❛❛  송버드의 멜로디  ❜❜   ───   from red rover era to killing me softly era
w. contains imagery that may cause eyestrain, flashing light, contains imagery of blood and weapons in the ego death section of the video mentions death in the killing me softly section! if i missed anything please let me know!
n. i realized while making this part that im actually insanely happy with judy’s discography lmaooo!! feedback is always welcome~~! i had fun making both of the posts for her discography hehe
Tumblr media
RED ROVER era began with the pre-single WHAT THE FLOWER?, released on November 21, 2018. The album, the singer’s first studio album, was released on January 2, 2019. The title track, Forgotten Fairytale, caused controversy towards the singer—due to the sexually suggestive nature of the music video and choreography. The song’s music video was banned from KBS due to these same issues; she could not perform the song on any music broadcast. In response, Team Honeysuckle released a performance video of the song and held a two-day concert the weekend after the album’s release. While she could not promote the title track, LOVE DRUG, the album’s second track, was promoted for one week.
Despite the controversy surrounding this album, it was nominated for many major music awards but only took home Album of the Year at the MAMA Awards.
Talking Heads followed its predecessor by being relatively mature as well. However, unlike RED ROVER’s title track, Tail could be promoted on music shows. Tail was popular; its intriguing music video and distinct choreography ensured it was one of the most popular releases in 2019. The b-sides were just as popular, Good Girls in the Dark debuting at number four on Goan’s Digital Chart and number seven on Billboard’s Top 100. Bad Hobby blew up on tiktok, and the single Red Rover followed suit.
The hype around the Summer EP, HONEY, began during the Talking Heads era. The singer’s seventh mini album was teased at the end of the latter promotions. Promotion for the upcoming album began with a collaboration between Team Honeysuckle and several Seoul-based cafes. The EP consists of nine songs, including TAXI—the title track. TAXI was promoted for four weeks and won sixteen music show awards.
IDOLL is JUDY's Japanese debut studio album, released through the Japan-based subsidiary Yūgen Labs. IDOLL is unofficially a collaboration album between the Seoul-based singer and the Japanese band Cupid’s Chokehold, also under Yūgen. Most songs were written by the band’s lead guitarist, Kaede Fujiwara. In addition, the band accompanied Judy on her short Japan tour, which spanned from January to early March.
The album contains seven tracks. IDOL represents the album as its title track and one of the most streamed songs of the album. The track Adventure was just as popular, the song being played at the Hollywood Dream — the ride venue at Universal Studios Japan.
The album's reception was mixed. Most of the negative reviews focused on how rushed the release felt and how out of place the tracklist was; most stated that the songs felt more like a series of singles than a coherent album. The positive reviews ultimately, outweighed the negative ones. Japanese fans enjoyed how creative the music videos were and the stories each song spun.
After a year-long unplanned hiatus, JUDY released her eighth mini album on July 6, 2021. Lover Girl was released with two promotional tracks: Not In Public and Heart.
Both music videos starred the idol’s fiancée, Jung Kyungmin. It was their first collaboration since they confirmed their relationship in 2017. Inspired by the 1990s and early 2000s romance animes and dramas, the music video won Best Music Video at the 2021 MAMA Awards.
EGO DEATH. was released on August 21, 2022, as JUDY’s second full album. Along with the release of this album, JUDY announced her 3rd world tour, PLASTIC DOVE, which took place from early 2022 to mid-2023.
EGO DEATH. was one of Judy’s most adventurous albums, specifically with the lead track, little god. The music video for little god shocked many viewers due to its bloody and thrilling nature. Because of its graphic nature, it joined Forgotten Fairytale and was banned from KBS. However, unlike its predecessor, she could still perform it on music broadcasts. EGO DEATH. was ranked at 13 on Billboard’s top 25 K-pop albums of 2022.
little god peaked at two on the Gaon Digital Chart. The seventh track of the album, Cold as Hell, debuted atop the Billboard World Digital Song Sales, becoming the second song of the singers to be on the list.
The South Korean singer’s ninth mini-album, Angel’s Breath, came just three months after EGO DEATH..
The title track, PLAY, also features Judy in a mature limelight, much like the previous releases. However, according to many SongBirds, this track feels more sophisticated than previous releases.
PLAY also made history for the singer. It became her first song to be nominated for a VMA award and the first time she performed at the VMAs. While she didn’t win the award, her performance secured her many more international fans, especially within the States. Her performance at the awards show went viral on social media, including Twitter and TikTok, primarily due to her stunning visuals and outstanding vocals.
JUDY opened the year 2023 with the single WICKED LOVE.  WICKED LOVE went viral on TikTok for several reasons, from its lyrical message to the stunning visuals of the performance video.
GODDESS is JUDY's debut English album. This era’s promotion came and went in the blink of an eye. The album was announced three days before its release and was barely promoted in the English-language media.
After an abrupt three-month hiatus caused by her fiancée’s sudden passing, JUDY returned in February 2024 with the pre-release MOVIESTAR.
MOVIESTAR’s music video reached over 24 million views within 24 hours of its release and over one million pre-sales. The song would be the most streamed song by the singer, only being dethroned by the song LOVE IN (summer nights) months later. MOVIESTAR accumulated seventeen music show wins.
Content-wise, SongBirds received a lot, from behind-the-scenes content to live performances and a three-part documentary about the song's composition. However, due to this content, fans began worrying about the singer, many citing specific moments in videos where she looked distressed. Judy would release a statement: “I’m fine. I’m simply getting used to this life.”
The album that accompanied the pre-single, KILLING ME SOFTLY, was released on February 12, 2024. It comprises eleven tracks, including the pre-single and title track Killing Me.
KILLING ME SOFTLY beat out MOVIESTAR in pre-sales, with a whopping three million. However, it came short in streams, with the MV only reaching 19 million upon release.
JUDY decided to stop promoting the song on music shows and instead do live performance videos. This decision came after much discussion. Fans and many non-fans criticized Cult Creative. Many believed the company used the singer’s grief for monetary gain. Cult Creative has never responded to these accusations, not even acknowledging them.

Dog Days Of Summer  (2023)
Tumblr media
Genre: Youth, Drama
Plot:
In the summer of 2002, South Korea hosts the World Cup and Yi Joon moves in with his aunt and uncle in Daegu. Yi Joon and his new classmates navigate friendship, family, and growing up over the hot summer.
Cast & Crew:
Moon Woo Jin as Kim Yi Joon
Park Seo Kyung as Han Yeo Reum
Supporting cast - Choi Hyun Jin, Kim Ji Sung, Jeong Hee Tae, Heo Dong Won, Kim Kwang Gyu, Kim Ji Won, Go Seong Bo, Lee Joo Won, Jung Yi Rang, Jeon Sok Chan
Director - Jang Min Sik
Screen Writer - Choi Yi Kyung
Music:
The music felt pretty unobtrusive but on closer inspection the backing music was a mix of music of the time (2001-2002) mixed with some nice instrumentals. The featured music includes: 착각의 늪 -  박고테 프로 젝트, 떠나가라 - QOQ, Please Summer! - 인디고(Indigo),  비몽 - 코요태 (KOYOTE), and 백전무패 - 클릭비 (Click-B).
Awards: Best Young Actor (Moon Woo Jin) - KBS Drama Awards 2023
Overall:
This drama special tells the story of Kim Yi Joon, a 14 year old boy in the summer of 2002 who is moving from Anyang to Daegu to live with his aunt and uncle. At first he seems like your standard sullen teen but as the drama special goes on you peel back the layers and find out his story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you watch the drama special you feel all of the hurt and pain piling up on this young boy and it’s quite heartbreaking. Watching him go through all the hardships wrung a surprising amount of tears from me. But he is resilient and it’s a wholesome and heartwarming coming of age story of finding your place in the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moon Woo Jin has been in a lot of productions since 2017, most recently Castaway Diva and The Atypical Family but this drama special is one of his first leading roles. He won the young actor award for his performance here and it's not surprising based on his performance. It was nice to see a cast of talented young people given a chance to shine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As well as Min Jun’s coming of age story, we get a glimpse of classmate Han Yeo Reum’s life. She also moved to Daegu in recent years and has adjusted to life there. At first she’s an adversary but when forced to work together and secrets are shared they form a bond. Like all her classmates she too is struggling through puberty and the hot hot Daegu summer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Korean dramas love the backdrop of their 2002 world cup to tell a story and I liked the way this drama special incorporated it into the story. Including footage from the various games and how it highlighted that Yi Joon was much more interested in basketball than soccer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, I thought this was a well done drama special. I enjoyed the coming of age story set in the early 2000s. If you like youth dramas such as Racket Boys or coming of age stories in general this drama special is definitely worth a watch.

Seungmin
Seungmin (Hangul: 승민; Katakana: スンミン; Hanja: 金昇玟) was born on September 22, 2000 (age 23) in Seoul, South Korea. He is the main vocalist[4] of the group Stray Kids.
Personal Life
Seungmin was born on September 22, 2000 in Seoul.
He was introduced to baseball by his grand-father.[5] He dreamed of becoming a baseball player so he worked hard for it but he had to stop because of an injury and other problems.[6] Still, he liked singing ever since he was little. In the fourth grade of elementary school, he went to a nursery rhyme contest, won a prize, and joined a choir. In middle school, when he was thinking about what he should do to be happy in life, he thought about "music", so he studied and practiced singing to appeal to his parents.[7]
He learned English when he went to Los Angeles for 3 months.[8]
He graduated from Cheongdam High School on February 14, 2019.[9]
A few years ago, Seungmin scouted for his own vocal teacher outside of JYP Entertainment to improve as a main vocalist.[10] He attends the singing classes of Voice Tuning along I.N.[11]
On May 8, 2023, he was invited to throw the first pitch for the Lotte Giants in Busan, but the match was cancelled altogether because of bad weather.[12]
On August 2, 2023, Seungmin opened his personal Instagram account.
Career
Predebut
While in high school, Seungmin participated in JYPE's 13th Open Audition[13], pushed by his school friend and JYP trainee Lee Daehwi[14], and placed 2nd. He joined JYP Entertainment in March 2017.[15]
His individual picture and name were officially revealed by the company on October 13, 2017 at noon, for his participation in the upcoming survival show Stray Kids.[16] He was introduced with the role "Vocal". On the final episode of the show on December 19, 2017, it was confirmed that Seungmin would debut in the boy group Stray Kids.
2018-present: Stray Kids
On March 25, 2018, Seungmin debuted with the mini album I am NOT as the lead vocalist of Stray Kids.[17]
He was a fixed MC for Arirang TV’s English-language program After School Club from July 24[18] to December 25, 2018[19], and a fixed MC for KBS World's English-language program We K-pop from July 12[20] to October 11, 2019.
Seungmin took on the role of main vocalist after Woojin's departure from the group on October 27, 2019.[4]
Since 2020, he regularly releases covers as part of the SKZ-RECORD web series.
On March 25, 2021, Seungmin co-wrote and released the duet song "Piece of a Puzzle" for the SKZ-RECORD series along Changbin.
He released his first solo OST "Here Always" for the drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha on October 10, 2021, and his second solo OST "Close to You" for the drama Love in Contract on October 20, 2022.
On December 21, 2022, Seungmin participated in writing and composing his original solo song "Stars and Raindrops" for the best album SKZ-REPLAY.
He was nominated for "Best Artist of K-Drama OST" for "Close to You" for the 2023 Top Ten Awards.[21]
On August 19, 2023, Seungmin's OSTs were moved from Stray Kids' discography to his solo Spotify profile, making him the first active solo member account on the platform.

Excellent Actress (Song Ha-Yoon)
Aynı zamanda Ko Dong-Man’ın yakın arkadaşı olan Kim Joo-Man (Ahn Jae-Hong) uzun zamandır sevgilidirler.
Kim Ji-Won’u “Descendants of the sun” dizisinde sert asker rolü ile hatırlıyorum.
Tavsiye eder miyim, evet ederim.

Kim Nam-gil, this year's SBS Acting Awards…
Tumblr media
Actor Kim Nam-gil won the SBS Acting Grand Prize this year and won his second acting award in three years.
Kim Nam-gil won the grand prize for his drama ‘Those Who Read the Evil Mind’ at the ‘2022 SBS Drama Awards’ held at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 31st of last month.
Kim Nam-gil played the role of a Catholic priest from the National Intelligence Service counter-terrorism special team who has an anger control disorder in the 2019 drama 'The Fiery Priest' (2019), and received his first acting target. This is his second award.
In his acceptance speech, Kim Nam-gil said, “I didn’t expect the drama at all because it aired at the beginning of the year.”
He added, “Thank you to director Park Bo-ram and writer Seol Na-na for writing a good article so that I don’t remember the original work and allowing me to think about the essentials.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the actors who worked together on set.
Kim Nam-gil looked back, saying, “The actors of ‘Those Who Read the Evil Mind’ were undoubtedly the best.”
He recalled, “I realized that acting is not about being famous while watching them (who played supporting villains) on set, and it was a scene where I felt that acting should always be humble.”
He continued, "I dedicate this award to the police officers who work day and night for our lives and safety, and to all the profilers who work hard to read the hearts of evil."
Kim Nam-gil made his debut in KBS 2TV's drama 'School' in 1999, and rose to stardom in 2009 by playing Bi-dam, where good and evil coexist in the drama 'Queen Seon-deok'. Since then, he appeared in the drama 'Bad Guy' (2010), the movie 'Pirates' (2014), 'Pandora' (2016), 'Memoir of a Murderer' (2017), and 'Emergency Declaration' (2022).

Woo Do Hwan - Interview with Hanryu Pia - Sept 2018
It is no exaggeration to say that Woo Do-hwan is a young star who is attracting the most attention in Korea. In a splendid performance in “Mad Dog”, he plays Kim Min-joon, an enigmatic man burdened with trauma, and speaks about his thoughts on this work and the appeal of his character.
Tumblr media
Even as a man I thought
Min-joon is cool
In 2017, Woo Do-hwan shot into the Korean entertainment industry like a comet, and in conversations was called nicknames such as “Super Rookie” and “Monstrous Newcomer”. Despite this, in reality he made his debut in a minor drama role in 2011, spending years in obscurity until finally obtaining a leading role in which to spread his wings. In “Save Me”, he played the role of Dong-chul, who struggled mightily to rescue the heroine held captive by a mysterious organization.  If “Save Me” was the work that gave Woo Do-hwan his opportunity to shine, then it can be said that “Mad Dog” cemented his status. It is this work that granted him the glory of KBS’s 2017 Best New Actor Award.
WDH: “Mad Dog” was a challenge for me. I was worried if I would be able to play the role well. This is my largest role thus far, and I appeared in many scenes with a significant number of lines. I jumped into this role immediately after my previous work “Save Me”, and it caused me to unintentionally speak with an accent (laugh). I remember getting flustered when Jo Jae-yoon, my senior and co-star, pointed out, “You sound like a hick”. However, for me it was a work that I didn’t want to let go of no matter what happened; I wanted to see it through to the end.
Woo Do-hwan performs as Kim Min-joon, who is also known as “Dr. Kim”. He lost his parents in a traffic accident when he was young, was separated from his older brother, and sent for adoption in Germany. Then he returns to his home country of South Korea in order to reveal the truth behind another incident. He has a wonderful smile, is attractive, speaks gracefully, and is fluent in German. Because he is able to impersonate anyone he wants, no one knows his true face.
WDH: The story evolves spectacularly with one plot twist after another. The character Min-joon was very charismatic. I wondered, “Who is this guy?”. I couldn’t predict his actions at all. I think the creation of a “city scammer” who hides his real face and never speaks his true intentions is cool. In front of anyone, he is imposing and calm. As a man, it’s very nice for me to see myself head straight towards my goal without hesitation. My character is supposed to be fluent in German, so I prepared while listening to recorded audio files over and over again. I had to be fearless about doing re-takes (laugh).
Tumblr media
I want to become an actor like my senior Yu Ji-tae.
Kim Min-joon joins the private insurance crime investigation team, “Mad Dog”, to find out the truth about his older brother’s death. There are various circumstances, but the assembled team possesses excellent skills to deal with them. Yoo Ji-tae plays Choi Kang-woo, a talented insurance fraud investigator who lost his beloved wife and son in a plane accident and became the leader of “Mad Dog”. The bromance between him and Kim Min-joon is a must-see.
WDH: Yoo Ji-tae is actually my university senior.  I watched a lot of his works before I entered university. To me, he has an outsized presence, so I was nervous when my co-star was chosen. When we met at the script reading and greeted each other for the first time, I couldn’t stop shaking(!). He kindly looked after me despite the state I was in. I realized that just being able to act won't land you a job as a leading man; you have to constantly care about the people around you. I indirectly learned a lot from him on the set. I want to become someone like him.
Kim Min-joon is filled with misanthropy and anger toward the world, but after he joins the Mad Dog team, he slowly opens up his heart and begins to feel a sense of solidarity towards the other team members.
Tumblr media
WDH: When I heard it was an insurance crime investigation drama, I thought it was really different. I’m not very familiar with insurance matters… Actually, when I was performing, absurd incidents were depicted in the drama that I realized were really happening every day. There aren’t any exhilarating scenes where the criminals are captured while the incidents are exposed, but most of all, please pay attention to the “Mad Dog” team members living in the world. I think the drama’s message is that human beings cannot live alone. Let’s call it the importance of living together. Kim Min-joon became aware of this during the course of the story.
Finally, I asked him how this work will remain with him in the context of his acting life?
WDH: As with all of the works that I’ve appeared in, it is really difficult to meet all my co-stars and the staff again. As a result, every work becomes a memory that I will never forget for the rest of my life. More than half a year has passed since the filming for “Mad Dog” wrapped up, but even now I remember how much fun I had. I feel very fortunate.
Woo Do-hwan’s serious attitude towards this work must have been the driving force that led him to his current position. From now on, I hope that the possibilities for the actor Woo Do-hwan will  increasingly expand.
Currently, he will appear in the occult horror action movie "The Divine Fury", which is scheduled for release next summer, where he will take on the challenge of his first villainous role as an evil god of death.
