Huracan #20,000 Rolls Off Lamborghini Line
Automobili Lamborghini announces Huracán number 20,000: an STO model in glorious Grigio Acheso Matt for a client in the Principality of Monaco. While the Huracán Super Trofeo Omologata is the pinnacle of Huracán performance in a road car with racing spirit, it heads an extended family of Huracán models that have delivered aspirated performance with characterized dynamic handling and driving emotion since its 2014 launch.
Eight years’ success since 2014
The Huracán's success has endured for eight years, an attraction maintained over time thanks to a wide range of versions: 12 road and three racing versions.  Since 2014, 71% of customers have chosen the coupé versions and 29% the open-air derivatives. Top of the markets is the United States, where more than 32% of all Huracán versions have been delivered in the last eight years, followed by the UK and Greater China. This solid success continues also today: Huracán models largely contributed to the 2021 sales record with a strong increase sales up to 2,586 units, due partly to the impetus from the very positive customer response to the Huracán STO.
2014: the first coupé version, LP 610-4
The first Huracán coupé (LP 610-4) debuted at the 2014 Geneva motor show with four-wheel drive, 610 hp, acceleration from 0-100 km/h of 3.2 secs and a top speed of 325 km/h. Innovations included Lamborghini ANIMA drive mode selection, on-board gyroscope LPI system, dual fuel injection and LEDs lights throughout the car: an industry first in the super sports segment. The Huracán LP 610-4 Spyder was unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. The 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 is the same as in the coupé and develops 610 hp. The 0-100 km/h sprint is covered in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is 323 km/h.
2015: Huracán LP 580-2, a two-wheel drive experience
Compared to the LP 610-4, it differs in that it has a lower-powered engine and rear-wheel drive instead of all-wheel drive. It has the same 5.2-litre V10 as the 610-4 but with power reduced to 580 hp and torque of 533 Nm. Thanks to the absence of four-wheel drive, Lamborghini's engineers have achieved a weight saving of 33 kg compared to the Huracán coupé, at just 1,389 kg. Top speed is 320 km/h. A Spyder RWD variant of the Huracán LP 580-2 was unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November 2016. The 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 is the same as the coupe and develops 580 hp. A 250-off, limited edition Avio model in 2016, celebrated the aviation and aeronautic inspiration in Huracán styling.
2016: the Huracán Performante debut and the Nürburgring lap record
The 640 hp Huracán Performante stormed into markets in 2016: with Lamborghini’s patented ALA active aerodynamic innovations, it took the Nordschleife Nürburgring lap record for production cars and won awards around the world. In 2018, the Huracán Performante Spyder took the zenith of Huracán developments: the sublime combination of peerless technological innovation, performance and open-air driving. Like the Performante coupé, the Spyder outputs 640 hp at 8,000 rpm, producing 600 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 9.3 seconds.
2019: the new Huracán EVO - the next generation V10 super sports car
In 2019, the Huracán EVO ‘evolution’ debuted. The distinctive design defined the aerodynamic superiority and enhanced driving dynamics of this new model taking the 640 hp and extraordinary abilities of the Performante combined with rear-wheel steering, torque vectoring and LDVI with predictive logic. The EVO Spyder adopted the next-generation vehicle dynamic control and aerodynamics developed for the coupé, with the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated Lamborghini V10 engine uprated for a higher power output and incorporating Titanium intake valves. In 2020, the Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) was presented delivering 610 hp of power at 8,000 rpm and 560 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm to a lightweight car with rear-wheel drive and dynamic steering for maximum driving fun. The Huracán EVO RWD has a top speed of 325 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds.  In the same year, Automobili Lamborghini was the first automotive brand to use Augmented Reality (AR) for the virtual launch of a new model, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder. Using Apple’s AR Quick Look, the company brought its latest V10 super sports car directly to customers and fans worldwide.
2021: the Huracán STO – Lamborghini Squadra Corse at its heart
The Huracán STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) launched in 2021 delivered Lamborghini’s motorsport experience and know-how in a homologated road car. It has been inspired by the Huracán EVO Super Trofeo developed by Squadra Corse for Lamborghini’s own race series, as well as the Huracán EVO GT3, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and two-time winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring. With its 640 hp naturally aspirated V10 engine generating 565 Nm at 6,500 rpm, the rear-wheel drive Huracán STO delivers exhilarating acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.0 seconds, and a top speed of 310 km/h.
2022: the Huracán Tecnica, designed & engineered for both worlds
The latest in the Huracán family, unveiled in April 2022, is the Huracán Tecnica: the next-generation rear-wheel drive V10, developed for pilots seeking driving fun and lifestyle perfection on both road and track. The Tecnica’s moniker embodies the advanced evolution of the Huracan’s technical prowess and, instantly distinguishable as much a Huracán innovation externally as it is under the hood, with its new looks accenting improved aerodynamics for heightened performance, stability and ease of use, particularly on a circuit.  Taking its engine from the Huracán STO, with an increase of 30 CV over the Huracán EVO rear-wheel drive (RWD), the powertrain delivers 565 Nm of torque at maximum 6,500 rpm and improved acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
From connectivity to the digital world of E-sports
In 2021 Lamborghini became the first automaker to incorporate complete vehicle system control by Amazon Alexa in the Huracán EVO, and also first to adopt the what:three:words function for accurate navigation anywhere in the world. Lamborghini fans enjoy the Huracán in a host of video games and E-sports competitions including FORZA Horizon and Gran Turismo, Rocket League and Assetto Corsa Competizione.
60% of Huracáns feature Ad Personam customization
More than 60% of Huracáns delivered have featured Ad Personam customization drawing on a vast palette of colors, trims and special materials. The Ad Personam program now offers around 300 exterior colors, but a customer can always request a unique option. Customers in central Europe, Japan and UK are the most inclined to tailor-made customization. Everyday objects such as furniture, sofas, bags, clothes, but also make-up (eye shadows, nail varnish), precious stones and watchstraps inspire Lamborghini customers. They need to feel free to create something that represents them: their tastes, personality and everyday life. A Huracán rear-wheel drive for the Pope was created in papal colors and presented in the Vatican City to be auctioned for charity.
Huracán Polizia: a long-standing relationship with the Italian Police
Several Huracán’s have been delivered to the Italian police in a long-standing relationship: mainly used in medical emergencies, last year a Huracán delivered a transplant organ across 489 km from Padua to Rome in just over two hours.
Visitors touching down at Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi airport have enjoyed the sight of Huracán follow-me cars leading planes onto aprons.
Huracán Adventures & Expeditions around the world
Huracáns have adventured across landscapes from Transylvania to the Scottish Highlands and Norwegian Lofoten islands, and amazed participants in Lamborghini Accademias on tracks and ice with their dynamic prowess.
From the road to the racetrack with Huracán Super Trofeo
The Huracán and its EVO successor have also created history on the racetrack. Almost 500 Huracán race cars have come off the production line in Super Trofeo and GT3 guise, including a limited Squadra Corse edition celebrating 10 years of Super Trofeo in 2019. Huracán GT3s have taken over than 40 championship titles and 117 victories in more than 12 series worldwide: Lamborghini is the only automaker to win the 24 Hours of Daytona GTD class three consecutive times, with the GT3 and GT3 EVO also winning the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring double, two years in a row between 2018 and 2019.

A buyer paid over $800,000 for Pope Francis’ Lamborghini Huracan.
Supercar manufacturers often manage to sell cars with just a few visual tweaks as special editions despite a hefty price tag. But, how much are buyers really willing to pay for these cars? Turns out, a lot. Especially, if that visual addition is the signature of His Holiness Pope Francis himself.
A Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 signed by the Pope last November was recently auctioned at RM Sotheby’s Monaco Sale for no less than $861,575.  All the proceeds from the sale were donated to charity.
Apart from the Pope’s signature, this rear wheel drive Huracan has been customized by Lamborghini’s Ad Personam division and is finished in a Bianco Monocerus white paint job with Giallo Tiberino goldish yellow stripes running down the center of the vehicle and around the windows. The Giano wheels available as an option for the Huracan only add to the beauty.
The sale of the vehicle will benefit a number of groups, with 70-percent of the funds being allocated to the city of Nineveh, Iraq (a city heavily attacked and besieged by ISIS), 10-percent to ‘Amici per il Centrafrica Onlus,’ another 10-percent to Groupe International Chirurgiens Amis de la Main (GICAM), and the final 10-percent to the Pope John XXIII Community Association.

First Drive: 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster
Split personalities are, mostly, not at all like they’re portrayed in the movies. In reality, the condition is called Dissociative Identity Disorder, and it’s a serious affliction, not a fun premise. At Lamborghini, the reality is somewhere between the two. On the one hand, there’s the razor-sharp performance and impressive bandwidth of the Huracan, from the rear-drive LP 580-2 to the ‘Ring mastering Performante. On the other hand, there’s the Aventador. Both are completely Lamborghini, but neither will ever be mistaken for the other.
If the Huracan is the distilled essence of New Lamborghini, the Aventador is the flaming spirit of Old Lamborghini, and Old Lamborghini has always been a bit wacky. That’s not a criticism—on the contrary, the completely out-there style of the Countach launched beyond even the eroticism of the Miura to cement the brand from Sant’Agata as a global icon. The progeny of the Countach—Diablo, Murcielago, Aventador—carry on that legacy. The latest model to extend the line is the Aventador S, which is now available in Roadster form.
Updates include the full S treatment given to the coupe in 2017: a power upgrade for the 6.5-liter V-12 engine increases output from the first Aventador Roadster’s 691 hp to the S’s 730-hp rating, four-wheel steering is added, as is a new dynamic steering ratio system, and a revised suspension tune. The result? A car that’s still totally wacky and is now a bit better to drive.
That’s still not to say it’s good, in the supercar sense of the word, especially in today’s incredibly competitive context. When it first debuted, the Aventador’s handling was most closely modeled after a full-size pickup minus the body roll, or so it seemed to me. The Aventador S improves substantially on that starting point; it now drives somewhat like a midsize crossover, minus the comfort.
The problem is, basically, everything. The Aventador’s carbon-fiber chassis has never been the lightest thing around, and it was tuned from the outset for manageable but infinite understeer. That’s not changed with the S’s improvements, but it’s lessened somewhat. The new four-wheel steering does make the very wide Aventador considerably nimbler, and able to make tighter-radius turns. But driven harder at speeds where the four-wheel steering is turning out of phase (in the direction opposite the front wheels), there’s a perceptible delay between steering input through the wheel and the rear end responding to that input, despite Lamborghini’s claimed 5 ms response time. The result is that a few hundred milliseconds after you turn in for a corner, the rear end turns more, making you dial out a bit of steering angle, then dial it back in once the rear wheels respond to the secondary input. Then rinse and repeat until the corner is finally over and the Aventador S Roadster can do what it really wants to: go straight, really fast. The 3.0-second 0-60 mph time and 217 mph top speed are not jokes.
Worse still, there’s the dynamic steering ratio, which alters the amount of steering wheel input required to achieve a given steering angle at the tires, based on vehicle speed. If you should chance upon a corner that has a long, arcing entry that just begs for a bit of trailing brake, a constant amount of steering wheel angle results in a constantly varying amount of steering angle at the road surface. Combine this behavior with the four-wheel steering’s lag time, and you have a reason to use your favorite map app to find the straightest route possible to your destination.
The one significant improvement to the Aventador S Roadster’s handling and finesse comes from the transmission. Tuned so brutally in its first iteration, the Independent Shifting Rod single-clutch automated manual is now just a touch more refined, allowing hard upshifts during acceleration without the extreme jarring to the driveline and jostling of the passengers—which, in turn, allows for smoother driving nearer the limits.
But handling was never the point of the batshit end of the Lamborghini spectrum. Furious power, sound like Thor’s hammer striking the Liberty Bell, and an image that would make an anime hero blush were the metrics, and the Aventador has scored 150% in each of those categories since day one. The S Roadster moves the needle to 200%.
A slight exterior redesign gives the S Roadster a sharper visual edge, and the extra power puts a deeper bite to the unrivaled bark of the big V-12, but a great deal of this Italian super-stallion’s appeal is timeless; it’s theater in motion. The Roadster version of the Aventador keeps all the over-the-top design, but pops the top, letting the Master of the Universe behind the wheel see and be seen—a key mission for any Lamborghini halo car.
Pull up to any valet at any hotel, restaurant, or country club anywhere in the world, and the Aventador S Roadster becomes the instant star—even if the display lot is already full of Bugattis, Ferraris, and McLarens. Give it a quick rev as you depart, and the whole building will know you’ve left. Even in jaded, gridlocked, Tesla-worshiping Southern California, the sheer visual and auditory presence of the Aventador S Roadster is a force potent enough to inspire (friendly!) honks, waves, thumbs-up, and, wild gesticulation amounting to sign language for “Rev it hard!”
Cruising Highway 1, the Pacific on your flank, you’re happy to oblige, blipping the throttle like a kid in a supermarket race car ride, grinning madly, disappearing into the sunset. You don’t need record Nordschleife lap times just like you don’t need a poster on your wall. You are the poster on the wall brought to life.

My Dad Bought Himself A Pretty Awesome Christmas Present via /r/cars
My Dad Bought Himself A Pretty Awesome Christmas Present
Last week I flew back home to LA for the holidays, and my dad immediately asked me if I wanted to head down to the Lamborghini dealership in Newport Beach. My dad has been talking about getting some crazy supercar for around a year and a half now, but has never been able to pull the trigger. I didn't expect that to change in a matter of hours.
We were checking out a Huracan 580-2 and a McLaren 720S when the sales manager, an incredibly nice man by the name of Sebastian, showed us the "rarest" model they had on their lot - a 2018 Huracan Performante. In the last 5 weeks since they started taking dealership/showroom deliveries from Italy, they have only been given 5 Performante allocations, and 4 of them sold the day they arrived at the dealership. They had 3 McLaren P1s that they hadn't been able to move yet, as well as 8 675LTs and several other incredibly rare cars - people wanted the Performante more.
The final Huracan Performante they had available was a beautiful matte gray called Grigio Titans, and it looked stunning. I convinced my dad to take a test drive in the not-as-attractive yellow Huracan Performante press car that they had on the lot. As soon as I saw the look on his face when he started the engine, I knew Lamborghini would be gaining a loyal customer.
We picked up the car on Monday, and both my dad and I were grinning ear to ear the entire drive home. I can't even begin to put into words how insane the acceleration is. I've driven fast cars before, even launching a 2014 Aventador a few times. This is in a different realm altogether. Lamborghini claims 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. We launched it on a private road and the data recorder showed that we did it in 2.6 seconds. I can't begin to imagine how fast the car would be on a prepped surface.
The sound is even wilder. The engine screams behind you like a shrieking banshee bolting straight out of hell, but there's also a surprisingly low, angry rumble that you don't hear outside the car at all. From inside the car it almost sounds like there are two engines - the screaming V-10 and what I can only describe as a 6.3L AMG engine hooked up to a megaphone. It is aural nirvana.
I've been fortunate enough to drive or ride in a lot of high-performance cars in my life - none of them compare to this thing. My knuckles have been white and my hands have been shaking every time I've exited the car, even when I'm not driving it. It begs you for more, more, more, and it is so rewarding to drive quickly. The car has more personality than most people I've met, and will do anything to put a smile on your face.
I know I'm gushing a bit, but I had to get my thoughts out somewhere. Here are some pictures of the car, for those interested:
