載智慧型全時四輪驅動系統(e-AWD)，透過置於前軸與後軸上的馬達驅動輪軸，使其在任何情況下，皆能輕鬆駕馭。此外，電池以平整化的設計配置於底盤，降低車體重心，並搭配22吋鋁合金輪圈與優異的空氣力學設計，強化高速行駛的穩定性、舒適性，並兼具優異的操控性能表現。藉由電動車的配置優勢，QX Inspiration使車內空間極大化，輔以軸距2,850mm的設定，打造有如豪華休息室般的內裝空間，讓乘坐者能自在舒展、放鬆身心。

Mercedes-Benz EQA Concept 

Mercedes-Benz 除了在現場帶來了 EQC 純電量產車，這次也準備了一個驚喜：2017年法蘭克福車展與東京車展亮相的「EQA Concept」全新電動概念車。

EQA Concept 車型上也轉型為三門掀背，名稱上的A其實就是來自2017上海車展發表的Concept A Saloon設計元素，對應概念車4285×1810×1428mm的車身尺碼及2729mm軸距，不��看出與A-Class的血緣關係。

在純電動架構下，EQA Concept在前後軸各配置有1具電動馬達，總功率輸出來到200kW，使其可在5秒內完成0-100km/h加速，透過Daimler旗下新能源公司Deutsche ACCUMOTIVE自行研發的60kWh高效鋰離子電池組供電，使得總續航里程高達400公里，使用快充可在10分鐘內回復100公里範圍的續航力，除了常見的插電充電外，透過Mercedes me的服務亦可支援無線充電的功能，將智能化用車生活發揮極致。

正如前言所述，EQA Concept設計元素來自Concept A Saloon，是Mercedes-Benz首款緊湊型電動概念車，由於少了傳統引擎配置，車頭不再需要進氣格柵，改以大面積的黑色矩陣式LED面板構成，搭配兩側螺旋狀的雷射頭燈，前後保險桿、車側則由一道水藍色光條貫穿，營造十足的科技感受，猶如電能脈衝的尾燈亦採用雷射燈組技術，有趣的是，在駕駛模式從Sport切換至Sport Plus時，車頭LED面板便會從暈開狀的藍色火焰轉換成紅色直瀑式，或許未來也會變成與外界傳遞資訊的媒介。

Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept

e-Evolution Concept 是 Mitsubishi 於 2017 年東京車展展出的純電 SUV 概念車，名稱的「e」也直接表明這是一款為了未來新能源車市場而設計。車型除了是全球車壇正夯的Crossover外，也將納入全新的 EV 電動車技術、AYC電動四輪驅動與 AI 人工智慧技術。

外觀全車依循著DYNAMIC SHIELD的家族設計，壯碩的車頭由兩道鍍鉻飾條裝飾，可動式玻璃帷幕保護下的進氣格柵採用網狀設計，多少透漏了點性能味，下方大型進氣壩則是為了電控煞車冷卻做足準備，鏡面烤漆飾板下則藏著感應器與攝影鏡頭。

e-Evolution Concept動力來自高性能電動馬達，搭配一組設在車底板的高容量電池系統，提供低重心的車輛動態穩定性，全新開發雙馬達控制AYC（Active Yaw Control）四輪驅動系統，無論在何種情況下都能精準掌控驅動力。

e-Evolution Concept也是極盡概念車之能事，對開車門與無B住的設計，讓進出車室更為方便，由於沒有傳統引擎室的拘束，因此車室內裝也可以盡情發揮，創造出新穎的座艙空間，環艙式儀表板作為AI 人工智慧系統的輔助，能夠掌握智能駕駛的各項資訊。

Toyota RHOMBUS Concept

這台怪異的電動車，是由 Toyota 中國分公司 TMEC 開發的全新電動概念車「RHOMBUS」個人自駕電動車，也是未來都會純電小車的概念雛���，其開發及設計理念為針對90後年輕世代所設計。RHOMBUS Concept在外觀及車室設計上都相當前衛、創新，以「菱形」做為設計核心，極具未來感的菱形外觀塑造出更節能、環保的低風阻表現；獨特的1+2+1 三排特殊中置駕駛座，則創造出適合未來生活需求的科技座艙，是一台可以代表未來移動科技的先驅車款。

Toyota FINE-Comfort Ride Concept

FINE-Comfort Ride Concept 是在 2017 東京車展亮相的概念車，是一款AI自動駕駛的氫燃料電池動力車款，其開發及設計理念為實現零碳排放的未來移動社會。FINE-Comfort Ride的AI自動駕駛科技，結合3,450mm超長軸距與2+2+2的超彈性座艙設計，讓其車室空間能化身具有隱密性的會議或交誼場域。在未來，開車上路將不再只是單純的點到點「移動」，而將可以在過程中創造出各種可能性。

既然是概念車，內裝鋪陳也是相當前衛，大面積的數位儀表幾乎涵蓋整個正副駕，就連方向盤操作界面、車窗上也有數位螢幕，在自動駕駛為前提下，滿足諸如行車娛樂、商業會議等各式各樣情境所需。只不過進一步詢問原廠人員，這台概念車與 Mirai 共用相同的氫燃料電池系統，在日本JC08測試值下最大續航里程可達1千公里。

Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept
